Middle East and North AfricaWhat happens at airport entry point
Tawfiq will depart Amman next week, May 16th. His plane arrives in Chicago at 5 pm and he has a reservation on American Airlines to depart Chicago for Atlanta at 6:30 pm.

Can anyone tell me how long it will probably take him to go through customs and immigration officer at the airport? And, what happens if he misses his connecting flight to Atlanta?

We've come this far by faith and just want to make sure nothing goes wrong once he's here.

:dance: :dance: :dance: Ok he just called me and said that the interview was so great tehy kept his passport and gave him the paper so that he could go pay for amermex for when they send him his passport back in about 4 days. Well we know thta it will take about a week so Yes my husband will be coming on the CR1 visa. I am so happy and will be even happier once he has it in his hands and can purchase the ticket. :thumbs: :thumbs: :thumbs: OK well I ahve to get up in 3 hours so I hope everyone has a wonderful Tuesday i know mine started out perfect.

I found all of the halal store locations before he came so it would be easy to find the things he likes. We can also get the Mid East satelite from the same merchants that run the halal store. So we'll be getting the arab tv stations soon. He thinks it's so strange to see Animal Hospitals on every corner here.

Very well said! I wholeheartedly agree. VJ has been very supportive and most encouraging for me during the visa process. I don't know how I would have maintained my sanity if it had not been for the support of people like WOM, JP, Jacque, Prena, Wendy, Julianna, Maureen, Angie, Ainfante, Dawn, Angie, Julianb and many other VJ members. The support was outstanding for me! And, the slumber party was awesome - to see so many wellwishing friends stop in the chatroom wishing us well and staying until they could no longer keep their eyes open. WOM stayed with me till I got the call at 2:40 am after Tawfiq's successful interview!

Those who have nothing good to say, should SAY NOTHING AT ALL!

Hope everybody had a wonderful Independence Day. Mine was fabulous as this year we spent our first holiday together. Although I had to work tonight, we spent the whole day together grocery shopping, cooking, enjoying one another. This year is so much better than last year when we were separated, him in Jordan, me here alone. But our life together is wonderful. Hoping and praying that everyone waiting will have a successful interview and speedy reunion. :dance:

My husband has been hear since May 18th and received green card and social security card. Hopefully, he will start teaching will school opens in August inshallah.

I don't understand??? If you never received the packet, what papers were sent by accident? Our interview packet was sent to our attorney here; so I picked it up and sent it by DHL to Tawfiq. And, he had everything needed for interview as the packet includes the interview appointment letter (which is needed to enter the interview). They usually respond to emails within 3 days. Try to email them and tell them his interview is shortly and he never received packet with forms to bring to the itnerview including appt. letter.

Ironically, my husband made the same comments as your hubby re obesity here and family life quality. I'm with you - our plan is to move to Jordan after we retire. You're much younger than us - so no more kids in store for us. :whistle: We're looking forward to retirement in about 8 years inshallah.

For those going through Amman who want to have another timeline idea.. he just got his visa and passport today. Notice the embassy still has not acknowledged my email.. but the issue date is May 2 :) So anyway, he's going to buy a ticket today and put in to quit his job! Yay! I'm still pushing for June 6 as his coming date :)

We were scheduled for a K3 interview on April 18, 2007. We were informed of this date by email in September, 2006 as I set up to get notices through email from USCIS. The packet was sent from the Amman embassy with all the needed documents, i.e., medical, police certificate, etc. In December, we received another email that our I130 had been approved and we received the packet with documents for that interview as well. So, on April 18th, my husband went for his interview and interviewed under the I130 rather than the K3. He arrived here on May 17; received his social security card 3 weeks later, and he received his green card last week. We hired an attorney here in Atlanta, however, like you, I continued to research, prepare and expedite the process myself. And of course, I always received valuable input and and guidance through experienced VJ members. Hope this helps.

Middle East and North AfricaWhy does it seem Egyptians/Arabs don't like dogs , and does anyone have any experience with how your SO adapted to your dog once they came.
My husband told me about the hadith re dogs and that angels will not return to house once a dog has been inside. Yesterday he was taking out the trash and the neighbors dog brushed up against his leg. My husband was so aggravated by this and of course he immediately began the cleaning ritual with a long hot shower. I don't like dogs inside and have no pets so we don't have a problem except with the neighbors' dogs.

The visa journey waiting and immigration process was extremely stressful to say the least (gained more grey hair than I wish to count). I don't think I would want to go through this process again, and I'm hoping that our marriage will last a lifetime inshallah. I'm 59 and my husband 54 so because of our level of seniority and being in second marriages, I'm hoping for the best......
