K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportsfile still not at NVC!!!
We were touched on 01/06 and when my fiance called the NVC, they said our file was sent to the Consulate in London on 01/07.. we never recieved any letter from them saying that they had gotten our file or anything.

I've seen others touched before their file was sent out too.

So don't panic. I would try calling again.

I'm so happy for you, Kim.

I'll be leaving the US in a week and I'm already terrified of the ride to Logan and after-effects. Reading about you guys helps me remember what it's for.

Ahhh a Bostonian accent!

Bill doesn't have one for some reason! His parents and everyone around us does though. I find it wicked funny!

And Kim, he says that my English accent comes out when I'm angry too. laughing.gif (...Bill, not Russ!) Other than that, it's a "soft English" accent, until I get annoyed...

If I die, survive me with such sheer force
that you waken the furies of the pallid and the cold,
from south to south lift your indelible eyes,
from sun to sun dream through your singing mouth.
I don't want your laughter or your steps to waver,
I don't want my heritage of joy to die.
Don't call up my person. I am absent.
Live in my absence as if in a house.
Absence is a house so vast

Absence is a house so transparent

I'm not having it in the UK.

More expensive than in the US, plus I simply don't want it; it's only needed for AOS and hopefully there'll be a way to refuse it by then; if not, I'll do it in the US.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsThe waiting
We try to visit each other, but sometimes it's not possible with work, money and US restrictions on how often you can stay/visit.

During those times, we talk every night on the phone, we send text messages. I spend all of my time with my friends at night and work during the day on university projects. If I do have free time, I visit VJ where I feel some support, do some reading or drawing, watch a movie, and count down until the month is over.

It's very very hard.. but others have it harder than myself, being from countries where travel isn't possible, and I also think of that.

Secondly, I'm sure everything will be fine. It's annoying as hell having to be dumped in something like that right now, but at least you know your visa is all approved and you're waiting on them to confirm a few annoying things!

Your wifey and children will soon be flying home to you forever. Keep us updated please.

Congrats for getting your almost-wife through everything, Maliciant, and welcome her to America from us all. smile.gif Your journey seemed very quick and painless, though I'm sure at the time it didn't feel that way at all!

I've had my vaccinations (turns out I only needed one on that list) and got a paper copy from the nurse. I have my medical exam booked for next Wednesday. I'm still waiting to send back packet 3 for the interview appointment though, because Bill and his co-sponsor weren't able to get their taxes filed yet.. in fact, as per usual, his boss isn't doing a damn thing due to personal problems. So we're waiting on them to be filed before booking the appointment to make sure we're ready.

Bill is coming over this Saturday, I'm picking him up from London at 4:30am (ouch).. we really need the visit more than ever, I feel completely numb after everything we've gone through lately and need him here to support me physically and remind me why we're going through so much tape. The difference in how I feel now versus a month or two ago is astonishing, it's amazing what a process like this can do. I feel that if we hadn't waited 5 years to even start, we would've been stronger, but I'm worn out. He's coming to the medical with me but probably won't be here for the interview as London takes ages for that (couple of months).

I'm checking up regulary on you guys still waiting for the NOA2, I hope you all find some peace very soon..

Hey guys and girls.. we didn't do anything for Valentines Day but it doesn't bother me too much. I'm not just saying it, I really do see it as one of those holidays that celebrates romance that isn't even romance because it's a national thing! I much prefer doing things in our own time, that's much more romantic.

Having said that, I did get an e-card from Bill and I responded with one of my own about missing him. It has a cute little insect who is happy when the moon comes out, and says "With you, I am a glowworm"; the clouds come over and the moon disappears, then the bug cries and says "Without you, I am just a bug. Miss you so much." How adorable!

Bill might be coming over next week to England.. I've never needed him so much in our 5-6 year friendship/relationship, I'm finding everything really difficult what with the distance and also the pressures from everyone else around me and the visa process. I have my family angry and not wanting me to leave, my friends upset and not wanting me to leave, plus my own feelings about what I'm experiencing. I feel that the job-hunt is hopeless after over 2 years of looking. He won't be staying as long as usual because he still needs to go back and find that job, but at the moment, being together is the important thing. I just need a long cry in his arms, and to have him here as I go through some stuff.

