Canada	K-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal	I hope for your sake you get an interview. April 25 was our first date choice, but then when we started looking at how long the process takes we moved the date to June, then my matron of honor told me her baby was going to be born that day, and now our date is July 11, 2010 which I am hoping will fit in with interview process at Montreal. Canada	K-1 people waiting for interviews at Montreal	I called NVC this morning and my petition hasn't been entered in their system yet . I was hoping it was already there because next Monday is a federal holiday and I wanted the package to make it to Montreal when the office is open. The DHL packets of late have only been 2 pounds so hopefully they aren't getting too much new mail. There was one just before New Years was 9 pounds though. Canada	K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!	My fiance' just called and said he is just west of Toronto but some accident was holding up traffic. Hopefully in another 3 hours he will be in Port Huron. Seems this accident is still holding him up. He just called again, this time from near exit 295 Guelph so it will be 2.5 hours before he gets to Port Huron. Hopefully it will be here on Friday so my fiance' and I can get the things before the July 4 holiday weekend. Canada	K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!	I seriously have to laugh! My fiance' booked 10 feet on the ABF "terminal-to-terminal" moving service. Today he and 6 of his buddies packed up the truck. He had gone in on Friday to figure out which trailer was his and make sure they had it unlocked so he could load today when his friends could help. He said they "tetrised" everything into place from floor to ceiling and it only took between 5 and 6 feet. Wohoo! That will mean $41 less times 4 from the original quote. Canada	K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!	Actually, after looking more closely at everything, I think we might be POEing at Port Huron on the 30th too! Could end up being a VJ party at the border. lol My fiance' thinks he will be at the border at about noon then to my( I mean our) place by 3 p.m. Ah, I am anticipating seeing him so much and knowing that he is finally HOME!! Tonight he is having a going away party with his friends in Kingston, packing up his things tomorrow with ABF, then chilling at his empty apartment overnight so he can go back to his former workplace for his ROE (if the office manager is out of the hospital and back to fill it in for him, she was sick last week), then he is going to do his Employment Insurance paperwork and get that process going before heading to his parents for a day before coming to Michigan. I can hardly believe it is 15 days until my wedding. I shake my head in disbelief even now. I think I will be jumping for joy and crying and all sorts of other emotions when my fiance' finally arrives. Next step, GET MARRIED then onto Adjustment of Status before we head out of town on a honeymoon. Might as well let the government process paperwork for him while we are enjoying ourselves! Thankfully Ron is moving to me. I have a 2 bedroom house which makes for a lot of space to "store" things because of a full basement and attic. Where are you POEing, Kizza? If I remember right, Supportgeek is going through Port Huron/Blue Water Bridge just like my fiance' so hopefully the border guards there will be in lots of practice for doing the K-1 visa activation. Im planning my POE on the 30th too I dont think Im close to packed, sucks doin it yourself! My fiance' has a tiny one bedroom basement apartment. A true bachelor with not a lot of stuff so it was pretty easy for him to pack it up. I had a few questions and hoped someone could give me some insight. 1st, not sure what all the codes are that people are using.....what are all the packages? We sent our 129-F in, on Dec.7th they received it. In May, we received notice that our visa was approved. June 2nd, we receive a letter saying that our stuff was sent to Montreal and we should wait. It also said that I (the one moving to the States), would be receiving a packet with instructions. As of today, we still have not received anything....when I called the Montreal consulate, it said there's a wait of 5-7 months.....is that really how long it will take to receive my interview??? Can anyone explain what my next steps will be??? Thank you....this is taking so long and it is so confusing! First off, welcome and yes it is a bit confusing but read around the Canada forum and most of your questions will get answered (although you will see that a LONG wait is to be expected). It will likely be 4 or 5 to 7 months from your NOA2 (the petition approval notice you got in May) until your interview will be scheduled. My NOA2 date was in January and we had a May interview date. It took about 4 weeks after the NOA2 before my fiance' (the Canadian) received his packet 3 information from Montreal. It could take longer since it seems Montreal has slowed down with K-1 processing. Right now there are a bunch of people who have sent back their packet 3 materials and had them opened and "logged" by Montreal that are waiting for interview dates. Check out this packet 3 information in the Canada wiki in order to have all your papers and forms ready to mail back once you have the packet 3 from Montreal. The faster you return it, the faster you are put in the queue to get an interview date. Browse the whole page for lots of good information just be sure it is over Montreal, not Vancouver since the processes are a bit different for K-1 visa applicants. Canada	K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!	