Hi everyone--

I'm getting ready for my interview in 4 or 5 weeks... I hope I have everything together, Do you think i should take my w-2 from this past tax year as well as the transcript from 2005? The expenses are becoming overwhelming for me and my hubby, everything costs so much and i'm still a student, but i'm happy i'll get my degree in May and my husband will be there to cheer for me. So right now its getting to crunch time! i'm not really thinking about the interview for some reason, but i think i should. I'd been so anxious to get a date and now that i have gotten the date, Im feeling really relieved. I did have a nightmare that i forgot to bring something to the interview, though. Is it a fact that we have to have to 2 copies of my husband's birth certificate? I don't see why they would need that. Well, anyway just saying hi!.. susanwill's interview was yesterday and i'm praying that everything went fine. She's probably the only one that can 100% accurate info.

I am impatient, I know and my husband isn't as antsy about it as I am, but I cannot get the consulate to respond to ANY of my emails... It's as if they are ignoring them... When I call they say "just email and we'll respond" but they never have and I've given them days time to answer. In fact when I called last Friday, I spoke with a girl and she checked the email while I was on the phone... I'm just anxious and the waiting is annoying to me... They've had my case for going on a month next week, it hasn't taken anyone else that long to get a date.

Hi,

I'm applying for the IR/CR1 visa and the NVC is now doing its final processing, they have all the paper work and it will take 2-4 weeks from there, my question is what are the interview dates looking like now? I'm thinking the interview will be in january because if it takes up to 30 days to get an interview then that will be the timeframe i'm working with. Who has an interview date in mid or late December? anyone Yet? I love Jamaica at Christmas time, but the tickets are always expensive, so I'm anticipating an interview soon but i'd kinda love to miss the Christmas Rush.. nah Mean? lol thanks Cam

Hate to be the bearer of bad news....

Hello everyone, i need your help and suggestions-

I never thought this could be happening to me, I filed for my husband and our relationship was declining but we continued to "work on it" now when it was time to go about everything, my husband became hesitant to come to america. I couldn't understand why, he didn't have any money or job and his living wasn't so great so i thought it would be a good idea for him to come and atleast visit for a few months.

That was 2.5 months ago, my husband during his visit was lazy, quiet and mean. He was nice at times but our relationship was mostly strained by his constant complaints. He didn't really like it here.. He used my phone to call his girlfriend down in jamaica constantly, i could tell it was a woman by the way he reacted to my questions and the way the person responded when i called the numbers. He has ran up all my bills to the point where i cannot pay them. Anyway, it was a nightmare, i talked to his family and they told me to leave him. So anyway, he has left and gone back a yard, leaving me with no money or anything, he told me he was coming back. He called me once to tell me he landed and never after that. I called him and I told him i felt that he didn't care about me and that i didn't want him to return after leaving me this way and he was so detached and he said "didn't i try to make u see that?" so he asked me what did i want to do because he didn't feel the same way about me anymore and i said nothing and then he said "move on, cam" and he said he would call me back later (i guess he was so happy to be back with his girlfriend) i said "why bother" and hung up.

I feel relieved that he is gone from my life, i should have gotten rid of him a long time ago but i was trying to honor the sanctity of marriage. I tried to do anything to keep my husband but he wasn't giving anything in return. Now he has recieved his conditional green card, but he's not in the country and i dont want him to be able to come back, naturally. I know this time next year i will be alright but right now i feel bad.. I'm 23 years old, divorced used and abandoned. I was just acting on my my youth and now i'm thrown away.

I would like to have his visa revoked so that he cannot come back, but i was told this was not possible until 2 years from now. I know that he will regret what he has done because it's not really in his nature to be so cold (or so it seems), I know he doesnt like atlanta but i believe he will try to come back later. He has a job in jamaica and he worke a small job here off the books, I know he can lose his gc if he does not pay taxes, so maybe that's one way.

