K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat are they doing whilst we wait for NOA2?
Hi All,
I was just wondering if anybody knew exactly what they (the gremlins) are doing whilst we sit here waiting for NOA2? I heard something about background checks....who do they do that on? My fiance stole some things from a store as an early teen will this cause any problems? He was never charged just warned. What else do they do before we recieve the NOA2?

Kinda getting me down I'm seeing so many people that have gone through CSC who have waiting 4-6 months from NOA1 - NOA2 :(

Just wondering if not then is there gonna be a huge gap between now and packet 3....also what exactly is packet 4?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresweee 4 weeks till packet 3!
Hmm ok... ty everybody.

Now the police certificate 40 days you say? Dang, I would try and get it now I'm just worried about if they need to see proof of like it saying on packet 3 that I need it and I cannot supply them with that just now, also the date on the police certificate would be earlier than when the embassy requested us of it. I've asked this before but would this cause a problem? Also do I need a copy of this police certificate for the interview or is it for the interview and not to be sent back in before hand?

I also wondered about the medical and interview. It's going to be a huge deal for me to get to london as it is (I'm wheelchair dependant etc need special assistance and transport)....how can we get them on the same day? I see alot of people do get them on the same day but I'm also aware you get the interview date after the list of medical places to try and get an appointment with. I want to try and make sure they're on the same day. It'll take me 4-6 hours to get from lancashire to london as is. Would I just hang onto the medical addresses until I recieve an interview date and then ring round to book a medical appointment?

Also I'm going to need to send out co-sponcer forms to my fiance's mom to say she'll support us finantionally. Now is that the advicate of support (sp?) forms? They come with packet 3 yes? Also do I need to get more passport size photos of my fiance to take to the interview? He only managed to get 2 last time and we sent those in.

How is the london embassy about medications? I'd need to take my asthma inhalers and painkillers into the building especially after the long journey and waiting around. I realise they take things off you. Do I need to get a doctors letter to say I'm on all these medications and that I need to have them with me at all times? They are all prescription drugs.

As for the police certificate is it offically 40 days even with me having a clean record (never been charged/commited a crime)? I would like to send away for it now like people are advising but my parents recon i should wait till packet 3 incase the police station wants to see where it says it's needed ya know? I dunno if they will but just want to make sure.

Vaccinations hehe I was to an advantage I've had the flu and pneumonia, MMR booster, tetnus etc jabs (basically all available in the UK) because I'm very vunerable. But ty for the reminder. Does it cost to obtain the vaccination record? Do I ask at my GPs ?

Also as many of you know I have alot of medical issues. When going to this medical in london would you advise me taking a doctors letter saying my conditions and that they aren't contagious etc...or is it better to actually bring a copy of some or all of my medical files themselves to prove I'm not a harm to anybody? Also I take steriods for asthma ..... I understand they take blood, if it shows in it will it cause a problem also I'm unsure if anything will be seen on a chest x-ray asthma wise as I've never actually had one. ROFL had every single test except a chest x-ray. I've also heard some horror stories where they don't give you anything to cover yourself. Please say they give you a gown now

Thank you everybody. I'm so sorry I did save that link way back but I cannot see it in my yahoo bookmarks now. Also I trailed through this entire forum section to try and find where you provided it for me and it seems it may of been before the forum crash. I don't mean to repeatively ask questions. TY SO MUCH GUYS!!!

We got this sorted. Printed out the forms, filled in my part. Gonna pass them to my social worker to sign (it says somebody has to sign if they have known you 12 months). I would of got one of my doctors to but I've just switched hospitals but oh well hopefully that should be fine. Then once he's signed it my dads gonna drop it off at the police station for me with some ID.

TY ALL AGAIN SO MUCH. BIG weight off my mind.

and YAY! we got a letter from NVC today saying they're gonna send out case out to the US Embassy in London within a week and we got our LND number

TY guys so much. Just emailed bury metro again see what I get. If no responce by tomorrow....I shall phone if no luck then I guess I'll have to try and make some sort of arrangements to get to the police station.

