I love how the right wingers said nothing while the Bush administration wrecked this country over the past 8 years, but there are numerous Obama hating threads & the guy isn't even in office yet. You tards are your own worst enemy... spew hate and ignorance, spread half-truths, rhetoric and lies, take responsibility for absolutely nothing & blame the democrats for everything.
wow.gif

and vice versa...

Thats total BS... count the Bush hating threads & count the Obama hating threads... not even remotely close. Whats worse is that Bush DID screw things up & Obama isn't even in office yet. Ridiculous to say its the same.

pardon, but I was just making the point it happens on both sides. to me, a prerequisite to being a Politician is to be full of BS, speak half truths and blame the other side. name calling also goes on from both sides. you clearly proved that... whistling.gif

You are clueless... your reply "proves" that. If both sides were equally guilty I would agree with you, but it's not even close. no0pb.gif

there's plenty of blame to spread around, and both sides deserve it. it wasn't just the republicans in congress giving bush a blank check........

The Dems certainly played a part, but the Republicans should take the lions share of the blame. The Dems didn't have enough votes to override a Bush veto & Bush truly believed that the Legislative Branch was there to pass his bills without question, so whenever they challenged him the Bush cronies called them all sorts of names (unpatriotic being the primary label).

The system is designed to promote compromise between the parties, which would hopefully result in decisions that benefit the greatest number of people, but with the Bush administration you were "either with him or against him" (Bush actually said this). To add insult to injury the Republicans have (as I said earlier) engaged in rhetoric & misinformation over the past 8 years while taking no responsibility whatsoever for anything. It's insulting to say that the blame is equal, because it absolutely isn't.

Going forward there are some encouraging signs, not the least of which is the fact that Bush is leaving. To his credit he has conducted himself in a dignified manner during the transition; it's too bad President Bush didn't act this way during the previous 8 years.

Well you obviously don't see what goes on here... everything I said about the right wingers is 100% true. I don't "pretend" that the democrats are "the greatest thing since sliced bread" either (I'm an Independent actually). Take a look at some of their posts & you might change your tune.

Oh I'm sorry! So much to translate but to sum up all... we all missed our country. There are just a lot of things that has in the Philippines that you can't have it here in the US. You might want to buy lots of lotion and moisturizer for her. Be ready of your rice cooker and filipino stuff for her. Prepare things for her that would help her not to miss so much of her family. Find some filipino store that you guys can visit. Maybe a visit back in Philippines as soon as she has her GC. Just stuff like that. Above all be ready of her homesickness. Be sure to understand her.

That's all and maybe some other can give more ideas to him please. I am having my nosebleed now.

Thank you! Yes I have a rice cooker & there are some areas near Atlanta that cater to certain Asian populations for buying food, restuarants, etc. I will also order some Filipino channels for DirecTV. I will also look for Filipino social groups in the area (there has to be some).

PhilippinesHawaiian Airlines
QUOTE (DEDixon @ Dec 29 2008, 03:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Really appreciate the tip.

I really like Philippine Airlines, because of the schedule from the west coast. I love leaving at 10PM and arriving around 5AM. Flying when you are about to get sleepy is so much better than flying after a night of sleep. I often sleep the entire flight and I'm very rested upon arrival.

If cheap is what people want, maybe Hawaiian is the way to go. If schedule is of importance, PAL from the west coast is so convenient.

My fiancee flew Hawaiian Airlines and it was about $500 cheaper than Philippine Airlines (Manila to San Francisco). I originally booked her on Philippine Airlines, but they canceled the flight less than 24 hours before take off! This might be an isolated incident, but I am very displeased with Philippine Airlines because of this ordeal. I'm still fighting with them to get a refund as well (a month and a half later).

Two things, look up polyamorous.

Second, the reason the couple (which is extraordinairy to begin with) is still together probably isn't because they guy loves the girl but because he doesn't love himself. I gaurentee both have a history of heavy abuse as children.

The story was longer than it needed to be but I'm guessing both the woman & the man have low self esteem. Not to go Dr. Phil but from what I understand women who are very promiscuous either had a bad relationship with their father or perhaps were even sexually abused & the guy probably grew up in a dysfunctional environment as well.

I could see getting busted for possession of crack or distribution of drugs as reasons to deny a visa, but taking a bong hit? ####### is with the moral majority in the USA? Whatever you, I, or my buddies think has absolutely no relevance in immigration law. Drug use is grounds for inadmissibility and in some cases permanent ban. We don't have to like it, it is what it is. Maybe people should think twice before doing drugs, don't you think?

I fully understand that my opinions posted on a forum don't really mean anything, but at the same time the hypocrisy & self-right righteousness of this law is mind boggling.

My fiancee was forced to do a sputum test as well (October 17th is the end of the 8 weeks). Secondly once the results are known how long (typically) does it take to get the interview? We have been waiting so long to be together... I won't burn bridges in the USA (love my country), but I can live like a king in the Philippines on a military retirement. One thing I will have to check into is how Tricare (health insurance) would work.

There is a yahoo group called livinginthephilippines with a lot of good information in it, including about how tricare works there. Bottom line on healthcare is don't think about it unless you are healthy.

In my opinion it's a bad idea to think about living there just for the economic benefits. Be sure in advance that you love the people and the culture. The Philippines has a lot of rough edges that drive many Americans crazy. It's also tough if you don't have the support of a local family including the extended family of sponsors and friends. Things get done through relationships. If you are single a very careful choice of a filipina mate and her family will make all the difference.

