I intend on flying through Dublin when I finally head over too. Apparently alot easier to clear, quicker and you can relax on your flight over the atlantic knowing that it's all done. Also it's actually the cheapest and easiest route to US from glasgow anyways!

So, if you go via Dublin you don't have to go through immigration in the US? I don't get it, but if it works I want to know about it tongue.gif

That is great news. They really made in hard on you at the beginning of the process. Here´s to hoping things go smoothly from now on. smile.gif

Thank you. I have to admit it was awful not knowing for at least 90 days whether we might have to resubmit the whole thing and have our start date on this process put back 3 months. Thanks also for helping me keep sane by posting your thoughts and information you had researched on the problems at USCIS.

The July filer thread is where I thought I should be and has been my home for the past couple of months but I will be ecstatic if the receipt date on the NOA1 reflects the delivery date in August. I'll still keep checking in with you guys and looking forward to seeing smooth and timely approvals for each and every one of you. smile.gif

Because I don't do relaxing! It's ok that we have a plan B but I still worry about things like what happens if I don't get through immigration and my entire family are there for my wedding but I'm not?! That's the biggest worry I have really but I just have to try and play things by the book smile.gif Bring my evidence I am applying for K-1 and therefore am not going to breach conditions, show evidence tying me to this country etc...

You'll be fine. I noticed you said you were working as a temp. Along with your K1 packet you could, for insurance, tell the agency you will be returning to the country and actively seeking work if you have to take up plan B and get them to write a letter to verify that is your intention. If you still have a rent agreement that would be a good thing too. I think it is a worry, but as long as you have evidence to cover every possible question I doubt you'll have anything to worry about.

there is one thing a realized this week: this whole immigration-visa-thing is asking so much from our relationships, that i get the feeling that our relationship is so strong that it seems as if (besides the adjustment period, i am VERY MUCH afraid of that one) there is NOTHING that can break us.

Yeah, I only have doubts about the process, about the subjectivity of it all. Under normal circumstances, you fall in love, spend time with someone, make a commitment and not realise the weaknesses in your relationship until much later because people don't normally communicate their doubts until those aspects start to get to them.

We're all under so much pressure at such an early stage in the relationship, having to prove so much more, that I'm certain the cracks would be showing by now. I think having to go through this proves you have the resolve to be together and make it work no matter what.

It would be nice if the process were easier and more certain, but, I'm kind of grateful that going through this is making us realise how strong the commitment is and forcing us to communicate how much the relationship does mean to us all.

We're all so much closer to what we've been working so hard for smile.gif

I'm so impressed with myself, I've managed to avoid checking the USCIS website for a week!

Just got order confirmation for our wedding rings....ooooo exciting! I seriously hope I'm not pushing my luck for a 3rd May wedding! That would be sooo rubbish...I mean it's in MAY!!!! Here was me thinking that was way more than enough time but I admit I can't help the odd pang of panic!

hi weedebz how are you doing with your hand?
I've plan my wedding in May too the 17 ... I really hope that the July filers will have their NOA2 this year!!!

Babblesgirl....grats on the check cashing

Lilou...thanks the hand improving...in a matter of speaking.....thats all the feeling coming back but it means now i can feel of the pain!

Well it's sat night, Nick and I have some movies and I have a bottle of californian zinfandel...so here's to all of us and our loved ones......may it all go to plan and may we all have the long and happy lives we so deserve!! SLAINTE!!!

my gut feeling is you'll have the receipt date you're supposed to... you may have gathered from my other posts that my petition was sent on from VSC (where it was supposed to be sent, under the new filing rules) to CSC, and the note on the USCIS website says 'on 27th July, we received...', but the hard copy of the NOA1 says July 19, exactly as it was supposed to smile.gif
and the cheque has stamps on the back from both VSC and CSC... it's a mess back there laughing.gif

well done on staying sane til this point, anyway! I'm really glad you've finally moved to the next step (the Plateau of Ineffable Boredom; it's LOADS of fun wink.gif )

Thanks so much, i'm chuffed to bits too. It's also good to hear that your NOA1 had the correct date on. I'll keep you posted. That will be my next moment of excitement before I join you on the plateau of ineffable boredom tongue.gif

oh, babblesgirl; that's great news smile.gif

I don't know how you've managed not to go completely mad with the not-knowing... I'm not HAPPY waiting, but I'm reasonably patient; however, if my cheque hadn't even been cashed I think I would have been going stir-crazy blink.gif

were you able to get the receipt number off the back, and join us in the 'I think I'll just check the USCIS website once more' brigade? wink.gif

Hah! I must hide it well. I guess, I felt that there were so many others that were in a similar position and there's some comfort in having company even when things appear bleak. And I did feel really despondent and impatient at times.

