Hi guys.

I called SLMEC around 5:00 a.m. and they said they are open today (Sep 28), there is no flooding. Business as usual.

Am trying to find out what the situation is in Carriedo...called their Clearance Center but no answer. Their main office in Taft says all the clearance centers should be open, but couldn't tell me if the one in Carriedo is flooded or not.

Will keep looking for advisories on the subject. I have to get my NBI Clearance this week.

I heard from Pat this Sunday morning at 8:20 am CST. They had a total blackout for two days, some ares were still flooded. The hotel where she is was on low ground. I am sure the embassy will understand if people do not show for the interviews. I tried getting Pat on her phone, but so far it rings. That is more than it has since Friday night. Pat need s to do into the SLEC on Tuesday for the sputum test. I will post anything more I here. I will try to call Pat tonight after 6:00pm CST.

That is a good question, I am waiting to hear from my Fiancee. She is in a hotel near the embassy and SLEC on the third floor. I last talked to Pat at about 2:00am CST or about 3:00pm Saturday Manila time. At that time it was raining hard and the first level of the hotel was flooded, but power was still on. If I can get in touch with Pat I will post what I find out. I just checked the US Embassey's site and nothing about flooding there.

Oh thank u so much .. really grateful and relieved. All i need is someone whos directly seeing the current situation in Ermita Manila, so I would know if travelling to Manila for my medical exam makes sense and that I am able to get thru .Likewise, Im thinking too, of the days left prior my interview sched which is on Oct 8.

Il keep in touch and looking forward to hearing from u.

gREETINGS eVERYONE!!

I have my K1 application fee paid at BDO this morning. As the teller hands me over the form with blue receipt attached on it,Ive asked for couple sheets more since space isnt enough. Yet they only issue one form. And applicants need not to fill it out,the teller said.Is that so? Submitting a blank DS157 to the USEmbassy. Will this not cause a problem later on?

Hello peeps. smile.gif

Went to NBI Carriedo (called ahead to find out if their area was flooded) yesterday, arrived before 8:00 a.m. There was a long line outside, but it was moving quickly. You have to pay Php 20 for a stub (don't lose it) before you enter. Once inside you have to go to a booth to get an application form (for new applicants, those with corrections on their NBI clearance --- such as change in civil status), the lady who gives you the form will stamp your stub.

For those like me who are in a 2nd marriage, ask for an NBI Clearance with an a.k.a. notation (also known as). The US Embassy requires an NBI Clearance with all the names you were and are known by.

If you are there for renewal, no need to get an application form. Fill up the form and then go to the cashier to pay your fee. Go up the next floor for the following steps: data checking, quick search and image capture. At data checking, the lady will collect your stub. You must show them a valid ID with your picture and your signature. Never leave home without one. At quick search, if there is a hit on your name, they will ask you to come back after 2 days.

Otherwise, if there are no hits on your name, go get your picture taken. When you're done, go up the next floor for the following steps: fingerprinting, registering, then releasing of the certificate. At fingerprinting, you can buy little bits of wet ones to help remove the ink from your fingers (Php 2.00 each).

I wasn't there very long...only about an hour. smile.gif

We received our medical receipts, vaccination records and x-ray CDs after waiting at SLMCEC yesterday from about 9:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

When Pippo and I arrived, the guard at the front door punched in her PDS (Patient Data Sheet) number and it said Immunization 2nd Floor. I was so happy. Called my husband and the first thing I said to him was..."Boy, are you in trouble now." biggrin.gif lol He said "Oh no...both of you are coming here now?" It was a happy, happy thing.

What wasn't so happy was how long we waited to get our shots (we must have waited over 3 hours for that), and how long we waited to get the receipts, the vaccination records and the x-ray CDs (Pippo's was released around 2pm, mine close to 6pm because I was called twice to the window by one of the ladies at their Editing/Quality Control section to confirm certain entries on my medical report). We didn't eat lunch till like 4pm...although the lady at the Immunization Room did tell us we could eat after getting our shots...I didn't realize how much of a wait we were going to be in. My poor Pippo...we were both so hungry. There is a small Chinese restaurant up the street from where the clinic was...in front of the now closed Pork Avenue (Pippo laughed when she saw the sign), we had lunch there.

Wish the rest of the staff had given us fair warning about how much longer we had to wait. I was hoping to get back to the office, but those plans went out the window very quickly. Even more frustrating was that there were a lot of people yesterday but only 3, 4 or 5 people at the Releasing Counter processing clients. They have windows from A to M, for heaven's sake...what a waste of resources. And they know Mondays and Tuesdays are busy...you would think they would add more personnel at the windows to process more people faster.

A word to the wise...on your 2nd/3rd/last day, whenever you get your vaccines, go out and eat after that. Because you will be waiting a very, very long time at the Releasing Counter. Their sign says you will NOT be processed according to first-come, first served basis, but depending on your results. in my case, aside from being called to the window twice, before they even brought Pippo's records to the ground floor, I was called back up the 2nd floor because they forgot to have me sign one of the forms re: Pippo's TST findings.

Good luck on this leg of the journey! smile.gif

hurray! Thats really great to hear!!! I had my first day of medical exam and be taking my immunization and vaccination shots tommorow. Will i get my medical result: xray CD, immunization sheet and other medical receipts right before the second day ends? If not ,how many days do I to wait till the result is available. Taking all med results negative.

