K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresFiance Visa Personal Questions =)
Okay...

1 : How often are fiance visa denied?
I haven't seen too many get denied, have all your paperwork in order and be honest.

2 : I do not have a Birth Certificate! I was born in Vietnam back in 1987, my birth certificate has been long lost since then. I have never returned to vietnam eversince I left when I was only 6 months old. I do however have a british passport. Would this affect our petition? Most people born in Vietnam will not have a Birth Certificate, my fiance Binh doesnt have one either but he has his naturalization certificate and his passport. This is driving me mad worrying!

I personally would try like hell to get a birth certificate. It's always a good thing to have. The Canadian Packet 3 for K1 visa's states the following about unobtainable birth certificates.

EVIDENCE IN LIEU OF AN UNOBTAINABLE BIRTH CERTIFICATE: In rare cases, it may be impossible to
obtain a birth certificate because records have been lost or destroyed through war. In such a case, secondary evidence may
be submitted for consideration, such as a baptismal certificate, hospital certificate, school records, and/or a notarized
affidavit from a close relative, preferably your parents. You must also submit a sworn affidavit (s) explaining why a birth
certificate is unavailable.

3 : There is a 2 year age difference between me and my fiance. I am turning 22 on the 21st of august, and he is 20. I am nearly exactly 2 years older then him...... Would there be a problem with our age? A lot of people would think that "we might be too young to make the right decision" to get married so soon etc. Do you think we should get our parents to write us a letter of support? I am nearly 22..... I really dont think thats young at all.

It doesn't matter there is 15 years between my SO and I and we got approved.

4 : When will he need to meet the poverty line requirement?

Pretty much now. You will need to prove financial support at your interview. If he cannot meet income requirements now would be a good time to get a cosponsor lined up.

5: He wants to send 20 photographs of me and him with our I-129F package, is that too many photos?

Some people submit entire photoalbums its up to you. I provided like 3 or 4.

6 : In 2007, I did not get to visit him and he couldnt visit me because we both had college and no jobs, we couldnt afford to go anywhere that year! Would they question that? But in 2008 I went to visit him twice, once for 18 days and another for 89 days! The border patrol wasnt so happy to see me staying nearly the maximum allowed days in the US and gave me quite a hard time!

You met the requirements of meeting within the past two years so you're good to go.

Its hard to say treble. Because I'm young (23) there are times when I'm forceful on the phone I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm swearing yelling and screaming and I'll try the whole nice thing first but if that doesn't fly I'm going to express by displeasure and say whats happening isn't right. Lol granted getting parking tickets is no ones fault but your own. Generalizing it into young people is hard it could be a variety of factors from as mentioned problems at home, struggling with their new found independence, just being dumb/spoiled in general lol I do understand what you're saying though.

Its not just young people, it's people in general. When I worked at the hotel I'd get yelled at and screamed at my people of all ages.

No one has respect anymore. It is sad.

But you also need to think about what is going on in their lives and what kind of pressure they're under too, and no it isn't an excuse, but it does give you some understanding of where they are coming from.

I just hope you're not taking any of it personally Amanda, because you're the first person they speak to regarding their problems so you're like their punching bag. It's certainly not fair to you though. Here you are taking all of that negativity in... where are you supposed to release it?

I remember when I worked in hospitality I'd just go outside and cry some days. Some people can be really mean and you're just supposed to stand there smiling and nodding.

So true, I do that too. lol I only smoke so I can get a chance to leave my post (I work in one of those places where you work 8 hours and don't get lunch or anything)

So... my wife goes to EB Games and starts looking around the PC and Wii gaming sections. One of the store's staff walks up to her and asks, "Can I help you look for something?"

She replies that she's "just browsing." The salesman then says, "What does your boyfriend like? Maybe I can suggest a game or two."

My wife looks at him and responds, "I'm married and I'm looking for a game that I'd like to play; not my husband."

The salesman apparently takes a melodramatic step backwards and says, "Wow! A girl gaming? That's pretty unusual."

Heavily annoyed, my wife left the store. I certainly can't blame her.

I can't understand why any salesperson would act that way towards a potential customer. If you piss a customer off, not only will they refuse to buy from you, but they'll tell family and friends about their negative experience. Even if that salesman thought "girl gamers" were an anomaly (which they aren't today), he should've kept his mouth shut.

The funny thing is my wife has been gaming for a long, long time. She started off with Zork, which I'm sure was released before that salesman was ever born. She and I actually met on a Sierra On-Line message board (through the Gabriel Knight and Quest For Glory sections) as she plays lots of Adventure Games, or at least she did in the 80s and early-to-mid 90s.

Girls get that all the time. At Walmart a similar thing happened after I said I wanted the Quantum of Solace game for myself . Its rude and annoying but it will probably never change sadly.

Maybe its a Jersey thing...

But why must people interrupt?

This is a work vent...

