So does anyone know when they schedule interviews? I think I read somewhere that they only schedule them on the second weekend of the month?

Hi Peter'n Jaime,

Looks like our timelines are very similar.
Good luck and stay in touch. good.gif

Wow you weren't Kidding!! We sent a few days apart and where approved within a few days. Even on same step at NVC!! Good luck to you!

Looks like mine is similar to yall's timelines as well. Hopefully all our cases gets approved soon. Can't wait for my wife to get here.

BTW, I am asking my wife to take the medical exam now, so I can talk to the consulate in Bangladesh when her case gets approved in order to see if there is anyway for them to give her an earlier appointment date.

I received this email from NVC, regarding to my choice of agent that I emailed to them. Is this mean they accept my Choice of agent already?
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Good Afternoon,

Your inquiry has been received at the National Visa Center (NVC).

The NVC has received the Agent of Choice selection. The Immigrant Visa
Application (DS 230) processing fee bill will be sent to the designated
agent on the case. The fee must be paid according to the instructions
before the instruction packet will be sent.
---------------------------------------------------------------------

Also one more question, we paid AOS fee bill online yesterday, today IV fee bill seems to be able to pay online as well, should we pay it now or wait until AVR say that our IV fee bill is already generate? I talked to an operator, she said that they just finished reviewing our choice of agent today, she also said that IV fee bill will be sent out within a week or two.

Yes they accepted your DS3032 and that is why you have IV fee bill payable online. You can pay it now. Mine was payable yesterday (when I paid it) but their message just said that they received DS3032, but today my message said that IV fee was generated on Jan 21st (yesterday). So I'm sure it is safe to pay it online.

Hi Shimool,

Your AOS has been generated already, that was why you could pay online. You will have to print the BARCODED Cover Sheet from web that you paid the bill and attach it with AOS packet. You can actually send AOS packet to them now but some people they wait until they pay for IV fee bill (DS-230) first so that they can send both AOS and DS-230 together.

You can check with the operator if NVC get your DS3032 yet and has it been accepted, if they accept it already then they will generate IV fee bill and you will be able to pay it online.

Thanks for your reply Mommy. I am going to send out my AOS tomorrow. biggrin.gif

Hello fellas, I am new to this awesome site. Just found this site yesterday. My case was recently forwarded to NVC. I just mailed out my DS3032 and already paid my AOS fee online and it shows paid. I mailed out the paid AOS receipt and DS3032 on friday. Do you think I should also send an email of the DS3032?

I have my AOS and DS230 ready. As my case already shows AOS paid, should I send out the AOS, or wait for them to generate an AOS?

Thanks for help guys.

Hiyaaa congrats!

Sounds like you had a smooth ride.
However I may need your help. I just paid the AOS fee to NVC. Also my hubby just emailed the 3032.
Whats next to send to NVC?
Also with the I-864, tax info, job letter, birth certs, marriage lic, copy of passports,
anything else is missing? Also, what ORIGINAL docs will be needed?

I appreciate your help!
Maleena

Once your AOS fee shows paid, you send in your I-864 with W2 and tax returns and cover letter.
After your 3032 is accepted IV fee will be generated and after that shows paid you need to send in DS230, original birth cert, police cert, marriage cert, benificiary's pic and cover letter I believe.

Thanks to everyone else for the congrats

Good Luck.. Keep in touch...

Hey Sonia, she was the first one to get a visa, so we don't know how many were interviewed after her. I don't think you need to take so many pics. They like to keep the interview short and I told her to take just a couple pics from each events - mainly the family pics

Thanks everyone

I know of a couple of my relatives, who had an arranged marriage - basically they didn't know each other beforehand, were delayed. They received an AP slip and had to wait for a few more months. I guess when it is arranged they need to do additional background checks to make sure the marriage is not for the reasons of entry to the states.

Hi fellas,

First and foremost I gotta thank each and everyone of you guys. If it weren't for VJ and it's members, right now my case would still be at NVC. I used the shortcuts and it saves so much time. Thanks for all the support and advice everyone.

