I'm honestly not trying to put out anyones fireworks here or take away any hope, but it's very unlikely we'll be getting any NOA2s in November, and especially October. They still have to process most of June and all of July, which puts us in the December/January slot. I understand that we all need lots of hope and optimism with this process but we also need a dose of realism or we'll have many disappointments to come. Still, by the time winter ends, we should all have our approvals and be moving on with the following steps. smile.gif

My timeline seems to have moved a lot recently. It began with December 6th and is now showing December 25th...

I don't think you're supposed to get an email with touches. Just for the NOA.

Congrats anyway though, it all adds up to feeling relieved and encouraged. smile.gif

*sniff sniff* it is really sad. I remember when I left my honey last June, we were both crying at the security gates of the airport...

Tell me about it. This is the 9th time of breaking down at the security gate... I hate that place!! sad.gif Bill makes me promise every time to be a good girl and get on the plane, and not to look back as I go through security. If I do, we both know I wouldn't be able to do it.

Luckily, my friends have all been waiting for me to get back to the UK (haven't seen most of them since June) and I have a lot of schoolwork to prepare for. I'm hoping it will be enough to distract myself until December. Then I'm going to try the POE again!! I know, I'm crazy...

Mara, it must be so hard living all of those miles away. I actually can't imagine not being able to visit the US for a year. Well done you for being so brave! I know you feel you have no other choice but in reality, everyone in this situation chooses to stay brave for the love they hold.

HD, it's a tough call whenever you try to get through POE, especially being as you're from the PI. Personally, I would get as much evidence as possible and take the risk. I was over the moon when I got over the border after all of the problems there. However, keep in mind that there is a chance you won't get through and that would be heartbreaking. It's all a big risk with big consequences either way. Let us know what you decide.

I hope people begin to recieve their NOA1's, those who haven't recieved it officially yet! Just remember, you're still an August filer and are in the pile.

I'm here!!

I left the US last night, arrived back in the UK today. I feel completely empty right now, all I want to do is cuddle into my fiance and cry. sad.gif I understand that I was very very lucky to get the opportunity to see him and that we ALL want to see our loves... it's just the immediate after-effects that suck. It takes a while to get used to being without him again.

I too hope we all get some touches this month, though I'm not too worrried if we don't as some people don't get any before approval. We're almost halfway through!

It didnt bring a smile thinking you have even longer to wait makes me sad.
Good luck with your journey, im just venting here as others are experiencing same thing.
friends not going through the visa nightmare dont understand how it feels to be apart from the one you love. and i do appreciate that some here have been apart longer than us.
We should have started this whole thing months/years ago but we worried bout having the right lawyer etc, had we known about this site prior to filing we wouldnt have used a lawyer at all and saved some money.

I understand.

As great as my friends are, they can never really understand what it feels like to have to put their relationship out there for others to judge and grant you the permission to be together. Or understand how heartbreaking saying goodbye is at the airport. I'm leaving on Wednesday and I'm terrified.

At least you've found VJ now though so you can use us as support.

Mara, I hope you get your hard copy very soon, at least you're getting somewhere with them! And know that your file is there. smile.gif

Hang in there, August filers!

Yeah it's because of school. I don't graduate from university until next summer so I can't just give it all up and move this close to the end. We're hoping he can fly over and come to my graduation and help me pack, then go back together. smile.gif

Poor you, Shanira! I hate that your file was so carelessly dealt with by officials and know how much I would resent them if they lost my file and kept me waiting another 2 months. Any possible visits for you?

Just stopping by to offer some encouragement to us August filers!

At the moment we're planning on me trying to get into the US again at Christmas. I've been extremely lucky getting in so many times with no problems (apart from this time). This will be visit number 7-10 depending if you count my old passport. I'm terrified of being denied entry but I'm not as strong as you guys... I just wouldn't function without a flight booked within a few months. We can but hope.
.
I've seen that June filers are being approved, that means our time is coming, even though it seems so far away. Guys, we're a month in already. smile.gif Another few weeks and half the time will have gone!!

