Rob, we do the same thing. I call him at a certain time each day.

Does your phone bill show incoming calls? On the rare times Husby call me, my phone bill shows:

04/22/2009 13:23 6681411111 Incoming Call 00:32

And then me calling him back:

04/22/2009 13:24 6681411111 Thailand 53:48 $27.30

I'd think that'd be a fair enough way for them to see that she calls.

If not, just add it to your letter. "Audy and I have agreed that I will call her at 7:00 pm CST because it is 7:00 am for her, and she is awake and available at that time." or something along those lines.

Have her write her own letter, too, just to be safe. Thai is fine. English is fine. Whichever she's more comfortable using to express her feelings in. I'm the USC, born and raised here, but when it comes to feelings, even I prefer Thai because it expresses just what the difference between upset and mad really is. But that's just my preference. You and Audy may be different.

@ TheBears, I want to thank you for two very good postings. I have found the information in both very useful.

She calls occasionally but I do not answer, so I save her from paying however many Thai baht for calling the USA even for less than one minute. I know her call means to call her, or to go to the computer to chat. I can tell based on the time here in the USA. Occasionally she will send a text message if she needs something else.

I am thinking of asking her if I can answer the call. Then it will show up on my phone bill. Now, the unanswered calls do not show up. I can do the same as you. Answer for 30 seconds then call her back. And then she will want me to send her some more money. LOL.

I definitely agree with you about using Thai to express your feelings. I have never seen a language that used "heart" to describe every possible type of feeling, jai dee, jai dum, jai noi, jai ron, jai yen, jai yai. jing jai, dee jai, etc...

Thanks very much.

Rob

Finally it came down to my chats not having all the text, and not showing calls originating from her to me.

@ AaronLV

I know we discussed this before, but they objected to the chats not having all the text because you omitted portions that discussed very intimate matters or maybe discussing the Embassy and interview itself? Is that right?

Did they finally just accept the edited chats?

I don't know why you need to show calls from her to you. There will not be any for us as we have fixed calling times everyday of the week. I always call her for financial reasons as is obvious. We have additional fixed chat times on the weekends. There is rarely a need for her to call me. When she does need to talk to me, she calls, I let the phone go unanswered and then I call her or go to the computer for chat.

Why do you think I will need to show that she calls me even if it is unanswered? My phone does not store that many unanswered calls.

Thanks if you can answer any of this.

She didn't ask much about our relationship because we front-loaded the application with tons of
emails & chats. She was only asked the "pro forma" questions about our relationship.

So when you mailed in the DS-2001 checklist or letter of readiness with all the forms and documents, did you also mail in the Evidence of Relationship?

I was reading the Packet 3 online from the Bangkok Embassy and it seems you need to mail in ALL forms and documents with the checklist of readiness except they say you do not need to mail in the Medical Results nor Evidence of Relationship.

I got a little more insight into Teaw's interview on 3-24 when we chatted tonight. She had 3 people interviewing her...2 farangs and a Thai lady.

They asked her: how her friend that introduced us in jan 2008 knew me, how we first met, when we have been together, did she know I was getting married in Sep 08, did she know my ex wife, did she know her name,
how she felt about me having a Thai wife...I assume back in 08...and get this....the Thai lady wanted to know when we had sex!!!! Since when is your personal life subject of an interview to that degree? Anyway,
she said they asked her a lot about the ex wife. There may have been more questions that she didn't remember. Oh, and yes, they asked her why she types emails and chats in English and she told them we talk in
English and she uses dictionary when we chat.

Well Tom, this does not seem good. Not matter how unprofessional the Thai interpreter was, there is not much you can do. I thinkk the Embassy has questions of the Relationship and how and when it evolved. I guess that is kind of obvious.

Wait out the AP and then make your decision based on their decision. Sorry I do not know what else to say.

@Tom - I am not saying this has anything to do with the possible AP at all, but I am wondering, you and Teaw probably communicate and correspond in English, is that correct? And did Teaw mostly interview and answer questions in English or did she ask them to speak in Thai?

Again, I am not thinking this is at all related to your situation, but I am wondering partly because of the posting a few pages back by "TheBears."

Thanks

I understand. It would be nice if they would just say hey, what happened to the marriage and why was the divorce done in Oct and then you filed? Then I would send them several pages of explanation of all that
happened and how Teaw and I picked up when the other went south. I am hoping my email will get them to maybe ask without directly asking them if they would like to know more about it. But I appreciate any and
all input I can get and thoughts on why they are taking their time reviewing it. And I hope they do it quickly. The thing is, they just told her they wanted more evidence of the relationship so we gave it to them.

Hi Tom, I am sorry it has not turned out the way we were expecting. I do not have any idea what they can be thinking at the Embassy. I hope it does not go on too long.

