So, I was hoping I might get through at least one part of the process without having to wait an extended period. Called NVC and no trace of my petition. It's only a week though. Anyone fancy some cheese with my whine? biggrin.gif

Don't fret. We were approved on January 25. They never had our case number in their system, but I just got the letter in the mail dated February 1. You should see yours within the next week.

Oh good. Thanks for the reassuring info. I really want the next bit to go super quickly.

Well, today I've called NVC again (as I do everyday) and they told me that it looks like my case has finished processing and waiting to be shipped. What the hell does that mean? Why don't they just ship it? unsure.gif

It's like a fine wine. You can't just ship a petition out once it's been approved. You have to let it breathe a little. Only then is it ready to be shipped. biggrin.gif

So, we are back to the subject of whine then? smile.gif
I'll ask again: got some good old stinky cheese to go with that?

I will whine now about how disgusting gorgonzola is.

Hey Igor,

I thought I would join the crowd. July filers welcome I take it? I could use the help. Not sure exactly how NVC stage works. Also I moved house since filing so is this the stage at which I can register my new address or do I have to contact the embassy in London for that? USCIS doesn't allow the beneficiary to register a change of address.

Thanks,
Tracy

yeah of course but its really hard thinking should I save the money for our future or should i buy the flight. We trying to save up so when we are together we have a good start. So if anyone knows of any good deals USA TO UK.. let me know..

thanks!

You did your timeline! smile.gif Shows an adjudication date of February 2008 - they are usually a pretty good indication. Be warned that the date will shift too - in either direction dependent on new data. So, it might be sooner or later than that. The September 2008 filer thread should give you good information on what's happening with applications filed around the same time and they are a great resource for support. The K1 filer thread I belonged to still exists and we still support one another even though we are now at different stages in the process.

It's also really easy to say this in retrospect, but saving up for the future rather than buying flights in the interim is a really great idea - AOS takes time and you will need money to keep you going in the first few months of married life. Having said that, I didn't follow my own advice and visited the US for two 4-6 week trips during my K1 wait which did make it so much easier.

There is a lot of preparation to do during the wait. Keep yourself busy by staying on top of the process and making plans for your future. Adjustment can be hard and it helps a lot if both the USC and the beneficiary are aware of the changes both of you will go through once you are together permanently.
Good luck!

Anyway, do you think if the beneficiary has kids it adds a bit of time and/or complications? Anyone else here in the same boat? I mean, unless the kids have been leading secret double lives they will clear any name checks ... but I was just curious!!!!

R

I don't think it causes any issues. As I said before, the box containing your petition is probably being processed as we speak so all depends where within that box your petition lies. You and your SO shouldn't have any problems being approved, it's just a matter of time. Hang in there and stay positive. You've been plenty positive over the last few months for the rest of us. It's coming! smile.gif

Oh, on a side note, I just recently discovered your numbers thread and have to say it's a stroke of genius. I am now hooked on it. I bet ewok hates it (file space and all that) but it's turning out to be an interesting historical record of time. Love it!

Any feedback is most welcome from members who have had this kind of information from the CSC!!!

It means that the box your petition is sitting in is now on a case officer's desk rather than a shelf. Looks like good news Eli! I don't know how long it takes to process a box of petitions but I'd say you should hear something soon smile.gif

I guess the point is that we all pay the same fee, regardless of whether we live on the East Coast, Midwest, or West Coast, yet our processing times are drastically different and dependant on the state where we live. I'm not asking for a visa for my SO to enter Illinois, I'm asking for a visa for her to enter the US. Yet the time I have to wait depends on my state. If the backlog is untenable at the CSC, then files should be sent to VSC until such time as the adjudication equalizes and everyone gets the same deal. Sorry VSC filers, but the disparity is getting rediculous and is absolutely unfair.

Totally agree with this. This is what is fundamentally unfair about this process. When people ask whether the I-129F can be expedited I feel like saying 'yeah move to a state where you can file at VSC'. Having said this, VSC were pretty tardy with July filers too, in fact they were worse than CSC because they apparently ignored a number of July petitions and forged ahead with October petitions. At least at CSC they usually approve petitions submitted within 4-6 weeks of one another. Not much comfort I know. Good luck though, it's very hard waiting.

Well, how very kind, si man. It is harder to catch her by phone than one imagines, and if I leave voice-mail, there'd be no guarantee that she would call back, and if she's stressed, the conversation would not be productive, either in itself or long-term, I don't think. And, you're right -- March 12 around midnight when the plane lands -- or sooner, should she desire cancellation -- will tell the tale, si man.

If she dumps me, I will ask for the engagement ring and the advance-purchase wedding ring back, but I will continue to love her.

I sincerely hope there is a happy outcome for you TB. I wrote a really long reply yesterday to one of your posts and it got eaten by the internets! It involved various points of commentary, points A to (iv). The main point I wanted to make though was to suggest, if you have not done so already, you take an active interest in her career. Rather than seeing it as a mistake you made, embrace the idea of her taking your advice. If she's unwilling to talk, for whatever reason, it may encourage her to be more open if you took the focus off the visa and placed it on her future career plans. How does she see things progressing if she moves to the US etc. ?

Just an idea.

I'm sorry for interfering here. This is only my opinion so apologies to StP if I'm stepping out of line.

StP very generously put together her list to take the weight off bszoom's shoulders when he quite rightly became otherwise occupied with his SO's arrival in the US. I think it's only fair that after months of providing such a valuable service, which she has to generate manually, we give her a break so she can concentrate on her upcoming interview and moving plans.

Igor kindly put together a list for CSC filers awaiting NOA2 here >>> http://cse.ssl.berke...du/igor/vjdata/ .

Whilst Igor too has put a huge amount of work into it, the list is generated automatically and therefore is much lower maintenance and you can check for updates automatically.

The only reason that the two lists generated differing order was due to the delays in receipting at USCIS which caused some confusion here on VJ on which date to enter in the NOA1 field. I am sure that factor is pretty much ironed out by now and therefore there is no real point in two people generating lists - unless of course they really want to.

I wish you luck in receiving your NOA2.
bakofoilFemaleEngland2008-02-17 16:37:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWaiting for a NOA2 from CSC for your I-129F?
Agreed CBR. I was looking at the list and comparing with timelines for exactly that reason. I also noticed that a small number of people have duplicate accounts because both the beneficiary and petitioner have taken an interest in VJ and only one of them has been active in updating the timeline.

I think you have to factor in when looking at these lists that maybe 10% of VJers are not active enough users to update. The lists, as you say, are very useful nonetheless.

I do hope you get a resolution soon. I often think about you and check back to see if you have been approved. When you do...there will be an unprecedented amount of congratulations. smile.gif

I have a sincere apology to make. I have thought long and hard about how rude I have been about StP's lists. After all, lets not forget that she takes the time to create this list as a service to others still awaiting NOA2 despite the fact that she has long since received hers. It was incredibly insensitive of me to criticise the list and for that I am truly sorry.

I like the list. I do. It's a good list....

Once you are out of this time frame, rest assured that you will be within the 8-month time frame, and if you are not within the 10-month time frame two months after that, you can file with our ombudsman so that you will not receive a response, but perhaps a form letter, 45 days after that, not counting the 13-year extension.