Now I'll tell you guys about my wife's interview. My wife had her visa interview on the 9th of March in Dhaka, Bangladesh. She went to the Embassy at 7am, when her visa was scheduled for 8am. As they let her in, my wife was the 9th person in line. They checked her appointment letter and passport and then she went through security checkpoint and they didn't allow a cell phone inside or to be kept at their lockers. She went inside, and within 10 minutes she was called and was asked for her actual passport, medical report, 2 photos, appointment letter, birth certificate, marriage certificate and police certificate photocopies (originals were already submitted to NVC). They gave her back her original birth certificate and pcc and 20 mins later she was called again for fingerprints. At 9:30 she was called again at a window and it was time for her interview. She had no idea this was the actual interview, because she thought it would be in a room. This was a huge advantage for us, because if she knew it was the actual interview, she'd have been really nervous. The consular asked her the following questions:
Petitioner's name?
How long have you know the petitioner?
Love or arranged marriage? - from what I've heard, the answer to this question makes quite a difference
Marriage date?
How many people attended? and asked to see some pictures
Asked a few more general questions and then said your visa is approved. biggrin.gif:D:D
My wife was so shocked and teary eyed and happy that the consular was joking that she can play some music for my wife to dance to. Then she gave her a receipt for her passport to be picked up the next day and that's the end of it. She didn't need any other pictures or any other paperwork.

It was a very painless and fast procedure. It took her a total of only an hour and 30 mins inside the embassy. We are so so happy now. She'll be here next week and finally, FINALLY we can live our dreams.

Once again, thanks everyone

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresBonafide Marriage ???
Hi,

I've read many of the post on bonafide marriage but I would like some advice on my situation.

My husband and I attended school together but only dated during my senior year in school. I then moved to the US in 96 and had no contact with him. Any information, I received about him was through my cousin. However, I went home for Carnival in February and we reconnected and got married in June 2011.

We have no other information to prove our marriage except marriage certificate and the 2 affidavits from my cousin and his brother in reference to our marriage and that's all I sent in with my I-130 packet.

We've basically been in touch with each other thru text and phone. I have not been back to see my husband since our marriage because of my daughter's schooling and finding new employment because the company I worked for lost their contract.

I started a new job in January and don't have vacation as yet.

My questions:

Will this hamper us getting approved since I've not visited him?
Do I need to get a Joint account ?
Will phone records and wedding photos be enough?

Any additional information or advice will be appreciated.

Thanks!

Another thing I know that some vaccines are recommended for kids and some for adults, I am an adult. Thanks

Questions:
How often does someone have to take those vaccines if they've taken them already? Are they a one time thing?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Proceduresadding my spouse to my health plan

Hello, All:

My marriage took place in Jan. 2010. My husband entered the US on 02.14.2012. My employer would not add my husband in 2010 because he was not in the US even though my premium would not change. Now that my husband's here, my immdeiate boss told me that I missed the qualifying event to add him as you need to add him within thirty days of the marriage. I have another person in HR that submitted the paperwork to my insurance plan. My insurance plan is pushing it through, but now my immediate boss and the other person in HR at a road block. Should he be added to my health plan or do I need to remarry him in the US or wait for open enrollment? My immediate boss also indicated that if they do add him after the qualifying event deadline that they will have to do it for everyone. I feel lost and kin of upset because I know he can be added if my boss was to ssupport it.

