K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCeremonial wedding
You may be able to have the ceremony if you come back after the legal wedding in the States. My girl and I are getting legally wed in the US and then coming back to Thailand next year to have a big Thai wedding so her family will be happy. You will probably have problems with this though with the Catholic church. My sister had a private wedding on the beach and then a big wedding on the first anniversary for the families' benefits but the Catholic church wouldn't do the ceremony because they were already wed. But maybe you can find a Priest in Chile that will understand due to the K-1 process.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat does SO stand for?
My own opinion is that everybody should just type out fully what they want to say. Typing on a full keyboard is so easy and quick that the only place I can understand a need for abbreviations is on a telephone keyboard. Also will lead to less confusion since there seems to be more than one meaning for the same abbreviation like ETA which is pretty much accepted as 'Estimated Time of Arrival' everywhere.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresQuestions about RFE
Why would they care if a pic has a time stamp. They are probably one of the easiest things to fake on a pic. It seems that they wouldn't care since they are not reliable at all. There are even crime documentaries on Discovery Channel that show how some criminals try to create an alibi by manipulating the time stamp. Are the people at the service centers that out of the technological times?

Maybe you should think about promising her parents that she will get an education in the US. If you don't have the money for a US education, she should be eligible for student loans (stafford) once she is married to you. Its just a thought.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWrong zip code on NOA1
I just noticed that the zip code on my NOA1 was wrong (just the last two digits). I was wondering if I should bother to call and correct them or if this is just something I can just let go. The NOA1 states to call them immediately if anything if incorrect but I am afraid if I alert them to anything wrong it may slow the process down for us. The zip doesn't seem too important of a detail.

Any advice?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI've never filed taxes, do I have to if using co-sponsor
I am using my father as a co-sponsor since I have just graduated and have never had a full-time job. I also have never filed my taxes. I only made a few thousand last year on part-time jobs but received over 10k from my father. I am over the dependent age.

Is it alright to not have any tax returns with my I-134 or should I file my taxes this year just to have one to show during the interview which won't be until June or July?

I've never heard of a big city Dublin in the US. Just out of curiosity, where is it? I Googled it and only found a city in Ohio, definitely not a point of entry and a small community in California, also probably not a point of entry. Is there an airport named Dublin or something? Or did Bush invade Ireland for their black gold (Guinness)?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNo notice sent yet for my 2-15-07 I-129F

I never received my NOA-1 at all .. NOA-2 arrived without incident ...

When I called, the Customer Service Rep. said it wasn't a problem and if they had to regenerate another NOA-1 that it would slow the process of processing the petition because an Adjudicator would have to physically touch my packet and then it would go "to the back of the line".

No worries ..

Congrats on starting your process

CB

Quite surprised to hear that. I called to correct my zip code which was wrong on the NOA1 but correct on the form I sent in. I asked if it would slow the process down and the guy said it had no affect on the timing of my petition being approved. Another person from December told me that it doesn't affect the time when they review your file too since the December filer had to call to correct their address mistake too. They did touch my case approximately one week prior to receiving my approval. Maybe this was to change the zip and then it was put in the back of the line.

I don't know but surprised the info they gave me was so different than what they told you.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to compute income for I-864

You'll list your income on the I-864 as whatever income you reported to the IRS.  I'm not sure about the differences between an I-864 and I-864A.  Hopefully someone will be along shortly to answer that.

Just curious, what's the going monthly rate for teaching English in Thailand these days?

It various greatly depending upon the region that you are in and what type of school you are teaching at.    The run of the mill government school will usually net you around 30-35k baht (roughly 1000-1200 usd) a month though I fear that magical  number is rapidly declining with more agencies opening their doors and a greater influx of farangs migrating to Thailand to escape the economical calamity that has been plaguing western countries the past few years.    Private schools usually start around the 30k benchmark with many going as high as 50-80k.   Top tier international schools can potentially offer 100-150k but these are incredibly difficult to obtain.   The stupid regulations set forth by the detestable and incompetent MOE has been driving many of the good teachers from Thailand the past couple of years.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresHow to compute income for I-864

I have lived in Thailand for ten years earning wages as an English teacher.  My father has agreed to be the joint sponsor for my Thai wife and has provided me with his tax documents.    I know that I have to fill an I-864 form out as well but I am uncertain as to what to fill in for my wages.  I have no real assets in America to count upon nor any job lined up once I make the transition.   What number figure do I put in my I-864? Do I count my income or my wife's income in Thailand?   I have reported my income to the IRS for the entire time while in Thailand even though my earning have been relatively small.     Also I am curious as to the difference between the I-864 and the I-864A documents.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSent K-1 Documents but didn't get anythings back to USCIS - Taxas
Dear All ,

My name is Kun , I'm a new memeber on this website and have some problem about Visa K-1 Processing

I sent my documents to my boyfriend - G-325A / passport copy / Photo for apply visa

And my boyfriend sent his documents and my documents and Money Order USD 170 to USCIS - Taxas on 02June'07 and until now 24June'07 we didn't get any information fromm USCIS - Taxas that they've got our documents

My boyfriend went to post office, where he sent the documents and money order and the post office staff check for my boyfriend and post office staff saids that no one take my boyfriend money order yet , that's mean USCIS didn't take the money yet .

