IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresDelay on issue of medical report
I don't know if there is really a question in this or if I just need some words of encouragement.

My interview is next Tuesday (8th) in London and I am as prepared as I can be. However, when I had my medical (way back in September) the chest x-ray showed some 'fibrotic shadowing' on one of my lungs. They said it could be old, it could have been caused by pneumonia (never had that as far as I am aware) or radiotherapy (never had that either). It could also indicate inactive TB and initially the clinic said it would just mean that my medical results would only be valid for six months rather than the usual twelve. I went to see my GP anyway because of course I wanted to know what it was and she referred me for a CT scan. The clinic then got back in touch and said that they wanted me to have an apical x-ray. When I told them I had already been referred for the scan they said they would be happy to use the results of that instead, provided I got a copy of the images on CD as well as the written report.

I had the scan on 21st October and I knew time was getting a bit short but I contacted the hospital today and they still haven't written the report on it! Apparently lots of doctors take time off over half-term! After that it still has to get to my GP, I have to have an appointment with my GP and then I have to get the report to the clinic (I have already sent them the CD). So it doesn't look like the Embassy will have my medical report when I go for my interview - though I should hopefully have had the results of the scan by the so I will know if there is anything to worry about.

Assuming there is nothing (I have no symptoms and I am well), should I just take the scan report and explain that they should have the report from the clinic in a couple of days? Will they hold on to my passport and return it once they get the report? If not, what will happen? Has anyone had a similar experience? I am hoping to leave for the US early December so there is no mad panic to get my visa back but I am frustrated at not being able to plan and I can't even get excited about the interview at the moment.

Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom.

Cathy

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview in London Wednesday.

Have been a "lurker" for a while, just thought I would say Hi and ask one of those stupid questions.

Started my journey in January 2011, My wife and 3year old child both have US passports. I am applying for a CR1 visa, hope to move to Florida next year.

What can I expect on Wednesday and anything I should be aware off.....
and
Should my wife attend.

Ken.

Hi Ken. I had my interview last Tuesday and as everyone says, London is really straightforward. You can read my review here:
http://www.visajourn...php?entry=8673.

Just be aware that you can't take anything electrical in - phone is obvious but it also means your car key if it has a battery in it and the images on the sign outside also show headphones and pen drives.

Good luck.

Hey guys...did you apply through Chicago Lockbox or USCIS Field office in London?

Our application went to the CSC - I think it was sent to the Dallas Lockbox first. Definitely not the London Field Office anyway.

Ironically, after my earlier response to your question, although they told me that i would receive my visa in 7-10 days, it actually arrived in two! Not that it mattered too much as I am not leaving until Dec 4th.

Good luck with your interview.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview to Visa received London

So we just received our interview date which will be friday the 18th of November. We are super excited but are just wondering whether anyone has any information or experience on the time period between the interview and receiving the visa in the post, (we heard the London embassy does not process the visa the same day). Thanksgiving falls on November 24th and obviously we would love to be together for it, but are not sure whether this is a realistic goal, Any thoughts?

Congratulations. My interview is 8th November.

My impression is that 6 days (actually only 5 if you want to be there by 23rd) is too optimistic, especially as that includes a weekend. You might get it very quickly but I think they will tell you 3-5 business days to get it to the courier.

I found this on the London Embassy Info page. http://www.visajourn...gdom&cty=London

Visa issued same day? No
If not whats the waiting period? The passport with visa is delivered back to the applicant via Secure Mail Services (SMS) courier operating under the brand-name DX Secure. This takes anywhere from 24 hours to a week. The cost is from £14.50 for the basic service, payable by most debit/credit card only as cash is not accepted. SMS contact number 0870 950 1760 SMS website www.securemail.co.uk SMS contact number the latest number 0871 562 6666 SMS website is www.thedx.co.uk

For what it's worth, I have been reading this thread where people have been able to get an earlier interview by contacting the Embassy directly:

Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresLondon Interview tomorrow!!!

So our Interview is tomorrow and not a day too soon! Nervous but excited, can't wait to be together and have a normal Skype free relationship, hope it goes Ok!

I know what you mean. Trevor and I have been saying that we are so looking forward to not having to talk to each other on the phone and not having to send the 'good morning' email.

