I was waiting for that "if you got the money" part. I'd love to ride in a Mig or see the moon from orbit, but as for now, I'll keep it simple with a tour of the AK factory.

do they give tours of that....lolololol.

One of my friends in Russia has a son that worked in the AK factory in Izhevsk; he could not speak English so we did not have a lot to talk about and he was only 16.

did he give you a tour? laughing.gif

Check out http://www.aircraftbargains.com and you'll find a few TU154's for sale, including one recently completed VIP overhaul that they're asking $11 million for.

That one said, "Make offer!" I would, but I don't think the trade-in value on my Jeep would cover it.

I think I'd have to buy the Mi-24 just for something to play around with.

No more human sacrifice she said Ill just have a dry martini
Just let me put my underwear in your computer

She had another taxi for breakfast

Fine, double shot Tequila, no lime, no salt, worm optional

Nice retort!

I don't "chase" when I drink. I also don't play drinking games and I hate going to the bar to drink. The way I see it, I don't need a freakin excuse to get drunk ("let's play @$$#ole! so we can get f'd up!") and I don't need a diversion while I'm concentrating on imbibing. Pool, darts, Sportscenter, etc., those are all diversions. The only reason to go to a bar or club is to meet members of the opposite sex and now that I'm married, I have no good reason to pay a 2,000% mark-up on all my drinks. If people want to "be social" then they can be social in my backyard - FOR FREE!

And one thing I absolutly (not misspelled, this is drinking thread, right?) refuse to do is pay a cover charge. "So let me get this straight. You're going to charge me $20 on top of the already over-priced drinks, food, and everything else just for the right to stand here?" The way I see it, if this place is so cool I have to pay for the right to be there, I either need exposed breasts in my face (also don't pay to go to those places or tip those "entertainers") or a ball being thrown around. Other than that, my buddies are paying my way in or we're going to a dive bar.

I do, however, have a standing rule for shots and general drinking - If you put it in front of me, I will drink it. Also, I will drink until all my money's gone or all the alcohol is gone. Whichever comes last.

You guys gotta make it to Cincinnati sometime so we can go to the Hofbrauhuas. They make authentic German beer there and serve it up in big ol' liter steins. Their Dunkel is worth slappin your mama, in the face!

Shots of Russian Standard or mixed with juice.

Baltika (4 & 7) is often found in the fridge too.

Russkiy Standart is pretty tasty! (Plus it's cool to show everybody like, "see, that says Russkiy Standart which means 'Russian Standard.' American Standard, well, that's a toilet. See where our priorities are? That says alot about us as nations. The Russians set their standards as a pretty good vodka. We set ours as a pretty good crapper. Put that in your glass and drink it." - Always good for getting the world affairs conversations started.

Baltika 4 is my favorite. I drink a 6 sometimes too, but that 4 is AWESOME! My buddy said it's the "bacon beer." And whenever I'm out of Old English 800, I'll settle for a Baltika 9.

But at least these past few weeks have blown by. 2 weeks ago I somehow missed two entire days. I went through the entire day, until 2pm; thinking it was a Wednesday. It was a Friday. I was pleasantly suprised, and then really confused and agitated that I simply lost 2 days. Now if I could only wake up and have it be 2010 I'd be much happier. Oh and if $6000 would magically appear in my bank account I'd be ecstatic.

Jonathan; our NOA dates are relatively close, good to have your on-board

ah my friends welcome to the suck, yes waiting for noa2 is ...to me anyway...the most boring part of the k1,from what mox says, once noa2 arrives,it moves to the state department, and the roller coaster ride begins,it should be sometime next month,or early september for my noa2.just getting there is a horrid wait.all you can do is just sit tight, every day that passes is a day closer to it. kicking.gif

I would've definitely scooped those up.

I can't believe this made it out into the press. This is how business is normally done when govt. agencies and "shell companies" trade arms and equipment. How do you think Venezuela acquires F-16s?

The govt. is smart enough to "sell" them without good engines or weapons systems. Those usually have to be smuggled through a third country and almost always are 2nd or 3rd generation - that way we can still defeat them. They're still plenty good for the new users to use on their own guys or close enemies, but not good enough to "bite the hand that feeds them."

Everyone loves money! (I bet the guy who sold those jets made significantly more than $5 as a "finders fee.")

is that how iran got our f-14's

Prosecutors Say MiGs Sold for $5
07 August 2009
By Nabi Abdullaev / The Moscow Times
Nizhny Novgorod region prosecutors opened a criminal investigations into the sale of four MiG-31 supersonic long-range fighter jets to a shell company for $5 apiece, the Prosecutor General’s Office said Thursday in a statement on its web site.
The MiGs — which had been stored at the Nizhny Novgorod’s Sokol aviation plant that produces them — were sold without engines and weapon systems, but even in such a condition they’re each worth at least 116 million rubles ($3.7 million), the statement said. ...
An appraisal valued the MiGs at 153 rubles each, and they were sold in a tender to a shell company, Metalsnab, that had no right to trade in arms or military equipment, the statement said. As a result, the federal budget suffered damages of more than $15 million.

Thank you. I have looked at the U.S. Embassy site, but it was unclear to me from the site whether she had to send in some of the documents in advance or just have them by the time of the interview. Also, I was curious precisely what information would be sent out to her from Moscow. We are trying to project roughly when the interview will fall (which, I understand we cannot schedule but will be assigned to us), because I am thinking about trying to arrange things in my life so that I can make a short trip to spend time together in Moscow (yes, I know I am not allowed in the embassy waiting room, and that according to Brad they are more lax about it in Kiev).

The reply from Clueless was very helpful in clearing these things up. Wishing good luck to Clueless with regard to fiancee's interview.

ND is funny and even clever at times, but overall I don't think it really holds up. Certainly it doesn't come close to TBL or even Ferris Bueler's Day Off. Funny concept but the execution just wasn't very consistent. I'm guessing it would be pretty obscure for a Russian, but who knows, I've been surprised.

CaribbeanPassport vs Visa Dominican Republic...I'm confused!

You also need a copy of the passport data page for the NVC stage. You need to get one as soon as possible.