I need your help.

Sorry to hear about this. Take care of yourself. Like others said there is nothing you can really do to take his visa away. The support thing is also true for 10 years unless you had some form of a prenuptial agreement used. Hug and remember that you still have a lot of life ahead of yourself. :luv:

Thank you all... all these things is true, i really do think he will be too lazy to do anything to help himself in anyway.. I have learned a valuable lesson, beyond anything i could imagine. I told my mother, from this experience i have learned what i would've learned in a atleast 5 different relationships.. I've realized i didn't really love him anymore, i just grew comfortable with him after the years of waiting and things. and i understand that there's nothing to do but move on as he has. I can't afford a divorce right now because of my predicament, so i'm just spending the time getting myself back to myself and remembering to always love myself more than a man, which i didn't at times in my relationship. I know i didn't do anything wrong to him, only to myself and that's the truth and i think that's the only reason why my stomach hurts so much." My friends are taking me out for a "coming out" party and i'm getting back in shape, cuz I'm Back on the Market Baby! I am a jamaican american woman and i'm praying that he doesn' t taint me from men of my culture, but i know the next time i'm back a yard, a guy comes over mi granny's house, i'll just low him... lol..

as for the other woman who is having trouble getting her man on the plane, i'd be wary, cuz Rahan was the same way before too. cuz ain't no seafood festival that important.

hey everyone, what a gwaan?

I'm just dropping in and looking at the tread, luv's post helped me see what lies ahead of me, my husband will be here on the 17th and i can already tell it will be a trial, i am grateful for the insight. I was just talking to my mum today cuz rahan wants to work asap cuz we're both very broke from the whole thing and i was telling her i didn't want him to take certain jobs cuz i don't want him to be exploited, but she showed me that "yuh haffi crawl before yuh walk" so i let go of that..

I just moved and i haven't changed the address with USCIS but when i went to the website to change the address, AR-11 asked for a alien number but he doesn't have one yet so i don't know what to do. i don't want them to send any of our info to my old address. what do i do?

Hello..
I know that it has been a while since I've posted anything... My husband got his visa this tuesday. I am not as lucky as many other posters, it seems once everyone else's spouse get their visas, they're already on di plane... but my hubby is uneasy about coming... He has ends to tie, he says.. I respect that, isn't there a time frame on which you can travel with the CR visa? I told him two months and he says he will come in almost two months, but I want to be sure..

He wants to come, but he says it makes him feel like he's going to a new school and he doesn't know anyone.. which I guess is true, he knows my family only, I can't think of any ways to ease his nervousness, so I'm going to be patient and understanding, i'm trying.

But is that true with the visa? I know k1 visas have 3 months.. what about CR1 visas?

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Procedureswhere's my NOA1?
 I sent the I-130 in june, I know it was received on june 17th, cuz I asked for the signature. It's now july 6th and I haven't heard from TSC saying they got my petition neither have they cashed my check... So I went to the website today to see what's going on. I didn't assemble my petition correctly, I didn't tape the sides, and I didn't put the pictures in an envelope... There were no instructions like these on the application for the I-130, itself so I didn't know how they wanted it, I put everythiing in a folder neatly and gemclipped the pictures to the bio sheet and clipped the check to the side... Now I'm thinking my petition is scattered around some big room full of papers...Could this be why I haven't received anything? I'm so worried, i wish I could just get it back and send it again. Any ideas?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresMy Husband's Interview Date is 2/1/07
That sounds about right to me... I used a book by the nolo law publishing company called obtaning a green card through marriage, and it gave step by step instructions on filling out the forms and everything... they also included a pull out check list of things to bring to the interview, i have it in my extensive "hubby come home" file that is at home. I can post the list at a later time, thanks for the email post as well. that was what I was looking for... I was gonna call now but I'll wait till next week sometime. My husband is being too nonchalant about the whole thing, we sat down and did all the paper work for I-130 and I-129f at the same time so I guess he thinks thats all I've had to do... I wish he could see this huge stack of things i've been compiling and the phone bills and all that.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresThe NVC blows
This is something I've been thinking about for some time....