I hope V-Day wasn't too painful for you all. Some of you have almost finished the process, others are still waiting on news.. I really hope you find it in yourselves to stay strong and keep the end in sight. smile.gif

Great to see some good news in this thread. Everyone said that it gets a lot faster after the approval, and they were right. You had nothing to worry about. smile.gif

Just letting you guys know that I'm not going to be as active in here. I'm going to be honest, it's difficult watching everyone set up medicals, interviews, and POE dates. I've been having a lot of personal problems lately, and don't even know whether the move is going to be June or July. Either way, it's hard watching everyone fly through, knowing I'll be the last one here.

We were approved on January 2nd and I've had Packet 3 with me for almost a month, but I'm still waiting on my vaccination records and injections which I tried to request about 3 weeks ago but because of the snow in the UK, have had to keep rescheduling my appointment. I finally got one for next week, but then found out that the nurse may not have access to my records which means I'll have to make yet another appointment afterwards. I don't live in that town anymore which means travelling every time.

This means it's going to take a while to even schedule my medical, let alone my interview. I'm guessing it will be in April, and then it's another 2-3 months until POE. Bill doesn't know when he's going to visit me because he still doesn't have a job, but even if he does, it's going to be hard crying and waiting after yet another visit while everyone has already moved. I hope you understand.

This thread has been such a great help to me, I never dreamt that I could find as much support when I started this process. I'm happy for all of you that are getting your visas and setting out dates, you deserve it. I'll pop in now and then to check up on people, and of course I'll be on Facebook too.

Welcome back Mia, you're a very positive person and it will pay off for you. The last goodbye.

That's good to hear, Cuchita. I've always been honest with the officers and said that I'm visiting my boyfriend/fiance and answered all of their questions openly. It's terrifying! Especially when they start asking further questions about your intentions and trying to find out what you know about moving. I always just say that I'm not moving until X time because I have Y responsibilities back home, and that seems to satisfy them usually.

Hope everyone is feeling OK, I'm hoping for you Dani and Mara.

ElleKelly, please also read the guides, as it's probably incredibly frustrating to others here that are still waiting for their approval and have done all their research to have someone approved just pop in with a dozen questions without doing any work. You need to research your own needs for your country, do some homework, etc.

The answers do depend on the consulate/country in question; that letter from the US embassy probably WAS your packet 3. It contains information on what to do next in order to prepare for interview. You schedule your own medical appointment, the packet should tell you how to do this.

**

Was snowed in this week so have another appointment for next week to (hopefully) get my injections and a vaccination record. No one at the office could tell me whether I needed to see a doctor or a nurse for this, so I chose the doctor and figured he's known me for years, should be able to get me what I need. Other than that, still waiting to do everything else until I have those updated vaccinations.

I'm glad your mother is doing better, HD. smile.gif
I'm also hoping Dani gets approved, Chris gets an answer very soon, Badgerella gets out of the black hole and MARM hears back about the RFE; i.e. an approval!

Congrats to those have have recieved their NOA2 or their visa.

Mara, I can't imagine how frustrating it must be stuck knowing NOTHING about your case. The only comfort I guess you can get is that you know you're definitely not lost in there, you are being processed or at least waiting to. Furthermore, Chris being a DC resident should (in my view) make it easier for him to get in contact with his congressman or get an answer from USCIS! I really don't know why it is that US citizens feel they have so many rights when all of this red tape is plastering every god-damn thing. I honestly think the UK citizen has more rights. Yes in comparison to other countries they have more rights, but again, in comparison to others, waiting months or years to bring loved ones over is ridiculous.

Caroline, I really hope you hear something soon. I know what you mean, when we started out, we said we would save money for the future but I can't go another 4-5 months without seeing him so we're looking at flights too.. sometimes it's better to grab some short-term happiness, have some time when you're not feeling so hopeless and empty.

Have a safe flight Maliciant, the interview will go smoothly, I'm sure. So here's my premature "congratulations" for ending this part of the visa journey. I have full faith that this is the end for the K1 stage for you.