OK, next job is getting that case number. I'm just in a 'thrilled the check has been cashed' mood right now and will leave the fretting over NOA1 and receipt number until later. I'm giving myself some time to feel excited before the impatience kicks in again. I still don't know what receipt date they're going to give us but I'm determined not to worry about that till it happens.

I will be wallowing in the comfort of being with the 'check the USCIS website once more' brigade very soon. I promise you...and I will be glad to be in that kind of company smile.gif

ok I've missed out on nearly a day here. Think I'm caught up on happenings!

Ended up in casualty today, got a bad scald to my left hand at work. Got minor nerve damage. They have frozen my left hand with a few shots and i have anaesthetic ointment to use for 3days. Currently it feels as if my hand belongs to someone else as totally numb! Probably good thing as apparently the first few days without this stuff is agony! Was kinda lucky in that the nearest hospital to my work has scotlands best burns unit! Should make full recovery but gonna take a couple of weeks for it to heal properly and until nerves recover I'm going to have constant pins and needles which could take 4-6 weeks.

Getting good at one handed typing!!! So I'm still here but for a few days my posts going to be limited!

Ouch! Wishing you a speedy recovery smile.gif

from PA here....

We're neighbors! I'm from NJ.
Does anyone know whether you can send additional information in after NOA1. I didn't think we could, however on RFE masterlist someone a few months ago recommended to try it. Not sure what happened.
In my case my lawyer sent just the identification page of my passport and copy of my birth certificate. This was after I told him to use the passport-which I had copied every page and in front of him put my name on each page. He at the time I saw him told me that u need front and back of birth certificate. The front page of my birth certificate is complete, but the back was blank. ANyhow, I just copied the front of the bc and the passport in entirety-both of which I gave to him. I was soo ticked when I found out what he did, but my fiance wouldn't let me fire him. BG wants to keep the lawyer as he has lots of experience for the AOS portion.
When I asked the lawyer about the above and what's stipulated in the instructions, he told me that the birth certificate should be ok. ranting33va.gif I doubt it. BG and I are pretty much expecting a possible RFE. At the time we didn't think k1 would take this long and decided to wait until we got it. Now I'm wondering since it's taking too long whether I should submit the correct documents. Or should I not bother cuz VSC might have to go through the trouble of brooming the dust around the applications and might misplace the additional papers.

The back of Jesse's birth certificate was blank too. I told him to copy it anyway but he said it just looked like a blank piece of paper (no outline showed up from scanning) so, it probably makes no difference whether you send it or not.
I didn't copy every page of my passport, just the one's that were relevant to the process. I can't see how they can verify the pages actually belong to the same passport without looking at the real thing. I figured that the boarding passes and financial proof of visiting were probably better evidence of being there and of course I had the relevant page of the passport copied to back that up.
I think it depends on who is approving the petition (in straight-forward cases) as to whether they RFE you or not. So, don't worry smile.gif

Haha!! I know - but isn't a part of you scared!? I think I want it now then I suddenly realise that while I am in this visa process bubble the wedding and move seem a lot further off - take away the visa process and suddenly you have two massive life changes in one foul swoop!!! I still think I am in a daze about it all biggrin.gif I can't believe I am actually doing it - this is the sort of thing you always see other people doing!

