Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics Appointment: Can you go early?
Just got off the phone with a friend who "tried" it in Atlanta and was told "We do not do that anymore". Not sure if it is worth the chance but if I'm in tha area I might just give it a go.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionBiometrics Appointment: Can you go early?
I'm sure this has been asked a thousand times before but it seems like the first time around for AOS we went early for the biometrics. We just had to have the appointment letter but going early was okay. Is this true? Can I do this with biometrics for the I-751?

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionAnyone on here done the Biometrics appointment yet?
Not sure which office you are going to but in Atlanta you are asked/told to wait outside. There is NO going in the building. My wife walked out with the paperwork and I helped her fill it out. I think we were the only ones there as the waiting area was empty but still we were told to wait outside. Everyone else was treated the same way. Not a big deal as she was in and out in 15 minutes. We even went 9 days early than our scheduled appointment date. Our friends did the same thing and his wife was only allowed inside.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionShould we reschedule our biometrics appointment?
Also, they do not stamp your passport at Biometrics. This is strictly for fingerprints and photo. My wife took her passport, greencard, the NOA and the biometrics appointment letter. You are expected to carry the original NOA everywhere you go until your new 10 year GC arrives.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionLease or mortgage contract - HELP
We bought our house over a year ago and I just realized hubby was not on the title. I just called up a real estate attorney (many Remax offices have them on site) and asked them to place him on title. I showed up at the office that same day and they gave me a notarized copy and charged me $40. Easy as pie.

Tax statements, insurance statements (particularly life insurance) and joint bills are just as good for evidence, though.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionGreen Card Approved but with conditions

I ran into this situation back in July 2004 with our Boise, Idaho office. My approval date was July 7; I had been married July 1, 2002. I went back into the office with my card and marriage certificate, pointed out they had made a mistake and that I should have received the 10 year card. They told me basically they had the right to issue the 2 year card as nowhere in the law does it clearly state in black and white that after a 2 year marriage do they legally have to issue a 10 year card. They had run into this situation in the past, had checked with their lawyer on it and he told them they were within the right to issue the 2 year card so until there was something clearly written in black and white, they will keep issuing the 2 year card first no matter the length of marriage. The Supervisor also told me she was aware other immigration offices do issue a 10 year card after a 2 year marriage.

Take your card back to the office and question them about it, you might just get lucky.

I have just called the USCIS and wasted an hour of my life. They said it didn't matter how long i had been married the first Green card is conditional.

Thanks for your reply

Confirmed. :)
When you return to the US, go to the USC/Residents line and breeze through with your Green Card and passport. Hopefully collect your "Welcome Home!" from the nice officer.
Don't bring back any meat products.

Have a nice trip!

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionTravelling close to Gc expiration date
Hey

We are getting ready to file for removal of conditions, as my GC expires on May 15th 2008. We have planned a trip back to the UK in March and was wondering if it would be a problem with just over a month left on the card at the date of my return. I assume that as long as my GC has not expired that I should be OK. I have heard in the past that traveling with less than 3 months on passports is not advisable and I was wondering whether it applies to the GC card as well.

Thanks

First of all, I apologize, but I have some really dumb questions...

Paul's card expires in 4 days!!! When we were approved for the 2 year, we signed an affidavit saying we would file again in 2 years between Feb 2- May 2 2008. I guess we're not late as long as we have it post marked by the 2nd, am I right? Please say yes!

And....
While the case is pending, is he allowed to still work here? His drivers license also expires on the 2nd of May, will he be able to renew it?

Thanks a lot to anyone who can answer these.

Melanie and Paul

As far as I am aware, there are probably better people to answer this, you are ok as long as you file with in the Ninety day period preceding the expiration of the green Card.
As for being able to work, once USCIS receives your application I-751 Removal of conditions they would send out a NOA saying they have receive your application and the letter gives a 1 yr extension. Saying that these may take a while to get to you or not at all if you filed at TSC just recently so you will need to get passport stamped. Until then you will be in a bit of limbo. I suggest that you get you application off to them as soon as you can and make an infopass appointment to get your passport stamped, you will probably need proof that it has been sent and received.

As for drivers license, it depends on the state you are in, Georgia pretty tough and i have had problems in the past. be prepared that you might not be able to renew until you have the letter or the stamp in the passport. Also they may only renew the DL up to the point that the letter or stamp is vaild for.

I hope that this helps,

Richard

There is a lot of information available on this forum that is saying Texas Service Center has not and is not sending out the NOAs. Since you are in Miami you filed in Texas so you will not receive an NOA. You may wish to read some of the relevant threads about this. What you will need to do is make an INFOPASS appointment at your local USCIS office and get a temporary I-551 stamp placed in your unexpired passport. The local offices are well aware that TSC is not sending out the extension letters so you will have no problems getting the stamp - just the hassle of having to go and get it instead. The stamp will extend your greencard status for a year.

Here is a useful thread that will have the most information available for recent filers to TSC:
http://www.visajourn...howtopic=118137

Ohh, I didn't know that, thanks for the info.
Should I get a stamp BEFORE my GC expires or AFTER?
Does it make any difference?

