Please pray for me on my interview. Please pray for me and carl.

PhilippinesMy Documents checklist for the interview.... anything I was not able to include?
and i almost forgot, bring a photocopy of your payment slip to Metrobank for the document verification. type or write on that sheet your name, case number, passport number, name of petitioner, date of payment and date of interview.

and give it to window 37 or 38.

PhilippinesMy Documents checklist for the interview.... anything I was not able to include?
Great organization of docs! i'm sure you will pass the visa interview.

just some comments/reminders:

1. paste your pix to the ds forms.
2. make sure that each folder is half an inch thick only and it should be flexible.
3. don't forget to keep/make your Valid ID handy to enter the embassy's premises.
4. for the cover page of each folder, pls include your name as the beneficiary and the name of the petitioner.
5. make sure you have copies of the ALL the documents in your folder. and bring the original documents as well. just give them the photocopies of michelle's tax docs and make the original ones ready.
6. PRAY HARD!!! take a deep breathe and remove all your worries and fears before entering the room of the consul.

i'm sure you will really make it, kuya patrick!

go go go!!! yebah! hahaha...

God bless...

PhilippinesYour Favorite Mode of Transportation in The Philippines
great poll! but why you didn't include MRT/LRT here? i love taking trains here in manila. it's faster and more affordable although it's really crowded most of the times but it's the fastest transpo for me here in manila.

PhilippinesWho is still waiting for the visa from USEM for January
CALL the embassy almost everyday and track your progress guys. you should be hearing something good from them at this time.

gosh! im feeling sad for you guys coz you are waiting for a long time.. but don't worry. this document verification really sucks coz it takes 2-3 weeks plus another week for the release of the visa.

just hang on and everything will be ok soon..

God bless and let's all pray...

PhilippinesDenied today, worst day of my life
i heard from those getting a driver's license. you need to present a drug test result. and they fill out a waiver for the info of the result or a form something like that. so, if there's no form in the SLEC with that kind, no drug test is happening?

how do you guys know that there is no drug test during the medical exam?

PhilippinesANSWERED PRAYER - my interview experience, jan 8, 2008
Mabuhay! We (longwait2, pinktulips and james&rachel) stayed the night before in Riviera Mansion, 1 minute away from the US Embassy. Sis Rachel (who will have her interview on February) met us in the hotel and opted to stay with us since she was feeling excited for our interview and she wanted to make some chikka with us. We had a great dinner in my favorite barbeque restaurant in Malate.

We also had a rehearsal for the interview questions. It was like a Ms. Universe Pageant for us! Hahaha!!!

We planned to sleep early but it didn’t happen coz we had lots of chatting, girl talk – about our fiancés, love story and kinky stuffs. Around 12 midnight, we felt sleepy and started to sleep with a prayer in our hearts that God will lead our way for our BIG day tomorrow!

I woke up around 2.30AM – feeling so anxious, excited, MIXED EMOTIONS!!! All the girls were up by 3AM. Then, I called Chowking for our breakfast delivery. We had a wonderful breakfast before we proceed to the embassy.

Around 5AM, we prayed before we leave the hotel. Everybody was feeling goose bumps and I even cried a little coz in few minutes, the last part of the K1 journey will about to end.

------------------------------------------
We arrived in front of the US Embassy on Jan 8, 2008 around 5.15AM. We walked a bit from the non-immigrant visa line to the waiting area for the immigrant visa applicants. We sat down at the benches near the gate. We didn’t pay for the chairs for rent coz there’s one bench, which is enough for us. While waiting outside, all of us were texting and calling our loved ones to pray for us for our judgment day.

Around 5.45AM, one of the manangs who were selling some stuffs shouted that those with 7.30AM appointment can now fall in line. So, we hurried and almost ran. Hehe! We gave our mobile phones and other electronic gadgets to Rachel who waited for us the whole morning outside the embassy.

Flow of my interview proceedings:

1. Fall in-line outside the embassy. >> at this moment, prepare your appointment letter with a valid ID (NBI clearance is ok) to be presented in a while to the guard.

2. The guard checked my appointment letter and my ID. He checked if I’m the one on my ID photo.

3. Electronic scanner portion – all of your things are scanned here. So, if you brought with you any electronic gadget, you will be sent outside and fall in-line again. So better check your bag/s twice!

4. Just follow the line and you will be directed to the immigrant visa unit - right side portion of the building. Take a seat at the blue chairs and wait for the instruction of the embassy staff/guards.

5. I noticed that the family-based visa applicants were first called and directed to a window slot.

6. For us, K filers, the guard called us and we fell in line at the “Ticketing Window” where all of your DS forms (2 ds 156, 2 ds 157-1 on-line & 1 from the bank; 1 ds 156k) which is near the wash room and across the Delbros booth.