You are so right. I am often so engrossed in missing him, worrying about NOA1's, reading the tragic stories on here and worrying over the slim possibility of a visa denial that I forget about what will actually happen at some point next year. Then suddenly it hits me that my life is about to change considerably. That both excites me and scares me.
I think the scary part will subside though once the process is complete and you've gone through immigration with your K1 in hand. I'm sure it will take a while to adjust into everyday life once married but the best part is that you'll finally be permanently with the person you want to spend the rest of your life with.
Not many people face as much anxiety and work as hard for a relationship as us immigrants tongue.gif

Dear July filer service center representative,

I am writing to make you aware of the incompetance of your organisation. Your processing times are ridiculous for what one can only assume is a fairly simple task of reading and ticking check boxes, sometime that is a staple of primary education. May I make the suggestion that you should expand your staffing afterall you are recieving extra funds. Technically speaking as you are actually a private profit making company and not an offical government office you are breaching international competition laws by holding a monopoly on the issue of processing such requests. As far as customer satisfaction goes, you will certainly not be recieving a tip.

hahahaha.....if only!!!!!

If you are being processed through CSC please don´t be upset because your projected adjudication date is moving in the wrong direction. The truth is that there has been very good news for CSC filers recently!

The VJ projected adjudication date appears to be at least partially based on the average processing days of recent approvals. CSC has been cranking out the approvals recently and the average processing time has increased because the members being approved have been waiting since May. However, the important thing to realize is that as your projected adjudication date becomes later the number of people in front of you is decreasing. For every CSC approval, you are moving closer to your approval even though your projected date is moving farther away.

Perhaps that seems illogical wacko.gif , but it is true. And if CSC maintains their pace of the last 7 days, the average processing time will eventually decrease and you will see your projected adjudication date move closer again. smile.gif

Jess and I are convinced this week will be our week...now we're only talking NOA1 here, but it's coming. We're sure of it.
I figure that they must be almost near clearing the pile of August petitions they must have had to put to one side because September filers have been getting their receipts.
If that's the case, then I am sure the NOA2's for June and July filers will start flying out. smile.gif

To be honest, I dare not plan anything further than that until NOA2 because I feel it would put further pressure on us during the process. VJ tracks by both by date sent ( which in my opinion is meaningless), and by receipt date ( this is receipt date on Noa-1), but many people here are tracking either by the date they received the hard copy ( meaningless) and the date sent ( meaningless).

Just some perspective from the 'other side'. All of these dates are not meaningless. I will give examples.

I mailed my application in on the July 24th, this date is important because it determines what fees I pay.

It was received on the 27th, I sent it to TSC. This is important because when I was freaking out about not having a NOA1 or my check cashed, until I found 3 others on this very forum in almost the exact same situation! Guess what they had not received NOA1s either... no more freaking out for me...

I tend to use this site as a weather balloon of sorts, so many people going threw this shared experience as me, with dates before, and after. I watch what steps they are going threw and what there experiences are, then I am prepared for what is coming next!

My opinion is this site need not be cut up into such strict groupings, and it appears this is not the intent either!

Just food for thought, and maybe you can see things a bit better from this 'July' filers perspective hehe wink.gif

Me also! Lately, I've been reading some threads and having to focus on why I'm here. Because, apparently I'm supposed to be relaxing and not worrying about such things as an NOA1 or having my check cashed (according to some anyway), but you hit the nail on the head...it's a gauge if anything, a measure of how we're all doing in the system. I wonder why there is such an attitude of seperation. I know here on this thread, at least, people are on some common ground regardless of where they're at in the system.

It's a division of Carphone Warehouse. You pay a set fee per month for a complete phone package and get international calls inclusive. I'm not selling their service though. Customer Service leaves a lot to be desired in my opinion.

Thank you - I looked on the internet about it and am not too thrilled with it. I think that we'll stick to our Skype. That seems to be working out very well for us - AND hopefully and with a lot of luck, we won't be doing this for much longer. That is my wish for everyone on their Visa Journey!

I'm not worried about forgetting what my OH looks like - I just get so fed up talking online all the time that sometimes it is nicer to just go off and do my own thing... maybe we just spend too much time online together - he worked early this weekend so I didn't see him so much and it was nice having a bit of breathing space smile.gif

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one that feels that way sometimes. Sometimes I just dread getting on the dang computer and talking on the phone, I'd almost rather go do something else. Of course I work on computers all day for a living so that might something to do with it. Sometimes my eyes are just so darn tired I can't even bring myself to turn the computer on.

