IndiaVisa for Baby

Thanks...

I can only apply for tourist Visa not for OCI or PIO card for my baby?

Can I go to Indian Consulate Chicago and get the Visa same day?

You can apply OCI or PIO but my response was to your original question. Same day Visa is for extremely Emergencies and you have to prove that but even you succeed to get the visa it won't be for a long period of time. Embassy/Consulate does not issue Visas directly and they do use third party  you have to go thru. You will get all the answers once you hit the Consulate Web Site. Thanks!

IndiaVisa for Baby

Tourist Visa works with the purpose to visit family. I always got 10 years visa for my kids with little more money and never had to be panic if had to go in urgency. Kids passports are valid for 5 years but you can travel with new passport and visa on old passport together. If you want you can transfer visa from old passport to new passport but not required. Have safe journey !!!!!!!!!!!!

IndiaImportant info about Police Clearance Certificate

Yes - you should get it from the office where the passport issued with your address in it. Don't even open the Can of worms for different address because they will be asking to do the address change.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Mandatory Administrative Process New Delhi Consulate
I have two cases of IV at New Delhi Embassy which are in AP for long enough to believe this process is enforced by the Pharmaceutical Industry so the people can get stressed and get on the drugs. I applied for my brother and sister in the year of 2000. Both cases were processed at same time frame around October 2010. My sister was interviewed in january 2011 and she was given 221g (asking to submit more proofs and her medical which was not cleared at the time of interview). She was genuinely sick (Now she got decease called SLE which is chronic not contageous) and I submitted hospital records and doctor contacts. She finally cleared her Medical and with the help of Senator I successfully reopened her case and the Embassy reinterviewed in December 2012 and again she was given 221g to provide more evidence of relationship. She submitted my trips to India detail, our common photos and my phone bills. My sister received passports and a letter stating Mandatory Administrative Process. Interesting part the way it sounded that they want to establish a valid relationship but the Embassy personal start calling the people of my Phone Bill asking who am I or my sister. They called about seven people out of which four could provide personal information and others even could not recognize my sisters name or did not know her kids. My sister and brother-in-law are so frustrated with this process saying 'what were they doing for last 12 years?'

During that time as we all know NVC pushed back Visa Application due to non availality of visa numbers in 2010 and my brother was one of them. My brother and sister's case was processed same time but my brother's case got stuck with NVC. My brother and my sister-in-law were interviewed in September 2012 and they were also given 221g. My sister-in-law had to go thru a lenghy TB test which took about 90 days which she cleared. We requested to process my brother's visa application first because I was going thru medical trauma but they did not. Finally they submitted the required documents in January 2013 which completed the formalities but now they put the case in 'Manadatory Administrative Process' which I strongly believe is a abuse of power. I can call this a genuine process but why there are no time limits or they can address the issue so that can be resolved? This is a process to make people sick and not to mention this does affect the health of US Citizens which is not right. After reading other people's experience and situation especially newly weds, this is not fare. Thanks.

Waivers (I-601 and I-212) and Administrative Processes (221g)Case in AP from 14 months but now different email from embassy

As we experienced and learned from this forum that once your case is in AP, we should not bother Embassy too much. Files get lined up when we submit documents but if we enquire again and again they get behind every time when they put back in line. It is hard to be patient after that long of the wait but good thing in your case is they asked for New Medical which is I believe they are ready to issue you the visa so please be patience. E-mails don't help when the case is in AP and in this situation patience helps unless a Congressman/Senator makes the enquiry for you. Good luck!

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresK-3 Visa is it still an active or an obsolete visa?

K-3 visa is useless and make you even more struggle in the process. With K-3 which takes about same amount of time as CR-1/IR-1 and it is Non Immigrant and you can not work with it. After getting K-3 visa then you have to apply for AOS, while you are waiting for the interview if you need to work then you have to apply for EAD. After getting EAD then you apply for SS which is conditional. You again go for AOS interview and after getting GC then go to the SS office to apply again. This all we experienced in 2008 and not sure if they improved the process but so far people are not encouraged to go after K-3.  She arrived here in US March 2008 and was able to legally work in August 2008 then her interview was in November 2008. My two cents!!!!!!

