K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedures8-1-2011 K1 changes?
Let's think for a moment.................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................

How much sense does that make???

Right. It does not.

I would not entertain the idea that it could be true.

Yes, it's a different fee. She has to go to the bank and pay that and bring the receipt with her to the interview.

another question: i see a lot of members saying the foreign fiance has to pay $350 to NBC bank and show the receipt at embassy at time of interview. Is this another $350 fee different from the one i have already sent in with my I-129F?? if not what payment are they talking about??

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-1 application

Our timeline is very close to yours (6/8/11 & 6/13/11) and we had a touch on 6/15/11, just a couple days after ours arrived, which to me seems like it just got moved from one desk to another and nothing else done with it. We are also set up for all alerts but have heard nothing as of yet. My thinking is that we just keep on being patient  Frustrating I know but what else can we do but wait, right?

Best of luck on your journey and hope the both of us will hear something soon.

i hope so!!! this wait is annoying:-)..but my baby is worth it.

ok,..thx for the info. i guess this is something that will be in packet3 or 4.

So my fiancé goes to the RGD in Jamaica and they told him there is no record of him being married which Is correct since he has never been married but they don't give a certificate out for that.. Does that sound right???
Mr&MrsSmithFemaleJamaica2011-07-30 10:32:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresnon impediment

CORRECTION:

This information comes directly from the Registrar General's website:

A No-Impediment Certificate commonly referred to in North America as a “single status affidavit” is an official document indicating that an individual has never been married. In Jamaica No-Impediment Certificates are issued on security paper by the Registrar General’s Department. It is the document that can be used as evidence that an individual has never entered into a union of marriage in the island of Jamaica. If a marriage is located with records of the RGD; the applicant is advised via a no-impediment letter.

How are you sure the government knows he is the father? Do you know how that system works in Jamaica?

I would have him explain it at the embassy just as you stated - That you interpreted the forms to mean that she was coming with him or would be coming, but that yes, he has a child that he does not intend to have come to the US.

Sus mi born and grow a jamaica so me know dem nuh hi tech like good ol USA. It was a simple mistake on my part..no one was trying to deny her existence. i could have sworn i read somewhere once you add the kid(s) on the application i would be obligated to pay the same all the fees the visa entails. I dont know if i have "created a mess" when u have people who forget to put that they were previously divorced and still get approved once they did add it on the form... but never the less I have sent embassy a detail email hoping to clear up the matter. i know jamaica embassy can gwaan bad sometime but we will see what happens, weh dem a guh do tell him him denied from now and nuh bada come a di interview and lose out pon di $350???????
**fyi it was the ds-230 & the I-129f that i didnt put his daughter name on. the ds 156 he didnt even do yet since the interview is a month away.

hey guys...my fiance has a daughter that he does not have contact with. He has not seen her in over 6 months. when i filed the i-129f i didnt not add her name on the application nor did he add her on the ds156 . my question is when he goes to his interview 11/10 and they ask him if he has kids what should he say?? we do not want to deny her existence, i just didnt add her name in the beginnng because i thought i would then have to get her passport & medical and etc..even though she would not travel with him (her mother let it be known she would never let her go)!!

i do agree with lifes journey ..the visits are kind of sketchy, but then again you guys have a long history, and no one knows ur financial situation. just b/c you make enough money doesnt mean you dont have issues. was the phone log extensive?? or just once in a while?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresk-1 interview

Plenty of people have been approved and the petitioner was not at the interview. In past years at the Kingston Embassy it was almost a requirement that the petitioner go, however some did not go and still the visa was approved... In 2010 they changed the rules and now they will not allow the petitioner in the embassy, so if you go you have to wait outside. I think it can help if something is missing, as they have US Citizen hours where the petitioner can go and ask questions or submit additional evidence as was the case with Erica... the main thing is the amount of evidence of ongoing relationship and the beneficiaries ability to answer the interviewers questions confidently and honestly.

i fully agree about having the money for the interview and everything else but the situation with ericanmark said is exactly what i thought about when i booked my ticket. there is another member here whose fiance went to the interview an forgot a simple piece of paper and they put off his interview for another 6 weeks!!!..plus my man dont know what a tax return look like and gave him 3 copies.,so i cant take that chance...lol!!! i do know that they dont permit the petitioner in the interview but you just never know.

I been on this website now since june and i have gone back to 1996 researching other peoples journey with the k-1 visa. Now is it me or the majority of people who get denied their petitioner did not fly down for the interview ????..knowing Jamaicans i can see them thinking something wrong with this relationship " yuh mean fi tell me seh u man/ooman have a interview ahn yuh nuh come dung fi support him...DENIED???...lol, i'm joking but I do want to hear other peoples thoughts on this.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPassport stamps
You dont need every page of the passport for either. For citizenship, get a notarized copy of the naturalization certificate (but they only request copies, not notarized copies- so either will work...). Then for proof of meeting in person, use passport stamps copies + flight iteneraries and/or boarding passes (the tickets you give to the airline when going on the plane).