From my understandng, you cannot legally "remarry" your spouse in the US as your marriage should already be legal and valid. Can't you just wait until the re-enrollment process comes along again & then add him to your insurance then after submitting the proper paperwork? Maybe obtain the health insurance information and contact the organization yourself for clarity. If you were told you could not add your spouse during the correct enrollment time due to his living residence and status not being "resident" or "citizen" of the US, maybe they have some provisions in place to assist such matters that neither the HR representative or your boss is aware of. I really hope this helps, but "remarrying" your already spouse is definitely NOT a solution to this.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSeeking advise for IR-1/Cr-1 processing

In our culture arrange marriage is very common. But since I left for USA, we have phone record that can proof that we talk atleast 2 calls thru skype or phone everyday(every single day) for few hours. She live with my parent now. After reading some other post another flag could be agre difference, we do have age difference of 11 years. But thats common in our culture too. My parent, inlaws, sister in law has similar age difference between them and their spouse. I know there is some kind of red flag in my case, not sure which one, but I am optimistic that everything will be fine since I havent broke any law. But it's heart breaking for both of us that it going to take another 10+ months (uscis+nvc+embassy) after waiting for 7 months.

OP your current status for processing is based on the many red flags you have listed. Somehow, you are still not recognizing YOUR own red flags. Yes, arranged marriages are common in your culture. Age difference is also common in your culture. Unfortunately, what is common in your culture is also common in fraud. As others have stated "arranged" marriages can also mean "paid" marriages just for opportunity purposes to arrive in America. You arrived in America via immigration purposes. Even though your marriage was authentic, USCIS want to also make sure your NEW marriage is authentic as well. Think of it as being "common in American culture". The background checks and waiting is not to convict you of being guilty for breaking the or any law. However, laws are in place to deter people who might.

Well, we both want to finish school. So it wasn't a complete lie that he wanted to be a student. But, the main reason was for him to be close to me. Would this be an issue? I just hope and pray that noone asks. Thanks everyone! Good luck to all!

No matter whats asked of you two, just be honest. I know you would much rather a "delay" in your spouse's arrival than an actual ban from the US. Please take everyone's advice here seriously about honesty......its really the BEST policy.

Apprciate everyone comments. I will apply for umemployment benefit while find a new job.

Anyone know how long it takes from NOA1 to NVC process. As I am planing go to community college learn new skill.

Appreciate.

Yes and while looking for a job, try to see if you can obtain a position that exceeds the income requirement & therefore a co-sponsor may not be needed. As far as the timeframe it takes from NOA1 to NVC process, everyone's situation varies. You can review others timelines on here (maybe in your country, preferrably) to get an idea of your wait time. I've seen some on here that wait from 3 months to years........just pray that by the time you are ready to provide financial support information, that you are ready and prepared. Good luck with everything!! :)

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresApply for umembployment benefit will affect I-130?

Yes, you can count unemployment income to meet poverty guidelines.

I submitted a letter from my employer and 6 month pay stubs to prove that I currently have my job. I would suggest to have a co-sponsor ready.

I have only been here for a while, but have not heard anyone currently on unemployment income filed i864 and was successful.

Can't the tax transcripts be submitted, a employment verification letter (once employment is obtained that exceeds the 125% restriction), and pay stubs (say last 3, if applicable, depending on how the timeline falls) to prove the OP is capable of sponsoring the beneficiary without a co-sponsor? I didnt think a co-sponsor was still necessary if one could prove his/her capacity to financially sponsor one's spouse/fiance.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresGaps in employment for Affidavit of Support

Anyone out there that can shade some light on this issue for me (maybe its a none issue). Okay i am a very Experience QA Analyst for over 10 years. In July 2008 I resigned from my job of over 13 years to be closer to my daughter and grandkids. My daughter just had twins and already had two toddlers. So I had planned to take some time away from work and be a stay at home grandma caregiver. Than as you know the economy about fall 2008 went south also with my 401K I was planning on living on for a spell. Anyway this is my work history.

1. 2008 worked 7 months made $32,584
2. 2009 worked 7 weeks and also collected unemployment made $19,330
3. 2010 worked 7 months (2 jobs) made $38,570
4. 2011 was living with husband in Nigeria half the year didn't work. collected unemployment collected $4150

Now the bright spot is i have been job offered and I start my new job July 9th. Lets just say I about 3 times the poverty level. As you can see I have the ability to work and get good paying jobs so does anyone see an issue with 2011. And with my new employment well being so new and it is a contracting job that;s renewable after 6 months. A co-sponsor is not an option.