Try and stay strong and support your loves.

I took:

- Return ticket
- Apartment contract
- Utility bills
- Student status / evidence

POE was actually extremely difficult for me this time, I'm not going to sugarcoat it. Usually I don't have any problems at all.

The officer asked why I was visiting and I said visiting my fiancee before school starts for the year again.. he asked if he was American and of course I said yes. He looked through my passport and instantly stopped what he was doing when he saw the amount of stamps arriving in Boston. He didn't even continue checking my fingerprints. He asked when we were getting married, where... how long I was here for in June, how come I'm missing a week of school to be here, if I have the right to work in the US, if my fiancee has the right to work in the UK, how we met, what he does for a living.. he asked to see my return ticket so I gave him that plus evidence of student status stating I was going back in October. He asked more security questions about what I had with me. Then he hesitated for a while and sighed but I answered all of his questions honestly and confidently even though I was an emotional wreck inside...

He stamped my passport but wrote a giant "A" on my visa waiver form... someone else asked me similar questions in the luggage room and then my case and bag were scanned. I was free to go, and I just fell into my fiancee's arms in the arrival room and cried!!

To be honest I think it was because I had around 6 stamps entering Boston for the past year and a half... one of them being 2 months ago. Bring lots of evidence and answer honestly... personally I think it's worth the risk of being denied entry. It's my worst nightmare... but I got through it and now I can't believe my luck that I'm here with my fiancee for a few weeks!!

Shanira / Louise?

I'm sorry to hear that your NOA1 still hasn't shown up... like the others said, at least you know your case is in storage. There are stories about people that never recieve a hard copy of the NOA1 but get approved just fine. I'm sure if you're able to sign in to the USCIS site, you'll see that your case is pending. Otherwise the check wouldn't have been cashed. I'm curious about why you can't get your case number though. Have you asked the bank about the number of the back of the cashed check?

Keep us posted and vent your frustration to us!

Awww shucks. blush.gif I feel a bit guilty because anyone could have told you, I'm not worthy!

Bill was the same. As we were getting the packet ready, he was all over the guides but he's not the type to come and post during the process, as much as I try and get him to do it. This is my Godsend though.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2008 Filers
laughing.gif No problem, I was asking in this thread too.

Are you Chris or Mara? USC or non USC?

Whoever the USC is, if you have an online bank account, you can get the case number from the back of the electronic copy of the check. If you don't have this (or just can't see it properly), see if you can call or visit the bank and ask them what the numbers are. It should start with three letters like EAC or WAC.

Once you have the number, you can go to the USCIS site, click on Case Status Online and use it to sign up and check.

Go look! smile.gif
GemmieFemaleUnited Kingdom2008-09-04 06:09:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAugust 2008 Filers
The number should be on the back of the check, or do what we did and contact the bank to ask what the numbers are. Then use them to see your case status online at the USCIS site.

I don't know if this has been asked before but since the check has been cashed, can you get the case number? That way you can sign on and see any touches and when they sent a notice.

Nice story, Mia! smile.gif

And your fiancee of course. God knows I have my share of rants at my own when there's nothing that can be done about the wait or the unknown. He handles it a lot better than I do. PLUS (and maybe this is just me).. I always find that time goes faster in the winter as it gets dark so early at night.

In the UK, it's only light from 8-4 some days! That makes me want to study more for some reason. A book on my lap, a cup of tea beside me and the phone by my side waiting for my daily US phonecall. smile.gif Before I know it, it's Christmas! And should be time for approvals!

