National Visa Center (Dept of State)Fathers Address on DS 230 Form

Nobody's parents are called. The information about family is part of the vetting. If Dad lived in a terrorist country, then more security checks might be done. "Unknown" is an acceptable answer if you have a parent who has lost touch with the family.

Thanks Nich

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Fathers Address on DS 230 Form
Hi I'm sort of confused of what to do about my wife's father. In form DS-230 there is a place for father's phone number and address there. My wife is British and lives with her mother but her father is here in US. The problem here is they are both not in good relationship, they haven't spoke for years even he didn't come to our wedding that's how bad their relationship is. The father is a very very irresponsible man that doesn't care. We have fathers info through my wife's brother that lives with the father

My question is will they contact the father if we put his address and phone number or is it just a formality? My wife is afraid he will say wrong things to NVC to prevent her from coming to us if called.

Any enlightenment will help please. Has anyone's parent been called?

National Visa Center (Dept of State)october 31 approval, still no case number

So we got approved on October 31st and we still do not have an NVC case number. It has been almost a month and every time I call the  NVC they tell me that they have not even received our case and it could take up to 8 weeks!

Is anyone else encountering this long of a wait? Our I-129F was processed at the Texas Service Center

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)TURKEY~Why cant we get his medical done in Istanbul anymore?

Thanks! this is good to know! but I know really, this changes quite a bit from the plans we had in mind. But ya i might have Ismail jump on the bus feom kadikoy too, or the big otogar. At least its not too expensive! But how did he do his medical already? Did he go before and get his medical done then go back? Cuz i really wonder how many days he needs to wait from when he gets it done, to when he can pick it up, its a waste of money to have him stay in the hotel for a week there :/

Any good hotels near the embassy?

He didn't do his medical just yet. His medical appointment is June 18 and his interview is June 25. So after he finishes his medical appointment on the 18th, he will just come home. We both will stay 1 night in Best Western (really close to the embassy & I only paid $78 USD) on June 24 and pick up his results that day. His interview is at 7:40 AM, it would be hard to arrive to Ankara that early in the morning, so we decided to stay the night before.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)TURKEY~Why cant we get his medical done in Istanbul anymore?

It is much harder to plan for those who live far from Ankara.

Also, note that they will have to pick up their medical results from there, as usually they are not given the same day.

So, my husband got a bus ticket in Kadikoy for about 38 Lira to Ankara about 1 week before his interview and then we will arrive 1 day before his interview to stay in a hotel and pick up his results that day before the interview.

The medical office barely picks up the phone, but when they did they told my husband they are only holding the medical results for about a few weeks and that they are unable to mail them to the embassy or to your home.

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Turkey...police records and medical, advice? Experience?

My husband just went for his medical earlier this week. He only paid the minimum $170 (about 315 Lira), he didn't have to get any shots. He did bring some medical records, the doctor said they were kind of old, but since he is still young, he wont make him get the shots again, my husband is 23.

National Visa Center (Dept of State)Just Received NVC/Embassy File Number

Did you email the DS-3032 yet?

I found this very helpful when I was at the NVC stage;

http://www.visajourn...he_NVC_ShortCut

Also the FAQ on this thread is extremely helpful.

http://www.visajourn...ilers-may-2013/

What do I do after my case number is assigned?
Get the IIN from an operator (ask for the 'Invoice Identification Number', not IIN). If you are doing online forms (check eligibility in the first post), also ask for the Beneficiary Identification Number (BIN). Give over the email addresses of the beneficiary and petitioner. Email the DS-3032 (from the beneficiary's email address) following the template linked above. If you are doing EP, then send the optin email. If you are doing online forms, send the DS-261 online (may take a day or two before you can sign onto the online forms portal).

VietnamPersonal issues re my Viet Nam girlfriend
Posted 18 July 2011 - 12:48 PM
I'm getting a much better impression of what is culturally normal, based on the good responses received here. Thanks to everyone for your help.