Questions:
So they don't generally reply to letters?
Will they have the form there or will I get sent home and asked to go back when they have?
What sort of ID can I include?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAdvice Needed Police Certificate Drama
Hi Guys,
Ok here is my issue.
So I got onto the website order form for the "subject access" form and then notice it says that this form can only be used if you live in the London area. So I abandoned that after the confusion of getting hold of it a second time for you very kind VJers.
Then I wrote to two local police stations and requested form called "subject access" and as of yet I have no reply still. I'm now doubting they can even send me this via mail. I sent both letters a month ago.
Getting down to a police station is going to be very hard for me, I don't have my own transport so have to hire adapted transport (at a price that aint nice). I will HAVE to do it if I cannot get the form any other way. But I'm trying to avoid this as I'm not made of money and need to save it for hospital appointments and getting back to america when the visa is through.
I so wanted to obtain this before Packet 3 arrives so I don't have to wait longer than I need to :crying: . Is there any other way to get hold of this form so I can fill it in and send it back with £10? Like I said I tried the online form but it said they can only process them if you live in the London area. I live in Bury, Manchester. :help:

I think they are trying to ask where they are suppost to go to get DNA proof that they are the parent of there child perhaps? The others have worded it so perfectly. The person who said this to you obviously has there own problems and simply can't see past there nose to be happy for others. I've been in similar situations, whenever me or my fiance tell somebody that I'm immigrating to the states to be with the person I love they think I'm not serious and begin lecturing us about how much we'll be a burden for the state. There are alot of uneducated people out there. Just wait, if they ever find love in another country....perhaps another moron will say it back to them...

Ok just emailed the forms to my fiances sister in law who will print them and give it to his mom :D saves loads of time posting. I saw the evidence needed then (silly me).

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresco-sponcer forms, should I send these now to my fiances mom?
Hi Guys,
We were told today that our application has left NVC
Now obtaining my police record is underway I wonder if I should now send the co-sponcer forms now? My fiances mom is kindly doing this for us. My only concern is that when I get packet three the co-sponcer forms may be different than those I can download now and send. Therefore having to do it all again. Or it'd just be my luck if they decide to update the co-sponcer forms. Should I just be safe and wait till I get packet 3 and send what they send to his mom or should I chance it and compare the forms when I get them back.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCo-Sponcers...How Many?
Hi VJers,
You know we currently taking care of the co-sponcer thing we came to a few possible pit falls. See both me and my fiance (USC) are unemployed and have been on benefits all our lives unable to get a job where our physical needs are not a burden on the company or against health and safety of other people! Anyway, we figure this is going to be our biggest pit fall. We already have concent of my fiances mom who earns over 40k a year as his caregiver to be our co-sponcer. But then whilst reading the guide on this side on the affidavit of support tips that there was a case were JUST the USC was on benefits and hey had TWO co-sponcers and got denied. Reading that has me kind of worring, it's all going fine now but we realise we're gonna be questioned to death over how we're going to cope finationally. We WILL, we have tramendus support from both our families. Do you think it'd be worth trying to get a second or even third co-sponcer to safe guard us (not sure of the actual limit)?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresArming Myself For The Medical....
Hello Folks,
I've been gathering things to help me with the medical. We figure my medical condition may be an issue and after reading the medical guide from VJ on what people with MS have gone through I'm arming myself now ready to FIGHT ! I swear I don't know how I'll react if my genetic disorder will be the cause of a denial...
Anyway here is what I've been doing:

1. Printed off fact sheet from the Muscular Dystrophy Campaign on my particular disorder....my disorder affects 200 people worldwide so I doubt the medical doc will know of it.
2. Contacted the support group I'm in for this (has 12 members from accross the globe) and asked for positive letters....i.e what they have done with their lives DESPITE the illness.
3. Wrote letters to my previous doctors asking them to provide us with a letter on my diagnosis and why each of them is involved and my current issues

I don't know what else really to arm myself with. The issue I think is going to be because my condition slowly deteriates with time....the MS example in the guide refered to one who rapidly deteriorated and one in remission....so I'm kinda in the middle.... Do I try to get more information on my condition for the medical.....I've had a look all over the web but can only find case reports and well...mostly they are morbid. The factsheet I printed out didn't contain anything of the sort.

Any advice would be appresiated. I want to be prepared if they question me.

Also if I'm denied on account of medical instability, what the heck do I do? apply for another visa, what another year apart?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion About Form I-134 and employer
My mother is employeed by IHSS (In Home Support Services) an Indeed I am her Boss although I plan to have my worker from the state write a cover letter also, but I can not make it any clearer then just stating she is my employee an yes it is her primary job an has been since 01' . My mother makes I do believe (don't know exactly, not my buisness) 36-40k a year and we have my benefit's, as stated my mother will be writing an extensive letter of how she will be helping dirctly so as not to let Fiona become a "public charge" i.e. in the ways of caregiving an monetary support, Indeed this will be a hard case to pass an if it was economically able we would have an Attorney but it isn't as should be obvious by the questions asked an details known. If these details help anymore were still open to idea's or whatever, all help is of coarse appreciated...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestion About Form I-134 and employer
:jest: I know me again..

