So we recently discovered my wife needs a co-sponsor for me. Our only current option is her cousin. Thing is she(her cousin) is already sponsoring somebody else? Would she still be eligible to sponsor me?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresConfused...what next?
I'm a bit confused now. My wife is in the process of filling out her I-864 form. But whats next for us? I have paid both the AOS and IV bill. Once my wife has completed the sponsor form what do we do? We havent recieved our instruction packet yet but she has called the NVC for authrization. I am the beneficiary living abroad. From what I understood she only sends the I-864 to the NVC and I prepare my DS 230 and supporting documents for the interview at my local consulate?

Sooo,

I am the beneficiary, So up to date... We have received the AOS and IV Bill from the NVC and paid online and completed the DS 3032 choice of agent form and sent off! We still havent got authorization/instruction packet from the NVC yet to continue further. I know now that we can call and chase. Right now my wife (Petitioner) is working on our co-sponsor. Should take a week or so! My question is...what do we do next? please dont send links because I'm confussed as hell??
What needs to be mailed to the NVC exaclty?? From what I read on the guides page my wife needs to send the NVC the completed form I-864 and bill receipts with cover sheets. Is that it or am I wrong? Or must I send my DS 230 to the NVC as well? Totally lost and need calming down!! I feel like a sitting duck!! I have everything ready. even police records!!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCo-sponsor question!!
Ok I am the beneficiary. My wife has a child from a previous relationship. So that makes 3 in the household. For her to sponsor me she must of made $22,000 for the last year income tax return. She only made $16,000. Her Mother is willing to sponsor me but she only made $18,000. Would her mother be eligible to be a co-sponsor? Meaning with what they both earnt TOGETHER will that qualify? Or does her mother have to make over $22,000 too??

plus $355.00 for the I-130, and I am not sure what you will spend for printing stuff, copying stuff, sending stuff via mail, etc etc...

I think all we paid is $70 + $400 or so as fees to NVC.

How much was the AOS and IV fee's?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresrecent IR1/CR1 Filers

I was hoping to start a thread to find out how many people have filed their paperwork recently!
I feel a little disappointed to see that it could be as long as a year and a half before this comes to an end. At first we were under the impression that it would be less than a year (at one point he thought maybe around 8 months).
At least we have started and (hopefully) we will see an end to all this someday! :)
Congratulations to those who have started their journey!

Minus some mistakes my wife and I made. It took us 8 or 9 months in total to be done with the process (just got approved). It doesnt take a year. Research research and have any documents ready well in advance. Look further ahead in the stages and fill out copies of forms to be ready when the time comes. When it comes to things like getting copies of police records, have the infomation ready to be able to obtain copies fast. Make sure your passport is valid. Renewal takes time. All those little things. Oh and always use express post. The fastest way. When dealing with the NVC it payed off big time. I probabley saved a month in time! The CR-1 guide is good on here until you deal with the NVC. After that Google ''NVC shortcut''

Good luck.

Keep everything they said bring to the embassy and send back all other things they asked for. Each embassy must be different and you need someone who has been through the same process at your embassy to tell you exactly what they had to do. Its early yet so I am sure there will be many people on here later to help you.

When you send that make sure you have all documents they want. they replied to me immediately (packet 4)
This included -
Instructions for medical and date.
Bank slip for fee to be paid.
Appointment letter which stated-
Date of medical
Date of interview
List of documents which I should bring with me to interview-
bank payment slip stamped to show paid
passport

2 photos
birth certificate
marriage certificate
police certificate
evidence of support
medical results

I hope this helps. Not every embassy will be exactly the same for example methods of payments etc. but this should help as a guide.

hi

The K3 visa can only be processed in the country where the marriage took place. If the marriage took place in the U.S. then it will be processed in the beneficiery's (your husbands) country of citizenship.

good luck on your journey.

I was married in the USA I am a UK citizen but I live in Austria so I have to use the embassy in Vienna, Austria.

Look at UK forum, that should give you an idea how quick embassy is in London once your case has been approved, someone from Poland may be able to tell you how quick they are in Warsaw. Not sure if it would be allowed to use Warsaw if he is a resident of the UK but someone else may be able to tell you that.

Hi all,

Good news. We got approved for K3 & I-130 on April 20th (yay!) and I just received a package from the US embassy in Malaysia asking me to send in a bunch of stuff. One of the things they require is the police certificates. Since I turned 16, I have lived in the US (4 years - attended a university), and Japan (11 months - worked) and now I'm working in Vietnam (currently on the 6th month in Vietnam).

Please do drop by a line or two on how I should deal with the US, Japan & Vietnam government to get the police certificates.

Thanking all of you in advance!!!

You don't need one for USA you shouldn't need one for Japan because less than 12 months look at NVC website reciprocity tables you can enter all countries you need documents from and it will tell you how and where to get them from http://travel.state....ocity_3272.html

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMarrying while being in the US on b1/b2 visa
QUOTE (Kailey @ May 14 2009, 03:59 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi Everyone,

i have a story like most of you - we want to get married and want to make it fast and legal.
I have a question as I see a marriage variant that seems so obvious and simple to me but since i can't see many people using this approach i started to doubt if it is really as easy/legal as it seems:
what if i arrive with my b1/b2 visa (it's a multi entry visa type valid for 2 years. this visa is for tourism and business visits (non working visa though)) and we get married in the US? Will it be ok with the US authorities?

Neither my fiancee nor me want any violations or problems, we are lawful, i have a perfect visa history and definitely don't want any illegal immigration issues.
if any has any information or experience in getting married that way - please share.

one more question - if i get married during a visit with b1/b2 visa and then return home and then travel to the US again - will i be admitted on my b1/b2 visa?
does applying for K1/K3 visa automatically cancel my b1/b2?

