My brother does that but he doesn't even have the deceny to stop at 11 (legal quiet time) he stops between the hours of 2AM and 4AM.

My vent:

Jeremy recieved a letter from NVC saying they transferring our case from Sydney to Montreal, when jurisdiction states I go to Vancouver (which is slightly faster anyways so thats where I want to be)

Called NVC talked to a lady who is convinced all visa cases go to Montreal. I try explaining to her what is stated on travel.state.gov and the Vancouver embassy web pages, and based on the information I received from Vancouver via e-mail. She still says sometimes Vancouver takes interviews but 95% of them go to Montreal. This is my angry point because I thought everything was getting fixed and now they're ###### it up again. I ask to speak to a supervisor. Then I get a Betsy she's nice but she doesn't know either and tells me to call back in two days.

This is all ridiculous.

I have a legit work related vent now. Our "Executive" housekeeper is so freaking annoying. She talks like Eeyore has to tell you all the ins and outs of what she's doing "Well I'm going to go to the rooms that checked out and strip the beds and take them to the laundry room. I am on a radio if you need me." She'll come into my work space to chat my ear off about the mundane details of her bloody job and while she's back there she'll make ME check her message folders and what not. You're already standing back there move the two freaking feet to get your own damn messages. Christ I'm not your secretary that is not what I'm on payroll for.

She comes in on her day off (today) to help one of housekeepers get ready to train another housekeeper. Empower your freaking employees, DELEGATE! I'm sure any one of them can train the other to make a bed.

And thanks Kristin lol I'm pretty sure I'm cursed by the US gov.

The 24-hour information line is 1902-941-641. The cost to listen to prerecorded information is $1.15 per minute (cost access with variable cost options. Higher rates may apply from mobile and pay phones). You can ask to be connected to a live consultant for $3.00 per minute. Live consultants are available Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 7:00pm, Australian Eastern Standard Time.
If you cannot access 1902 services, the same information is available on 1800-687-844. This 1800 service has only live consultants, no prerecorded information. The charge is $12.00. This service must be paid by credit card at the time of the call. "

lol The thought of paying that much to talk to someone about NVC's mistake is mind boggling.

This is what NVC says regarding lost petitions :

What Can Be Done If the Petition Gets Lost?

We don't want this to happen, but occasionally it does. Files can get misfiled; shipments of visa files have been lost. Usually a misfiled petition can be located, but in an emergency an embassy or consulate can issue a visa from the computer record and an original Notice of Action approval (Form I-797) from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

Give the consular section time to locate the file, and it probably will. But all is not lost if the petition is really gone. Be sure to keep all correspondence you receive from the USCIS

Whats unfortunate are the places that don't have sick days and you have to get someone in yourself. US Embassy and Consulate Discussionconfusion over support and family size on I-134
I'm not sure if this will work in Australia but it worked for me in Canada (could be a fluke). My SO and I combined his household income to meet requirements. So we combined his and his mom's income for a household size of 4. They both live at the same principle residence and both completed their own I-134's with supporting tax documents, bank letters, and letters from employers. Since the I-134 for K1's is in my opinion a pre-qualifier for the I-864 I used the I-864 instructions which states you can use family members to help reach the income amount.

I'm sure there are people who will be willing to argue this, and you can choose who you would like to listen to. But in our situation that is what worked for us.

gigant - Many of the posters are holier than Christ (or perhaps even holier than his mother Mary). They seem to like to stone everyone any chance they get.
You have a legitimate problem and your best approach will be to talk to an immigration attorney, who may have handled such other cases and can help you comply with the immigration rules. There are worse crimes that people have committed and with help of attorneys they can overcome them - case in point - there are actually forms and processes set up for people who illegally cross into USA (without being inspected) either through Canada or Mexica - so it's not impossible to overcome these things. Good Luck

Let me just adjust my halo.

Ya know what dont make assumptions about me. I am not holier than the people you mentioned (people who I do not believe in btw, so that halo is really unlikely)

The guy made a boo boo and instead of saying "I screwed up, whaddya reckon i should do" it is everyone else's fault and he's in finance and works on wall street and has contributed so much and poor me....bla bla bla...

His attitude stinks. And that is what I take against. Your right, people have committed worse crimes but if they admit up to them and quit blaming it on other people, I dont take against them either. I worked with offenders so I am used to the "it wasn't me gov" route of defence and have no respect for it.

Agreed. It's one thing so say "Hey look I screwed up I need help" I'm not trying to say I'm better than him. We all f**k up but according to him its not his fault he didn't touch the girl so lets blame the cop who did it on purpose. Hahahahahaha

Dear American Angel,

Stop lyin and foul yourself and your family.

I'm sure you have been offered or approached or approached by a "working lady" in a lifetime have you not? Don't lie!

If "negotiating sexual performances" is a CRIME then I'd be very happy to leave this country: all I did was asking questions to that lady and, yes, a price was mentioned but it was all verbal I haven't even touched her;

I plaid guilty without knowing what the consequences for play not guilty were; if I can reopen the case I will but ill have to ask what the consequences will be if convicted.

Fyi I work in Wall St Manhattan and I've been working for US corporate financial world for years.