7. The lady gave me 7013 as my queuing number and I told that that is my lucky number coz that is my birthday, July 13/ 0713. And the lady smiled.

8. After few minutes, my NAME (not my priority number) was called for the finger scanning. When I was doing this, the embassy staff who was administering the finger scanning was holding a 2-inch thick folder. And I notice that that is our petition documents. Amazing!

9. I waited for 30-45 minutes for my number to be flashed on the board for the pre-interviewer session. I was called to Window 19. The gentleman there was nice. I greeted him good morning and he replied. After reading my name on his docs, he said that I have a nice name coz my last name is one of the angels mentioned in the bible (Cherubims). So I thanked him. Then, he asked if I’m from Lucena City and said yes. He told me that he once worked there. He even asked what is the famous food/dish in Lucena and if the old famous restaurant is still there. After those chats, he asked for my fiance’s name and his job. My fiancé is a cook so he said that I’ll become bigger when I get there! Hehehe!!! And how we were introduced. Then, he asked for Carl’s financial support docs. So I gave him my Folder 1 – financial support docs. Then, he asked for our photos so I gave as well the whole folder of our photos together. Then, he asked how many times did Carl visit me and the duration/date of his visit. Then, he asked for our correspondences so I gave him my Folder 4A which contains our cards, waybills, phone bills, money transfer receipts, cargo and courier receipts, etc plus our emails. Then, he returned to me my Folder 1 – financial support docs and told me to just give him the affidavit of support and Carl’s 2006 tax documents. So, I gave them to him. And he said to wait for my number to be called again. I thanked him and told him to please visit our province if he has time since it’s very different now.

10. Around 10.30 AM, the K1 queuing numbers were started flashing on the screen and we (girls) retouched our make ups and we’re so excited and nervous! Wahahahaha!!!

11. Around 10.45AM, my number flashed and I proceeded outside the Room 32 - the last room for the consular interview. I was praying while waiting – asking for the Holy Spirit to be with me.

12. When I entered the room, I smiled and greeted the Lady consul (who looks like Princess Diana) and she replied. Then, I waited for 10-15 seconds coz she was talking with a staff and typing something on her computer. Then, the ball started rolling! Below were questions to me:
a. How did you meet your fiancé? >> introduced to me by my aunt on the phone
b. What’s the name of your aunt? Is she in the US? Since when and how long?
c. Why did your aunt introduce your fiancé to you? I told her the story of our meeting on the phone and she was smiling while I was discussing it to her.
d. What’s the job of your fiancé?
e. What was he doing on the new year’s eve?
f. Do you have any other relatives aside from your aunt in the US?
g. You went abroad, right? >> yes
h. What did you do in these countries and how long did you stay?
i. Did you talk about if you will be working in the US when you get there? And what job?

At the last part of our conversation, she said that my documents were fine and they are just going to do some verification. Then, I replied to her “Thank you so much Ma’am. Have a nice day. God bless you”. And she replied, “you’re welcome and wait for your number to be called outside”.

All in all, my conversation with her was really enjoying and spontaneous. It was like talking to a friend who is interrogating me. . It was like talking to a friend who is interrogating me.

13. As I was waiting outside, all the girls were smiling. Meaning, all of us were APPROVED!!! Then, my name was called on Window 38. My number didn’t flash on the board so I was nervous. But we were almost 10 applicants that were called on that window and I saw our documents with the nice gentleman on that window. I was the first one to fall in line and then, he asked for my name and queuing number. Then, he told me that they need to do some document verification. So I told him that I already paid the P650 since I saw for their website. He was so surprised. Then, I showed him my receipt and the printed out instruction from Delbros which I downloaded from the USEM website. He looked at it and he gave it back to me. He gave a pink slip with my appointment letter and another document from them. I FELT RELIEVED!!! Then, he returned to me my folders.

14. Then, I paid to the Delbros the P165 courier fee.

Few minutes after this, I was crying softly coz my prayers are answered! THANK GOD and Praise Him! I also felt sadness for the idea that I will be leaving my family especially my mom, my friends and my country…soon.

----------------------------------
When we went outside, we were looking for Rachel who patiently and nervously waited for us the whole morning. I will never forget that moment when I saw her running, teary eyed and so happy to see us. There was also a funny moment that we didn’t know where to go out coz we were so excited to tell the good news to Rachel. Hehehe!!!

We met Rachel with our good news. Me and Rachel were crying coz we were so emotional for what happened. All of us were sooooooo happpppyyy and blessed on that day!!! PRAISE GOD!!!

