CanadaThe Boss Thread
It seems working for hotels provides the most interesting work environments. There is always someone screwing another employee, someone stealing, someone being the company snitch. To be quite honest, I can't wait to immigrate. I somehow got the managerial shaft. I was working M-F day shifts. I now work any random day on overnights, and evenings. My GM and manager above me are screwing, my direct manager doesn't do any work, dumps on me and wonders why it doesn't get down. lol Kind of hard to do things that involve guest relations at 11:00 P.M.. If there is one thing I have learned, put your head down and work. I'm forecasting a maximum of 8-12 more months here. I'll tolerate it for that long, if by chance my visa doesn't get approved in that timeline. Then I'll just have to quit a find a job to keep my sanity.

In terms of stories, there is always stories. A dishwasher walked in on my two higher ups getting it on in a walk in cooler, and a cook walked in on them in an office, and they have sleep overs in the bar. Yet, they seem to think no one knows :S. The bar manager has had sex with majority of his staff, but that is nothing surprising. Our restaurant manager has a lawsuit against him for sexual harassment. The rest. mgr.'s brother has been arrested for picking up hookers in ambulances (he was a paramedic). Our restaurant supervisor came in drunk and still high on coke Tuesday morning. Our accountant goes on incessantly about how she likes to be titty ######. All the while they beat me down saying I'm too young to get married and I have thought this through, and that they want to call Homeland Security and tell them my engagement and relationship is not real. *Sigh* At least I can say my job is never dull.

Oh hey, and while working the overnight at the front desk on Saturday. I had a boy from the university football rookie party vomit in the lobby wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a halter top. Some other guy pee'd on a hiabiscus plant in the lobby, and a man had all his teeth kicked in *thumbs up*. And to think, if I wasn't getting married to an American citizen I would be applying to be a cop by now. lol

Since deciding to immigrate my work productivity has gone wayyy down. I'm on the management team for a hotel. I spend 10% of my time doing literal work. 30% e-mailing Jeremy useless banter back and forth, and 60% randomly posting on VJ. Has anyone else found this trend to be applicable to them? Or am I just one of those young people with no respect for their job? lol

Those bloody logic problems are hard. That or my brain loses it's ability to function when working random overnight shifts. Probably the latter, but hard none the less.

CanadaSO's parents are getting divorced.
Wow this is so familiar to me but different. My parents told me that they were getting divorced after 24 years of marriage. I'm the oldest, and I always had this thought that they would be together forever. I found out in July. I asked my fiance the same question (we aren't going to end up like that are we?). Ultimately, it will all pass. My SO never pressed the subject, let me cry when I needed to, just let the conversation flow. Try and stay positive and soon he'll come to realize that his parents aren't you, and that being overly clingy to you won't make your relationship better. He just needs to figure it out in his own head. Best of luck to you both. I'm sorry for your situation.

No milk, no breads, no dyes, we do it all. I give him fish oil capsules every day too. At home its not as hard to manage, but again, I know my son, I know how to manage the issues he has. My mom used to meditate with Ethan once a week, I should really start doing that with him myself but I don't know the jargon.

Its at school where the real issues are. He just doesn't focus on the subjects that don't interest him. Sounds pretty normal to me! I don't focus on things that don't interest me either! tongue.gif But honestly, its his grades in those subjects that are really hurting him. If I get the diagnosis I can at least send him to middle school with the tools to get him the help he really needs. He is very aware of it too which is amazing.

Here he gets 15 minutes of outdoor time a day. 15! And these teachers wonder why the kids are bouncing off the walls!? This year and last they had 15 minutes and if its snowing out they keep them in the lunch room. I mean we come from a society of morning, lunch and afternoon recess! And if it was snowing out, that didn't stop anyone!

15 minutes of recess? What the hell? What happened to two fifteens and an hour? That's real unfortunate.

Is this required for a K-1 visa interview in Vancouver? Someone please answer soon. I am about to have a heart attack! Sitting in a hotel room with my fiance knocked out, and his interview is tomorrow! The checklist doesn't mention it, but I've just seen it on VJ and looking at the Vancouver reviews someone's interview was delayed two weeks because they're evidence of support and letter of intent wasn't notarized? I swear I read on here that it doesn't need to be notarized...? Please help, anything not on the checklist that we should bring? TIA!

I don't know what I'd do without this site! cray5ol.gif

As per the Vancouver Consulate website the DS-160 is required for applicants as of October 2008. I am aware of some who didn't have to complete it. However, I would just to be on the safe side. Good luck at your interview!

QUOTE (Hugglebuggles @ Apr 7 2009, 08:46 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
When I went for the medical I had Dr. Seiden himself in the room. He was training a young girl on her first day of the job, and I was patient #1... so I probably heard a little more than I should have. He was telling her that there are only a couple reasons why the consulate would deny you based on medical circumstances. He said admitting smoking pot more than once can get you a denial, unless you can prove you haven't done it within the last 3 years (he said this is almost impossible to do), 2 DUI's in your entire life or 1 within the last 3 years will get you a denial (they assume you're a drunkard apparently) and the other one was testing positive for HIV. So, given that, I don't think you would be denied based on having Hep A... He probably just wanted to make sure they didn't miss any critical information. He's such a nice guy though!

That is fantastic information for anyone who is freaking out.

Carrie, you're fine. Good to see you starting to relax.

CanadaMedical Exam/Polics Check While Waiting for NOA2?
On the medical information packet I received from the dr's in Vancouver you need a case number before you proceed with the medical. So I'd hold off on that or e-mail them to confirm. The police check I got mine through Winnipeg Police Service(but I have lived in Winnipeg since I was sixteen so I didn't need to go through RC) I just faxed in the application with a photocopy of my ID's and they processed it that way. From what I understand you would only need to be fingerprinted if you have a criminal record. But again, I could be mistaken.

When was your last shot because you do have a six month window after the second anyways. If you can get your AOS done prior to that six month period I'm pretty sure you won't need to get it. But I haven't filed AOS and I think most Canadians either completed the series or didn't meet the age requirements.