I was supposed to be going to the doctors tomorrow to get my injections but because of how crappy the UK deals with extreme weather, everything has shut down because of the snow! I don't think I can catch a train anymore.. may have to re-schedule my appointment for next week, which is annoying because I can't do anything until I get those injections/vaccination record.

I'm so happy that NOA2s are flying in this thread, I'm crossing my fingers for Mara and Dani now. Come on girls!!

Terri, my family are originally from Pennsylvania too. My great grandmother moved to England and had her kids, and they remained here. Before I even met Bill, I was always proud of my heritage (as I'm descended from Native Americans) and so I do get a little kick out of moving there. Kinda like I'm moving part of the family home; though I'll always be a Brit first and foremost!

Beer pong is an American drinking that wikipedia can explain in much more detail than I ever could:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Beer_pong

When I was in the U.K. for the year- I was asked 2 questions about being an American on a weekly basis.
#1- How on earth could you yanks have voted for George Bush TWICE? (I wasn't old enough to vote!)
#2- Do you guys really drink out of those amazing red cups at parties like they do in the movies? Yes, yes we do.

I'll pass on the info about beer pong!

Yeah, Bill always gets asked why Americans voted in Bush twice.. as if HE is America or something. wink.gif He just stays calm and explains that it depends on states and whatnot.

Atlantagirl, thanks for the advice about the temp agency.. that's what we're relying on right now. One of the things that I've agreed is to be more positive for the future. So hey, something could turn up.

Badgerella, I really hope you break out of your AP hole soon. If it makes a difference, people aren't usually in there for *that* long and you'll be able to continue with the process and have the K1 before you graduate, I'm sure of it. It's just annoying right now because you don't know the status.

Mara, your own cup of sunshine is coming very soon. We'll all be cheering you on when you announce that you have the NOA2, don't worry. I know it's hard waiting, but it will all fade within time. I'm going to wear a bikini with the American flag on and my graduation hat; seeing as I may not get to the ceremony. smile.gif Having the party outside since it will hopefully be warm.

What is beer pong? We're already talking about getting Krispy Kreme donuts from a town away just for the party. I'm so excited about the idea of this party, though it will be emotional.

CONGRATULATIONS MIA!

Now we have another girl knocked down. We need Mara, Dani, Habibi, etc approved to top it off.

Just wanted to say thank you for the support, guys and girls. Me and Bill talked on the phone for over 6 hours last night about everything.. I showed him this thread after I explained in my own words how I felt, and we agreed that it was a case of being buried under a mountain of negatives. I was looking at months apart, all of the huge decisions I have to make about graduation and the wedding itself, missing my friends, not having any luck with the job (that was the biggest one, because without that, we can't have a comfortable future).. and there wasn't much positive things going on, I lost sight of the reason for doing this.

I feel a lot better about things, and even when I was explaining things to Bill about why I felt so bad and hopeless, he said he could tell that I still had my sights on our positive future together because I kept referencing the visa process and getting a car/job over there.

We've agreed to do the little things again, as suggested.

Bill has signed up to Facebook so that we can leave little messages and he can keep in contact with my friends and be involved more in our "circle".. we're going to start sending each other little things again, for example I wanted to draw him a picture/comic of everything that makes us laugh when we're together, and he said he's going to draw a surprise for me too.. we're going to try hard to get the money together for a trip in March so that we're not looking at 5 months of seperation.. he's spoken to his mother about other things that were bothering me, i.e putting pressure about having a religious wedding.. I'm going to spend more time talking to him rather than seeing my friends; and my friends are planning an AMERICAN THEMED PARTY for June so that I don't have to focus on the negative parts of leaving. smile.gif

I agree, very well said, things change constantly, from one point i find LDR to be a very good test for the love of two, i'm thinking, well if we can pass this, then we can pass everything, we are apat now, we meet other people, we think sometimes, why i cant find someone here, closer to me, no waiting, no visa stuff, and with this we do realize how much we love this person who's waiting for us, our lives could have been easier, but we choosed this way, because we believe in this, we believe our love will last forever and we believe this person is actually our SOUL MATE smile.gif I choosed how to live my life, i know what i want and need and i really feel at peace with me and the world around, other peoples life is going the way we want our to be, thats alright, let them be happy, we can do it too, our turn will come, we can have anything we want, life is a circle that rounds all the time, one day one is happy then next its you smile.gif

Very nicely said, I agree with you.

