US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionUS consulate in amman jordan

Hi Irahaymeh and Zzerous, welcome
You can find JP (JordanianPrincess) and more of us in the middle east/north africa forum regularly. There are a few of us with experience processing through Amman in there. My husband's interview was there last March so I don't have much first hand to say about current processing times, except that there have been 3 other members in more recent times that got interview dates originally scheduled for 8/23/06, 1/25/07, and 2/27/07 all get moved up to 7/26/06, 8/16/06 and 10/19/06 respectively. December seems a little optimistic...but who knows. Just don't get too discouraged when you do get a date and its really far off in the future.
Come say Hi in the ME/NA room. Its usually a friendly place

Thanks a lot. I will see you in the ME/NA room, if I find it.

Thanks, but how do I access the ME/NA room. All of this is new to me and I dont know how to move around in this site. Any help you can give would be appreciated. My computer skills are extremely limited.
Thanks. Irene Rahaymeh :(

Thanks everyone for your replies. It is promising to hear that some interview dates that were previously scheduled in Amman were moved up. We haven't gotten any interview date as yet but are still praying and optimistic that it will be soon. Please explain to me how to move around in this site and how to get to the ME/NA room??

Thanks again for all your help. I feel somewhat better now and a little more enlightened.

Welcome to VisaJourney. I hope you move quickly thru Amman. But since they have been taking care of Iraq's petitons, they have slowed down to a crawl. Sometimes they move interviews up, but JP is waiting many months for an interview. Maybe she can shed some light on how Amman is sceduling now.

Jackie

Hi Jackie,
Thanks for responding and for your support. What is an AR? all of this is new to me. i'm still trying to figure out how to move around in the VJ website. When it says "on", does this mean i can participate in live conversations? And, how do I contact JP? Again, thanks for your help.

:help:

Has anyone gotten an interview at the embassy in amman recently? I am very frustrated as our case left NVC for Amman Jordan on 8/15/06. I emailed the embassy for an approximate date on when we could expect interview for my husband and they said they are working on July 2007. My heart sank. The I-129 expires December 2006 (what does this mean). Please help with whatever info you can give re how long it might be before he actually gets an interview.

Is it likely that he might be home by December?

Thanks,

I Rahaymeh

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionCouples Who Met Online
I've heard from other VJ members who have finished their journey that Immigration does not frown on couples who meet online. However, they are more concerned when couples were introduced by foreign relatives living in America. It seems that it is normal these days for couples to meet online.

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionNew I-864?
Hi Julianna
I called NVC on this and they said that since there is a penalty of perjury clause on the new I864, no notarization is required.

Wow, I have no clue! I filed the other income coz didn't have to do the I864 coz it wasn't the interview for the I130 in Amman. Maybe you should ask on the I130 boards. Wouldn't it then be standard for all consulates to have this new I864?

Congratulations Maureen and Malek!
Whew! That was a close call and I know your emotions were going wild with all this back and forth with no real answer nor solution. Alhamdullilah! It's over now and your husband is on his way home. OUR INTERVIEW IS IN 3 WEEKS, APRIL 18TH. PLEASE TELL ME, HOW WE CAN AVOID A SIMILAR CONFUSION. DO THEY MAIL THE PASSPORT/VISA BY ARAMEX AFTER THE INTERVIEW? ALSO, I WANT TO BE SURE WE HAVE EVERYTHING IN GOOD ORDER FOR THE INTERVIEW. HOW DID YOUR HUSBAND SUBMIT HIS DOCUMENTS AT THE INTERVIEW? DID HE USE A 3-RING BINDER, OR WHAT METHOD TO MAKE IT QUICK AND EASY? ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE WOULD SINCERELY BE APPRECIATED. MUCH HAPPINESS TO YOU AND YOUR HUSBAND - WISHING THE BEST IN LIFE FOR YOU.....
Irene

just wanted to give everybody a heads up on a situation we just encountered. my husband had interview on March 6, 2007 in Amman and was told up to one week for visa. Well 3 weeks later, no visa. we made several phone calls and emails to embassy and kept being told to call Aramex. Well my husband went directly to embassy today and they never mailed it out!!! well it is all water under the bridge now ( AT LEAST HE GOT HIS VISA TODAY AND COMING HOME NOW!!) but a lesson learned if more than a week goes by and your spouse/fiance has not received their visa yet, go directly to the embassy cuz more than likely it is still sitting on their desk!