So what you think? A letter of explanation for why no work in 2011. Will they be concerned with me not having worked a solid year since 2007. I do have my 2008 tax transcript I ordered because I did want to show them I do and can make good money. Thanks for reading.

Did you file your taxes for 2011? I believe they are mainly concerned about the aspect of filing and reporting income for the following years, not necessarily if you are capable of having solid income potential. I think a letter explaining the employment situation (for 2011) and living abroad would be sufficient enough, along with a 2011 tax transcript. HOWEVER, still submit copies of your current employment pay stubs once they are obtained and obtain an employment verification letter from the employer.

no, i didn't get visa issued...infact i had interview for the visa approval....I'll tell u what happened....i married an american citizen. she processed my papers for CR - 1. as soon as all the documentation was complete and interview fee was paid, i got call for interview. Wehn i went for interview, they said that i'll have to wait for 6 weeks for AP(administrative processing) and during that time, my wife cancelled everything, saying that we are getting separated...

How are you certain she cancelled everything since you guys were on administrative processing? Did you receive notification that your visa application was no longer pending? Verify that she took the complete steps to "cancel" the process before you guys start all the way back over. Not exactly sure but maybe your case can be re-evaluated since you were under further processing (administrative processing)anyway. How long ago was this? Has the 6 week timeframe already passed?

How long ago did she "cancel" the application......if you guys never received the NOA2 (approval) for the petition, then you may have to start over, as in filing everything all over again. Familiarize yourself with this guide, if that is the case http://www.visajourn...tent/i130guide1

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresWhat do i do after the cr1 visa is approved?

The soonest an LPR can file to remove conditions on residency is 90 days prior to the expiration of the green card. The application still has to be processed and like all other things involved with US immigration, there is some wait time.

Ryan,

Thank you. I was confused, thinking that the removal had to be completed 90 days after receiving the permanent green card.

She will receive a conditional 2-year green card in the mail, within a month from her POE. She can file for removal of conditions 90 days before it expires, and she will receive a 10-year green card then.

Wait......you can remove conditons on a 2 year conditional green card in 90 days and NOT after 2 years?  I thought there had to be that wait time of 2 YEARS. Wow! Where would I be without VisaJourney? :bonk: :bonk: :bonk:

Hello all - n00b here.

I am curious about this; I notice many of you got your Noa1 and 2'd very fast, like weeks after filing the I-129f. I filed mine on July 19 and just received my "notice of delivery receipt" dated July 30. How did you all get so lucky?
Well first of all some service centers seem faster than others (e.g. the Vermont Service Center seems to be faster than the rest). Secondly of course each case is different so it's hard to compare one case to another. For example I got an expedite based on National Interest/ Military Service, but most filers are not eligible for an expedite. All I can say is be very, very, very careful when you fill out the paperwork (I am absolutely convinced that USCIS looks for reasons to kick back a petition) & be a pain in their butt after you send the I129F and supporting documents.

I know I probably didn't make you feel any better (sorry), but I hope I gave you the "ground truth".

Middle East and North AfricaFrom The Iraq War, A Troubled Romance In America
I don't think you can draw any conclusions whatsoever from this story as it relates to marrying an Iraqi. I served in Iraq in 2005-2006 & worked very closely with interpreters. I knew some Iraqi women that I'm sure would make great wives & mothers for an American if they happened to fall in love. The real obstacle would be religion, because according to a strict Muslim they can only marry another Muslim.

This story could have been about two young, married rednecks in West Virginia who lacked parenting & decision making skills. It has almost nothing to do with cross-cultural marriages.

Moctar, in reference to your answer, I don't think all Africans commit fraud and I am not going through anything.

You asked for assistance about your AP case and what it could possibly mean and I explained it to you.

I can't help it if your case sounds like fraud to me. Honestly, each time you post something, it goes closer and closer to that, but who am I.