USCIS Service CentersHow many days it takes the case to get transfered from local office to NVC?

Hi everyone.
We got approved 11 days ago and got our noa2 within few days in mail. How much more time will it take for case to get transfered from uscis to NVC? My fiance called NVC they say they dont have the case yet. For how long we must wait for the case to reach NVC and the from there to my home country? Wanna be together asap.

I got approved on July 2nd and the NVC received it on the 29th, processed and sent on the 31st. They're backed up so normal forward times aren't applying. Don't be nervous! :)

Europe & Eurasia (except the UK and Russia)Which forms needed after NOA2 for Denmark?

Thanks for the info, I have Klaus working on getting these things together. Which forms did you have to fill out after NOA2? I want to try and help him fill them out.

Hi, Kasper and I are running into the same problem. Kasper never had to do military service since he drew the right numbers in the lottery. What did you provide to prove this? I'm curious because we're exactly at that step now :)

Well, you will have to either find them or meet with the embassy assigned doctor at the mandatory appointment to discuss which shots you will need to makeup for not having records.

Hi guys. I was just wondering about the interview that will be at the embassy in stockholm for k1 visa. Will the embassy give an interview date or do i have to make an appointment online myself?

Hi!

We just applied for our K1 visa :) I wasn't sure but are the K1 interviews only in Stockholm instead of Copenhagen? I remember calling the embassy in Copenhagen a while ago and they said all residency visas are handled out of Stockholm. Do we really have to go all the way up there?! :)

Ps-Ryanair flys from Hamburg to Stockholm super cheap (If you come from Jylland its easy)

Thanks!! :)

Africa: Sub-SaharanCost of police report in Nigeria(lagos)

Main Lagos police headquarters, I think they just saw money coming. he is well known, and is used to dealing with politicians and kings, has a dignified aire about him, dresses well... not good when trying to pay just the stated price, when he tried to pay 5K they screamed at him. he did say it was for the visa,

advice for police report:: dress in natives, don't mention a visa of any sort, ( they won't accept the visa letter from packet 3, and may not give you the report at all if they know) give something like "job interview" for the reason, and beg poverty, my Fiance, (the wondrful negotiator he is), had to pay N12,000! see if I ever let HIM negotiate again LOL

the Chairman of SafeLand Hotel in Ojokoro area is very accomidating. the hotel charged us N5,600 a day (about $30) and he made sure everything worked. it isn't a fancy hotel, but it has fans and AC, a pool, and the people there are nice and they made sure i always had electricity and AC, at all times. he even went out and bought a "soft" matress and a plasma tv for our room. (room 505)

Africa: Sub-SaharanAfter the "more evidence required" embassy result

Having been married before to someone who seemed to have used you is a red flag and could be the problem.
Another problem could be that you have not visited enough, Lagos likes face to face time and lots of visits.
You had more than enough communication evidence and not enough visits is my guess and yes, they want to make absolutely sure you won't
be used again and are sure of your relationship.
It was good that you came along for the interview and I understand you can't attend the interview itself but why did you not
rattle their cages and inquired from the 'other side' of the embassy where you could have entered and asked to speak to the chief consul ?

You need to get a congressman a.s.a.p to get the diplomatic pouch number of the returned petition so it can be more easily tracked
when you make calls to ask questions down the road to USCIS.
A senator/congressman needs to inquire on your behalf and push for a second interview with 'more' evidence since that is what they requested.
Have him inquire exactly what kind of evidence they want to see since you presented stacks of proof already that wasn't looked at.

More than likely this will be a long shot and not bring desired results but it's worth a try. Since their wording is so off the normal return
process in the letter, explain to your congressman/senator exactly how to do the inquiry since the aid will not be enlightened

enough to catch that himself nor know which specific questions to ask.