By the way, notarized copies can be made for $3 at any UPS Store, usually http://www.theupssto...ages/index.aspx

Also,
Ours went through so fast at NVC (1 day), it didn't matter. They can use the USCIS EAC recipt number when you call them.
Your NVC case number will look like BCH2010xxxxx and that number is most useful when calling Bucharest Embassy with questions
about the interview, packet 3 , etc.

When did the NVC receive your approved petition? Call the state dept with your EAC receipt number. NVC phone number is here in the forums.

3 years of photocopied tax returns is all I needed at Bucharest. They only asked for one year.. but I took 3.
Or get tax transcripts here, it takes 2-3 weeks. IRS transcripts are the best evidence of income.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWork Dilemma
Ok here's my situation.. I haven't applied for a K-1 Visa but i plan to next summer. I graduated in May with a BS but haven't had much luck finding a better job so i'm stuck at my retail job for the moment(ive been working there since June 2010 but only about 20-30 a week average so im technically part-time). At my work you have the option of becoming a dog groomer (full-time). Which is good pay and over the 125% poverty level. My issue is when i start the training (October, 2011) i'm locked into a 2 year job contract (if i don't stay 2 years they will make me pay 4,000 which is the cost of the training). The reason i was even considering staying was when i need to fill out the 1-134 im assuming stating your in a job contract would be good for proving you have a stable job and can support that person. My other option is turning down the offer to go and just looking for something better but i wont have been at the job very long when i need to fill out the 1-134....as far as the past three years tax returns i was not working in 2009 and i only made 7,000 in 2010. This is year will be probably around 13...but next year is will be way over the 125%. ( yes i'm aware of getting a co-sponsor ( i have some in mind) and to be honest i'm surprised how easily people can get someone to do that for them..lol)...thank you for anyone who has some kind of advice or opinion. Most of my friends and family have never had to deal with this kind of process and have no insight at all on what i should).....:)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRidiculous Letter From USCIS
Hi, we did a service request on June 2 as we were nearing our 6month mark. We then got an e-mail response June 16 stating our application is still in initial review and that we would hear within 60days whether our K1 petition is approved, denied or we would get further instructions, probably in case of a RFE. I was in tears for 2days as I found this absolutely ridiculous and was just really missing Joe. We got our NOA2 the very next week, June 21. Hope this helps and good luck. Marichen

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK1 Visa Guide & Payment as required by USCIS

Hi Jen

When the USCIS cashes your check your will see it as a debit from your bank account. For example when you check your account you will see $455.00 was taken from your account electronically. They will process your check electronically and will not place a stamp on your check.

This is the first sign that your case has been processed. A few days after your check has been cashed, you should receive a letter in the mail from the USCIS which is NOA1. The letter will have your receipt / case number in the top right side of the page and you can then register your account on the USCIS website to receive updates on your case. After you register your account you can decide if you want to get notice of updates by e-mail, text message or both.

Also uou don't need to file this G-1145 form to get updates. You can do this at the USCIS site once you get your case number. I registered our account on the site and it takes just a few minutes.

It took us 88 days for our petition to get approved. It was a long wait but once you get the approval things start moving pretty quickly.

I hope this helps you.

USCIS case status page:

It helped a lot actually! Thank you!! :)

So according to that website, text/email notification are only available when filed at one of three USCIS facilities that are located in chicago, IL, Phoeniz, AZ, and Lewisville, TX...

Is that right or am I looking at the wrong thing?

Thanks! :)

Yes, but also as Alan said, they will type the receipt number (at least the AOS) one on the back of the cheque and when you "view" your personal cheque through your bank you will see that number. Though if you signed up for email/text updates you will also get the receipt numbers by text/email.

GJen,

If you have online access to your bank you can view the check that USCIS cashed. On the back of the check is the receipt number (will start with a WAC for CSC filings and EAC for VSC filings). Then go to: https://egov.uscis.g...is/Dashboard.do and enter your receipt number. You will see that USCIS has received your petition and you can sign up for email and text message updates.

Alan

Neat!

"To view the status of a case, please enter the corresponding application receipt number. The 13-character application receipt number can be found on application notices you have received from the USCIS."... so that means once we get a NOA, we'll have the application receipt number and be able to track it that way?

This may be a dumb question, but I have very little experience with checks, so please forgive me!

When they say to pay using a personal check so you can track the payment; do they just mean so you can check it against your bank statement to see when it cleared your bank? Or is there a special process involved in "tracking the payment"?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresMiscellaneous Symbol Showing Up on My Form(.pdf)??

In Acrobat Reader, go the "Edit" menu and select "Preferences". This will open the Preferences dialog box.

In the "Categories" pane on the left, look for the field labeled "Forms" and click on it. On the right side, in the box labeled "General", find the check box marked "Show text field overflow indicator" and turn it off (unchecked). Click on "Ok".

The forms will no longer display with the black box, nor will the black box be printed on forms you send to the printer. This won't make it possible to fit more into the box than you currently can, and some text may be clipped, but you won't see the black box anymore.

Thank you!!! :)

I believe it means you've typed more information that can be shown on in that particular field. Usually this means you'll need to shorten your answer, abbreviate or continue the answer on a separate sheet of paper.

That would make sense. However, when it printed off, it shows all of what I typed plus the black box with the white plus. =/
I doubt I would get an RFE for it, right?