Still haven't heard anything hence the reason why its been a while since Ive been on VJ. The lawyer got in touch with fiance almost two weeks ago and they said they will follow it up but STILL, we haven't heard anything!! mad.gif Fiance will get a hold of her ( headbonk.gif ) and call again tomorrow to find out what's going on since ours was filed towards the end of July/early August! Our check also hasnt been cashed yet which is REALLY worrying me! Well, I hope the lawyer can give us some positive news or I really dont know what to do otherwise crying.gif

Are you sure your lawyer sent the file back then? You might have to check the July thread too but I'm pretty sure that checks have been cashed for all of the August filers and most have their NOA1... I've heard a few cases where the lawyer takes a while to send the paperwork.

We met my second day in Bogota (Aug '07), we both agreed that we were just looking to have fun since I was only there for four months. But it soon became clear to both of us that we were falling for each other. We started joking about getting married, and him coming back to the states with me, and other stuff along those lines. Near the end of October, my then 4 year old daughter (Piper) came to visit me. After spending one day with her, he looked at me and said he wanted his own Piper. That night after he went home, he sent me an instant message saying that he wanted to be a part of my family and officially asked me to marry him. I was so nervous that my daughter would be to much for him, but all he saw was his new family. After my daughter left we went out and bought matching wood rings for $2.50 each. Later we upgraded to a white gold Colombian emerald engagement ring for me.

heart.gif Lovely!
I would also like to add that I love the name Piper for a daughter and am considering it myself. biggrin.gif

So thats good news for us, atleast we now know that SOMETHING is happening and they are aware of us smile.gif
So hopefully we will have the NOA1 by this week or early next week, I really hope!!

Yay i'm so happy, seems like they just 'forgot' us or something and we are expecting it very soon!! smile.gif

Awww so sweet! Mine might sound kinda generic but it was pretty amazing.

He was going to ask me before but I always told him it wasn't the right time so stopped him before he did it. Then last year, the day before his birthday, we went to Cape Cod (they have some pretty beaches) and after dinner, sat together on the jetty. He was sitting behind me with his arms around me.. I knew he was going to ask so was getting really nervous and he was too. Then he pulled the ring box out and gave me a speech about how much I mean to him and how he knows there's no one else... I was so touched and embarassed that I giggled when he asked me!! blush.gif I told him to keep going, and he carried on telling me wonderful things. Then when he asked me again, I giggled again and said yes... then we kissed and I opened the box to see my pretty ring.

Any news, Shanira?

Sending it before a long holiday weekend is hard but if you waited until afterwards, it would take even longer. At least you have it all sent now so can sit back and wait for the little things like check cash and NOA1.

I agree that some Canadians are really lucky to be able to drive to their OH. Not all of them, of course! But I've seen many people on here that have driven across the border as often as every 2 weeks... lucky them! I'm extremely lucky that I get to visit my fiancee every 2-3 months usually. That's the dress that I want. sad.gif I saw it online over a year ago going for $800 and now it seems to have gone up to over $1000... but it's still cheap for a wedding dress. I just want to find it in a store somewhere so that I can try it on and know for certain that it will fit.

You're not going to believe this.

Last night while complaining that we hadn't gotten our NOA1 yet to my fiancee, he said "are you sure this receipt isn't it?" He had told me before that he recieved a receipt for the cash being checked, is all. I asked "what EXACTLY does it say?" to which he responded "Notice of Action.."

huh.gif

ARE YOU KIDDING?

That was pretty much my reaction. He said that he had thought the NOA stood for "Notice of acceptance" so didn't pay any attention to the small print at the top.

The date we got this was on the 14th, over 2 weeks ago!! So he had this in his posession for over 2 weeks and didn't think to properly look at this and think 'hmmm I wonder if this IS it'... the check wasn't even cashed until the 19th so I don't know what he was thinking.

I'm so happy for you... I told my Bill about it last night and we both felt for you. I'm glad to hear it's all alright. smile.gif I remember feeling so relieved that we probably won't be getting a RFE already.

Now you just need to wait for your NOA1 with us.

Hopefully we'll get ours today as it's been 2 weeks.