US Embassy and Consulate DiscussionJordan's medical exam where did your SO go?
Hi Wendy,
I think he really needs the packet as it has a letter that he has to present when he goes for the medical exam. Also, the packet lists which medical facilities he can choose from. You should continue to email the embassy to get the packet so he will have all the necessary documents for both interviews. Good luck!
Irene

PS: Tawfiq got his green card today in the mail!

In response to my request for Packet 3 information, I received an email from the US Consulate in Dakar Senegal that provided me the details of the forms my fiancée must bring to her interview. I noticed out here on VisaJourney that many consulates require the DS-230, but that is not required by the US Consulate in Dakar Senegal. In fact, there seem to be many slight variations of requirements that the individual consulates have customized to meet their respective local situations. That seems reasonable to me. I also noticed that the old version of the I-134 is required to be notarized, but the new version does not. I sent the new version with all my supporting financial information off to my fiancée before I received the email from the Consulate. The Consulate sent me the old version of the I-134 in the email. In fact, the other forms sent to me (DS-156 and 156K) were all older versions of these forms. So, my question is, are they just not up-to-date on their forms, or can an individual Consulate actually require the applicant to submit a notarized old version of the I-134 as well as other older forms?

local websites/processes do not always updated timely.... The consulates have great discretion in determining there own procedures.... most will accept newer forms even if they have not updated there files... once in a while a report of an outlier is posted

WHATEVER THE CONSULATE GAVE WE USED. DIDN'T WANT ANY PROBLEMS

US Citizenship General DiscussionInvitation Letter
Hey guys!!

I am writing in need of some assistance for a friend of mine who wants to go to Nigeria and visit for the first time. She is not a Nigerian citizen, and is getting her passport ready. My question is that to a apply for a Nigerian Visa it states on the website that a person must have a letter of invitation from a person in that country. I can make one for her, but I need to know an example of how it should like. Also, is it true that you have to show proof of a ticket purchased before submitting information is this true?

Thanks guy,

K-3 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresk3 visa denial
hello everyone!!

Today the friend of my husband who married a Filipina found out that the visa is denied for insufficient proof of income. Her husband is self-employed due to the US economy problem husband show loses on his income tax.

There are so depressed and frustrated. Lorraine told the husband that he can ask for a co-sponsor. If a husband seek for a co-sponsor what happen? How long he need to wait. Are they going to have another interview? pay another application fee? How many months valid the application? sad.gif

after her interview she received the white slip asking for additional financial documents and she submitted already to the US embassy. it took a month before she received a status and the US embassy denied the visa and already sent a letter to the filipina fiancee about the decision.

Wait on your reply.thanks

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometric

It happened to someone who applied in April but their appointment was rescheduled about a month after the original one. I believe the reason they were given was that the FBI was unable to process the fingerprints. They didn't explain to you in the letter why you need to redo biometrics?

In the letter it only stated that my finger print card on file is expired. That's it. I called USCIS today and asked the reason . I talked to 3 different customer rep and they have the same answer like a scripted answer. They cant give you a definite answer. It was all scripted.

My application to removed Residence condition is outside processing time. Now, I received a letter from USCIS to re-take my biometric again. I took my biometric last Jan. 14, 2011 and my another biometric schedule is on July 8, 2011. Does anyone know why?

Does anyone here has the same situation like mine? I'm confused why it taking so long to process my application. I don't received any RFE if they think I need one.

PhilippinesARE U PROUD OF BEING PINOY??
hello ,

I've been in the States for 1 month and 2 days, so far so good!! Life is good with me and my fiancee, and we are getting married this month...So far, never feel homesick, but I started craving filipino foods already heheheh!!! My fiancee and I went to the Buford Hi-way -International market. I'm glad that I found filipino foods there...As in super miss ko na ang fish...Nakakasawa na ang meat at chicken, at grilled. Gusto ko ng sabaw at rice...