Now, my husband"s case was forwarded last week, so thankfully I am finish with them, but the NVC's operators I believe are some the worst customer service reps, I have ever dealt with in my life.. and I do customer service over the phone and I can be pretty bad sometimes (my mum says its karma) but they are horrible. First of all, it takes forever to connect to them whenever you want to ask them anything and then when you are finally lucky enough to get in queue and they take the call, they act so exasperated as if you are wasting their time. And it's not just one experience this is everytime... I have had one good experience with one of their ops and the rest were horrible. I know this process can be hard and exciting when you are finally seeing progress with your case, and i always make it a point to hide my excitement and only ask reasonable questions but they act as if they don't know that their job is to reunite family members. It's disgusting...

thankfully I am now finish with them and i no longer have any reason to call on them, to those who are still dealing with the NVC just hang on and you will be delivered too.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reportshow to wait patiently & positively

Hello All!

I was lucky enough to spend 7 months (I studied there) with my fiance in his country (Morocco). I returned home (US) 3 months ago. I'm trying to keep myself busy with work and school (I'm a university student), but still feel distracted with this waiting process. It's hard for me to feel focused or grounded in the things I do now that I'm home. I think part of what I'm experiencing is reverse-culture shock and the other part is simply missing my fiance. I'm curious about how you all have managed to keep focused, positive, and patient while your loved one(s) are so far away. I look forward to hearing any of your anecdotes, stories or tips! :)

Hi welcome!
Yes Nigeria is 1 of the most difficult embassies due to scams. But as long as your relationship is real, and you have your docs to prove that your relationship is real, then you have nothing to worry about.

THanks, Thank God we dont have any of those red flags been there twice this year already and going this december for our traditional engagement hope that helps too.

Welcome! Even though you are using a lawyer it will still be in your best interest to familiarize yourself with the process. In dealing with USCIS, DOS knowledge is power. There are great guides, reviews, forums, etc...

Best of luck in your journey! Wishing you smooth sailing.

Nigeria is a terribly difficult country to go through. They are considered high fraud so they make you work for your visa. Even with all that bad apples still slip through. One case just surfaced. If you have any of the "red flags" you are going to have a harder time . Red flags include Female older than the man, different races, different religions, only one trip, meeting through relatives, no pictures with family. There are more those are the ones that frequently come up in Nigeria.

good luck

When she gets here, watching our American TV will be helpful to pick up the slang. However, my husband has been quick to pick up the less than appropriate slang and use it everywhere. "#######" is his favorite word, I didn't even know how often he used it until we had the AOS interview a while ago. He said it so often, that the IO said that watching children's tv is a better way to learn English, lol.

Community colleges have lots of state sponsored classes so they are free. The conversation classes are very good. You get people from all over the world and they share their stories, how they got here, what they think of the US. Its also a good idea to do before she has EAD, she won't sit bored at home.

thank you,i will remember to monitor what words she is picking up(lolololol)

You've definitely come to the right place. Lot of good people here who have been through what you're about to go through. Honestly, don't even waste your time posting in the K1 forum, you'll get a lot more helpful and experienced answers here. What you're likely to get in the K1 forum is a mish-mash of opinions, some of which may be accurate, but many will just worry you.

How well does Marina speak English right now?

better than she thinks, but she is worried she does not know it very well, when we met up in moscow, she said she understood me 75%percent of the time, problems with american slang.and we have been chatting online and texting for 8 months before my trip to see her.so she reads it very well, but sometimes she has to google some words on her phone(lol)

In the meantime, get to know each other better and write as much as you can to prepare her for her new life here.

