K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOMG - Received NOA2 Today!!!

Congratulations.  You are officially now the closest person to my timeline that I've seen get a non-expedited approval (I assume there was no expedite).  I still don't "expect" my approval until between July and October, but it's a weird sort of excitement knowing that someone who's NOA1 date was only 2-1/2 weeks before mine has been approved.

EDIT: After re-checking Igor's list, it appears more timelines have been updated, and there is actually one from January 31....that's merely 8 days before me.   It just seems so strange to see someone that close getting approved while still expecting to wait a few months....I'm happy for all the approvals though.

Thanks.  This was totally unexpedited (and unexpected) early approval.  At this point, I think all of January is fair game for approval.  And soon after, February.  We wish you a speedy approval.

yey!!!!!!!!!!!!! another january filer! congratulations!!!!!

Amen!!!  At January 25 NOA1, yours will be very soon.  I wish the best for you.

Congrats dancin5hr.gif

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestions about timing of Fee Payment and Interview - Manila Embassy

Surely, you can choose your interview date.

SLEC is on a first come, first served basis.  They don't schedule the medical exam (you don't need to make an appointment with them), however, a passport is required when doing the medical exam. They won't let you do it if you don't have a valid passport on-hand.

Thanks for your reply.  Do you know if we need to have the NVC case number before we can schedule the interview?

Also, any advice anyone has about how to expedite processing of NSO bc would be appreciated - especially since this will be the 2nd time we request it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestions about timing of Fee Payment and Interview - Manila Embassy

My fiancée and I recently received NOA2, and want to move to the next steps.  At what point can we pay the visa application fees?  Do we have to complete any of the DS forms before paying and scheduling the interview and medical exams?  Does anyone know what the current wait time is for an interview (how many weeks from now appointments are available)?

Here is our issue.  My fiancée has two children.  Her daughter, who is 4 years old never received her birth certificate (bc).  My fiancée got a certificate from the lvr (or lcr).  Anyway, she went to city hall and requested that the bc be sent for NSO verification about 8 weeks ago.  Yesterday the NSO sent her a notice that there is no record of the birth.  So, I'm afraid now she has to file again for NSO certification - because it seems that the lvr didn't file the bc in the records.

Anyway, we don't want there to be a 6-8 week delay waiting for the NSO bc so her daughter can get her passport, so we would like to get the medical exams and interview scheduled now in advance, so they occur just after the expected arrival of the NSO bc and passport for her daughter.  Can we schedule all of those things in advance, without having the NSO bc and passport of her daughter?

Her other child already had NSO bc and passport.

Thanks for your help.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWe Got an RFE

I wish you good luck on your RFE, at least they have opened your file is the best way to look at it. I thoroughly expect an RFE also do to the significant age discrepency in my particular case, but am keeping my fingers crossed.
In the meantime I have written another Senator challenging them to call the USCIS Oumsbudsman office and to post my petition link on there webpage (lol)
http://wh.gov/e1uJ

If you do get an RFE for age difference, please let me know. I am a January filer in the same boat. I can't imagine what they could expect you to do to resolve an RFE for age difference???

And, I'm recently divorced. I sent in all 3 pages of the divorce decree, but not the entire divorce settlement agreement (that's a huge document). So, I guess I may be vulnerable to 2 RFE's when my time comes... I sure hope not!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 13 2013 NOA2 - Not Received by NVC Yet - What to Do???

Have you tried calling USCIS to inquire as to weather it actually left CSC? they give the standard 30 day answer i think to buy time and keep people from complaining but that's not the norm... I got my NOA2 on May 28th and they told me yesterday that the've received my case.. i would try calling USCIS to ask

Thanks for the encouragement.  I did submit a research request to nvc at nvcresearch@state.gov with a scanned hard copy of the noa2.  Now it's just a matter of waiting for the results of that.  Meanwhile, I will continue to call the nvc every day.

Also, one of the representatives I spoke to today advised me that submission times from csc have been longer than usual lately.  Is anyone else from csc experiencing a long delay on receipt by the nvc?

yes. i called uscis yesterday too, and i was escalated to tier 2.  they told me it takes 30-90 days, even though sometimes it's faster.  i'm really bummed out that i happen to be one of those who falls through the cracks.  but i guess that's the way it goes sometimes.  i received noa2 faster than usual and got really excited, but now i'm getting a slower than normal service on the transfer to the nvc.