When I was talking to my baby Carl, he told me that he didn’t go to work coz he was so excited, nervous and anxious for the result of my interview. My baby was so happy to know that I successfully passed my interview.

Then, we met Mike and Beth for lunch. The VJ family had a great lunch in Chowking! Hehehe!!!

~~~~~~~~~
To Mike and Beth, thanks for the tips. I’m so blessed to have you as my friends.
To Ate Cheng, Ate Kat and Sis Rachel, I enjoyed our time together. You will always be my sisters. I will cherish our bonding moments forever. God bless you and your fiancés/husbands and best wishes to the another chapter of your lives.
Our VJ Family, the word THANK YOU is not enough to express how I feel for being so blessed for knowing and being here in this forum. More power and I am always praying for the continuous success of this site. We love you, our VJ Family!
To my officemates, thanks for the support, understand, patience and prayers throughout this journey.
I LOVE YOU SOOOO MUCH!!! Thanks for our LOVE that is DEEP and LASTING!!! And I cannot wait to meet you soon… Forever is sooo sooonnn!!!
Most of all, to my Friend, Father, Companion, our Lord Jesus Christ… We offer our success to You!!! Thanks for softening the hearts of the pre-screener and most of all, the Lady Consul. Thank you sooo much for granting my petition! We love you, Jesus! Mama Mary, my mother, thank you and we love you. Thank you for embracing us with your love.
PhilippinesPOE Experience in LAX, CA
here's my POE experience in Los Angeles Airport, California last Feb 23:
1. i went to the wrong lane. i wasted more than 1 hour waiting for my turn to be called. i went to the first time immigrant section. haha. then, when it was my turn, the officer told me to go to the visitors lane. so, i just moved there. luckily, there was a very few people on the line.
2. the interviewing officer assigned to me was so nice. i guess, it was easier for me coz he was married to a filipina. we basically talked about adobo and other pinoy stuffs. God is really good!
so, the moral lesson here is FALL IN LINE AT THE VISITORS LANE and greet the officer and give him/her your best smile.
God bless everyone!
i suggest to pay the delbros P650 payment 3 weeks before your interview coz the immigrant visa unit told me that the document verification takes 2-3 weeks especially for late registered birth certificates.
guys, just a tip when texting delbros. put your name the way it was written in your packet. like for me, my name has Ma. but they dont have a "period" in their record so i didnt include that. then, my middle name has ñ and they dont have it in their record so i replaced that with a plain n.
hello my VJ family. well, first of all, i wanna thank Tim Y for this very informative and helpful post.
as for my interpretation on this issue, i think, the payment is to avoid the delay of the visa issuances that will give an additional (approximately) 2 weeks for the verification of the nso documents. if you want to avoid it, you can pay the P650 fee before the interview.
after i read this post, i called the immigrant visa unit at the us embassy here in manila and verified this information that i saw from their website. and the lady told me that i need to pay that P650 verification fee in order to avoid the delay for the visa issuances. and as far as i can remember, if you didnt pay this fee prior to your interview, you have to pay for this one after the visa interview. but i'm not pretty sure with this part.
what will i do now is to pay this fee soon and follow the instructions and bring the payment slip during my interview.. it's always better to be prepared than sorry.
thanks and God bless us all.
i feel bad for the people applying for their immigrant visas who are not aware of this information. i hope we can do something to help them....
maybe USEM can (i hope) contact those who already have upcoming interviews early enough to let them know about this issue. good luck to everybody.
well, as far as i can remember on the conversation with the immigrant visa unit, those who didn't pay in advance will have to pay during the interview and the verification will take 2 weeks. so, it's better to pay in advance to have an early verification so that you won't have a 2 week wait for your visa.
better to be well prepared than not. hehe
2. can we have his aunt as a co-sponsor who is already a senior citizen and lives with us with enough income?
PhilippinesForm I-485 Question, Part 3 Number 2
hi our vj family! miss you all!
i'm checking the documents for the AOS. and when i was practicing on answering the Form I-485, i was confused on answering whether YES or NO for Part 3 Question Number 2 which asks:
2. Have you received public assistance in the US from any source, including the US government or any state, country, city or municipality (other than emergency medical treatment) or are you likely to receive public assistance in the future?
last month, we went to a municipal health center for a free vaccine of Td shot which is not available in the Philippines. i also got anti-hepa and anti-flu shots. we took all these opportunities since those are all for free. but it does not mean that we are on a low income bracket, it's just, we took the chances since it was for free.
i'm confused now on whether to answer YES or NO on that question coz it might give a big impact to our application since it might give an impression that i might become a public charge in the future.
hoping for you replies, please.
thanks and more power everyone!
God bless!
PhilippinesAOS questions - for those who already filed
