IMBRA Special TopicsAmerican Embassy (Paris) Returned Our File to USCIS

Bon soir,

My finace is also in France. Our NOA1 receipt date is March 6, how unlucky is that, NOA2 march 31. Sent ot Paris Embassy by NVC apr 12. Fiance received
Instruction pkt Apr 24, returned checklist etc. May 5. Never heard a word from the embassy afterward.. tried in vain to contact them from his side of the planet and mine. finally received an email from CRIS that my I129F petition had been received by USCIS - no explanation why, assume due to IMBRA and the March 6 NOA1 receipt date. Got antoher email June 20 that case has been reopened on motion of USCIS and will recieve decision when processing completed. I assume the case is back at the NSC where it originated, I was not informed that it had been transferred to CSC as many other NSC K1 petitioners have said. Hopefully, if this is the result of IMBRA, the RFE will arrive shortly and we can get back on track.

Do you or any other people with fiancees in France know how to contact the french embassy - NOT the call center (that is not even located in Paris I learned after shelling out 15 euros to talk to an operator who told me the only option as to appear in person in Paris on Friday afternoons and hope you get into to talk to someone). This is not real convenient as my fiance is in marseille.

When you call the embassy. Be sure to say that you are an American calling from the US to speak to someone in the Immigration Visa Department. This was the only way I was able to talk to a live person without being charged 15 Euros. 33 1 43 12 22 22

This is how I found out that my case had been sent back to NVC. I spoke to them on 4/21/06.

IMBRA Special TopicsRECALLED PETITION - UPDATE
Merci beaucoup pour tout les choses!
Ah, tell your husband that I said thank you. I will soon be a married woman as well. :)

I am very organized and I plan everything which doesn't usually match my expectations of the government and immigration. As you see in my timeline, we are planning a family blessing of our marriage in May. I originally wanted to be married this fall, but IMBRA sacked those plans.

I am sitting at work now. Extremely tired, because I couldn't sleep. My flight doesn't leave until 10 tonight. I will definitely be knocked out.

One last question. How long did it take for you to receive your visa after the interview. I know that sleepless took a month because of other reasons.

We will try to put something about the interview online. I couldn't find a single recent Paris experience on visajourney. So, I thank you for your reponse.

A bientot.

IMBRA Special TopicsRECALLED PETITION - UPDATE

Hey.....where is everybody? How are all of you doing?

Good luck to Shayrene, interview 11/29

and Timmaricel, Zethris, Madman, all with interviews 12/4 (have you guys coordinated for your fiancés to meet? Now that would be great!)

and milestogo, 12/5

Good luck! Let us know how it goes! I'm still keeping the chart up! hahahahaha!

Thanks americanwoman. Any last minute advice for the Paris embassy? I am leaving on Monday to attend the interview. My fiance is very stressed about it. I told him to relax. I think it will be better after it is over and we can enjoy his last days in Paris. :)

Could you also tell me about your fiance's flight? How and when did you book it? Do you know of cheap one-ways or did you buy a aller-retour? I know that you went through JFK. My return flight is scheduled for the next week and I hope that my fiance can be on it with me.

IMBRA Special TopicsToo Depressed
I have tried to be as patient as one could expect given the situation. I did not go see my fiance this summer, because I thought he would be here by now and because I've been waiting for this IMBRA stuff to finish. I miss him too much. It has been too long since I have seen him. Anyway, as much as I am indebted to this website for its help through the process. I am going to take a break. Although I am happy for everyone here, reading the posts of people being approved after submitting in June is depressing me. :( I promise I will come back and share any news that I do receive, whenever I do receive it.

Signing off for now,
Thank you so much VJ

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaJamaican Embassy Interview questions
I am waiting on the NOA2 for my fiance in Jamaica. I am trying to get things together for the interview stage so that the rest of this process would not be as long. Question.

1)Can anyone who recently had an interview in Kingston for a fiance visa remember what documents were required for the I-134. I have so far gotten a transcript of my income tax filed for 2005, my w2, 6 months worth of pay stubs, and job letter. I know each embassy has thier own special preferences so I trying to make sure that I have it covered.