Good luck.

I was hoping I'd hear something Tuesday but it turns out that it's a friggin Thai holiday

And then they are closed for 3-4 days next week for Songkran.

I knew about Songkran but I did not know about today. Audy works for the Public Health Center and she has to work the holidays that occur during the weekdays. So she is working Tuesday in Thailand. She also is working all of Songkran by herself.

Our packet is on the way to the Embassy as of today according to NVC. I hope it gets to the Embassy OK with Songkran happening next week and the Embassy closed. I think Audy said Songkran is from the 13th to the 16th but I am not sure what days the Embassy are closed. They have it good at the Embassy because they take off American Holidays and Thai Holidays.

I hope Teaw gets her Visa Wednesday as I am sure you are right, they will want to clear out many pending matters before Songkran.

I was expecting them to spend a few minutes going through the materials and then approve the Visa. I am a little disappointed. I will make sure Audy goes in from the start with everything we have for the relationship.

I think it is a very good sign they took her passport and phone number. I am predicting nothing but the best coming very soon. Good luck.

everything she can think of and some other stuff to give to them so we can hopefully get her visa and get her over here.

Su and I were married at the Thai temple today. Very small service, just two witnesses, 1 monk, and Su and I. We already had the excessively large engagement ceremony last month in Thailand "Whew!". What I'd really like to know is, is there any reason to notify the Thai embassy, or register our marriage at the Amphur when we return on vacation later this year?

I know I will inform the Royal Thai Consulate in Los Angeles when Audy and I marry here in the USA this year. I believe there might be some benefit to sending a copy of your marriage certificate to the Royal Thai Consulate/Embassy in Los Angeles. Please search for the web site and they talk about it on that site.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSAWASDEE 3 (2009 Thai thread restarted)

Oh, I have plenty of one handed pics of us but when you take those they are usually too close to show the background that you may want to include in it. But when Teaw had her first interview on 3-24 there were three people there, two faranga...man and lady...and a Thai lady who was the interpreter. They asked her why she could not answer most of the questions in English since she apparently could type English fairly well and asked her who typed her emails for her. Well, gee, folks, I have talked online to many Thais who can type English much better than they can speak it. I think they are just not busy enough this time of year. She talked to them for 45 min. and they still wanted more evidence of relationship. She goes back Monday with a ton more stuff for them and hopefully they will be satisfied with it. It's been a pain for her to get 3 months of phone records
from AIS, which is as far back as they will go.

This is exactly what I don't like. When we take the one handed pictures, you do not get any background. So we have one handed pictures at Suwannapoom Airport but it is just Audy's head and my head. Then we have pictures from Chiang Mai airport. Same, just our heads. You can't tell the difference between airports based just on our heads. Fortunately I kept the boarding passes for our flights.

Audy reads and writes better than her listening. But I call her every morning her time. I hope the Embassy is a little busier by the time it is Audy's turn.

When Jum went for her interview on Monday, she said they were only interested in the pictures. During her interview, the interviewer didn't even look at anything else but the pictures. However, we did have about 2000 or more pages of evidence with her (phone bills, MSN, mail, etc)

I just got back from two weeks in Thailand to visit Audy. We took pictures in Bangkok, Nakhon Pathom, Chiang Mai and at the Lampang Elephant Conservation Center. We only have a few photos from our first visit since we were concentrating on each other and not the stupid camera. So we have many pictures over two visits.

I have over 300 photos taken by relatives and friends from several cameras of the Formal Engagement Ceremony but I decided not to use any of those. Audy RENTED a classic white American Style wedding dress for the Engagement ceremony. I am worried about showing those three hundred photos at the interview as I have already asked here on VJ about that raising a red flag that we got married, which we didn't.

Audy is really upset that I do not want her to use the photos. We had a SMALL argument over this. :crying:

You want to make sure the phone bills show communication going both ways. When we went through they made us come back and show that she calls me. I basically had to extract all my miss call information off of my cell phone, and show that she was calling me. She would call and hang up (since it was free), and then I would call back at on the calling card.

I do not believe. Why would they do this. We have a set time when I call her every day. She does not need to call me separately during the day.

Why is this so difficult.

Unfortunately for us, they wanted more proof of relationship so she is going back Monday the 5th with about 300 emails, 130 some odd pages of chats, a ton of pictures of everything imaginable...vitamins I brought her on a visit, keychains I got her at different airports....all with little notes on
them....and the receipt for the engagement ring I had made and gave her in Dec that she FORGOT to give them at the interview!!! I told her to put that on top of the stack Monday!!