I learned and experience a lots of stuff here like TIME IS SUPER GOLD..U can't be late, if u do, text or call the person that ur going to be late so he/she wont pissed off or gone to the meeting place the moment when u get there...

All drinks in restaurants/fastfood chains is unlimited, drink til u drop hehehhehe....

They loved pictures and pets..Pictures everywhere in the house, pictures in the walls, in the fridge, everywhere...

Pets are treated so well. They have their own food ( pets never feed a left over food) not like in the PHIL hehehhe.Pets are lucky here and home owner owns more than 1 pet...( my fiancee own 1 black cat) i hated hehehehhe..

WALMART is very popular store here..Anything u want is there!! Department store here is not like in the PHIL, department store the most thing u can find there is different clothes store/beauty products store & foodcourt. You can't find Moive theathre in department store, it's separated buidling...

You can find a lot of cheapest stuff here in US- ( dont convert to pesos) so u wont get hurt hehehhe..$5 dollar blouse conver to peso is P200- but very good quality here-walang buhol buhol ang damit mo.. Not like in PHIL, mura nga ang daming buhol buhol nman..

If the store is on SALE, sale talga!! You will surprised the regular price to marked down to promo sale- For example, my lotion that I used is bath n body works or victoria secret lotion , the price range in PHIL is 600php and here is $9 but when I bought on sale is $3, see the 6 dollar different....

If u go to supermarket to buy chicken or meat, lahat white meat, no fats, no bones... Frozen food lahat, wala sila nung fresh thing heheh.Lahat nakabalot..Americans never eat fats or bones and very picky when in terms of food like my fiancee hehehhehe

On TV add, most adverstiment here are about insurance, schools, lawyers to assist any of ur problems, and dating websites. All houses have direct tv or cable. There are so many reality tv shows here ( which I really love to watch)...

Roads are wide and spacious. Kids think so matured here and spoiled...They really have a good life and lifestyle because they really work so hard. Many jobs opportunities here in the States but so many bills to pay too.. Cars here is not luxury, its necessity of life. People here works so hard of what they got and deserve it....

Americans personality are sweet , good and nice. They are lovable too. They really express of what they think and feel not like PHIL even mad we try to keep it hehehhe..

I met a lots of friends of my mahal and some of his customers too ( he is self-employed , a marine service business) everybody have the same questions? How do u like the STATES?? Are u culture shocked ? Is it really different? WHat can u say about US?

Well my answer YES I love the states for everything, for what i have seen and experience. I wish that our Phil government have the same government like they do...We, Filipinos are very talented and smart but very limited opportunity in our own country...

WHEN I WAS IN PHIL , my mahal asked me if i am proud to be Filipono?? And I said NO , because of our government.. We are proud that Filipinos all over the world but most are domestic helpers, some are treated so bad with employers and there are so many employers taking advantage and paying a small low income salary...Then our family/relatives/friends think that we are rich if we have foreign bf/fiancee or husband. Not knowing how hard also living a simple life in the US.. When I was younger, I heard about a lot of US and it's a FILIPINO ULTIMATE DREAM> I remembered when u have friends/ neighborhood who had family in the STATES IT MEANS SOCIAL AND THEY ARE RICH, right, but the real life is not...

Some Filipino changed when they got back to he/his country, they think that they are superior, others stay the same, and other change but for the better..

1 peso now in PHIL is nothing, but $1 is still good , u can buy a M&M chocolates, an imported chocolate in PHIL..What can u buy in 1 peso now, one bubot of candies???? Corruption is everywhere. But our country is so worst, and we Filipinos don't deserve like this, thats what I am hoping and praying for my country , a more improve and developed economy for the community and citizens.....

I AM PROUD OF BEING PINOY IN OTHER ASPECTS like Family bonding and even I am a US Citizen soon, my love to my country will stay the same and of course I am proud to become a US CITIZEN soon and God bless America!! God bless Philippines!!!

What about u guys/gals?? Are u still proud of being Pinoy now that u are a US Citizen??? WHAT MAKES U PROUD OF BEING PINOY??