You don't need mla case number to pay her interview fee. I pay mine right after I got my noa2. So after 15 days of waiting for the case number I'm ready to set my interview. Keep calling them everyday.

when my fiancée went to bpi to pay the fee, they told her she needs the mla case number

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMay 13 2013 NOA2 - Not Received by NVC Yet - What to Do???

I received my NOA2 notification by email on May 13, 2013, followed shortly thereafter by notice in the mail.  I never received any notice yet from the NVC that they have received my case from the California Service Center.  I called NVC today for the first time, and they say they have not yet received my file, and that it takes up to 30 days to receive it.  Is that typical?  I had heard it should only take 7-10 days for NVC to receive it.  What should I do next?  I need the MNL case number so my fiancee can pay the filing fees and schedule the visa interview in Manila.  I appreciate any advice.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCalled NVC but no case number yet

We finally got our case number this past Tuesday.  The NVC got the file on Monday, and when I called back again Tuesday, they had already entered it into their system and assigned the case number.  Total time from NOA2 was 42 days.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsCalled NVC but no case number yet

Not to be a downer... but we received NOA2 on May 13, and the NVC still has no record of having received our file from CSC.  The average transfer time is 14 days based on VJ data, and then another 4 days spent at NVC prior to shipping to embassy.  Needless to say we're not happy.  We have initiated service request at USCIS and research request at NVC.  Sure hope one of those bears fruit soon, cuz being stuck in limbo really sucks.  It only took 111 days for NOA2, and now already 38 days have passed just to transfer the file from one location to another.  Something is definitely wrong with this visa approval process!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI called NVC !! and got a bad news

We finally got our MNL case number after 42 days - daily calls to NVC, filing a research request at NVC, a service request at USCIS, and an Infopass visit at the local USCIS office.  I have no idea whether all the things I did helped, but we're just happy to have the case moving again.  Medical exams this week, and interview July 11.  I hope all goes smoothly from here on out.

Make Info Pass by using the USCIS web site. The meeting is held at the closest USCIS office to your location. You can not meet with CSC staff.

They only give 4 choices for type of appointment.  And none of those choices seems to apply:

We offer 4 kinds of appointments for a case that you have already filed. Please choose from the following - Order from Immigration Court - If you were directed to us for processing based on an order from the Immigration Judge. You must bring all documents required in the post order instructions given to you by the court.
Case Processing Appointment - If you received a notice to go to your local office for further case processing.
EAD inquiry appointment - If your I-765 employment authorization application has been pending for more than 90 days.
Case Services follow-up appointment - If it has been over 45 days since you contacted NCSC and have not received a response to your inquiry. You must bring the Service Request ID Number related to your inquiry to the appointment.

Which of these 4 is the right one to choose?

the problem lies at the local offices and how they forward them to the nvc.. this is the unknown for the ir/cr1 approvals.. some have taken as much as 90 days

I had the same issue.. have you made an infopass? your file is sitting at the local office still unless it has been sent to nvc already... you can get lots of info if you go to the local office that approved your petition.

What is an infopass, and how do you request one for the CSC?

I been waiting for more than two months going for the 2 1/2 i got an email from NVC that USCIS retained my case... anyone knows why or how long does it take to send it?

I would contact USCIS customer service and tell them to submit service request to transfer your file to NVC.  I just did that for my file 2 days ago.  I received NOA2 on May 13, and NVC still has no record of receiving it.  I call them every day, but still no sign of it.  I submitted research request email to NVC, but still haven't heard anything yet.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI called NVC !! and got a bad news

I've been waiting for almost two months. I got our noa2 on April 18th and still nothing. I call everyday and they tell me to send emails to research. Ive sent 3 emails so far and only got one response which basically said to scan and emai, a copy of our noa2 which I had already included in the email they were responding to!! It's very frustrating bc everyone said after our noa2 the process would be a lot quicker. :/

i did the same with NVC, but also called USCIS and asked them to initiate a service request.  I did that on 6/18, and they said they would have an answer to me by July 3 (I'm hopeful, but not holding my breath - haha).  I'm trying to attack the problem from both ends - sender and receiver.  Just thought you might want to try the same.  Good luck to all of us.

