We used International Express Mail Service (EMS). Basically post office with express mail. It cost about $20 US in South Korea and took about 4 days. Don't forget to also include fiance(e) letter of intent also.

PhilippinesAny tips on Credit?
You can start with a joint credit card application.
Also you can try to get secured credit card for her. I started out with $300 credit limit with Cap One with secured credit. After one year, they sent me to deposited money back and increased credit limit to $500 unsecured.
It's slow process, but got to start somewhere.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports3-5 months??
Hi Everyone!!!

I just was looking at timelines and I have noticed that it is taking about 3-5 months for being who filed after September. Is this correct? Anyone get their NOA2 before 3 months or wayyyyy past 5 months? It is difficult to know because some people are stilling waiting who filed in JUly but there are others who filed in September and even October and just received their NOA2s.

I am not anxious or anything because I want to actually get married this summer and need to finish this semester of law school...but just wanted to get an idea of when to expect a NOA2.

Also, anyone have a recent experience with the Kingston embassy and their interview/processing times.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDECEMBER FILER'S pls.post here....
When I sign into the USCIS site it does not have a last updated date. This is all it says:

Application Type: I129F, PETITION FOR FIANCE(E)

Current Status: Case received and pending.

On December 18, 2007, we received this I129F PETITION FOR FIANCE(E), and mailed you a notice describing how we will process your case. Please follow any instructions on this notice. We will notify you by mail when we make a decision or if we need something from you. If you move while this case is pending, call customer service. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when yours will be done. This case is at our VERMONT SERVICE CENTER location. Follow the link below to check processing dates. You can also receive automatic e-mail updates as we process your case. Just follow the link below to register.

So this means we have not been touched??? Where would it give us a new date? The post before said you usually get touched 2-3 weeks in, it has been a month today...should I be worried?

thanks,

Philippinesreputation

This is very true! I think the folks who are slamming brandon are trying to protect beth, but you have to consider the multitude of facts:

1) This is a second marriage
2) The first one ended badly with him getting scammed
3) She is not from the US
4) This is a long-distance relationship
5) A lot of the communication happens on the Internet (which is "new fangled technology" to alot of older folks)
6) He lives in the South (IMO: this is a good thing, see below)
7) Comes from a traditional family and traditional church who CARE ABOUT HIM & WANT THE BEST FOR HIM

Based on these facts I think a certain level of deliberate consideration on how to introduce her to everyone is warranted. He wants to make sure that she doesn't get mis-labeled with the crimes of his ex, because he RECOGNIZES & REALIZES she is a different person and wants to make sure other recognize this too. Folks need to stop bashing the South because once his community meets Beth and falls in love with her like he has, they will embrace her and call her their own.

Brandon, I read your post where you said you wished you had met Beth first, but I have to disagree with you. It was God's will you met the ex first to teach you something (humility? reliance on Him? love is more important than $$$? I can't begin to guess His intentions, but no doubt there was a reason). Just be happy you met Beth now and love her, cherish her, and give her the respect she deserves. Stay strong and God bless both of you.

I agree with this post wholeheartedly. I am facing somewhat the same situation as Beth and Brandon. Its unfortunate that people will judge the situation(s) before knowing the whole story. While Brandon is trying to protect Beth, he is also mentally covering himself. No one wants to be reminded of the negative trauma that was dished out by the ex. Its bad enough he dealt with it. I know 1st hand (as I am in the South as well) that the judgement garment is worn heavily around here. Some people will never understand your GOOD intentions & that's fine. Look at the heat you're catching from the intial post of this situation, I can only imagine how shot your feelings and emotions would be if it were from family and friends whom you think should be supporting you instead of bashing you. Brandon, as long as your intentions are GOOD, continue to explain and reassure your wife of those GOOD intentions. Other than the stress of going through this whole process, you guys certainly don't need other distractions or tension.

That's very encouraging....if only they can iron out that Delbros DV delays....hmmmm.

Hi, I'm just starting to fill out the I-129F, so early in this whole process, but what are Delbros DV delays?