Have done 0.00 illegal things in this country not even a ticket; I created jobs, built houses, paid salaries and helped to the growth of this town: I don't give a s*** if people like you that claim to be "the perfect citizen" and try to put me down.

You do not need to engage in sexual acts with a prostitute to make it wrong. This is frustrating to read. Working on Wall Street does not mitigate what happened.

i would recommend going back to your home country where you will just get a 'ticket' for what you did and quit clogging up the system for those who actually deserve and want to be here.... on behalf of everyone else in the system - thanks for making us wait!

Nobody is clugging the system and making you wait you idiot;

This is a public immigration forum where information provided help and apply to all immigrants;

On behalf of myself I tell you shut up! And move on to the next forum, your accusation is useless here;

Uf they r making you wait they must have a good reason that has nothing to do with other people applicationsn you foul!

You're very quick to judge others. From the b**ch cop to the idiot fool. Most people are willing to help those with immigration issues. However, you walked into a bomb that you should have known was wrong. Most if not all of us here will have problems grasping why you did what you did. As mentioned by others no cop would offer 'free' services which leads us to believe that a price was indeed negotiated, in which case you should know its wrong. Don't blame American law for your screw up. Accept any advice people may be giving you in this topic and move on. Besides, you already decided to withdraw your current N-400 petition and received all the helpful answers you can get. Accept the fact that you screwed up, just admit it, grow up and stop blaming others.

Seeing as how I'm now living in Canada (and had been a native Texan my whole life before this move), I have to say that I haven't noticed very many -- if any -- differences in food. To me, it all tastes pretty much the same. Whatever variation there is can be attributed to different brands or restaurants. I haven't found one particular product to taste a "certain way" in the U.S. versus Canada. Then again, I could easily count on one hand the number of times I eat fast food per year. Perhaps I lack the credentials to tell the differences in flavor between the American and Canadian Wendy's franchises.

Whatever the case, menus are generally set up according to the taste preferences of the region. What might be preferred in Houston, TX may not go over well in Boston, MA and vice-versa. Understanding this, it's easy to see that some items Canadians have known their entire lives may not be readily available in some (or maybe even most) areas of the United States.

Interestingly enough, I did learn something new, although it has nothing to do with food. Canadian debit cards do not have a MasterCard or Visa logo on them. Every debit card I've ever seen (in the U.S.) has had either the Visa or MasterCard logo imprinted on it, whereas it seems Canadian debit cards have no need of them. Why this is, I couldn't say. Perhaps it has something to do with the Interac system, which doesn't exist in the United States or maybe because all Canadian debit cards are issued "online" (which means these cards require a PIN to function), in contrast to U.S. debit cards which are considered "offline" and therefore, can be swiped and signed like a credit card, without ever typing in a PIN.

Indeed, since your debit/credit cards are "offline" they need to be guaranteed by a major credit company. Canadian banks are looking to get into something like this for the future. And to be honest the only difference I've noticed between American and Canadian is the coffee, and since I can just make my own I'm sure I'll deal. Apparently Wendy's is major, however, I can't remember the last time I've had Wendy's. Well, and the spelling is a huge thing too.

It's no surprise. I still think it's due to the fact that many people just dont' see any good leadership choices. How can you vote honestly when you just dont like whats available.

Very true. I voted based on what the candidates in my riding were doing which is kind of unfortunate. Because there will be some people who vote solely on the leader, and won't consider the candidate in their riding and vice versa.

It seems working for hotels provides the most interesting work environments. There is always someone screwing another employee, someone stealing, someone being the company snitch. To be quite honest, I can't wait to immigrate. I somehow got the managerial shaft. I was working M-F day shifts. I now work any random day on overnights, and evenings. My GM and manager above me are screwing, my direct manager doesn't do any work, dumps on me and wonders why it doesn't get down. lol Kind of hard to do things that involve guest relations at 11:00 P.M.. If there is one thing I have learned, put your head down and work. I'm forecasting a maximum of 8-12 more months here. I'll tolerate it for that long, if by chance my visa doesn't get approved in that timeline. Then I'll just have to quit a find a job to keep my sanity.

In terms of stories, there is always stories. A dishwasher walked in on my two higher ups getting it on in a walk in cooler, and a cook walked in on them in an office, and they have sleep overs in the bar. Yet, they seem to think no one knows :S. The bar manager has had sex with majority of his staff, but that is nothing surprising. Our restaurant manager has a lawsuit against him for sexual harassment. The rest. mgr.'s brother has been arrested for picking up hookers in ambulances (he was a paramedic). Our restaurant supervisor came in drunk and still high on coke Tuesday morning. Our accountant goes on incessantly about how she likes to be titty ######. All the while they beat me down saying I'm too young to get married and I have thought this through, and that they want to call Homeland Security and tell them my engagement and relationship is not real. *Sigh* At least I can say my job is never dull.

Oh hey, and while working the overnight at the front desk on Saturday. I had a boy from the university football rookie party vomit in the lobby wearing nothing but boxer shorts and a halter top. Some other guy pee'd on a hiabiscus plant in the lobby, and a man had all his teeth kicked in *thumbs up*. And to think, if I wasn't getting married to an American citizen I would be applying to be a cop by now. lol