I also have a concern about this (proof of relationship) as my fiancee is not much on writing emails. They are short and business-like when she does write them. But I call her every morning. I have photos with her family from my second visit. I hope my telephone bill will lend some support. I also bought Audy the engagement ring on this last trip this month (March) and we kept the receipt from a gold shop in MBK. I also bought her more engagement jewelry which is shown on the receipt. Yes, I paid "thong mhand." We chat on weekends so I have those logs. I have sent her flowers once. We sent electronic greeting cards on Valentine's day. She has enrolled in English classes since we engaged to improve her English, etc... I am not sure if this is enough.

Out of curiosity, what exactly is included in the POE package? Jum said that her package is 3 times the size as everyone else who picked up their visas at the same time as hers and we don't know why hers would be bigger.

I believe everything you submit starting with the I-129F petition and on to the Visa interview is in the POE Packet, so if you submitted copies of many pages of documents of an ongoing relationship not returned to you at the interview, those would be in your POE packet.

Hi Tom. This is great, it helps a lot. We have gotten NOA2 but the packet has not had time to even get to the NVC yet.

1) Did Teaw need to take a Packet 3 letter from the Embassy in BKK or a copy of NOA2 ???
2) Did she just walk in and ask to be updated on all vaccinations ?

Audy is in the same situation. She has no childhood records. Someone said they can check the blood stream to see what immunizations she has had, then give the proper immunizations. I am wondering if they need to know it is for a US Embassy K-1 interview???

Thanks a lot.

The most important photos are the ones with you tow in them, taken at different times, not just a series of photos from a single day.

Yes, that is a good point. We will be together for two weeks. After the ceremony in her hometown we will go to Chiang Mai for a week as that is one place I want to see that I have not been to yet. We will be taking pictures everyday, in different clothes, in different places.

But I was only asking about the one day of the engagement ceremony.

Thanks

I didnt include mine.

Are you having a traditional Thai engagement party? becasue a lot of time Thais do engagement and wedding following it. If you plan on attaching some picture, make sure it's only during the showing and accepting of the 'sin sod' - those are engagement. If you ever have to sit and reciev water blessing from relatives, that's the wedding part and should not be included.

Have fun in Thailand!!

Hi Anya D, thanks. I think we will take all the pictures and then decide after looking at them if they might look like part of a wedding ceremony.
We are NOT having the water blessing or any part of the wedding.
My fiancee has never been married before though and she is very excited. She is also going crazy making elaborate Engagement ceremony plans. We started with 5 people (just her closest relatives) at her house and now we are up to 40 people at a special banquet room followed by a big lunch. Funny the way that happens. I am happy for her. She is so excited.

I think the more important photos might be when we buy the ring, or I give her the ring and other Thong Mhand. But I will stay away from any part of the ceremony.

Thanks all

Sawasdee thread seems quiet.

I will be going to Thailand in 10 days to have the Formal Engagement ceremony. My fiancee calls it the "phitee mhand (mun)." She seems to be making it more and more formal than I first thought. We want to take pictures and were going to use a lot of the photos for the Evidence of ongoing relationship at the Embassy interview.

My question is, has anyone used pictures of their Engagement Ceremony (phitee mhand) at the Embassy? Was there any confusion that it might be looked at as a Wedding by the COnsular Officer.

I am thinking one or two pictures are good like me giving her the gold engagement ring (thong mhand) and a few pictures of us with her mother and brother.

I have a concern about -photos from the restaurant dinner afterwards and maybe even some from the Ceremony itself.

We blocked out stuff (as was said it was ok to do from this site), and then ended up having to come back with the chat logs unblocked. I went through and edited the chats to remove anything very personal, or what might have been questionable that a 3rd party might read and not understand the context.

I'm sorry. I am not sure I understand. You had blocked some parts of the chat logs, but then had to take chat logs with all parts unblocked.

For all Thai K-1's. When you submitted documents to the Embassy in Bangkok for proof of "ongoing Relationship" or "Evidence of Relationship" such as Email exchanges and Chat message logs, did you mark through certain lines of the email or chat where you might have been discussing some personal items with your fiance(e)?

I thought it was written by the Embassy that you are allowed to obscure any particulary personal statements (e.g. discussion of past or future love making sessions) but I have not read anything like that recently.

I think I can handle letting them read it, but I am not sure Audy wants them to read it nor do I think they want to read it.

What have you been doing in that regard???

It was only required for woman under 26 when the rule was in place.

Oh, OK. Then that was certainly more reasonable as it does not make sense to get the HPV vaccination if you are over 26. But still, there is some controversy about it so I think it is best to allow the lady to make up her own mind if it is appropriate or not.

I like how the people in the Sawasdee thread come together and have a nice, friendly, open and adult discussion. The topic starts with questions on the medical for BKK and we end up discussing HPV vaccination. I will learn a lot from everyone.

