IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresVisa APPROVED!
QUOTE (giL & joy @ Apr 3 2009, 07:03 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yes. My visa has been approved today.. kicking.gif Praise God! kicking.gif

I arrived at the USE around 6AM. Was told to wait at the waiting area til the 8:30AM appointments are called. REMINDER: NOT just CELLPHONES are NOT ALLOWED. Other electronic gadgets are NOT allowed inside the embassy too. I forgot to leave at home my MP3 player so I had to go outside again and grudgingly pay P150 for the sharks outside offering to keep my stuff safe til I'm done. Big Bleh! mad.gif

Anyway, I went inside again and here are the steps as told in the video shown for waiting applicants. Off-Topic2.gif

Step 1. Went to the "Ticket Booth" where your number stub is given, and where they get the Forms 156, 157 and 156-K. Keep your number stub and never give it away was the instruction. Then I watched for my number get flashed in the Queue Board plus the corresponding window number where I should go to.

Step 2. Finger scanning in windows 14, 15, 16. No problems. Just let the girl get your finger scans.

Step 3. Pre-Screening by the Pre-Screener. (obviously..hehe). These are fellow Pinoys who ask.. guess what?... Pre-screening questions! lol... For me, it was young lady who pre-screened me. She just asked who is petitioning for me, what's my relationship with him, when did we meet, how did we meet, is he a Fil-Am (he's not. he's Mex-Am), etc. She got my other docs -- NBI, CENOMAR, I-164 + tax transcripts, pics, moneygram receipt, greeting card from Gilbert..

Step 4. Final Interview by the Consul. Mine was in Window 32. The consul is an elderly caucasian who barely looked at me from his pc, very professional, kept calling me Ma'am (probably because of my ultra-conservative blazer..lol). He made me raise my right hand and swore that I'm telling the truth on which I replied with a "Huh? Oh! I swear!" Then he proceeded to ask when me and my fiance met, how did he decide to go to the Phils (which I answered with our love story, "We wanted to be together and these are the procedures we need to go through," how many times he's been here, how old is he, etc. At the end, he said, "Okay I have no more questions to ask. Your visa is approved." Was told too to get further instructions outside. Alright! good.gif

Step 5. Got the famous pink slip.. and the news that because of the long holidays coming I might get the visa in 2-3 weeks instead of the normal 3-5 days.. Bleh! I wasnt able to foresee that. I should have gotten an earlier schedule. But anyway, more important is that I got approved. smile.gif

Step 6. Pay Air21 P205 for delivery of my visa. The price varies where you live. I'm just in Quezon City area.

Afterwards, that's it pansit! I was done! Then we were told not to go out right away because there were rallyists outside the embassy throwing stones and who are being pushed out by the police coz they were just blocking the entire cross-section of UN Avenue and Roxas. Tsk. Of course this is an entirely different story..

So yeah! PRAISE GOD!!! I was teary-eyed most of the time while waiting for my turn.. Couldnt help but get emotional thinking how I've gotten this far in the K1 process and that in a few minutes I would get definite assurance that I can be together for the rest of my life with Gilbert.. Knowing that it's going to be in a whole new country, the thought of leaving the familiar and building a new life in a strange land was quite overwhelming.. I was all excited, anxious, and happy at the same time! smile.gif

CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!

Hi guys, I have question regarding my police cert from taiwan. I worked there so many yrs ago 1999-2001 and i got my police certificate last 2003. now i am wondering if it still valid since its 2009 now but i was only there for that period of time do you think the NVC will accept it? or they will ask me to get a new one? I got my new local PCC last month from where im living now. Anybody have an idea? pls give me your insights. I am going to send the ds230 to my hubby today and just want to be ready just in case they will not accept my old one from taiwan. waiting for you reply thank you all.

for as long as you were not back in taiwan from the time you have the certificate, i guess that's ok....but to make it sure, just get a new one, its very easy and affordable to apply through mail. I did it myself...normally police certificate valid only for a year.
