K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAdministrative Processing

Thanks to your post, I think I understand the processing descriptions a little better, so thank you!!

I am in the exact same position.  I have been in "Administrative Processing" for a while, even though I was told at the interview that I had been successful!!

Your welcome,it always helps to read other people's experiences and see what the norm usually is. :)

I think having being told you were successful with your interview and notbeing given any notice that they would do more checks before issuing your visa means they are most probably just being slow.  How long have you been waiting since your interview? I waited from the 2nd August until yesterday (5th sept) when it was finally issued and that was with the US Embassy in London. I had the help of a family member who works in the US government to help push it through otherwise who knows when i would have got it.

Our Visa now shows as issued. We have talked to several folks from DoS and confirmed that ALL visas go to Administrative Processing prior to being issued. Some just require additional processing, and in most cases that additional processing is required, you know before you leave the interview.

Yes that's exactly right :) All cases go through some kind of AP and if it's extra checks and will be a longer wait of additional processing then they will tell you at the interview and give you a form on the day,i think it's called a 221 form. :)

Thankyou everyone,I just got off the phone with the DoS,apparently according to their systems i'm case isn't with them and it's still with the US Embassy London and they have no note of it going through "Administrative processing" and anything to do with it needing further checks. She said Summer is their busiest time and it's probably being processed by the embassy in London as they have had no contact of it needing extra checks done to it so she thinks it's all fine. She advised me to keep on sending emails/making calls to the US embassy London asking for updates as they have my file,so hard to get any response from them at the Embassy though. I'm trying to stay positive. :)

The upside is I haven't booked a flight,my wedding is booked for October the 25th and can be easily rearranged,I think i'm just so desperate to be with my Scotty :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAdministrative Processing

I just read this online about AP...

Some visa applications require additional administrative processing which takes longer than the 3 ? 5 workdays required for routine processing.  Most administrative processing is resolved within 90 days of the visa interview.

dept_of_state_seal_small.jpg
Applicants who are subject to additional administrative processing are advised on the day of the interview.  While the timing will vary based on the individual circumstances of each case, you should allow at least 90 days for this stage of the visa process to be completed.

If your application is subject to additional processing because you have answered ?Yes? to one or more of the Security and Background questions on the DS-160, you should allow approximately 16 weeks for the application to be processed.  Please note that it is not possible to check the status of this type of visa application.

A couple of days to a week is sort of normal "paper shuffling" AP.  AP for longer suggests you're in the other kind which can last for an indefinite period of time.  Do you have some unusual circumstances? Were you born outside the UK or lived or worked anywhere outside the UK?

I haven't any unusual circumstances no,the interview went smoothly,i didn't need to show any further evidence. I am born and bred in England and neither of us have any connections of any sort with the middle east...

it's rather strange to be in administrative processing for a k-1 visa after an interview in London.

Is the applicant  'born in the UK', with a non-muslim sounding last name?  If so, that's doubly weird to be in AP.

Hello Darnell :) No nfot at all, neither of us has any coonection with the middle-east and we have very English sounding full names,I am born and bred in England,no trace of any criminal offence and myself and my fiance Scott are both we feel very respectable people so cannot understand the wait for so long,i wonder if it's because I told them at interview that i plan to leave late september and so they put me at the back of the priority line.

Sorry you're in AP! I've seen your recent post though and it looked like you were approved and just waiting for your passport to get back to you. Were you told you were approved at the interview?

Hello!  Yes i was told I was approved at the interview, everything seemed to go smoothly at the interview,i did think it was rather strange to be waiting this long for the visa to come through.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsAdministrative Processing

Good evening all!

Just to get an idea of how long others have waited, how long were any of you in "Administrative Processing" for before you had your visa sent back to you? I have been in this process for a  while (3 weeks) ,just interested to know how long others have waited?

Thank you :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK1 Visa app status- from administrative processing to ready

I'm pretty sure it means that you are now not in the Administrative processing stage anymore and since it's in the "ready" status like many other people the next stage SHOULD be issued. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancé forgot he was married before!

Affection trust and communication. And throughout our relationship this is really the only thing that's had caused a bump between us. He's been straightforward with me about everything. So that's why I no reason not to believe him.
It was frustrating at first to hear this just cause that could mean we'd have to wait longer for our paperwork to complete and be away from one another longer but on the upside we have a bright future ahead of us. We've built us and I'm not giving up so easily.

In that case who are we to tell you what to do. :) If you trust him and he has been honest about everything else then it's just one of those obstacles that comes up in relationships that you work at together. I think that you said "he forgot" just makes everyone assume he is hiding something because it's pretty much impossible to just forget you were married and divorced before. I hope everything works out for you both though. :):)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiancé forgot he was married before!

I don't want to be unkind but I don't get how on earth you can forget you are married. It makes no sense,if he is to start afresh and a new life with you surely it requires trust between you both. I'm slightly surprised you believed him when he said he forgot too. I think alarm bells would start ringing if my Fiance were to tell me he had forgotten he had been married and divorced before. If you are going to be together then you need to be able to trust eachother. Relationships are built on trust. I think you should be more concerned about the trust in your relationship than the visa right now...I think you know though what is the right thing for you. :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo I need to complete Affidavit of Support again?

Consider this a new process and like starting over. They don't dig through your old file for things. On the G325a biographic form, a photocopy wouldn't do. Differences since you did the petition--
You are married, have a different last name, have an "other name used"(maiden name), new address, unemployed ...

Thank you,I have since completed the forms again, I got confused and just need to stop thinking of what I have sent before now as like you say circumstances have changed and this is a new petition.

Thanks for all your help..

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresDo I need to complete Affidavit of Support again?

For the next part since marrying my Fiance it says I need to complete Affidavit of Support and G-325a which I did when applying for the K1 visa. Does it need to be done again, can it be photocopied from my K1 petition and sent?

Thank you,

Harriet

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat happens at the medical??

I had my medical in London back in May,Just dress normally. They don't take blood tests unless you have certain medical conditions or are being testing for drug/alcohol abuse. They will ask you if you want certain vaccinations done if you haven't had them in the last 10 years... MMR and tetanus...if you decide NOT to have them done then when you apply for AOS after moving to the US you would have to have them done then and it would cost you more being in the U.S. They will check blood pressure, pulse rate, sight, hearing and take an xray of your chest, thats all! It's a simple check up and you are in there about 2hrs,it's more waiting than anything else. Nothing to worry about or syke yourself up about.smile.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBuy air ticket before the interview?

I agree with all the above,I have known many people on VJ who booked a plane ticket and didn't get the visa when they expected to,I didn't get my visa until 1 month and a half after my interview, they tell you it should be with you in 3/4 working days but very often it takes A LOT longer,if you book the ticket it is at your own risk, the chances are she may not get the visa by the date she is due to fly and then you lose out on the flight.
