CanadaGot my interview letter-just a few days shy of the 3 month mark of MTL receiving my package
Federal workers LOVE their holidays, and use them up accordingly! the fact that peoples' futures lie in the in (or out) boxes bears no impact on time off smile.gif

Going by logic, MTL got my stuff June 15th. I banked on an answer in September (which happened). As with any office, esp. federal ones, there's always a tonne of stuff to catch up on in September, what with people away, others covering for others, etc... Based on everything I've looked into/based my guesstimate re: receiving P4 for myself, I would think July and August folks might be looking at November/December replies.

re: the 6 months noted in the P3 letter--has anyone ever heard of it taking 6 months to get an interview letter???

shoot-I'm so sorry about misleading with my 2-4 month waiting comment. I'm going purely by having analyzed/ researched experiences on here--the average wait I had noticed was between 2 and 4 months.

Government employees love and always use their paid holidays (take it from a former federal employee!); as such/like I said, I believe that now that the summer holidays are over, the bees will be back in the hive processing things/sending their letters out....

Thanks for the responses; I knew the Ottawa idea was a pipedream-still, I had to ask!

Interview is on September 28th @ 8am ... I'll be going it alone, as the American needs to stay in Austin to work...
That said, I think alot of June folks will be getting letters-vacation season is over, and their "2-4" month waiting period is coming to a close. Yay progress!

I know that Medisys does the medicals for the visa, and as such, I looked into them... It seems they have an Ottawa office (http://www.medisys.c...tions/index.htm); so-has anyone been to their Ottawa location? I've called and left a voicemail with them, but I thought I'd feel out the folks here and their experiences/advice (as usual!).

Thanks for any and all feedback!

CanadaAm I missing anything for the interview?
I'm lucky enough to be living with my guy, but I'm flying up in a few days to do my MTL interview for the 28th of this month. That said, it's hustle time-hence my flurry of clarification.

I'm bringing his recent bills/apartment lease in case they ask.... ah dunno.

I guess the only thing I'm wondering is about the part at the top that says as applicable, because it looks like they have a bunch of different requirements for other visa's too. I will email MTL on monday to see, but it looks like its a generic letter sent to all visa people and that you pick the stuff out of that list that they told you to collect in your checklist. I will confirm with them hopefully monday to let people know.

therein lies the evil part re: the domicile shenanigans--"as applicable"... um-if he didn't live in the US, he wouldn't have provided his address in the 20 000 papers we've sent already. bah!

thanks for the 6th time, TS smile.gif

you know, I'd be filing 4 or 5 times for the same visa due to mass confusion if it wasn't for this place-I really mean that.

See the attached snippet of precisely what I'd been requested to bring; I thought I'd upload it for review/comments/suggestions, as I'm now mildly weirded out that I've been asked about this domicile stuff-! smile.gif

Ohh ok, that makes sense. Evidence of domicile, slightly different than proof of domicile. Just something to show that the petitioner is in the U.S. - easy peasy good.gif

Easy as in providing bills/copy of rental agreement, etc...? I'm thinking yes, but I might be wrong...

It was part of their list... which is why I started hunting down what they were talking about. I'll bring bills, a copy of our rental agreement, etc.. I have no idea as to why they want proof that he's in the US... but he is!

no...none of the ones ive seen on here ask for proof of domicile and we all use the I-134 not the 1-864..the 864 isnt filed until AOS.

ack-my bad--a numeric typo. Yes-I've got the filled in I-134 + 3 years' of tax returns... smile.gif

thanks TS.

in my personal circumstance, they asked for the proof of domicile to bring with me to my interview... I have the signed/completed I-864 forms (which include his tax returns)... What all else should I bring?

It depends where he is and why? Most important is the why.

He is in the States/an American citizen with a job that surpasses the poverty guidelines. At risk of sounding like a bonehead re: the "why" part-do you mean why the Embassy asked for the domicile proof in my letter? Or the why is he here?

note: I'll be going the interview alone, so I'm trying to ensure i have everything from him beforehand (I think I do, but still...)

Seeing as how I wasn't allowed to edit my own post (#######).... Here's my edited version:

that's something I was confused about too--evidence of domicile for who? Now that I've looked into it, I believe they are requesting evidence of domicile from/pertaining to the US petitioner - NOT the beneficiary.

I found the "official"/federal explanations and definitions of domicile here:
http://travel.state.....html#_Domicile

*note- if I'm wrong re: my first statement about domicile being about the US petitioner, please let me know!

cripes-you'd think what with all the money and time put into these processes they'd reciprocate in some fashion with some clarity.... *argh*