2) In respect to the bank letter which I am still working on, is there a feeling that a particular balance is required or are they more concerned about the amount deposited over the past year?

3)What was the time frams between the packet 3 and packet 4 and then time between 4 and the interview?

4) My fiance keep insisting that I go with her to the embassy. Nervous I guess. Do you think my presence there would help. I have been to Jamaica about 6 times in the past year and at $300.00 a trip, airfare is taking a toll on me, not to forget vacation time is running low.

5) Any special things to look out for with the Jamaican embassy?

Mexico, Latin & South AmericaJamaican Embassy Interview questions
I hope I have finally found the right place to post this question.

My fiance has her interview at the Jamaican embassy on October 31st 2006. I am 99% certain that I would be there even if it for moral support. So I am hoping to get some pointers for anyone who had an interview in Jamaica recently.

1) Do I need the last tax return or the last 3. The instructions from the embassy was unclear.

2) My income exceed the 125% treshold comfortably by about $15,000.00 so I am not worried about that area for the I-134. I am wondering however how much of an importance is the bank statement since I just have a couple thousand saved, but just curious as to what is "enough" for the interview.

3) Anything special to look out for at the interview. Any questions that jumped out at you or anything that you found the person conducting the interview focussing on.

4) do you think me being at the interview helps? We were hoping that she would have been here already and I am heading to Jamaica this weekend because I think that 6 months apart is taking a toll on her. I was hoping that I would not have to return a month later, but I just do not want to make this any more stressful for her so I am going to bite the bullet and make it back in October only if it will help. I am doing the "ticket" dance hoping Air Jamaica has another sale again.

Anything that you can tell me about the interview would be appreciated. Questions, concerns, tips etc.

I really want to say that reading this forum has been such a blessing for me. I keep telling my fiance that the US may be a culture shock to the laid back life of Jamaica. Your experiences have definitely given me some pointers in lil "adjustments" to look out for.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMy wife just left Odessa for Kiev and 8am interview at embassy.

CONGRATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So exciting!!! Please, tell all the details when you can!!! We have one in a week...again, CONGRATULATIONS!

I just got full details of the whole interview.

She said they first divided everyone into 2 lines. One line for people immigrating to USA and line for other visa's.
She said her line was short. Mostly parents immigrating who's children were USA citizens. She was the only one who was married and two others who were finacee's

Everyone was let in at 8:15am where they turned in their papers.

My wife said she was third person to turn in papers but 6th person called. First she was called to speak to a Women who collected all documents. This Woman asked her few questions such as How we met, when we married, what I did for living and what language my wife wanted her interview in. My wife chose english.
She was then told to have a seat for interview.

When called for interview she was asked again what language. The interviewer was impressed with my wife choosing English. She was only one there who did. The fact she chose english impressed them very much and it did seem to have an effect on a very quick interview. She was asked same questions as before (how we met and when we married) and that was all. Nothing else to it and she was approved. She was out the door at 10:45am

She said only one person was declined and it was because of a missing document. They were told once they brought the document they would be given visa.

So overall very easy and now that it is over we realized we worried for nothing.
I do not know if it mattered or not but my wife said they asked alot more questions of others who were having interviews done and took longer time with them. She felt because of the interviewers reaction to her requesting english for interview which she described as being very happy and pleasantly surprised by, possibly led to such an easy interview with 2 simple questions.

I cannot say if this is reason or not but possibly it could not hurt if the person going to interview chose to do so in English if they are fluent.
While others were still approved maybe language choice could make things a little easier.

Russia, Ukraine and BelarusMy wife just left Odessa for Kiev and 8am interview at embassy.

Congratulations!!

Can you, plz, update your timeline? Thanks

I actually did not update my timeline because my wife and I delayed the process ourselves.
We are actually an IR-1 case and she will get her 10 year greencard.

My wife was still finishing her education and when we began this process my life was under a corporation. I had to disolve the corp and wait to file taxes under my own name for the I-864.

My wife has now received her Masters Degree and I finally had the proper taxes under my name so we decided it was time to finish.

I did not want to give anyone false impressions to times since it was our own doing. We waited 8 months after NOA2 before even begining NVC phase and the whole process we really took our time through since we knew we had the time.

Andrea