Reassuring I'm not the only one as well!! I can't wait until we can be together properly and actually do things instead of feel like we are wasting away passing time waiting for when we can actually live our lives!!

We peak and trough - we have our website, we like playing online games, we watch tv shows together and things smile.gif But sometimes I get excited about seeing him then it's just such an anticlimax because t is more of the same over and over!!

I guess we'll all get there in the end - I just wish things weren't so restricting in the meantime!! I love the internet and computers but living my life in front of one wasn't what I had in mind wink.gif (well not life but you know what I mean)

Plus I need new glasses now cause I get headaches tongue.gif

I find it hard to remember sometimes how fulfilling it was just talking to one another on the internet. Once you meet, then it's simply not the same. I find myself getting frustrated a lot with chatting on yahoo. We used to spend hours chatting happily online. Now we prefer the phone (I have talk talk too so the cost is not an issue) but it will never be quite right until we're actually together again.

It's all getting closer for all of us though smile.gif That thought (when i remind myself) keeps me sane.

I am sure you're right about the USCIS website. Do you know whether these VJ members have had checks cashed at all? I'm ignoring the NOA1 issue completely now as I've read that many people never receive theirs. I figure the check is the biggest indicator that my application is filed on the system finally.

I'm trying not to get too down about this since you mentioned the received date on the NOA1 being the effective queue date. At least that means that I'm only a couple of weeks behind where I thought we would be. But, what concerns me most is that the petition is 'lost' and that we will have to resubmit the petition. When should we make the decision to resubmit? We are already 7 weeks down the line from where we thought we were. I know if I phone for progress it will be a waste of time...if the check isn't cashed then it's unlikely anyone has touched the application at all.

Maybe I should be reading the August filers thread to get a gauge on how things are doing. I am reluctant to give up my July filer status tongue.gif especially since you made me so welcome here smile.gif

Since a lot of people get their case # off of their cancelled check and then get their NOA1 date on the USCIS website, I am assuming that no one else has a cancelled check either.

The August forum does not look very active or organized. Why don't you do some timeline searches and monitor it that way? It is a quick way to extract the information you want. I can help you if you need some guidance on how to search the timelines.

I think you need to temporarily stop thinking of yourself as a July filer and think of yourself as a mid August filer until you get your NOA1. As a mid August filer you have lots of company. Even looking at the larger group of those who sent their petitions 8/1 - 8/15, 10 of 19 are still without NOA1. Hard to believe but true.

You surely do not want to send a new petition now when so many others are in the same boat. I think it is extremely unlikely that your petition is lost.

I've changed my timeline to reflect my application receipt (i.e. 15th August) and there's a window of applications received at CSC between the 10th and 24th of August, none of whom have received NOA1's. Unless this is due to members not updating then it looks likely that there IS a box of petitions sitting waiting for processing at CSC.

Thanks for advising using the search timeline thing. I had no idea I could do that smile.gif I should really keep watching those August forums.

I think we agreed to use the dates on the NOA1 hard copies but then again... who knows - it isn't regulated so wink.gif

In that case I'm not a July filer. Not even a September filer at this stage sad.gif

No NOA-1 yet ?

No news at all. We keep checking the bank to see if the check has been presented, but nothing as yet. I looked on the USCIS website update for CSC and it said they had dealt with all forms delivered before the 28th August so I am a little concerned (understated). I figure a phone call is going to do little at this stage with the problems the service centers are facing.

If it is any comfort, there are 9 VJ members who sent petitions to CSC between 8/8 & 8/14 inclusive. One could assume that their petitions arrived in CSC at roughly the same time as your's or a few days before. Only one of them has reported receiving their NOA1.

I am thinking the USCIS website is not telling the whole story.

I hadn't thought about it until now, but the spreadsheet for July filers (which is brilliant, by the way) includes some 30th and 31st July applicants. I have no idea whether these are receipt dates and therefore whether they are old fee or new fee applicants.

Don't worry about it... I'm resigned to the fact that we are going to be the last July Filer approval. I guess sarcasm doesn't come across well in writing (or maybe I'm just no good at it).

I wasn't sure whether it was sarcasm or that I had genuinely upset you, and it was the latter I was concerned about. I know where you are coming from, I kept seeing friends being approved throughout December and then the slowdown in January and getting past 180 days was really unbearable. It is hard waiting and fighting the feeling that you will be the last in your bunch or that some other delay might happen.