Theres a complete privacy between you and the doctor, so theres no need to be shy. The clinic is mandated to keen check certain illnesses /diseases.Other than whats in their list , Hemorrhoids and genital warts are not within their medical jurisdiction to give assessment concerning it ( USEmbassy mandate) though it is stated in your health records. They are most particular on the presence of Tuberculosis,HIV/AIDS and drugsubstance in your blood,to name a few. Relax..unless there's a need for operation blush.gif

hello there!!
I have some questions unclarified..lifeline? innocent.gif

1.Ive bookbound in one my Email correspondence of years 2008 and 2009?..is this ok?
?sure. there is no rule on how you will prepare your proofs of Relationship

2. Do i have to have the originals of all boarding passes,e-tickets,hotel receipts of my fiance?..
?As to me yes. All you have mentioned are all in my clearbook.

3. Do they need our NOA1 and NOA2 presented?
?I believe that wouldn't be necessary.

4.a. I have downloaded DS157 and used 3 sheets bcoz of having space not enough for items 11 and 17(educ'l and employment). Can I just have BDO's stamp and signature on one of my DS157 and transfer attachment of blue receipt on it?

4.b. OR do i have to leave DS157 blank and thats what il present to the Pre-screener?

5. Does the pre-screener need a copy of all documents and papers presented..as in COPIES of ALL documents and papers, receipts(except pictures, maybe)?
?It depends on the pre-screener what s/he will ask. Better just be prepared. I have everything ready.
Just the Cert of marriage. sad.gif

DO'S AND DONT'S to the INTERVIEW PLEASE...If i May ask? whistling.gif thank u
?eye contact to the pre-screener and consul, try your very best to be confident to the answers you are saying, and most of all, PRAY!

Im aware that your interview date is just couple days ahead of mine,so be armed and bring with you my shares of prayers and high hopes of a successful interview outcome.GOOD LUCK,GIRL. You're only 3 steps away:

3. Long Flight Home to Chuck in the US!

Enjoy it...

Bob

Greetings Bob4 Anna! Now,its No. 2 down.Ive taken my CFO(Visa to follow). Nos 1 and 3 to go! kicking.gif

PhilippinesORIGINAL Boarding passes,e-tickets,hotel receipts?
Excellent!!
One more thing, please bear with me..

I have downloaded DS157 and used 3 sheets bcoz of having space not enough for items 11 and 17(educ'l and employment). Can I just have BDO's stamp and signature on one of my DS157 and transfer attachment of blue receipt on it?

OR do i have to leave DS157 blank and thats what il present to the Pre-screener?

Ive checked ur thread that USEmbassy needs 2 copies of DS157..hence, any of which ill provide another DS157.

Africa: Sub-SaharanBeing real about marriage!!!
QUOTE (blah0323 @ Dec 16 2007, 10:21 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I decided to start this thread as a result of reading some of the other posts, concerning the good and the bad experiences.

Let me first say, I'm still married to my husband. But let me also say it has not been easy. I have learned some things from really nice seasoned married women that has helped in the relationship. Suggestions like exhibiting more patience and trying to put myself in his shoes, coming to a country with no family, no friends and learning new things to make it here in the US. Learning patience for me is still a work in progress...... whistling.gif

With that said, I went out my way to make available everything to my husband, which included cell phone, luxuries at home, supplying a whole new wardrobe. And I believe that was a mistake, it was taken for granted!! All he had to do was just mentioned it and it was done. But then it was like he was always looking for something. I put myself on the bottom of list, if I was even on the list. I needed to take care of me more as I tried to help in his adjustment. So now I make sure I pay attention to me and not just him.

Many people have their thoughts concerning Nigerian men and I made it a point to not let family know if we were having problems. But I went through the throwing of fits (him of course), money issues (when he started to work), the checking out of single sites, the porn sites, etc. which has damaged our marriage. Right now I'm trying to heal myself to be able to continue in this marriage. So I see where the feelings of being scammed for a paper comes from, but then I have to look at the whole picture and determine, if it is about a paper or is it just how this man (my husband) is.

The only left in life are lessons learned.Recognizing and accepting the person we love for who they are. In return , that person values and embraces the way we are ,too.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussionpre-interview ds-230 question

Hi guys... me again with yet another question. hah.

with the DS-230, you do just send part 1 in first, right? I'm assuming part 2 is used later.

On the check list of documents needed page, did they mentioned DS230? Usually, they are reserved for immigrant visa, and I see where you category is KI.

hi there....Upon checking on the instructions I would suggest that u have to check those bold, underlined, colored links u see. This will lead u to knowing additional information on required documents which maynot be stated outright on the checklist...link such as RECIPROCITY BY COUNTRY yes.gif .In my case, from the instruction itself it says there that applicant completes ds 230 forms, and signs up part 1 only at this time. The signing up of part 11 will be at the time of interview....therefore,both forms are submitted yet part 11 is without signature . I do hope this helps u.Goodluck! good.gif

Oops,so that means the first day she went for medical ,theyve asked her to come next day knowing shes on her period.mmm 1 point to learn there.Thank u good.gif

Travel/Abroad purposes is fine but you should have told them that you are going to US because going to US have different NBI Clearance color ( it should be "travel to US" in the clearance too) compared to going to other countries and for employment purposes.
