Still no packet 4 . He is worried his girl will not be admitted to the interview if she does not have it. They have a list of names the lady at the door checked that we were on b4 she let us in. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	SAWASDEE 2	Most processed and prepackaged foods are allowed in small limited quantities as personal effects and/or gifts. These items should be declared at the port of entry on form 6059-B. Exceptions may apply due to mad cow, the avion flu, and other risks. However, if you don't declare it, then it's likely Customs/USDA will never know, unless you are unlucky enough to have your bags examined. When travelling by myself I don't have any problems because my bags are never searched. The 2 times I have travelled with Ying our bags have been x-rayed and 1 time they were searched. At least in Minneapolis a large percentage of the asian passengers get their bags searched even if they say that they do not have any food. Yes, You are correct. I went thru with a lot of things when I was by myself but when I went thru with Tik every thing changed. We had pork (packaged) jerky and it was all taken - no big deal but I did like the taste of the Jerky.They said it was due to mad cow- Avian flu ect ect. The forms were somewhat confusing for her, so I completed most all the paperwork. Hey all, I had a issue come up with a friend I am helping and he is not able to attend the interview or fly with his S/O back to the states and she had only conversational skills also.. On the airplane they will give her a I-94 form and a customs form 6059b. 6059b sample form Also no meat even if it is dried they will take it. Dried sefood is ok . but pork, chicken and beef is a no go. You may want to visit a airport and get the forms and fill them out and mail to her or just make a mock up of the forms with the info she needs to fill out and send them to her so she can copy.. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	SAWASDEE 2	Well to all those who do not know ... We got the Visa and Tik is home. SHe is having a great time , Today is my first day back to work. I am a little worried but I think she will be just fine. We got home Sun morning at 5:30 am. We had a great interview with the man at window 6 he is very nice and speaks Thai and english. We were delayed due to a lot of name changes in the past by my Tik and they wanted to check each name. We found out friday morning all was clear and a go for the Visa and picked it up at 3pm. POE was LAx and the man was a little rude and cold but gave no problem and we came on through! Thai2luv-- I was at the embassy friday morning asking the guy at window 6 about the visa, I think your S?O should have been there. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	SAWASDEE 2	Tiksman, I think the word 'statement' is more appropriate - I don't believe that Thailand has a formal 'certificate', comparable to a marriage or divorce certificate, that is issued for such a situation as some countries do. Unless there's some reason to think that the consular officer will not believe that Tik has never been married I can think of no reason why she would want to obtain something to that effect. It's rare to hear of someone being asked for something like that in Thailand. Yodrak So is there a certificate that we need to get before the interview day?? Yodrak I think the Miss and Mrs. Is what they look for if her id says Miss then no problem but if it says Mrs she needs the certificate. We had a issue a while back where a Thai lady's name was changed but she was never married. They changed it because she had a kid. She did not have a divorce document because she was never married but her id said Mrs. Do you remember that one a few months back?? That is the one I was thinking of .. First time she said Chan Rak Koon to me I said back to her and she corrected me I must say Pom... The ladies use chan... Now we say Tee rak alot.... I just dont want you to have someone laugh at you because you said chan like happened to me And Tik is absolutely correct, although you will normally not hear a woman say Di Chan, since it meant more for writing Thai. I wrote it for Chutima, since it's a joke we have with each other. Not to have the correctness of my Thai analyzed by a farang. Thanks for your concern though. People can laugh all they want. Like Chutima says, it doesn't bother her if a farang makes a mistake speaking Thai, because it is not their language, and she appreciates anyone who trys, even if sometimes it is wrong. K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	SAWASDEE 2	In XP ..Go to control panel and click on regional and language settings go to the advanced settings tab and find all listings for thai language and put a check by them. under the languase tab click the one that says install complex language files.. click ok You will need the xp cd...restart You will get a language bar that you can switch between english and Thai... Robert Tik said the shot was for measles..She had no shot record so she got all the shots.. She went to Dr Irene at Bangkok nursing home. The DR is a She and is very nice to Tik she has been to her before. It's been awhile since I have posted anything. We were waiting on our NOA2 to arrive after having to send additional evidence to the CSC back in March. I'm happy to announce that it FINALLY came in the mail today, April the 21st!! So it took a little while, but I guess that's why it's called a journey!! I've been out of the loop for a little bit too...so...just wondering if there is anything "new" I need to watch out for or do next..just wait for the paperwork to get to Bangkok right?? I tried to explain it as clearly as I could to my beautiful Ploy, but I would really appreciate a helpful "volunteer Thai fiancee" to call my fiancee to explain to her what to expect next!! I really think that would help out!! Especially ones that have recently been through the process. Just let me know!! Thanks in advance!!! Any other help / advice / words of wisdom is more than welcomed!! Thanks all!! That is GREAT!!!!!!! CONGRATZZZZ!!!! I can have Tik call her and explain to her .. She mailed it express from the post office next to the embassy and used express mail but.... The incomming mail goes thru about 2 days of security checks b4 tne IV unit got it. I thought the packet 3 was just the checklist, and packet 4 was all of the required forms (medical, DS, etc....). According to Wan, my fiancee, she just rcvd everything (about 30 pgs) in a single packet. Packet 3 is all the forms that you will need to fill out for interview day Packet 4 is for the notification of the interview day Thai2 luv. Get those forms back to the embassy. After a 4 hour grueling wait, the interview took a total of about 4 minutes and then it was "congratulations, come back tomorrow and get your visa". K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures	SAWASDEE 2	Dear vj members, Visa pick up today. Yeaaaa!!! Anyway my fiancee never received a phone call from the Embassy to pick up her visa. I mentioned earlier that her visa was held for a final "computer check" and the Embassy would call her when it was ready. Well having her flight on the 21st a monday pick up would be the latest to make the flight. my impatience was overflowing. So I e-mailed the Embassy a second time. They e-mailed me back the same day and said that she can pick up her visa tomorrow at 1500. What I am saying to people is that if anyone in the future gets this type of call back situation--give them a day or so then e-mail them. I was very impressed they replied to me the same day yet very unhappy that they never called her back when everything was ready. One more hour till pick up. By the way she was only asked 2 questions at her interview--when did she see me last? and where did we meet? Take care all Greg and Nin Las Vegas bound!!! Congratulations! Greg and Nin We will be so happy when we have our visa. Counting the days until April 24th! Jass is going back to Bumrungrad in BKK next Monday to get her second vaccination shot. She just couldn’t get it any where in Ubon Ratchathani. While she is there she is going to try to get the doctor to transfer the medical data onto the new forms(not-expired). She isn’t to sure if they will do that for her. I spoke to someone on the phone at the hospital about doing it and they just didn’t understand what I wanted. They kept telling me that the medical was good for 6 months. I wish I could make them understand what I am trying to do. Jass tried also but they didn’t listen to her. Right now I'm stationed in Charleston, SC Yeah this RFE thing sux..I thought I had my bases covered.. then whamo.. Hopefully the passport will seal the deal then we can move on! Congrats to you btw..I was expecting to celebrate alongside with you since our cases were pretty close together! You are not to far from me I am in Atlanta. We have 4 Thai wifes here in my little circle soon to be 5. I was worried about a rfe or admin review also as Tik has had 12 name changes. (religious belief). I was in the army and spent 2 years over in the middle east and I dont want to return there ever. Get the rfe and send it back quick and the noa2 will come within 1 week of them getting it back.