I feel very fortunate that we got our approval last week but I haven't forgotten what it is like to feel...well, forgotten. One thing that kept me going last week was the knowledge that CSC had quoted July 18th as their marker for approving I-129F's. I knew at that point that something would come soon. Please keep the faith. I am certain you will get your approval any day now.

Okey dokey. Thanks for the tip! It just occurred to me that you won't have put together your I-134 stuff yet. I just don't want to be too 'soon' with it really - no good it holding up things at interview. I'm planning to be over there as soon as humanly possible biggrin.gif

We're hoping to snag a bargain on the property front too when I move out there, but Jesse is worried because he's going to be a student for a couple more years. I still think it's worth taking advantage of the property market as it stands currently. We might just end up staying with his mom until we get really settled financially - and that is no hardship at all. She is wonderful and a great cook! biggrin.gif

Which reminds me. As soon as she heard about our approval she started getting paperwork together for the I-134 but I am concerned she's being a bit previous (although I love her excitement). I have a few questions on this for those in the know;
  1. Where (other than USCIS since the nearest office to Bakersfield is Fresno) is free/cheap best to get the forms notarised?
  2. Should she hold off getting the letter from her employer and notarising the I-134 until we get an interview date?
  3. If she is earning well above the poverty guidelines am I right in thinking details of assets/savings are not required?
That's it for now but I may have more later biggrin.gif

Well I only ever intended to be helpful. My NOA2 is very new and many July filers are well past the stage we're at. I apologise if pointing the finger at the latest July approvals was upsetting for you but my intention was definitely to spread the message to all remaining July filers that there is a board (set up for August and September filers) where we can find the help we need (without scrolling back through weeks of posts). I certainly hope you will be joining us there soon.

I've attached instructions that were posted on VJ as well by rouguewave to help you try and track your case from NVC to embassy smile.gif

Start trying to get the evidence for your I-134 now as from what I can see - other than the forms (which you can fill in online) this is the most time-consuming thing smile.gif

Thanky muchly. I'll get on to that asap smile.gif

Thanks for the reply Arrta, I had been looking through NVC and K1 forums but I guess you're right, it would depend a lot on the UK procedures. Thanks a lot for your help. I will check through the UK forum after I've waited for Aly to tell me which thread exactly biggrin.gif

Since most of the July bunch are seasoned K1ers now I wondered if you could point me in the direction of decent info on what to do next. I've read the flowchart on the guides here and had a quick look around for threads but I'm lazy not sure which forum is best for this stuff.

Thanks! biggrin.gif

Totally! I am sure I would have been chewing his ear off the whole time without this place - and that has to put a strain on your relationship.

He did say tongue in cheek: 'I'm so relieved because now you will shut up about it and we can talk about something else" tongue.gif

Oh Babblesgirl - I just read through the posts because I was soooo busy at work today. I can't believe it!!!! Such awesome fantastic news! I am crying now for you - happy tears of course.

As I read through this post tonight about everyone's day, I was just so please to know that I have known all of you. Because of this process, there will be new people in our lives forever!

Thanks Audrey! You are absolutely right, when things are good or bad we all feel empathy for each other. I'm so glad I found VJ, I have no idea how people cope without knowing others going through the same thing. It's difficult for those outside the process to truly understand the frustration involved.

I really genuinely hope yours is on its way too...and I will be here to cry with joy with you when it happens!

Hi, We filed on 6/26/07 and still no noa2!.. Are there many more out there who have still wacko.gif not received their approval?.. helpsmilie.gif

134 CSC K1 NOA1's were issued for petitions sent in June. So far, 113 of them have reported receiving their NOA2.
193 CSC K1 NOA1's were issued for petitions sent in July. So far, 153 of them have reported receiving their NOA2.

Are those all active? Or is there any way for us to know if they're still active short of looking for each one individually lol. I guess it's good to know we're not the ONLY people still waiting.

Someone estimated once (can't remember where I read it) that roughly 10% of VJers fail to update their timeline. I hope yours and Audrey's are on their way soon - as well as all others waiting.