I know they said up to 2 weeks for delivery, but it seemed recently they were getting them in the mail in a couple days. Till me, 7 days later, and still no hits on the tracking number, how disappointing Although it does seem they put them in the mail sometime on Fridays for some odd reason. It took longer for my fiance's package to get back. They put it in the mail the next Monday a week after his interview, then it arrived at his workplace on Tuesday morning and he is in Ontario so it didn't have far to go. Since Monday is a U.S. holiday, maybe next Tuesday? I totally stressed for the whole week checking Canada Post. I was on edge the whole time. My fiance' was much more "relaxed" about it. I can't wait to be married in 45 days. I haven't seen my fiance since the interview date and I won't again until June 4 when I am done with all my teaching assignments for the year and can head to Canada to help him pack. I have my interview on june 14th, so Im not sure what will happen. grrrr. Im thinking I might be ok, since it says 131$ on my interview letter. It wouldnt be fair to say I owe 350$ when I show up if they have told me it was 131$ already. The wording is funny, t could mean when we apply, at the interview, or when we apply, thruoght the ds-160 form. So I'll be curious to see what happens after the 4th.... Stand on the left side of the door with your backs to the big yellow barricades so the trucks don't hit the building that are a little bit to the left of the doors. They open the right door to let you in, and you don't want to be behind the door. My fiance' and I arrived at 6:30 a.m. and were second in line. No one else came until 7 a.m. It is your call. Who knows when people will arrive tomorrow. If you need to use the restroom while you wait, you can go around to the front of the building on Rene-Levesque and ask the receptionist for a key to the "washrooms". I think my fiance' went 3 times he was so nervous. Just make sure you leave your fiance' in line while you go (or you stay while he goes). After a whirlwind experience at the bank in which I proved to be an EPIC amount of FAIL, I have our visa fee in exact change, and then I went to Staples and got photocopies of his birth cert and police cert, then stopped by Pita Nutso and got something DELICIOUS to eat (thought about running into Tim Horton's for some timbits, buuuut I can get those later LOL) and now I'm home. That's the most productive I've been ALL WEEK! All we have left to get is the mailer! (I'm really, really trying to stay calm and collected. I don't think I'm fooling anyone. Are you guys fooled? LOL ) Glad you have exact change! Remember not to wait in the "long" line that comes off the elevator just after your fiance' gets called to one of the windows in the "back". Though I have to say, the male from the couple who were interviewed before me let out a huge sigh, presumably of relief, when they came out, he was waving an orangish slip around so I guess they got approved? Neither of them looked especially happy. Maybe I wasn't only one given a hard time yesterday. I think my fiance' just received a white sheet of paper with K-1 instructions. Canada	K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!	My fiance' took me to "La Belle Province" for Poutine. Wow, definitely get the "regular" (i.e. smallest) size. It was huge. It tasted pretty good. I couldn't finish the bowl of poutine though he finished the Large platter of poutine he had. We actually ate in Lachine at the "La Belle Province" there (about 30 minutes into the suburbs). The Chinese restuarant that is one street east of the intersection of Rene-Levesque and St. Alexandre has really good food. It didn't open until 11:30 a.m. though. We went shopping for awhile on St. Catherine street while we waited for the restaurant to start serving lunch. Canada	K-1 May interviews Montreal !!!!	My fiance' has his visa in hand after just one day in the Canada Post system. It arrived today a little bit before 11 a.m. Tracking said it was out for delivery at 9:09 a.m. I called him at about 11:45 a.m. and he said he had put the package in his car and would open it at home. He hasn't told his boss that he is leaving yet It took 7 days for the package to be put in the mail though in Montreal but it is extra special that he received it today because it is 2 months until we get married on July 11, 2010.