Questions to ask are :

1. Why was presented evidence not looked at but a request letter for evidence given ? Contradiction !
2. Requesting a second interview, beneficiary has requested evidence of bona fide relationship (bring the kitchen sink).
3. NVC does not re approve a returned petition, USCIS does. CSC will not review so why the mentioning of NVC re approval ? Nonsense.

The above issues need to be pointed out like a laser beam by your representative. Their explanation is hog wash.( I read your review)

4. Diplomatic pouch number if case has been returned already.

The way they wrote up the return process is nuts.

Again....
NVC is only a short stop for the return to USCIS where it will be expired and dead after 6 months by your service center CSC.
NVC will not re approve a returned petition, they only route it to USCIS.

USCIS is the only agency that can DENY or EXPIRE your petition. The embassy can not deny, that is why they did not say they denied it.
Technically the embassy can only REFUSE to issue the visa.
You have to deal with USCIC which is fruitless, CSC does not reaffirm petitions for a K1.

I would make plans to marry in Nigeria and file a CR1.  That is pretty much your only option, besides the long shot through a

congressman like yesterday if it's not too late already. If it already left the post then it's dead.

I didn't know that was possible! I wanted SOOOO much to STOMP in there, and rattle a LOT of cages! but my Husband (Fiance) always the calm cool collected guy, hugged and petted and shuushed me till i calmed down, he's getting very good at calming my Irish temper. he said i'd only get in trouble, but neither of us knew it was possible to go arround anywhere to get in,

I know NOW, and next time I will go there when he's inside and make myself SEEN and HEARD so they know i'm there for my husband! I just pray the next person who reads this kknows to do what i didn't konw!

Thank you so much for your insight, I am planning my trip back as soon as Humanly possible.

I'll let everyone know when i'm going back just in case there are VJ members there to attend it! :)

Africa: Sub-SaharanAfter the "more evidence required" embassy result

our Interview was 19 March 2014

I didn't think anything would go wrong, how could it? nothing about us matched the scam profile, we are in our 40's! we have a long relationship, piles and piles of evidence,

I guess they had an issue with the fact that i'd been married before,

to a Nigerian

that I had to remove support from.

well, I can't blame them i guess. they deal with scams so much they are likely to make a lot of mistakes.

Well this one was costly. it is so expensive doing this, but what choice do I have?

I'd go live in Lagos if I could, in fact I wish I could, but my two boys here would NOT understand, I'd bring them along but their Dad would NOT understand...so my only choice is to bring Ayo here, so I have to keep fighting.

I got hold of the NVC today to see if the file had arrived back from the Embassy yet, it haddn't.

the lady wouldn't even give me a general guess for a time frame :-(

but she did say that they will follow the EMBASSY INSTRUCTIONS that they wrote on the file, and MOST TIMES they say to return the file to the USCIS for CLOSURE....... don't know if ours says that, but our advisor here at VJ said most of them do...

the NVC operator said to email the embassy to see when they mailed it or will mail it. so i'll bug them until they confirm it mailed then bug the NVC again.

our advisor here on VJ advised that i should have married him when i was still there, and I'm KICKING myself for not making my embassy report until I had gotten back here in the states! AAAUGH!!!!! I had both the TIME and MONEY when I was there this last time.

WELL, nothing for it but to go back!

because I have almost no hope at all that those instructions say anything different then "close the case"

But WHY did they give us a "more evidence required" letter if they want to just close the case?!?! why didn't they just say DENIED???

but i think DENIED would have been worse, then I'd have to tell the USCIS that we'd had a visa denied before, and as it is, now we don't, it wasn't denied, just returned, and may be closed, so

Step 1 save the money fastest possible to get my behind back to Lagos!

step 2 marry Ayo as I should have in March! ( or even to begin with!!)

step 3 apply for I-130 and let them deal with THAT!! I WILL bring my HUSBAND HOME!!!!