Well, I understand that $2000 or $5000 would have been a fortune in VN back in the 1990s when she told me her BF was paying that. I think even now her job only pays about $350-500 in USD equivalent per month. To answer your question, here are some red flags, staying at or above the "R" rating:

1. A nice big house; she says she built it about 2003,
2. Lots of apparent money, a nice lifestyle (ex: she had a maid until 2008 or 2009 ),
3. On my late 2009 visit, there were wads of cash under her bed when I got there, which disappeared a couple of days later,
4. There were men's shirts in her closet; which she said had belonged to her old BF, but according to her he was out of the picture back in the 1990s and her house was built in 2003.
5. There was very very sexy lingerie in her closet; it was far and above anything my ex-wife ever wore for me! (but I probably had very dull marriage, haha),
6. Without going into detail, there were physical intimacies and webcam behavior which I believe were not spontaneous,
(she seems to have very good knowledge of a man's body),
7. Searching her email addresses discloses some Skype user names she has not and will not tell me about.
8. In her Skype account, she had between 100-200 blocked accounts, all men, from around the world,
9. Right before my late 2009 visit, she had sent an email to a man telling him she missed him and attached a picture of her that I had taken in front of a church; he replied telling her he loved her; when she was here in 2010 I called him at telephone number in his email and he called back in 30 minutes!
10. She wears a very big diamond platinum ring; she tells me she bought it for herself.
11. She used to go out in the late afternoons, all dressed up looking sexy, but this seemed to stop a couple of years ago.
12. Before I visited in late 2009, she sold a big motorcycle that was much too big for her

OK, now that I'm reading what I've just written...I'm an old fool!

I think you had an answer , she seems having illicit work and wrongful woman .I am sorry .

United KingdomAOS and previous arrest

Hi,

My K1 has been approved and I'm due to travel soon.

I just read the AOS I-485 and noticed that there is another question about arrest history. Basically about 7 years ago I was arrested in a case of mistaken identity while in a bar. It was cleared up in a few hours and I declared it on my DS160. My ACPO police certificate says no trace.

The I-485 goes on about having a formal statement from the police about it. Do they just mean the ACPO police certificate or do I need to get something more?

I have got my advance parole document while AOS is pending and plan to make a trip home. Have anybody experienced any problem with passport control or airline company travelling from Russia back to USA with advance parole? Is there anything I can do to prevent a problem? Have you translated your advance parole for the russian passport control? I am really conserned that russian officers know anything about it.
I appreciate any information. Thank you.

United KingdomPeople between NOA2 and Interview ~2009~
Hey guys,
Good luck to all of you who are going for their interviews. Just wanted to know if anyone who had their interview on the 14th of Oct, have received their passports yet.
I had my medical on the 9th of Oct and my interview on the 14th. Since my medical results were not avaible at that time of the interview (due to to the weekend), I was told I was "approved pending medical". I know I am just being anxious but since I am not a UK citizen, there is a slight niggling thought that keeps popping into my head that they might want to keep my passport longer for further checks. Although to be honest, the interview was fine, the CO was a nice lady who essentially said "I don't see there being a problem if your medical is fine".
So, I guess I'm just getting antsy and wanted to figure out when I should start getting worried. Thanks for listening to my ramblings biggrin.gif

QUOTE (macd @ Sep 16 2009, 01:10 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi there Tam, I'm sorry to hear you've been so delayed thus far.

Packet 3 is really just the forms and checklist that you need to fill out and send back to the embassy. Seeing as you have already filled all that out, all you need to do now is post it all to the embassy!

Check out this link for more info: http://london.usemba...a/iv/iv_15.html
(Packet 3 nowadays is often just a letter from the embassy which contains your case number and this link to online documents that you fill out and print)

Thanks for your advice macd. Just to let u know, I sent another email to the embassy after posting onto this forum, asking them when I could send in my forms. To my surprise, they sent a reply within 8 hours, which is as below.

"As long as you have a case number, which you do, you download the forms from the website and complete and return them to the Immigrant Visa Unit. If you wish to wait for official notification, you should allow a further 3 – 4 weeks. You will not be sent forms, however, you will be instructed to download them from the Embassy website."