Or use your time wisely and do everything you enjoy doing now that you won't be able to do after her arrival. Also, eat junk food. Lots and lots of junk food. Reflect on how nice it is to sit there and enjoy your greasy, delicious American fare without someone telling you how horrible it is.

I know your tongue is planted at least somewhat firmly in cheek, but if you have to change your lifestyle too dramatically when she arrives, then you're going to have problems. If your idea of a great Friday night is sitting at home watching NASCAR with a bucket of KFC, she needs to know that (and accept it) before she arrives, and you shouldn't feel like you have to change that routine. Nothing should ever be a major surprise. The little surprises are fun though. smile.gif

My wife thought it amazing when she first arrived that there were dead animals all along the side of the road and that there were so many of them! "Why govt. doesn't pay money for someone to clean it up?" She also couldn't believe we had ducks and geese in the parks. "In Russia you never see goose swimming in park. Somebody will be take and eat for dinner. Goose so very delicious. Why American people not do this?"

You might want to let her know too that the birds are probably toxic as hell from eating all the run-off chemicals and ####### they pick up.

no .....no nascar....but football season is a different story.go falcons!!!!!!!.and she knows all that i am into,i actually welcome the change from ####### food(i eat out alot)to good homecooked food.the only real difference is i won't be on call 24/7 to come into work.and my boss knows that once we are married,my on call times will change.
and i am not worried about birds as much as r-a-b-i-e-s.marina tries to make friends with the stinky opossum under the deck,or a seemingly innocent looking raccoon,i am afraid she will learn about 18 shots to the stomache......is it still 18 shots there?

In the meantime, get to know each other better and write as much as you can to prepare her for her new life here.

Mox's comments are right on. The time does seem to be flying along. We Skype regularly, talk on the phone regularly and are doing our part in keeping the text message system working!!

I ask her for any questions she may think of and if I can not describe it over Skype or the phone, I take pictures and send an email with description. For example, over the weekend we discused my house's central air furnance and air conditioning. She was concerned that it would be too windy and noisy like a hotel AC unit. I took pictures of the furnance, the AC, the ductwork, and the registers. "Heat, even in the toilet???" Her apartment is heated by recirculating hot water and of course she doesn't have control of the temperature.

I also have taken photos of the gas station, the bank, the preschool, the food markets, the tollroad, everything, so that she has some visual picture of what she is coming to.

i have been doing the same thing,we are already online with each other every waking minute we can be,and i have been
taking pictures of the area, house, rooms, and such.taking pictures of sockets, and ac controls is a very good though,i will take some more pictures of ac/heat control, washer and dryer, dishwasher, and our power sockets.
marinas newest american obsession is wildlife....espicially raccoons....she lives in moscow, and is completely amazed by raccoons ,skunks, opossums, and and all the wild birds we have here in georgia.
lolololol...she just has to understand they are not friendly....
i live in a house,in the suburbs of atlanta which the surrounding area is being developed,so it is not unusual to see deer clomping down the street,or red tail hawks in the trees.not mention all the road kill on the streets every ten feet.
yummm roadkill pie anyone?

skype 2 days after he left as he was in tears at the thought of never seeing my beautiful face again. booooooooooooooo- i suck. however, i'm sure that in a few weeks he will give me his grandmother's ring in some romantic fashion.

You're story is better than mine. He never asked me. He just said he would marry me "tomorrow if I could." I asked him if that meant he was asking me to marry him and he never really answered. Somehow, I went back and did a formal contract of this limbo. I asked him about this a couple of times since, and he finally asked me to marry him the other day, telling me to please stop asking him for a proposal already. wink.gif He buys me nice flowers though, I figured he was going to make an honest woman out of me someday. he still has never officially given me his phone number. I had that from paperwork. He is holding out on me.

(yes, that is the real story.)

thank you,but starbucks moscow, just isn't that romantic to me,lolololol,i should've picked someplace better, there was a ton of places in that part of moscow but i just went ahead and did it.