Africa: Sub-SaharanWhat will it be like in Lagos?

yes I have to add thanks to chacagorj for the wormroot, info, also Paw Paw seeds, (not papaya) Paw paw seeds look like almonds, eat three a day, and parasites don't stand a chance, they also have a malaria drink made from west african speargrass, that also works, but tasts horrible. but do take something, and I agree, the western meds have more side affects then benifits.  drink LOTS and LOTS of bottled watter, from a good more expensive company, and prepare for heat rash.

can not be stressed enough, DON"T DRINK THE WATER. or as she said above, don't even open your mouth in the shower.

I had Mom boil the water I used for bathing, as my fiance's family didn't have a shower yet, so it was a 50 gal drum that the laborers carted water up from the outside tank., but the cold water feels good when it's 90+ and 100% humidity.

take $1 bills and hard candy for the airport  hounds, don't let anyone help you take your bags, and the "authorities" will tell you you have to have a million papers and try to delay you, or pay "fines" just give them $1 and some hard candy and tell them to bug off! I can give you the number to my own Police officer, if you want further security, but discuss this with your man, Nigerians don't trust each other much, and he may not wish to, just trust his word.

and yea, cheap gifts for everyone, sandles, hard candy, blouses for the girls, "america" "t's" for the men... ?

I wouldn't be afraid to wander in your man's neighborhood if he says its safe enough with an escort, I'd walk all over to the market and internet cafe with my brother in law, or my Officer Tunde.the neighborhood kids would Mob me and all want to touch me and be held by me, I'm their cheif's American wife so kinda a celebrity in his neighborhood, they will want candy....

definately keep your money on your man's belt, keep Naira, on you, and keep the cards and passports at home,

I'm giong this Sunday, the 16th :-) I'm so happy! I concider Nija my second home.

make sure he takes you to the beach, and out somewhere pretty, don't let him keep you bottled up in the hotel.

Africa: Sub-SaharanThink carefully before you marry a Nigerian, I regret doing so!

It just goes to show that you need to know your fiance very well, and pay attention to the red flags that wack you in the head, and sometimes you then ignore. these need to be addressed right away, if your fiance is a good and  honest man/woman, Honestly in love and really yours, then they will understand your hesitation, your questions, your rants and emotional breakdowns.

My first Nigerian marriage didn't work out at all, because he had a habit of promising the world, and just hoping that God would make a puppet out of him and make all the words true, and that's not how it works. he gave me many red flags that i ignored, like "we'll get to know each other better when I get there"  and "whatever you wish hunny",  and " I'm not used to such questions hunny," "that singles site is for my friends to use,"  "I'm talking to her for my friends pretending to be them so they can meet her" and then the clincher " shut up and do as your told!". In my case, I made the decision after marriage, and before AOS that it was not going to work out, and convinced him to go to Egypt on his advanced parol for Ramadan and then removed my support via uscis, and that instantly denied his return, he spent a year begging me to take him back.

I have been FAR more careful with my present Fiance, he never keeps a darn thing from me, and refuses to flirt even when incouraged, We've had a 4 year relationship prior to my eventual application, and he never once pressured me, and in fact seriously considered me moving there, only thwarted by the lack of pay at any job.

so definately be careful, know him/her WELL, ask a billion questions, NO SECRETS. It's a shame that so many wonderful, loyal, handsome men have to deal with the bad decisions of a few. because Nigerians are raised to be loyal, and patient, and to view a marriage as permanent. My Ayo was made for me by God and although not perfect, (I'd be suspicious of that) we work out our differences with paitience.

I called on Nov 29th, and learned that they have received it and it is currently in processing.

the gentleman gave me my consolate case number, visa invoice ID #, and all three visa ID #'s ( Fiance and his two boys), but they would not give me a time to completion, nor have I received any paper from them!

It's been 16 days and your trend graff said 4 days aprox, I'm shaking with worry. why is it taking so long when they already have appointed a number to everything under the sun? why havent I received a notice that they've even received it??