Jim
I'm not sure, but as I look at several timelines I am not seeing such a delay. As I said before the process is very frustrating and there seems to be a lack of information or misinformation about getting from A to Z. I am midway through the process (I129F was just approved) so I can't say first hand how long the entire process will take.
Based on what I've read you can pay the document verification fee prior to the interview (actually you are encouraged to do so). My fiancee will most likely inteview the week of August 25th and we'll pay the DV fee about 3 weeks before the interview. One thing that is unclear to me is who do you pay to actually deliver the visa? It's implied that Delbros is also the courier, but I don't know that for certain. If so does the DV fee cover the courier fee as well?

PhilippinesCongrats to the Philippines Embassy on K1 processing time
Our 129F was approved by USCIS on July 11th. First of all I want to say that this process is a lot harder than it should be... it's like an easter egg hunt from hell trying to get all of the information you need!!!! Now that we've passed the first hurdle (USCIS) I know that the the National Visa Center is next and judging by what I've read it's a short stop. My question to all of you is exactly what is the document verification? What documents are verified and who verifies them? I want to get my fiancee (from the Philippines) to the USA as quickly as possible and to do so I am trying to be proactive. I know that she has to prepare a 156, 156K and 157, get the NBI clearance, police clearance, medical exam and finally the interview but I am a little in the dark on document verification.

Any helpful info?

You can schedule the interview exactly 2 weeks after you are assigned the case number from NVC (number starts with "MNL"). In the meantime you can go ahead and knock out the medical, which has to be at least a week before the interview anyways (so the results get to the USEM in time).

Give yourself 2 days for the medical and 2 days for the interview (if you haven't already attended the CFO seminar, which is offered in Manila & Cebu). From what I've read the Manila CFO seminar takes 2 hours & the Cebu seminar takes all day!

Do you think I can have the medical even without the email confirmation of interview sched from the USE? I only have with me the letter from NVC.
I am pretty sure you can get the medical with the NVC case number but I would call Saint Lukes hospital in Manila and confirm that. I wish I could give you a definite answer but I can't (my fiancee is getting her medical done this week). Good luck and if I get more info after this week I will let you know!

PhilippinesCFO seminar in Manila
My fiancee is going to get her medical done on August 14th and if she has time she will go to the CFO seminar on the 15th. Her interview is August 26th and my question is will she have to go back to the CFO office after getting her visa (which I assume will be in hand in early September)? I've read that they place a sticker on the visa (which she won't have obviously) and I've also read that they place the sticker on her passport. Which info is correct?

Thanks!

PhilippinesWHY HAS LIFE BEEN PUT ON HOLD
John I can completely relate with what you are going through because my fiancee and I have also had some very frustrating setbacks. Even though you are still in a relationship what you are feeling sucks as much as if the relationship had ended. You feel helpless, angry and like you said depressed. There are no easy answers or quick fixes, but if you truly love her you keep fighting as long as there is hope.

I was expecting my fiancee to arrive in September, but an abnormality showed up on her X-ray during the medical exam and she had to go back for a Sputum test. The results of the test will not be know for 8 weeks, so best case we are looking at November now. If this was our first delay it would be difficult, but since it's our 3rd delay it's almost unbearable. I would be lying to you if I said that these delays haven't strained our relationship but they have (each delay is harder to overcome than the previous one).

I did a year in Iraq (2005-2006) and that was the worst year of my life, but this process has made the last year a very close second. I made it through Iraq and I will make it through this, but if I were king for a day I'd make some drastic changes to this process and put a whole bunch of people in the unemployment line.

PhilippinesSt lukes is a joke and ongoing medical crap
I feel your pain... my fiancee had to go back for a Sputum test because of a spot on her chest X-ray (they are worried about TB). The crappy part is that the Sputum test results take 8 weeks, so we're in a holding pattern until late October (she would have interviewed August 26th if it weren't for this delay). She has absolutely no symptoms of TB so it's probably a bunch of BS, but we're at the mercy of these quacks.