Good points, but the cost of living is only one of many reasons I'm seriously considering retiring in the Philippines (my wife is filipino & of course that is a big part of the equation). I do love the culture, food, climate, etc. & being in the military has exposed me to many different cultures so the culture shock will be relatively minimal.

PhilippinesWhat is this CFO seminar I am hearing about
QUOTE (RubeeRed @ May 19 2009, 02:22 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Thanks for your fast replies...both very helpful information. I actually looked at the CFO website that one of you had provided and I saw that the original visa is required for registration. My fiance hasnt received his visa yet, still waiting, but I was wondering, is the visa itself already included on the passport as a stamp? or is it a piece of paper? I know probably a stupid question but I am not sure. I was hoping maybe just a photocopy of the visa was ok. I have to call my fiance in the morning to now prepare the documents needed for the CFO.

Not a dumb question... many filipinos (my wife included) go to the seminar w/o the visa. If you have the visa they will stamp it right after the seminar has been completed. If you do not have the visa you will have to go back to the CFO location later to get the stamp (my wife did it this way). Basically I flew my wife into Manila a day before her trip to the USA to get the CFO stamp on her visa. I hope I didn't confuse you!

I just thought once my fiance would pass his interview, that he could just get his plane ticket and fly to the US. Would my fiance have to pay for this seminar? Does he have to call to make arrangements? I was curious how so many people know to do this after they have passed his/her interview...word of mouth or does the embassy tell you that you have to do this?

Please, any input about this would be very helpful and appreciated.

Its an orientation to let the fiancee know what to expect & yes its a requirement for filipinos. Its only a couple of hours long & the only two locations I am aware of are Cebu & Manila. For more details go to:

If I were you, I would not listen to a couple of disgruntled Bayview Park customers and their gripes. These clowns are lifeless loners and do not know what they are talking about. We have stayed at Bayview and it is a very fine establishment. good.gif

Yes you have to take TripAdvisor reviews with a grain of salt. If 100 people stay at a hotel & 10 had a bad experience then probably 9/10 of them will make a comment, while maybe 5/90 that had a good experience will comment (its human nature).

PhilippinesWhat is the nicest (not cheapest) hotel near the US Embassy??
QUOTE (Matt & Bing @ Jun 5 2009, 12:07 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I've seen a lot of posts about the cheapest but what is the nicest hotel within walking distance of the US Embassy? And what is the best nearby restaurant for dinner?

Thanks for any replies.

I think there should be a new subforum dedicated to all topics regarding international dating sites. Then the foreign spouses can duke it out over which ones make better picks.

Would it include mud or jello wrestling?

A lot of cross-cultural bashing going on in this thread... how about we agree that its different strokes for different folks? If you have a filipino spouse & you are very happy that's great. If your spouse is from another country & you are happy that's great too. There's no need to compare the two like a couple of 3rd graders comparing toys during recess.

I don't think any of us are doing that. The post above is a joke. There are plenty of places, including the PI, where women tend to look past the superficial. Look at the original post about fat ugly guys. laughing.gif

I disagree; some people were serious & got their panties in a bunch. However the stereotype of Filipinos marrying fat and/or old men has truth to it... like all stereotypes it is a generalization & perhaps an exaggeration, but its based in fact. I'm sure it happens in marriages between other countries as well, so it certainly isn't just a Filipino thing.

I'm not FAT and old wheres the truth in that? your just a stereotypest!

The truth hurts... maybe not as much as jumping on a bicycle with the seat missing, but it hurts!

Brad and Vika, I like you. Among the foreigners who have shared their opinions, anger, etc. in this post, I think you're one of the open-minded ones and not judgmental about us filipinas.

I think it just goes to show that all of us take pride of ourselves and where we came from. And none of us will allow just anyone to insult us.

Nowhereman, I agree with you but i think it's just so unfair that only filipinas are being criticized for that when in fact it's happening in the whole world. Why if a filipina marry an "ugly, fat, old man" (as others put it), it's bad, but if other nationalities do it, it's acceptable? Also, I think it's so shallow that people are judging others because they married someone much older or some "ugly, fat man". It's none of our business. It's their lives, their choices...If they are happy, let it be.

For the record, I'm not marrying an "ugly, fat, old man". In fact, I'm even a year older than my fiance and he's not ugly. But I just want other people to realize that their being so judgmental about us filipinas is not cool at all.

To foreigners claiming that their filipina wives are the best, I agree because I'm also a filipina and it's flattering to know that foreigners do appreciate filipina wives. To those who disagree that filipinas are the best wives, that's cool. We are entitled to our own opinions and I respect yours as well so I hope you will also respect ours. No need to insult our race.

I just have one word that I think all of should learn. That is RESPECT. Let's respect each other's opinions and choices and preferences. And also, stop being judgmental for goodness sake!

Goodluck to all of us in our visa journey!!! smile.gif

Thank you for your input... we agree on this topic for the most part. As I stated in a previous post my Filipino wife and I joked with each other during my 2 trips to the Philippines when we saw a young, pretty Filipino with a guy twice her age and/or 3 times her weight. Like I also said if they are happy then that's all that matters... and yes of course you see these types of couples with women (and men) from other countries as well.