So many times I've been asked about finding someone local and I always say that it's not about finding someone that's convenient, it's about finding someone that you love. My dad still tells me that it's a "pity" that Bill lives in America and that it's a shame he isn't British, but I just tell him that this is the way things are, and I won't find someone like him, ever. This is the reason I've put so much of myself into this relationship.. I have to say, the seperation is a B$TCH and I never imagined that it could get harder as time goes on, but it can, and does. I really do want to stay strong through these times and do believe that I can find my way to bounce back.

Thanks Deneter and Freddy, I totally agree with you.

I honestly feel that it's a matter of being worn out by the cycle of waiting, happiness (visiting), depression (leaving), waiting more, etc. over the years. Especially now that I see others moving on in their relationship and we're in the same place. Especially now that it'####### the 2 year mark of getting nowhere with the employment.

Hopefully I'll hit another peak of strength soon.

Maliciant - We've talked about it, but the situation is the same here too. I'd need a full-time job and apartment by the summer and everyone has advised to keep with the plan of me moving there, especially since we've been approved already. Worst case, I can stay with him and his parents there. Here though, we'd have no back-up option. But aye, ee can always move back to the UK if things don't improve.

Thank you, girls..

Dani, I do want that, I really do.. it wasn't long ago that Bill told me to imagine the day where we're painting a room for a child, getting to plan all of that together, and I was so so excited.. since then though, I've just had all of the energy knocked out of me.

This is meant as no disrespect to you and Chris at all, but we never experienced these feelings within the first couple of years of our relationship, either. We were feeling positive and hopeful and happy.. but we're on our 6th year of knowing each other, our 4th year of having the endless visiting cycle, looking at our 11th goodbye at the airport, and even though the end is now in sight, I feel as though I'm running on empty. Perhaps this is a normal thing to feel when you've been doing it for so long, I have no idea.

We've been fighting for it for so long, just like everyone here, and this is the first time that I've felt so incredibly frustrated to the point where I don't even want to talk about it anymore, I don't even want to discuss what's wrong.. has anyone else experienced that? We've been fighting about the practical things of the move such as him getting the job. We've been waiting TWO YEARS for him to find a job that makes enough so that we can just live together alone and be a normal couple.. now I find that I'm not even listening when he tells me about his job-hunting plans because I have no hope that he'll find anything.

Terri, "robotic" is right on the mark. There are times I'm laughing with my friends, we're having tea together, watching a movie, playing a game.. and then I go home to call Bill, and it feels so robotic. Sometimes we've exhausted all of the conversations we can to make the situation better and the only thing that would work is a big cuddle. Sometimes I want to burst out crying too because I can't have him but feel there's no point, because I can't have a comforting hug. That creates more frustration because I think to how long we have left until we can have it, and see a giant question mark. The same thing happened as you, too; the moment we could be together and cuddle, everything seemed so small and we were able to deal with it.

I don't fear for the internal things of the relationship as such; I know that we love each other. I fear that the external things are tearing away at the energy needed for this journey to be complete until I have nothing left anymore, no desire to carry it on. As it is, I'm going to be reading this to Bill later, as I haven't been able to put into words why I feel so empty about the situation.

Thanks for your words, though.. I hope you girls are hanging in there (especially you Terri, you're so close!) smile.gif

Been feeling crappy lately.. even though we have the NOA2, our case is in London, and the medical/interview is waiting to be set up, I can't do anything about it yet cause I'm not going anywhere for a while.

I even find coming to VJ difficult nowadays because everyone is so excited for their special day coming along and know that it won't be happening for us anytime soon.. you guys have every right to be happy of course, and I'm happy for you ALL. It's just hard. A few of my friends have just moved into new apartments with their boyfriends and are all bubbly, talking about decorating and having their own time together. I am happy for them, but also envious; when will it be our turn? Someone else I know has been reunited with her American fiance after one month of applying for a visa. We're still kicking ourselves for going the UK-US route, hoping that Bill would have found a job and apartment by now, but no such luck. He's still applying to temp agencies, hoping they can find him *anything* that will be enough. For the first time, I'm questioning whether I want this enough to leave everything behind and move to the US where we have little chance of employment and an apartment.