Needless to say, I went straight to the post office after getting this email, to post off the forms. Now we wait and see what happens next. Thank you once again macd for taking the time to reply. It just nice that somebody actually understands your frustrations about this whole crazy visa process. Cheers!

United KingdomPeople between NOA2 and Interview ~2009~
Hi,
My name is Tam and I have been following this forum for a long time (since my K1 petition as sent off) but have never posted on any of these forums. I currently am "stuck in a situation" and was hoping for some advice/suggestions.
Essentially, my fiance and I received the NOA2 on the 31st of July, which was then forwarded to NVC where it was stuck at AP for a bit. Finally on the 17th of August, it was finally forwarded to the US embassy in London. Now, since the 17th, I have been waiting for my packet 3 to be generated and this has yet to happen (even after waiting for almost a month now).
I have been on the phone numerous times these past few weeks with both the DOS and the embassy (via the premium line) only to be told that packet 3 has not been generated yet. Now for the confusing bit - there were two occasion where I was told by the embassy, there was a slight glitch and it showed on the system that I was currently awaiting an interview date. This is the part that confuses me seeing as I never sent in any forms to the embassy as yet. I was given a reference number and told to email the consular services. So I emailed the embassy, telling them its been a month and I have not received packet 3 as yet, only to be told to download the forms. That was it, no instructions or advice as to when packet 3 was going to be generated or when to send the forms in. So I called the premium line again today, only to be told to wait as my packet 3 had still not been generated yet, and to call in a week.
So to cut my long, confusing story short, my question is, what do I do now? I have filled out all the paperwork for packet 3 (just waiting to send it off) and all the documents needed for the interview have all been sorted. Anyone have any suggestions, or anyone else, who is in the same boat as me??? PLS HELP!!!!

We are quite different. My husband lost his weight when he was living in VN. I just cooked vegetables for him and he went to gym class at least 3 times per week. When we moved to the US all his relatives complaint that he looked skinny. It is not the tradition in VN but that is the way to show love from each people smile.gif. I think so.

IndiaFormat for Police Certificate in INDIA
I went thru the process like 1 month ago in Bangalore. PCC format is not decided by you or me. It is the issuing authority (Passport office / Police station) who will decide what they want to write. I got mine in the exact format which is posted by doc_cute.

IndiaDo i need 2 PCCs for different addresses even if they are within same city?
This doesnt sound any right. I have gone thru the same dilemma as i lived in 4 different states. It was almost impossible to get PCC from all these places. All i did was get 2 PCCs from the place i was living. One from the Office of the Commissioner of Police and one from the Regional Passport Office. Also note that you can apply at the nearest Regional Passport Office for passport PCC as long as you have residential proof. Your passport may have been issued from different place but it doesnt matter.

This is totally based on my personal experience and i was not even asked for Local PCC. All they asked for was PCC issued from the RPO.

IndiaWhere is Thread on Obtaining Indian Police Certificate

I tried to edit the post again but the whole post i made can be summerized in one short line "Just go to the nearest Regional Passport Office and ask them what is the procedure to get PCC."

SalJoyMaleIndia2013-06-09 22:24:00
IndiaWhere is Thread on Obtaining Indian Police Certificate

I will try my level best to give you as much information as i can to make this clear. I know it looks like very complicated process to obtain PCC from india but its not. Its very easy as long as you follow the right process.

If the person obtaining the PCC has lived in multiple states/towns, he/she does not have to obtain the PCC from every state/town. You only need to get the PCC from the current state you are living in. (I lived in 5 different states but only had to get the PCC from the state i was residing at that time).

Just go to the nearest Regional Passport Office and ask them what is the procedure to get PCC.

In some states, they require you to have some sort of proof that you really need PCC. I am from Gujarat and i know there they do. In other states (Mumbai, Bangalore etc.) they do not require any proof that you really need PCC. They will issue the PCC on the same day or probably in a week or so.