Someone is talking to me, and my boss will walk out of her office and while this person is talking to me, she'll walk by and say something and I haven't heard it BECAUSE I AM TALKING TO SOMEONE ELSE! But she'll just walk by and say: "Nevada don't forget mutter mutter mutter" thats all I hear.

OR

I'll be working on something and my fingers are typing and I am obviously working and instead of saying: "Excuse me." or asking if I have a minute, the events planner will just throw something on my desk and start talking.

What sucks the hardest is when the events planner is going on about something after interrupting me and my boss interrupts her and starts talking to me and they're both competing for air time.

That's when I squint and go to my happy place... mmm lemon drops and marshmallows. biggrin.gif

LOL! I don't know if that's a Jersey thing or a boss thing. Because my boss will do the same thing...

They gave us the number to the Sydney consulate but we're too afraid to get too many people involved in the way that one hand won't know what the other one is doing. So we're going to call NVC again on either Friday or Monday and see where they're at.

I have no idea how it happened. Jeremy and I looked over the whole packet once we found out, no where does it reference Sydney and on the I-129F it says Vancouver for the consulate. I'm not as mad as I was. I am hopeful that it will get rectified and make its way to Vancouver. If not, and I have to refile that's when I'll freak out. But thanks for reading to my vent lol.

Nice to hear from you Janka! Happy Easter - I hope the bunny has something good for you! Our garden bunny left lots of chocolate looking balls in the garden but me thinks you better not eat those kind!
I am still worrying about you going to the states to someone you do not even know. I hope he is not a brutal fellow out of the military. And it would be so nice to find someone your own age and dream your future together! That is my wish for you!
Looking forward to seeing you in June.

Morning Grandma,

I received your birthday card a couple of days ago and I've just been so busy I forgot to e-mail. I'm sorry.

Anyways, a few things have changed Jeremy and I's petition has been approved so now I just have to go to my interview in Vancouver. So chances are your very generous birthday cheque will go towards that or any vaccines that I may require.

Also, I'll be stopping by in June, hope y'all are ready for me!! Love you, thanks again!!

My grandma is nuts. I realize I tried to make her understand that we aren't strangers lol far from it and he's not some crazy ex-military man. But things like this make me to tell just to shut up already. My oma and opa are all cool very supportive they like him, my parents are good is as well..so #######?

I have a dilemma. So I'm obviously entering the US very soon and getting married not much longer after that. Okay so here it is. I'm from a Dutch family as such I have a very Dutch last name. And my first name is Janka. So, in my Canadian view of things I would have kept my last name because there is only 15 of us kicking around here in Canada so I would like to see our family name go for as long as possible. However, since I'm moving to the US I don't want to be labeled as a foreigner (conceited I know) and perhaps be missing out on job opportunities and what not.

Long story short, I won't be keeping my last name because 1. it's the proper old fashion thing to do and 2. I don't want people to assume I don't speak english or whichever. But with my new married name its just going to feel like my name is cut off. lol You can't go from 13 letters to 5. I definitely can't do the hyphen because my whole name doesn't fit on my credit/debit cards as is. Does any of this make sense? I don't think it does..lol

CanadaNS woman denied entry

It's not only white Canadians that get asked these questions are taken to secondary and sometimes denied entry

lol I understand this but the problem when someone cries racism is that the most common raced to be assumed to not be hassled is the caucasian people

CanadaNS woman denied entry
I posted my comment on cbc.ca ;)

This woman bought a one way ticket to visit her husband in the US. As a Canadian who is now a permanent resident in the US and knows the immigration system fairly well. That one way ticket is a massive red flag. White Canadians get asked those same questions all the time. When crossing the border you need to show PROOF OF TIES TO CANADA. This is things like a round trip ticket, bank account statemens showing funds to support yourself while in the US, rental agreements, utility bills, letters from employers etc etc. That was her error, she didn't prove she was coming back to Canada. She bought a one way ticket to visit her new husband in the US. Any sane and comitted customs agent would say no. If she went back with proof of ties to Canada and a return ticket I can almost guarantee she'd cross. This isn't an issue of race or religion this is an issue of common sense and not feeling some ridiculous self entitlement of being able to enter another country. Being a Canadian citizen and having a passport DOES NOT equal entry into the US. Get over it already. Crying to the media probably won't help her case at all in my honest opinion.
beansFemaleCanada2010-01-07 17:42:00
CanadaAdvice/Answers please
the longest a person can stay is 6 months HOWEVER the time alloted for a stay is at the discretion of the border agent. she would have to show proof of ties to canada ie. return ticket, lease agreement/mortage information, letter from her employer, utility statements etc.etc. and even then they may only grant her a month or even less. my advice: suck it up and wait..it hurts and it can be lonely but its by far the best way to go about it. imho.

CanadaEmployment - 2 weeks' notice
I agree with Sapphire. Conflict of interest is a huge concern in most areas. Accepting a job that is in the same field as the one you are currently in is a conflict of interest. Most companies will make you sign a contract regarding this. I'd be completely upfront as companies are aware employees don't stay for ever. Be respectful and honest and you should have no problems.