It would probably better if you got your passpot stamped before your GC expires.

QUOTE (Milva @ May 12 2008, 04:59 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Yes it does however I still need to know the following:

When I receive the NOA1 is that the application # which I can track thru the internet or do I need to wait for the Biometrics?
Also, I have not found a new place to go to and I need to file Wednesday therefore I understand the process but I wanted to know with the Biometrics letter stating that our case has been extended and since most likely it will be sent PRIOR to us finding a new home (we need to be out by June 30th) it will be ok to change the address after we move.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Yes the application number on the NOA1 is the number that you can use to track you application online. The NOA1 also is the extension letter. The Biometrics letter is just the appointment notice for you biometrics. Can I ask why you need to file on Wednesday? If Your GC is expiring on wednesday then you will also need to get your passport stamped to cover untill you get the NOA1. Otherwise you will be fine to file within the 90 days up to the GC expiry. It will give you time to know where you are moving to.
yes it is ok to do it after you move within the 10 day period

I am about to file for the lifting of conditions this week, and based on everyone on VJ it appears that due to the delay they will most likely be sending out an extension for one year. THIS IS MY PROBLEM headbonk.gif My husband and I need to move out of our house as soon as possible..... At which point will I get the extension letter? In the first NOA or when they scheduled the Biometrics Appointment? At which stage can I track thru the internet. The new owners are nice enough to advise me if something comes from Immigration (eventhough I would be able to tell thru the internet) however I am concerned with me changing my address at this point.

Please Help ME !!!

Thanks

If the change is almost immediate and you know your new address I would send the application with you new address on it alond witha a change of address form.
Here is what the USCIS Says
"USCIS Online Change of Address

IntroductionCustomers who have an application and/or petition which has been filed with USCIS but has not yet been decided (also known as a 'pending' case) should notify USCIS of any change of address as soon as possible after moving.

The law requires nearly all non-U.S. Citizens1 to report a change of address within 10 days of moving by completing a Form AR-11. Abiding by these legal requirements and completing the necessary forms does not update an address on any applications or petitions pending with USCIS. Non-citizens with pending cases must do both.

Most customers can now notify USCIS to change their address on a pending case online here on our website. Non-citizens can also now complete the Form AR-11 online here on our website.

If you choose to change your address online using our Online Change of Address Notification tool, you will need to have some information available. Please have the following information available before you begin:
  • Your receipt notice or other notice we sent you showing your receipt number (if you have a pending case with USCIS).
  • Your new address
  • Your old address
  • If you have filed a petition for a family member, please have the names and biographical information for that person.
  • When you last entered the United States (if you cannot remember this information please fill in an approximate date)
  • Where you last entered the United States (through what port of entry you entered - whether by land, sea or air)
How do I submit my change of address if I don't have my receipt number?

An AR-11 Change of Address does not require a receipt number. You can submit your change of address for a Pending Case if you have not yet received a receipt number for your application.

If you have paid for your application by:

Check: You can update your address using USCIS' Change of Address Online. This requires your receipt number. Look at the back of the cancelled check that was returned to you through your bank. On the back is the 13-digit USCIS receipt number which looks like this (but will have different letters and numbers) ABC 01 23456789 Use your 13-digit number when you are asked to input your receipt number in your change of address.

Money order: You can report your change of address by calling USCIS Customer Service toll-free at 1-800-375-5283, and a USCIS Customer Service agent will enter your new address for you."

Hope this helps

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionReceived this from USCIS
Hi I received this email from USCIS. I have already received notice that my application has be transfered to VSC from TSC more two months ago. I was wondering has anyone else had this experience and If someone could shed some light on this. Also it doesn't say where my application has been transfered to?

Application Type: CRI89, PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED

Current Status: This case is now pending at the office to which it was transferred.

The CRI89 PETITION TO REMOVE CONDITIONS OF PERMANENT RESIDENT STATUS RECEIVED was transferred and is now pending standard processing at a USCIS office. You will be notified by mail when a decision is made, or if the office needs something from you. If you move while this case is pending, please use our Change of Address online tool to update your case with your new address. We process cases in the order we receive them. You can use our processing dates to estimate when this case will be done, counting from when USCIS received it. Follow the link below to check processing dates. Ok I have been to the British embassy website, see link( http://www.britainus...n...2=41001&d=1 ) They say it takes about 10 days if it a straight foward application. I think that you can renew it faster than that if it is emergency I could'nt find details. It is pretty costly at $250.00 plus $15.00 for shipping. You will need to send original docs.

I see from the list that you didn't recieve the NOA1 extending C's GC. So therefore you will need to make an infopass appointment and get C's passport stamped. This will be vaild for 1 yr and will be vaild for working, and travelling. C's work may want to see documentation that C's GC has been extended, it depends whether they keep up with that sort of thing.

If it possible to ask for stamp person witch will do biometrics or I should do info pass appointment for it. My GC will expire in middle of July but who wont to do trip twice.J

It depends, here in Atlanta the place where we get biometrics done is in a completely different place to where I had my infopass appointment. Some places have both the biometrics and infopass appointments in the same building. I guessing that you will have to make two trips or try and make the infopass appointment to coinside with the biometris appointment.