Now if your passport has address from state A and you live in state B, you do not need to get PCC from state A. You are only required to collect the PCC from state B. Your passport address does not matter. What matters is where you live right now. ( My passport had Gujarat address but i was living in Bangalore at the time and it took me 3 days to get the PCC stamped on my passport)

There are two different types of PCC. One from Local Police Station and another one from Local Passport Office. You do not need to obtain PCC from Local Police Station (its a different process and takes longer time).

If the address on your passport does not match the current address and you apply the PCC at Regional Passport Office, they will send the inquiry to your Local Police Station. When the form comes to the Local Police Station, they come to your house and ask around. They will send the form back to the Passport Office and it will be processed and your PCC will be ready to be picked up. You can request them expedite the whole process if your interview date is very close by showing them your interview letter. You may have to carry the form around to get the required signatures. (I know some people who had to do that)

When you get your PCC from RPO (Regional Passport Office), they will issue the certificate on Paper and will also put a stamp on your passport.

Just remember to carry some sort of Address Proof when you apply for the PCC from Regional Passport Office.

Check this link: http://passportindia...sor/pccPassport

When you go the page, answer the question as per your status and it will show you what kind of Address Proof is accepted.

If you are in AP, there is nothing you can do except wait for it to complete. Generally it takes 6-8 weeks to complete AP but sometimes it takes months. Stay positive and it will be over soon. :)

You do not need PCC from every city or state you have lived since 16. You need only one PCC that is from the passport office which you said you already have.

There are lots of threads regarding this. I suggest you to do the search.

I have heard different opinions on this, why do you say the local police clearance is also required? I was told that the passport office will already be contacting them.

You are absolutely correct. There is absolutely no need to get Police Clearance Certificate from the local police station.

PCC from local police station is not required at all. In K-1 context, PCC stands for Passport Clearance Certificate. It does not mean Police Clearance Certificate. Abbreviation of both is PCC which confuses a lot of people.

IndiaBirth Certificate and Passport Etc. Have Different Age

As most of you probably know, lots of folks in India do not have a birth certificate, and for this reason's people's school records are used to show their age.

Not true. People do have their birth certificate as registration of birth is mandatory in India and is done right when the child is born. My birth certifacate was issued on the same day I was born with "Name" column left blank which was filled later. Same thing with my brothers, sisters, cousins etc....

The reason you are not getting any replies is because this is a very rare situation and not may people have two "birth" dates.

You can send a letter with your documents explaining them why the two dates are different or you can consult an attorney and he may be able to guide you..

Australia and New ZealandVictoria Police Check

Hi Everyone,

I received my packet 3 email for my fiance K1 visa at the end of October and am currently going through the not so fun process of getting my Victoria Police check. After having them incorrectly send my application back to me due to after an error made on their end, I have been waiting for it since Fri 8th November 2013.

However, there does seem to be some confusion about whether or not to get a name check only or fingerprint check. (I got a name check only. I have written two emails to the U.S. Consulate General, Sydney and received the following reply assuring me that a police name check only is fine. I have attached both emails.

As there seems to be some confusion however, I would LOVE to hear from anyone who has submitted a police name check only as part of their packet 3 and received the a-ok and got the visa appointment set and packet 4.

Thanks heaps and good luck to everyone out there, it feels AMAZING to know other people are out there going through the same thing as me and my American fiance!

Thank you for your recent inquiry.

Note: you only need to apply for 1 Australian police certificate.

Your certificate can be based on a name check or fingerprint check.

If it?s based on a name check, it must contain all aliases previously and presently used. Failure to provide a name check certificate with all aliases may result in the consular officer refusing your application for a police certificate based on a fingerprint check.

I have been informed in the email below that in regards to the Australian police certificate "Your certificate can be based on a name check or fingerprint check."

However on the US Embassy Canberra website http://canberra.usem...aqs.html#police it states:

"What sort of police check do I need? Do I have to apply in each state?

The Australian police check must be done on the basis of a fingerprint check."

Which do I need, a fingerprint check or a name check?