Thank you in advance,
kailey

Yes you can come over and get married in the US this is not a problem if you return to your home country. If you come over with the intention of getting married and staying this is illegal.
You should still be able to come over with your B1/B2 visa while things are being processed as long as you can prove on entry strong ties to your home country and they accept you are indeed just visiting.

Also, I am about to be deployed to for 7 months in september this year crying.gif . She hasn't got the K1 visa yet this is given by the Embassy after interview.
Normally she would take I-134 to the Embassy interview with other documents requested.
The K1 is a visa to enter the USA to get married, if you get married before she enters on the K1 you will have to file a new petition for your wife

I signed the back of the instruction letter and sent that together with signed DS230 part 1 (Do not send it untill you have all your documents ready for the interview) I just received interview date today scheduled for Tuesday next week, I had to call them to postpone it, they said they dont normally get people asking for a later date, usually the other way around.
I didn't tell them that I had just sent all my documents to USA to be sent to NVC hopefully this will be sent on Friday and praying it will be quick.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionPolice Checks for former Au Pairs
QUOTE (SCFsnoopy @ May 5 2009, 04:51 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Was chatting about this with my dad today and he seems to think I wouldn't be able to get a police check for the 12 months I lived in Connecticut working as an au pair (nanny). I was wondering if anyone else was an au pair and could shed some light on this? I would assume that since I spent 12 months there, I'd need the police check, but my dad seems to think I wouldn't even be on file there so they wouldn't be able to do it for me.

I was hired through Cultural Care Au Pair, they organized everything from my visa (J-1) to my flights to placing me with a host family in the US.

If nobody here is too sure, I'll give the local police department in CT a call to see if it's possible for them to do a police check for me.

Present and former residents of the United States should NOT obtain any police certificates covering their residence in the U.S

QUOTE (rgburress @ May 26 2009, 08:40 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
OK so after doing a lot of reading on other posts and stuff on here I just had a few other questions. I read on one of the reply's to someone that if my fiance comes here with intent to marry me it is not illegal as long as we still plan on filing the proper paper work and she does not overstay her 180 days (for Canadian) is this true? can I bring her here, marry her, file the paperwork and if the process is not complete within 180 days just have her go back to Canada for a little bit until it is finished? Technically doing this would mean we had no intentions committing fraud because we plan to have her leave at the end of 180 days if process is not complete. I understand she would have to go back to Canada for the interview and to get the visa even if the petition process is complete in the 180 days. Can they say this is fraud when we had no intentions of having her move here until we get the proper visa?

It is perfectly legal to come to the US with the intent of getting married, it is only illegal if you intend to get married and stay. You are fine, the only problem you could have is at the border, if she tells them she is coming to get married she will have to convince them that she intends to return. If she can't convince them she will be returning to Canada they may refuse entry. Better not to tell them unless they ask but don't lie and bring plenty of proof with ties to home country.

Good Luck!

Shouldn't your bank know the laws on transferring sums of money? If they don't, find one that does, even in my small town we have just as many different banks as we do taverns and churches. Found it ridiculous couldn't even open a small 1000 buck joint account until my wife got her green card, this country has gone crazy. Not exactly talking about 25 million to pay off a terrorist.

Least you can transfer your money, can't do that with Chavez, can lose 60% of it with their black market and sneak it in, so just leaving it there, screw it, we have bread on the table and are happy.

Don't understand why you couldn't open an account. I went into a bank last summer asked to open account and as I didn't have a SSN# or green card they just wanted to see my passport, took a copy of biographic page and was done in 15 minutes.

CanadaHow did YOU find out about VJ?
I found this site not long after our lawyer had filed the I-129 for the K3, VJ was a link on our lawyers website, it was great news because then I saw timelines that showed CSC approving cases so quickly, we were expecting 6 months at USCIS. I starting getting together documents needed immediately but I wish I had navigated his web site more thoroughly a month earlier, we would have been a month further on than we are now, it took forever to get the police certificate from England.

CanadaNeo-Citrin= What is the "American Equivalent"?
I was just wondering what other countries neo citran is available in. I find it kind of strange that I discovered it here in Austria, which at the time was great, better than anything you could buy in England, and I thought it was only available here in Austria until I saw this thread about it being available in Canada it just made me wonder where else we can get it, I have take use Thera flu in the US but it's not nearly as good.

CanadaNeo-Citrin= What is the "American Equivalent"?
QUOTE (AntandD @ May 26 2009, 11:02 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi Everyone (especially to all you fellow Canucks),

Ok, my husband now has a sore throat and cough, and (besides honey and hot water, and some cough drops) all I can think of for him is:
-Neo Citrin
(you know, the lemon flavoured hot drink, that had the big St.Bernard dog commericals on tv about it)

"What is that?", my husband asks...(while coughing)
"Oh gee, I must be thinking in 'Canadian' again and you don't understand what I'm saying here...sorry...", I answer back...

And I still don't know what this product is in 'American'!..... wacko.gif

So do any of you Canucks know what the "Neo Citirin American Equivalent" is?

As well, are there any other 'American' over-the-counter products and/or home remedies we should try too (before it ends up getting worse and we have to go to the doctor for this)?

Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, etc. would be greatly apprecaited by both me (Ant) and my husband (D). Thanks

Ant (Needing help for Neo-Citrin...)

I use Neo Citran here, when I am in the States I use Thera-flu it was the nearest I could find.