According to the CDC web-site, it seem both forms of the vaccine, Gardasil and Cervarix are safe. It is recommended for women in the age range of about 9 to 26 years of age with ideally vaccinating young girls in the 11 and 12 year old range.

My fiancee is 37 years old. I do not think it is right for her. We are monogamous and both disease free. I think we are OK on this.

Thanks for everyone's comments.

I am surprised between what is written on the US BKK Embassy web-site versus what everone is saying. I am glad I asked. We will prepare for doing the vaccinations.

***
So my final question is: Did anyone else have a fiancee or are you a fiancee that had no records of vaccinations from your childhood. Audy has asked her mother and looked through everything in the house. She has no vaccination records. What do they do when you do not have any vaccination records??? Do you need to get all vaccinations again???

Thanks to everyone for your help and I hope you all have had a good journey and find a good life in the USA with your loved one.

I have questions about the medical for the BKK US Embassy.

Under the Embassy Info section of VJ, I went to Thailand's Embassy.

1) Someone wrote Jan. 2010 Bumrungrad Medical and 2 shots, on a Sat. done in 1 day. about 10,000B took 8 hours.
Are they all about 8 hours? Does the medical exam during the week normally take more than one day ? Are they all about 10,000 baht? Or is this because it was done on a Saturday?

2) The web-site for the US Embassy in BKK says they do not require current immunizations. But they say you do need them for AOS, so it might be a good idea to get them done. Does anyone know if this is correct, immunizations are not required by the US Embassy in BKK.

On the page at the following link
http://bangkok.usemb...ncee-visas.html

It says

As a fiancé(e), you are not required to fulfill this requirement at the time of your medical examination for a fiancé(e) visa. However, you may want to do so. These vaccinations are required when you adjust status following your marriage.

My fiancee does not have any of her childhood vaccination records.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOther Forms to Fill out After NOA2
The idea is the Alien Beneficiary is the Applicant for the visa and therefore the Beneficiary should fill out the forms DS-230 Part I, DS-156, DS-156 and some Embassies/Consulates want DS-157.

But in many cases the Beneficiary might not have a good grasp of the English language. In such cases it is perfectly acceptable for the USC Petitioner to fill out the forms on behalf of the Alien Beneficiary.

Not all (actually not many) actually send out a Packet 3 of forms. Many see to see the web site of the Embassy/Consulate and provide a link for going to the forms. I woukld not use the forms provided by VJ. I would first go to the Embassy/Consulate that will be conducting the interview to see if there is a link to Packet 3 or K Visa Appointment Packages.

If not, then I woul go to the Department of State web site as that is where you must fill out Form DS-156 the new electronic form filled out online, submitted and returned in a few minutes with a barcode.

Good luck.

The date should always be the date the form is completed, the letter is written or the check is filled out.

There is absolutely no requirement that all the dates match or the date must be the date of submission.

Write the current date.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresThailand K-1 Visa & political demonstrations
Hi Ryan,

I am also a K-1 Thailand. I sent my petition to CSC same as you did. Is your listing correct that the I-129F petition was sent to the California Service Center. If that is correct, then you should be do to hear something very soon. CSC has been averaging about 55 days from NOA 1 to NOA 2.

I am going to post the link to the US Embassy Bangkok, Packet 3. If you want to keep busy to help pass time, you can look through the papers and documents at this link. This has a list of everything you and your fiancee need to do when your I-129F has been approved.

Stop by the Sawasdee 4 thread in this forum that TheBears mentioned also posted the link.

Good luck.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresproof of ongoing relationship
If you are submitting it to USCIS along with the I-129F petition, it must be translated into English. However those types of documents are not needed by USCIS for ajudication of the I-129F.

Proof of an ongoing relationship is required for the Embassy/Consulate interview.

Some people suggest if you have a very difficult Embassy/Consulate to deal with, then you might want to send those documents along with the I-129F petition. Then they might be forwarded to the Embassy/Consulate. There is one member that says Ecuador is Extremely difficult as are many Sub-Sahara African Embassies and some Middle Eastern and Northern African Embassies/Consulates.

Good luck

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresEarnings and Leave Statements?
If your income is currently at 125% of the poverty line, you do not need to list the assets. They are not interested in that unless you are using assets to cover a shortfall in income to reach the 125% of the poverty level. If you are at or above the 125% line, you do not need bank statements or 401K listings or anything of that sort.

You can call the IRS at 1-800-829-1040 and go through the automated system to request a tax transcript for 2008 (and even 2009 if you want) which makes the W-2 unnecessary. I believe if you are in a hurry to get the form you can have it faxed to you within the next business day.

I just had three years mailed out to me and it took 10 days to receive them.
