K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	October 2009 K-1 Visa filers	We have yet to receive packet 3 from the consulate in Tirana. My fiance is an Albanian citizen currently living in Italy and wants to interview at the consulate in Naples. Are changes in consulate allowed at this point? I emailed the Naples office and have not had a response yet. He's willing to fly back to Albania for the medical exam and interview, but it would save lots of money if he could stay in Italy. He had the packet downloaded and filled out previously, so literally all he had to do was print, date and sign it, and he had it faxed back to them within 10 minutes! w00t!!! The Vancouver consulate is closed for the Olympics (2 weeks), but we are in the hopes that he MIGHT get his interview date assigned before their closing time tomorrow. Fingers crossed!! Hooray! I hope John gets his interview date set. Too bad the Olympics came to Vancouver this year! I was hoping my fiance' would have his in his mailbox today (it has been in Montreal 21 days now...) but no such luck. But he is coming to visit for the long weekend (Yeah for Family Day in Ontario) so it is some consulation. BUT I WANT HIS PACKET 3 TO ARRIVE SO WE CAN SEND BACK ALL THE REQUIRED DOCUMENTS AND GET IN LINE FOR A MONTREAL INTERVIEW! I WANT TO GET MARRIED! Why do I have to call the NVC it says on the NOA2 that they will send us a notification when they receive our case, so why do we have to call? I'm confused... You don't "HAVE" to call NVC. They will send you a hard copy letter saying when they mailed out your package to your consulate. I called just because I wanted to know when they mailed my package so I could "guess when it arrived" based on the dhl.com website. You can wait. No big deal. Still waiting on our packet 3 from the Montreal consulate (it arrived there on Jan. 22). If the fee is still $131 we will rejoice, but if it is $350 then we know we have it covered. His interview is set for March 11, 2010 at 8:30 am. We have some of his stuff done, but we are going to call tomorrow to make an appointment for his medical exam. But as long as I get to marry my fiance' on July 11, 2010 I DON'T CARE HOW MUCH IT COSTS because finding the PERFECT MAN FOR ME is PRICELESS! Non-immigrant visa fee increase I haven't seen anything yet. My fiance' will likely get stuck with the higher fee since we have a 4 to 6 month wait for the Montreal consulate for an interview but it is NOT confirmed anywhere that I have seen. I am going to keep checking the Department of State website about news. Until I see something published there, then I know it is still $131. Except for the fact that it has my full name, first middle and last, it is so plain. It isn't like the "fancy" paper I received my NOA1 and NOA2 on. I am hoping my fiance' it in his hands in 21 days or less (seems to be the going rate for Montreal interview prospects with K-1's) so according to the date calculator I use Add or Subtract from a Calendar Date he should have the package 3 list of documents to fill out and return by Friday, Feb. 12, 2010. That would be perfect. There is an online form with a bar code thing that I didn't want to fill out and print for him until he had his packet 3 list. It is any petitions that are being sent to a particular consulate. I know MY PETITION wasn't more than a pound all by itself, unless USCIS has it in some huge folder or something. I am betting my package is more likely the one that went out Jan. 20 though, because on Tuesday morning, the people at NVC said that my petition wasn't complete in their computer systems. I wonder if it will get delivered today or not? Hum. edit: Looks like a shipment that was delivered on 1/20/10 was signed for at 4:23 p.m. so there is still hope it makes it there today! Yeah! Put in the following EXP 20 JAN 2010A and change the date to whatever date the NVC tells you your package was sent out. Seems like Montreal gets a package every day. Some are heavier than others. I clicked on one that was going to Manila once, though, it was about 72 pounds or something. You just need to call 603-334-0700, then press 1 for English and press 5 for a human (because the K-1's aren't put in the automatic response system for some reason) and have your case # from your receipt letter, the beneficiary's name and birthdate and your name and birthdate and they will give you NVC case number. You can ask when they expect to send it to the embassy and with that information it is possible to use dhl.com to "guess" what shipment it was in. Good luck! Yes, that phone number is what I have on my "cheat sheet" about how to determine when my petition gets forwarded to the embassy. (I had called at about 8 a.m. on Tuesday and it took me awhile to get through to someone but I haven't tried since then). It is found at http://www.visajourn...howtopic=221572 Seems Vermont has slowed down their processing of K-1 visas right now. Don't know about the issues with your location and your citizenship. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports	October 2009 K-1 Visa filers	The interview for the K-1 visa occurs for everyone at the consulate in the country your fiance'/fiancee is coming from. The USCIS "interview" may occur too although I haven't heard of anyone getting an interview at that step. First stop is USCIS where they basically look at paperwork and do a background check on the U.S. citizen's name, then the second stop is the National Visa Center where a number is allocated for the visa and another background check on the U.S. citizen's name is done, then the petition goes to the consulate in country of the fiance'/fiancee where there is an interview with supporting documentations like medical report, police certificates, etc. Your fiance' (or fiancee, I can't remember your gender) will definitely be interviewed in their country of origin.