It looks like I won't be seeing Bill for another 4-5 months too.. it's really putting a strain on our relationship at the moment. I just feel so tired of waiting and hoping, it's been 6 years since we met. So tired.. just feel the passion and hopes of being together are slipping away by the day as I watch everyone else bag the relationship goods. Is it normal to feel empty and no longer have much passion for the chance to be with the other, or is this something serious? I don't know.

Congrats on those that have been approved. Everything will go much faster from here. HD, schedule a medical exam and interview appointment. I called the medical place and they said they were only setting appointments for ASAP (not as far as March/April so I'll call back another time). Maybe yours will be the same, the Phillipines seems to be quite fast there.

Maliciant, you're right, sometimes you have to apply to jobs that you feel are beneath you to get by, and he's constantly going to shopping malls and hitting stores with applications, but never hears anything back. He's wondering if it's something to do with his resume or maybe him personally, but he is a really hard worker and I think he puts that across..

His field is actually I.T (technical support and web design); his job right now is getting lower and lower on hours. Sometimes he only gets about 3 hours a week.. a YEAR ago, his boss told him that he'd try to increase his hours if he's good enough and although he likes his work, he hasn't done that. Bill can't even contact him on a given day as his boss doesn't respond, just has to wait until his boss calls him for work.

Mara, I would personally wait until closer when she knows if she'll be able to make it. You want the dresses to be the same and Dave's Bridal is apparently great for cheap dresses, even at last minute. I know what you mean though, my family and friends don't know if they're coming either. It annoys me a little as I've been telling them to get passports and save for about 2 years.. now they're saying it depends on money and getting a passport, even though we're 5 months away to me leaving.. all because they didn't take it seriously and/or think about it properly.

HD - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I'm so happy for you girl, it's good to picture you smiling!! It only took 10-12 days longer than us, seemed like a lifetime, didn't it?! I guess this gives your man the strength he needed, huh?

Generally though I think america is still at a point where anyone who really wants to work and isn't too picky about the job can find work fairly quickly, the day mcdonalds isn't accepting applications is the day our economy is in serious trouble!

That also depends where you live and your background.

My fiance has been looking for a full-time job for about 2 years now and I can count on one hand how many times he's even gotten a response. He lives in the suburbs where there aren't many businesses and moving closer to the city isn't an option when you don't have the money to move (Catch 22). He's a college graduate too, but unfortunately no one will hire him in his field without experience (another Catch 22); and McDonalds won't take him because he's over-qualified and the liklehood of him leaving the moment a better offer (i.e. anything) comes in is way too high.

Simply put, you need to catch a lucky break sometimes.

I honestly think there's nothing wrong with files stuck at VSC. If you look at the chart that the guy posted in the other thread, it's just gone WAAAAY downhill since August, and apparently not even half of August filers are approved yet. It still sucks, but hoping it will make you guys feel better about whether or not someone has lost your file. It's still in that pile!

We were originally meant to file in June but we didn't have the money to file. Our packet was complete and sitting on a desk collecting dust for 2 months and everyday I could see that VSC were getting worse, that was horribly frustrating.

16 days since our file left NVC apparently.. everyone seems to have gotten their packet from the embassy by 7-10 days, so we might be calling up soon.

I'm going out today/tonight, so give me some good news when I get back, people! smile.gif

Thanks for the info, Maliciant, very helpful; but a few things for (UK) people to know from your post:

- The medical in the UK takes only an hour or so. No need for 2 days.

- You can't spot HPV as it's a virus that a lot of women already have.. it CAN lead to visible signs given the right circumstances such as warts, but the genital check is simply to make sure you have the right 'equipment'.

- UK medical requires chest X-ray too.

- You're not required to take a pregnancy test in the UK unless you're unsure when your last period was. You may have to take one then, before vaccinations are given. (But usually you've already had the required vaccinations as you can get them for free on the NHS)

- Maliciant is right, you'll be denied for drug usage, period / full-stop. smile.gif

Our case left the NVC 2 weeks ago.. haven't heard anything since.

I'm starting to get a little worried, if Royal Mail has another postal strike, I will actually march down there and yell at them.