I felt exactly like you before my interview but you will be fine. It actually feels quite strange after all the stress and frustration of waiting for NOA1, NOA2, Case Number, invoices, CC etc etc

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresInterview Question for CR1
Have you looked on the London Embassy website for London specific instructions? You won't need photos if you sent them to NVC and the clinic will send your medical results to the embassy. I took two folders of documents and evidence, including more originals and more copies of all my documents, and all I was asked for was my passport and interview letter. Mind you, I did read a thread on here before my interview where someone was asked for an original of the marriage certificate from their previous marriage and sure enough the London site does say that you need certificates from all marriages. That panicked me so I got another certified copy of mine but they didn't ask for it.

Good luck.

It's a lot more than we sent. All we sent as proof of our ongoing relationship was three affidavits as we were not living together at the time and therefore had nothing to show any financial co-mingling. We were approved with no problems.

It is hard to answer because your profile does not say where you will be interviewing and you have not filled out your timeline so I would just suggest that you look at the link at the top of this page for Embassy Reviews and then find your Embassy.

Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGeneral update and question
We sent nothing other than the affidavits. For the I-130 they want evidence of your ongoing relationship so the phone/email evidence from before you were married is not totally relevant. The bills and joint bank account are good. We had no evidence of financial co-mingling at the time we filed so we couldn't send it but it wasn't an issue. We had more by the time of the interview but it wasn't needed.

Incidentally, after we filed Bank of America added me to my husband's account with no legal resident status. It took just a few minutes. That was in Georgia.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCR1 Processing Times for USC marrying UKC??
There is nothing wrong with traveling to Vegas to get married - it would only be a problem if he intended to stay which he clearly doesn't. I would just make sure he has as much proof as possible that he is going back.

We got through the whole process from filing to visa in under eight months and that included a slight hold up because when we started out Trevor was not a USC. There is nothing you can really do to speed up the process at USCIS but once we got to NVC we were ready with everything the minute it was asked for.

Good luck and congratulations.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting period for green card in mail?

Oh, welcome to USA! You entered the country on the same day as my wife.

I am not too worry about the green card processing, I am concerning about if the USCIS will remember to inform the SSA office as I had selected to apply for SSN on her immigrant visa form.

That's cool, I hope she is settling in well. I am expecting to have to go to the SSA office in a few weeks - after Christmas probably. If a card turns up in the mail it will be a nice surprise,

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWaiting period for green card in mail?

Thats how long it could take, depends on your app and if you have no mistakes or Rfe's. Granted some people have received them in 4 to 6 weeks. There is a web site you can check your status after you recieve the first letter.

After I found out I was approved off the web site it took approximately 2 weeks.

I'm sorry but I think you still haven't quite understood the question. Kamhoe is talking about receiving the Green Card after you enter on an immigrant visa such as a spouse visa. At that point the application is complete and approved so there will be no mistakes or RFEs - they just need to produce and mail out the card. I did my POE last Sunday at Atlanta and they told me three to six weeks.

Here is a link to the London medical information. Near the top of page 2 it tells you that the results are valid for 12 months. Shame.

I suggest you go armed with information from your GP about your recent condition - mine went back 17 years (so the prognosis was pretty good!) but they still wanted the details.

I got an I-797C (NOA) dated 4 days after my POE. The notice type is 'Welcome Notice'. It was issued by the Texas Service Center and basically says that they have received my packet from the POE and that I should hear from them within 30 days. They give a Customer Service number: 800-375-5283. If you call you will probably need your A number which should be on the visa stamp in your passport - your Registration Number (although there is an additional 0 at the front of my A number).

Good luck.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBona Fide Marriage questions
When we filed we had only been married a few weeks so we had no evidence of an ongoing marital union. We were also living on different continents so we had none of the financial commingling evidence. All we submitted along with our marriage certificate were three affidavits from people who knew us. They were all friends but one also happened to be my husband's ex-boss. We had no issues with our approval. We then worked on the other evidence ready for the interview but of course London did not ask for any of it.

I agree with Saylin - it is useful to have a copy (and as you say, crucial in the unlikely event that the original were to go missing) but we didn't actually need ours at any time.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresspouse visa - what is the process?
Just to let you know, we did the spouse visa and went from filing to visa in hand in just over 7 months so it can be a pretty quick process. I would certainly recommend it for the very reason you are considering it - having the ability to work (or at least seek work) as soon as you arrive.

Also, the only evidence we submitted (apart from our marriage certificate of course) was three affidavits from people who knew us as a couple.