Overall this is the 4th delay we've faced (all for different reasons)... my fiancee should have been in the USA a long time ago. I'd love to have 5 minutes alone with the morons involved in this process... I'd give all of them some wall to wall counseling!

PhilippinesWaiting for my Culture Result
I'm confused... did you take the Sputum test and come up hot for TB? My fiancee had to take the Sputum test & we're waiting the 8 weeks for the results (the end of 8 weeks = October 17th). We have had so many delays due to BS & I am at the end of my rope with these A-holes. I love my fiancee but honestly I can't take yet another delay (especially another 6 months).

lol Yea you got my attention, but it's all good! You can have minor victories against this awful system, but you have to understand it first & I know I've become an expert the hard way. For example we submitted our first application back in Dec '07 & it was kicked back in April '08 because I made a mistake filling out the paperwork. Technically USCIS was correct in what they did, but they had the information in December & sat on it for 4 months & that's the part that really p's me off.

Anyways we re-submitted, but the second time I requested an expedite and it was approved (I am military and work in homeland defense... basically my reasoning in the expedite request was that I work in a critical area & it's not a good thing for me to be distracted with a long, drawn out K1 process while I help defend our country). So the packet gets pushed through in 44 days (instead of the usual 4-5 months) & we've essentially got back 3 of the 5 months we lost (4 months of my packet sitting in a pile + 1 month to get a 2nd packet ready). My fiancee goes to the medical & she's referred for a Sputum test... another 2 month delay!!! I know USCIS and St Lukes are entirely separate but I swear it feels like these clowns really want us to suffer as much as possible during this ordeal. I can also say that my expedite justification has been tested because I've taken some personal time here & there because this horrible process has gotten to me at times.

Like others have said these forums are kind of like therapy... a place to vent. Although at the end of the day I'm still halfway across the world from my fiancee (and she should have been here already, for all intents & purposes) sharing my experiences here & reading about other people's struggles lets me know we're all in the same leaky, crowded and often rudderless boat.

We are all subjects to the powers that be and in our current situation - USEM. I was told at the USEC that this is a strict requirement by the USEM. I was told further that were applicants in the past who came out negative on smear tests but positive on the culture. But, if the smear tests are negative there is a high negativity result for the culture as well, so, this is one reason to be positive and happy about this part of the medical test smile.gif . We just dont have a choice but to follow the rule. I would like to believe that there is wisdom in doing this tho our smear tests came out negative of TB. My culture results will be available by October 15th. It is my 4th week of waiting this week and so far no calls from the USEC. I think you are right about that, if there are no USEC calls within the culture period, there shouldn't be a problem yes.gif . Just take it one step at a time and like you, counting the days...he he.... Everything will work out soon enough. After that, one more hurdle - interview at the USEM...whew!! wow.gif

Finally, it is better to have everything checked here in our homeland rather than being checked at the POE and be whisked back, you know what i mean? This is just a thought but come to think of it, it would be a very emotionally devastating expereince which we should avoid. In the meantime, a friend mentioned to me, "enjoy the precious time you have with your family and close friends until that most awaited special time." yes.gif As always, God bless us all.
I wish you luck but I'm sorry I'm not a religious person & I don't think God has anything to do with the BS we all deal with during this awful process. I've noticed that a lot of people on this forum are religious and I respect that. If it helps them cope with the situation then all the power to them, but I have a much more practical view of the ordeal we all face... that we are victims of a very flawed system.

I know it doesn't help, but several of us are in the same boat... in my case our 8 weeks ends October 17th. It's torture waiting and this adds insult to injury to an already long process, but most likely the result will be negative and she'll interview soon. Good luck!

Hi,

When do they require the sputum test? Do they only require it for those who have scars on xray? Or is it cumpulsory now? What about the skin test?

I imagine everyone does the skin test. As for the sputum it's only done if there is some sort of abnormality. The results take 2 months so if everyone did it it would make the long (K1/K3) process even longer for everyone.