The question is , is that anyway for me and my boyfriend can check that USCIS - Taxes get our documents ?? or somethings ? because I just think that if they didn't get it or it's wrong address then the documents need to reject and send back to my boyfriend address , so how can I know this ?

Or USCIS - Taxes word hard and so busy then they transfer our document to another USCIS branch ?? and work for us ? .. how long usually do it take to get answer from USCIS ??

Please advise that how can I do ? because I thought that I maybe need to start everythings again , send documents and wait

Thanks for your advance,
Kun

Yes, it looks like your file on its way to the embassy! CONGRATULATIONS! good.gif

Your boyfriend needs to fill out the I-134 and assemble the supporting documents, have it notarized and send it to you for your interview.
Look here:
http://www.visajourn...mp;page=k1guide
At the bottom of this page is a section called: What to send to your fiance(e) once the I-129F is approved (Receive NOA2): There is also a FAQ link specifically for the I-134.....

I hope this helps.

Dear Bforbarree ,

Thank you so much for your help,

I'm sorry I read K1 guide and read FAQ I-134 , but I don't see the message that say about need to have Tax Return on Interview date too ??

For I-134 on the form and can my bofriend have documents for A,B , without C and D , that will be OK for interview date ? just incase I don't have tax return then I can get visa or not ? ,

Just want I read from C.If self-Employed ( that's mean for someone who has his own business only ? ) .. my boyfriend he worked at office , it's not his own business or his own company , then for C. If self-Employed it's not about my boyfriend ? ..

I things that I don't understand , if it's not someone who has his own business then while other couple have Tax Return on them interview date ??

I can't guarantee anything, so if you get into trouble, don't blame me, but I think the best thing you can do now is take the scanned copy from your brother to the interview. When they reject it, apologise and tell them that you will have the original sent to you from Pakistan as soon as possible. Don't try to explain anything about that document unless you are asked, but don't lie about anything either.

Keep in mind that it is very unlikely that you will get a visa until they have the original document.

Good luck!

First off, you didn't follow the procedure London sent you. You are supposed to submit the checklist when you have every document you need. Did you see the statement you signed: "I hereby certify that I have collected all of the items which I have marked with a check mark...." There is a method there... to keep people from coming unprepared and wasting their time.

You could call the embassy and delay the interview. Or you can go interview and they will tell you to send the proper documents in later. After you send the certificate in, they will contact you to arrange for your passport to be picked up by SMS couriers and delivered to the Embassy. Then they will issue the visa and have it delivered back to you by SMS. I dont think an emailed, notarized, scanned police certificate will do.

Linkin' Added,

Nick thx for ur reply, I knew it from earlier that sending the checklist means that you have all documents in your possession. but the reason why i sent the checklist earlier because that was a only document i was waiting to arrived from Pakistan but as you might heard of it INdia pakistan conflications over Mumbai attack so it basically impacted on local goverment bodies and offices as well. they are now securing their assess more by issuing certificates to anyone, but if necessary they are double checking each and every application, (My brother told me cuz he been told at the certificate office). As per my and bro conversation today on phone, he is sure to have certificate by coming friday or saturday but i can't get it in one day if he sends me on 15th of dec which is monday, so can you please also suggest me for what should i do or say to embassy once i be there for interview?

I can understand ppl aren't expert in immi thingies but still ppl experiences help eachother out.

thx once again for your detailed reply.........

Ali

If I were your Consular Officer, I'd be thinking, "Well he lied about having his police certificate, so what else is he lying about? Can I believe anything he says?" Good luck getting a visa after lying in writing to immigration officials.

This is EXACTLY what I was trying to tell him when he posted this same question earlier, but in a nicer way. I guess I beat around the bush too much, but this is EXACTLY what I was thinking.

"9. Have you ever been a member of or in any way associated (either directy or indirectly) with:

The question looks simple until you consider "associated indirectly with".
Wasn't everyone basically "associated indirectly with" the Communist Party before Perestroika?

Thanks in advance if anyone actually knows.

Well, everyone in the USSR wasn't a member. Your fiancee would definitely know if she was a member or not. If she wasn't a member and didn't work for them, I would answer "no". Simply living in a communist country because of circumstances of birth doesn't count as association.

Unlikely that we will see a draft any time soon. The military is exceeding it's recruitment numbers. My cousin was supposed to ship to boot camp on Dec. 9, but was told that his date was pushed back due to too many recruits.

Yeah, and it's very difficult to get into the Coast Guard or Air Force right now. They pick and choose.

Must be because of the perception that wars are going to be brought to an end by the new president. Lured by the so-called benefits of joining, especially in the midst of the most damaging economic collapse of the century, young people are being recruited. If Obama ends the wars, it will not be as dreadful job with death at the end of the tunnel. But the president chose to follow Bush's footsteps.I expect sudden and marked drop in recruitment figures, even in Coast Guard and Air Force...

Actually, it's the economy. People that got laid off and can't find work are joining, and those two branches are perceived to be the most desirable.

True, however the reason is not because of his naturalization status, but because of your gender.

Just ask all of the "natural born" citizens that ended up in Canada during Vietnam. A natural born male is just as "bound" to serve as a naturalized male.

They found that if the wife was five or more years older than her husband, they were more than three times as likely to divorce than if they were the same age. If the age gap is reversed, and the man is older than the woman, the odds of marital bliss are higher."

The work is published in the European Journal of Operational Research.