Two months - that's discouraging to hear.  I don't understand how some files take so long, and others take just a week.  It's so arbitrary and ridiculous.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI called NVC !! and got a bad news

I have tried to explain exactly what USCIS told us. They cant tell you where it is because they don't scan the cases into the system as you think they do. This delay creates the appearance that a case might be lost. It is in fact in the limbo you describe.

Your case has moved along fairly quickly from what your time line shows. Hopefully you will remain lucky in the end. My own case took 408 days so I know what the waiting feels like. You are a long way from that agony.

You're right.  We were fortunate to have a relatively fast NOA2 approval, but now it seems we are on the losing end with an unusually long time for receipt by NVC.  I thought it would be smooth sailing once we received NOA2, and my fiancee and I would b together soon.  But I guess this whole process is fraught with pitfalls all along the way.  How absolutely frustrating.  408 days.  I don't know how you did it!!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsI called NVC !! and got a bad news

We are having the same problem.  Our petition was approved May 13 (NOA2), and the NVC still has no record of receiving our file.  I am on the phone with them every day, and have sent an email with a copy of the NOA2 to the research email address.  Still nothing yet.

If they bar code and inventory the items at the service center before sending them to NVC, then how come they can

t tell me where the file is.  It fees right now like it's lost in limbo - not at CSC, but also not received yet at NVC.  It's very frustrating to be so close to finishing this process, and then to be at the mercy of an inefficient case transfer system.

Well the hard part if waiting is over my friend. Now just a few more things and you will be able to move on with your new life. That's what counts.

I'm glad to see that you got your case number too.  Hopefully the rest of the process is smooth sailing for all of us.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOur File is in Limbo after NOA2

We finally got our MNL number after 42 days - after filing service request at USCIS, research request at NVC, and Infopass at the local USCIS office.  It's still not clear to me whether any of the additional requests sped up the processing of our file, because I never received replies indicating resolution from USCIS or NVC.  Regardless, we are really happy to have things moving forward in Manila.  But 42 days is completely unreasonable.

My letter talked about being forwarded to the Consulate also. NOA2 May 30/ MNL case number assigned June 17th. Seems everyone is having different results. sad.png

Wow!!!  You're cruising right through the process.  Just 3 months for NOA2, and 19 days for MNL number.  Congrats!!!  Good luck with everything in the Manila phase of the process.

pataconeMalePhilippines2013-06-18 16:19:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOur File is in Limbo after NOA2

our NOA2 also says forwarded to consulate. it tooks us almost a month after approval date before NVC finally told us that they got our case on their hand. what we did was we called NVC from the 15th days from approval date but they said they didn't received our case yet. we called them several times until they asked a copy of our NOA2 so my fiance sent them a scanned copy. i also called the embassy hoping that they got our case but they said they don't have it and it's supposed to go to NVC from the center and advice me to keep calling NVC and USCIS office. after a couple days from sending NVC a copy of our NOA2, we got a positive result, they got our case now and that they will be sending it to the embassy this week. so my advice is to try calling also the USCIS office since they were the last one who processed the case, then the NVC and the embassy just to make sure if they have it or not. somehow, those who got NOA2 that says "forwarded to consulate" are having unnecessary delays compared to those that says "forwarded to NVC". we all know that all petitions should go to NVC after getting approved and not directly to the embassy. just be patient and be pro active, the last thing we want are misplaced/lost cases.. good luck

I'm glad they finally received your case.  Good luck in the next steps of the process in Manila.  Ours is still missing so far.  I called USCIS and embassy in Manila.  Neither has our case.  I also sent email with copy of NOA2 to research department of NVC last week, but they still have not responded to my inquiry (just auto-response email).  When you got the positive result, was it via email reply to your inquiry, or when you called the NVC again?

I hope they find ours soon.  It has been 36 days already since NOA2. sad.png

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsOur File is in Limbo after NOA2

NOA2 received 5/13/13 from CSC.  The I-797 indicates it will be sent to the consulate, not NVC.  I have been calling the NVC every day the past 2 weeks, and also have sent an email to their research email address with a copy of NOA2.  But so far, they can't help.  All they say is keep waiting.  It's already been 34 days - way too long for a file to make its way from California to New Hampshire!!!

I called the USCIS customer service number last week, and they were not helpful.  I was escalated to tier 2, but all they told me is that it can take as long as 90 days to reach the consulate.