For anyone who has had a recent INFOPASS appointment in the Atlanta office, what were you allowed to bring in with you? Were women allowed to bring purses or not? My appointment is tomorrow at noon so I want to be prepared. Any recent information would be welcome.

Its pretty much as MaryandMian said. Security is pretty much like airport security, empty pockets, remove belt and watch. Make sure that if someone is coming with you that they have ID ie GA license, otherwise they won't let them in. I was asked for Infopass appointment letter, passort and GC, I wasn't asked for SS card. We didn't take our mobile with us just in case that we had to be turned back.

So you were also transferred mid-March. It is too bad that they can't update the file for something like that unless another event triggers the update:-). Anyway, congratulations. I assume you got the passport stamp without a problem? My appointment is next Wednesday.

I had my appointment today @ Atlanta Office, No problems.

CanadaLong Form Birth Certificate

Yup exactly Posted Image

Really? I didnt know copies of the birth certificate could be sent to NVC. I thought it had to be original form. So all will be fine if I submit the original & then request it back at the interview?

CanadaPolice certificate required at time of interview??

Hi,

I am a little bit panicking right now. I will explain my situation.

We started our immigration process for a CR1 visa back in August 2011. By mid-December 2011 we got approved by NVC and my interview was scheduled for January 18th 2012.
Unfortunately, I have been obligated to reschedule due to personal circumstances. I rescheduled for September 19th 2012. Right now I am preparing myself for my
interview and I just realized something...

When I submitted my DS-230 I did send an original Police certificate (Canadian), which is dated from September 29th 2011. I have no clue when those certificates expires,
but it will soon be a year. And now I am worried that they will ask for a police certificate at the interview (I have a copy of it, but obviously the original was sent to
NVC).

So can someone please :help: me... Are they going to ask for an updated police certificate at the time of interview? I am sooo worried right now :(

Also if you guys have any tips for my interview in Montreal... I will gladly take some!!

Hi All,

I sent my I-751 package on Feb'20 2007 to Texas Service Center.
Check cashed on 27th Feb.
March 10th - Recieved Acknowledgment letter saying that Bio-mertic fee($70) is paid.
March 20th - Recieved Bio-mertic Appointment letter for March 29th in Atlanta, GA.
Mathc 22nd - Recieved NOA approving 1 year extension on employment & travelling.

I gone through online InfoPass to get appointment for one year extension stamp on my passport....that is scheduled on March 29th....same day as my biometirc appointment.

1 Year extenstion stamp appointment is at 11:00AM
Bio-mertic Appointment is at 2:00PM

Both are in Atlanta, GA. But offices are located in different places.

(These two offices are not same. In some local service centers, they can be located in same office space. But in Atlanta they are located 15 miles a part.)

Thanks.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan Can Have passport stamped at biometrics appointment?

You don't need the letter if you're travelling or need the stamp but your letter hasn't arrived yet and your greencard is expiring. Does that make sense??

If you get 1 year extension letter (NOA), that would be good enough to travel. But i think to be on safer side, its good idea to goahead get a stamp in your passport....

Even though, if you didnot got a one year exetnsion letter (NOA) and if your permanent resident card expires, you can still go to your local office through InfoPass Appointment, and talk to them that you applied I-751 & your permanent resident card is expired, they will issue one year extension stamp for you.

Without a stamp in your passport or the NOA letter, you will have trouble to re-enter USA, with your expired permanent resident card.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionCan Can Have passport stamped at biometrics appointment?
Hi,

I got my bio-metric appointment for March 29th in Atlanta, GA office.

i thought i could get my one year extension stamp there.

But by research, i fould that these two offices are not same. In some local offices they can be sharing same office.

In Atlanta, GA they are located 15 miles a part.

And for one year extension stamp, you have to take appointmnet through InfoPass online...And you need the one year extension letter from INS.

Thanks.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHas anyone been denied a driver's licence while lifting conditions?

Actually I took InfoPass and went to local Atlanta immigration office to get I-551 stamp, they didn't issue me one. They said NOA letter and expired GC is enough.

There is so much inconsistency. The immigration officer told me we are entitled to have that stamp!

As i understood, they will issue I-551 stamp, if you loose your NOA letter or if you didnot get NOA before your 2 year GC expires. And again it depends on the officer you will face in the local office.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHas anyone been denied a driver's licence while lifting conditions?

Hi All,

I was in the same situation, to renew my driver’s license in Georgia State. I shown them NOA with my expired 2-year GC. At 1st they have trouble to understand that, but they discussed with other officers and agreed to issue the license. I got it renewed for one year.

You have relieved my mind greatly about this! I was worried that next Spring when both my license and my green card expire I would be facing the situation of " a letter and an expired green card are not enough!". I was trying to figure out all sorts of ways to convince the local immigration office to give me the I-551 stamp since the DMV does recognize that. So, hopefully they will have seen enough of these NOA letters by then that it won't be a problem.