My co-sponser to be is a caregiver to my fiance....so therefore my fiance is her employer. But she is also his mom. So does she need a letter from my fiance explaining her job etc or should we get a letter from the person from the health care/social services to write saying the situation? Or both?

Also I'd like to know if we somehow need to make duplicates of her tax returns.....

One more thing do I send form I-134 back with the said ones in packet 3 or do I keep hold of it till the interview? I would prefer to send it back with the specific packet 3 papers in hope if any issue arises it won't be told to us at the interview..... then again I've read some people say they hand this form over anyway in London at the interview despite already sending it in. *puzzled*

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPolice Certificate Request Finally In The System
So today we got the Subject Access forms back from my social worker who signed them for us in the mail after waiting just a week. We downloaded these forms of the net after somebody kindly linked us to the Greater Manchester branch for this form. But after we had sent them to my social worker to sign a package comes in the mail from when I mailed the local police station 2 months ago requesting the forms! DOH!!!!! So anyway we look over them, compare them and they're the same so we thought right ok....no need to redo them. So my dad kindly goes down to the police station with my passport for ID and the signed (downloaded version). Waited in line and when he got to the front desk explained he was handing them over on my behalf as it was difficult for me to get there etc... She just looks at him and snaps back at him "Wheres the rest of the forms?"....my dad was like "You mean the instructions on filling them in?" she said yes.... we figured that was for us not them....but apparently they're needed. She disappeared in the backroom and then my dad noticed in the rush for the bus to the police station he picked up my mums passport not mine :( ...total disaster. So he rang my brother from the public phone box to ask him to bring mine along with the "instruction" forms. My brother took a taxi to the police station and gave him that AND my birth certificate (because I noticed it was TWO pieces of ID they needed but she didn't say). My brother then forgot to pick up the instruction forms.....and was going out so couldn't come back to get them. So my dad (poor guy I feel awful :( ) had to come back to the house and pick them up and take them back down and wait in line again. Then all she did was compare the package they sent to the downloaded subject access forms and hand him the friggin package back. Spending £25 on taxi fares isn't good. Then then told him if these downloaded forms are not right (yet the link I got them from was from the manchester police website) they'd have to send them back and they'd be delayed......plus that is going to take 40 days to process this. Well we already knew that.

At least that parts over I guess....dad didn't get his dinner till 8pm because of all this :(

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAnyone still awaiting packet 3?
According to an query email responce from NVC our file left NVC on March 23rd for the London Embassy. On the NOA2 dated March 8th by email, recieved march 11th by mail it said 4 weeks till we'd get something from London. By my calcutations its been about 3 weeks. I'm seeing some people dated 15th left NVC but all from NSC or VSC...anybody around the same time as us whos still awaiting packet 3?

It's taking all my might to not phone the embassy and ask whats going on....I HATE not having the online status case at this point...I'm naturally a busy person...and I've got nothing left to do now......police certificate underway, got supporting evidence to provide at the medical whenever that will be, co-sponcers filling in her forms.....

*twiddles thumbs*....Feel pretty helpless now....

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedureswhat are the chances for denial?
Hi There,
Don't worry about the one picture thing. When we first started out (no VJ or nothing to guide us) we didn't know we were to add anything just fill in the question of how we met, the bio forms and passport size photos (3/4 view).... We got an RFE requesting exactly what was missing and unfortunitly for us during that time they changed from requiring a 3/4 view to a full frontal view passport photo for both of us. If you do get an RFE the good thing about it is because some processing has already taken place once you've responded things move along quickly.

As for denials. I believe a person can get denied on one of the following accounts (more experianced members will correct me if I'm wrong).

1. Being arrested etc, jailed or commiting a serious crime can really rock the boat
2. Becoming a public charge that is your partner doesn't have the significant amount of money to fully support you for 2-3 years as required. Sometimes even with a co-sponcer you may get denied if they think its not secure enough/doesnt look realistic.
3. Lying on the forms...or you answers not matching what they know..always be honest.
4. They feel you and your partners relationship isn't genuine i.e if you both speak different languages and can only communicate briefly... it may raise some eyebrows
5. You have a mental/physical condition which have harmful/violent symptoms towards others.

The good thing is though if you're denied you file for a waiver (go to the waiver forms to check them out) and appeal......

I hope this helps