hello everyone! first of all, i really miss posting here in VJ! it's been a while since i posted. been really busy with all these stuffs for our church wedding preparation on april 19. wheeeewww!!
anyway, we are planning to file our AOS application together with the EAD application a week after our church wedding. so, i have below are the boggling questions on my mind about AOS filling:
1. On the Form I-485:
a. should i put my maiden name or my new married name on writing my family name on part 1 of the form?
b. on part 3, section b, on the A# question for my husband, do i need to put his driver's license number?
2. On Form I-864 (affidavit of support)
a. we are getting a co-sponsor, we'll be having my husband's cousin as a joint-sponsor, will it be possible even if she does not live with us and she is his first cousin?
b. as a joint sponsor, does his cousin needs to fill up another I-864 aside from the one that will be filled up my husband who is the principal sponsor?
c. if we will be having a joint-sponsor, how many form i-864A (contract between the sponsor and household member) do we need to submit? do we need a form i-864A for me and my husband? and then another one for his cousin and me?
d. do we need to notarize the form i-864?
hoping for your replies and comments. thank you so much!
God bless everyone!
PhilippinesParents' tourist visa interview experience...
QUOTE (honeybear @ Jan 28 2008, 12:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
QUOTE (mikeandlani @ Jan 25 2008, 06:36 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
...last tuesday (1.22.08), i brought my parents to the USEM for their tourist visa interview and with the Lord's help they successfully got their approval, with no fuss. My dad said the consul only asked them 5 questions and that was it. since i had my husband written down as their host in America and i signed their ds-156 as the person who prepared the form, the questioning went this way:
"CO : who is __________(hubby's name)?
P : our son in law
CO : how come it isnt your daughter who is sponsoring you?
P : she's still here with us in Manila
CO : why isnt she with her husband?
P : they're on the final stage of their spousal petition and is actually going in for her interview at the end of the month.
CO : how many children do you have?
P : 3. 1 girl and 2 boys
CO : and all are in the Philippines?
P : yes.
CO : ok. please give this slip to the delbros counter to arrange for your visa delivery.
P : thank you so much."
Yesterday (1.25.08) their passports arrived. they were given a multiple/10. WOOHOOO!!!!
hi mikeandlani!
Thanks for posting your parent's interview experience and like beng, my parents and 2 siblings are planning to attend my wedding in hawaii in june. We are planning to schedule their interview once we have a definite date on june so that we could also send my parents the invitation to serve as evidence of their purpose for their trip. They both still have work as government employees so im crossing my fingers that they get visas when they get interviewed.
oh yah, i really wish that they will be approved!
PhilippinesParents' tourist visa interview experience...
OMG!!! that was great! thanks for this post coz my mom will be scheduling her interview next week and she might get a slot on March. coz she want to attend our wedding. i'm her only child. she has a good job here that's why she will definitely come back. and she doesn't want to waste her retirement benefits just to stay in the US.
by the way, may i know the purpose of your parents' visit to the US? to attend your wedding? did you present a wedding invitation?
i really pray that my mom will pass her interview.
God bless you on your interview soon.
PhilippinesManila Embassy Interview/Visa Status
hi fellow pinay filers!
just wanna ask this boggling question in my mind.. during the interview with consular officer, are you going to give all your folders to him? or for example, he asks when was the last time you saw each other, are you going to give him the evidences of your meeting?
or the documents that pre-interviewer got from you will forward them to the CO and the CO will browse them during your interview?
hope to get a reply soon.
CONGRATULATIONS to those who already got their visa and enjoying their journey...
you're just going to answer whatever the question and hand what is asked, i remember this thing from PW that she said do not offer what is not asked, whether it's evidence or answer.
if he asks you when was the last time you saw each other, the answer is not your folder, but date when you last saw each other, if he said, and they would ask: do you have pictures together? that's when you show pictures, you have receipt of the engagement ring? you're just going to give what is asked.
THANKS A LOT PO!
PhilippinesFilipino PAGIBIG Fund Member planning to migrate
girls, i just called the Pag-Ibig Branch here in Makati. I talked to a nice kuya who sounds gay...hehe!
well, he told me that we cannot withdraw our contributions if we are under K Visas since our visa classification is still non-immigrant. however, after we received our greencard in the future, by that time, we can now withdraw our contribution to them.
now, in case that you will stop paying your contribution to them, your capital contribution will still earn dividends that will added to your account and will still be activate after several years and can still be withdrawn if you already have your green card or citizenship from other country.
so, we have nothing to worry about our funds with pag-ibig in the future. but the thing is, we cannot withdraw it before we leave for our shopping galore... hahaha!!!
hope this helps...