I called USCIS customer service again today, and they suggested that maybe the file was sent directly to the embassy, if that's what was indicated on the NOA2, even though its not the standard process.  So, tonight at 7 pm central US time, I will begin calling the US embassy in Manila.

Has anyone ever heard of a file going directly to the embassy without first going to NVC???

My fiancee and I are so frustrated by this latest situation.  We are so close to being together... and then this unexpected delay!!!  If we just had that MNL number, we could be together here in the US in late July or early August.  But with this delay, there is no telling when!!!

Any suggestions on what we can do to get the file back on track???

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsStupidest RFE in immigration history!

That is so frustrating for you. i'm so confused now. We are about to finalise our forms. Should we be writing N/A even though it is only a tick box and none of them apply to us??

For part C, I typed N/A in the box for question #1.  I checked the No box for question #2.  I did not check any of the boxes in question #3.  If you check No for question #2, then there is no need for any response to question #3.

pataconeMalePhilippines2013-04-28 10:58:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsStupidest RFE in immigration history!

Yes, I have been convicted of a crime related to theft with a former girlfriend, because we had possession of each others items. There was not any theft. Since it involved a girlfriend, it automatically becomes a domestic violence offence.

Regardless, question 3 is totally irrelevant to the situation, as neither of us suffered extreme cruelty or torture lol

If you responded yes to question #2, then you have to check one of the boxes in question 3.  In your case, it would be the 3rd box.  But I question why you answered yes to question #2.  What you describe does not sound to me like domestic violence - but if your conviction states otherwise, then I guess you have to answer yes.  You might consider adding a supplement with a typed description of the conviction.

MNL number finally received on June 23.  I filed research request with NVC, service request with USCIS, and paid a personal visit to the local USCIS office in St Louis using infopass.  There is no telling whether any of those efforts hastened the process, but at least everything moved very quickly after.  So 42 days from NOA2 to NVC (ridiculous, right???) for a process that should take no longer than 2 weeks.  Anyway, at least the NVC and Manila consulate moved quickly.  The case was out the door and in the hands of the embassy by June 25.  Case was moved to ready status by June 28.  My fiancee (and her two kids) motored through the forms, medical exams, and CFO seminar - and had her interview on July 11 (made up for some lost time).  Approved!!!dancin5hr.gif  170 days total from NOA1 to approval.  Visas will be in-hand this week.  And my fiancee will be here on August 18.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportscase forwarded to consulate

we already called them several times from our 15th days from approval date. they said they didn't received our case yet. they even requested for a copy of our noa2. i know that all cases must be forwarded to the nvc after getting approved before they sent them to the embassy to get our mnl#. i just don't understand why uscis will send some with noa2 stating that the case was forwarded to the listed consulate while the most common noa2 will say that it will be forwarded to the nvc like it's supposed to. if uscis sent our case to nvc indeed, (despite of what's our noa2 states) i wonder why they can't give us our mnl# and that they don't have it on their system yet when it's almost a month now since we got approved. i already talked with an embassy rep and she said that they don't have the case yet and that it's supposed to be in nvc first.

the last thing we want now are unnessary delays specially that it seems like we don't have any idea where our case is right now so i think it's better to be proactive about this. for now, we will be making the calls for nvc, the embassy and maybe uscis office. wish us luckcray5ol.gif

If we just had that MLA number, we could be together here in the US in late July or early August.  But with this delay, there is no telling when!!!

Hey guys - congrats on your NOA2 approval.  My fiancee and I received ours on May 13.  Have you heard anything from the NVC yet?  I called them today for the first time, and they said they haven't yet received my file from CSC.  They said it normally should be received from USCIS within 15 days.  They said that I could submit a research request by emailing a scanned copy of my hard-copy notice to nvcresearch@state.gov and they would use this request to contact USCIS to find out the status of my file.  I'd really like to get that MNL number, so that my fiancee can pay the fees and schedule the interview.  I was just wondering if you were in the same boat.

Looks like CSC has gone MIA again.  crying.gif   The 2 week binge was a great run - made up lots of lost ground - but there is still work to do!!!  If only it could have lasted longer.  Just give us 15 VJ approvals a day.  That's not an unreasonable pace.  That would get us all back to within 5 months.