Anyway, it seems like you want the good news and nothing but that. I can only give you the facts based on the info you have provided.

I understand you simply want your wife with you and probably could care less about anything else. That is to be expected.

But, based on everything you have said in your previous messages, it looks suspect. You can't see it because you are in the case and not looking from the outside.

You mentioned the Affidavit of Support on my timeline.

I found out later on that the AP staff was using that as a stalling tactic and just didn't tell me. They might use anything to delay. The delay is to investigate more into the marriage and the intending immigrant...also to cause the immigrant to just abandon the case.

By the way, the reason I didn't mention fraud in previous postings was because I didn't listen to the good folks on here (VJ) who told me also that my case looked suspect and also could be fraud. Basically I was on the inside looking out at everyone else....same as you are doing right now.

After the fact, I studied up, interviewed immigration officials, etc and know more about immigration than most attorney's.

I wasn't trying to convince you that your marriage was a fraud, I simply said that the information that you gave to us sounds very much like what happens to those who are eventually found to be in fraud marriages.

I answered your question to help you understand the process in Dakar, not to break up any marriage.

Good luck.

By the way, what custom says not to speak about previous spouses? I'm assuming you are Muslim based on Mauritania being an Islamic country. I am Muslim also and their is no Islamic custom that says that. Actually your supposed to inquire about character and previous spouses and family to know what type of person and family you are marrying. I've traveled all over the African continent and various other places and learned about (and lived with) a great many cultures. What you said doesn't sound plausible. That is a red flag to an interviewer and also why you could be in review. Most women who marry usually want to know about previous marriages of a man. Women like to know all sorts of details that men rarely care about. If she doesn't know the ex's name, that is weird. I still know the ex's names of every past person I ever dated as I'm sure that most women would know also.

Moctar, you have asked this before.
Please do not double post. Simply write again in your own original thread.
It will come up as active again for all to see.

By the way, in reference to your question (that I answered before also), it took almost another 6 months to be approved. That only happened because I personally went to Dakar to see what was going on (happened to speak to the interviewer, but didn't know it at the time). Flew back to my home for a business appointment then flew back to Dakar for the real interview 3 days later.

Also, at the time I was also in the process of completing background checks to work for USCIS (had applied the year before), so I had my OPM government papers with me to show the interviewer that I was about to possibly work for government. I think that is what also swayed the person, because barring that, it probably would not have been approved.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsREVOCATION
Filing for K-1 visa while still being married as they see is unequivocally a serious crime-It's a misrepresentation of facts, fraud, etc..etc... I have had that happened to a close friend of mine. He tried arm and leg to overturn USCIS decision but had no luck. It is a difficult pill to swallow by going against the investigation the USCIS conducted. my thoughts to you : Get married in Pakistan and file a spousal visa. If you truly love the person you want to bring-bond of marriage is stronger than Fiance'. You will waste time and all your efforts trying to overturn decision that is already etched in stone. I think. That's just my opinion!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSENDING ORIGINAL DOCS TO NVC
My wife has the original with her overseas. I will have to ask for her to dhl me those and they might get lost. I will just have the copies notarized here of the relevant docs. Also, she can show the originals to the consulate at the time of the interview.
I guess the NVC has country specific requirements so I will just wait fr the actual instructions than relying on these guides.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresSENDING ORIGINAL DOCS TO NVC
I have been reading different guides about sending original documents to NVC as part of AOS packet. It includes sending original marriage certificate, beneficiary's original birth certificate, and so on. My question is when will we get those back?
Also, If a petitioner had been divorced before, shouldn't original of that be included in the AOS packet or no. It only mentions of sending any previous divorce decree of the beneficiary.

Thanks for the help!

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT I-864/864A
I understand my friend but the thing is my mother doesn't work anywhere she is just a housewife only my dad file his taxes jointly. So possibly could I include in I-864A for her. If she had been working and had her W-2's and stuff, it would make sense to include her I-864A as well coz then the joint tax return of my dad would have combined income.
