Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNo Green Card After Approval Letter
Thanks, Zen, Rabia and Meriem.

I called USCIS this morning and the customer service couldnt give me a reason for the delay as they are still looking on the matter. mad.gif
I was told to call again by the end of August. About the I-551 stamp, i asked about that and according to the agent, that is only for travelling out of the US.... ???

I was assured last month that I would get an update from the mail.... and they said the same thing again today! ohmy.gif mad.gif mad.gif

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionNo Green Card After Approval Letter
My daughter and I got our approval letter for the I-751 on May 13, 2009. I filed the I-751 with her as my dependent. I got my 10-year-GC last June 29 but my daughter never got hers. I have called the USCIS customer service twice, the last one on July 15. I was given a service request number, and was told to wait for 45 days which is the end of August. I was told to expect an update from the mail or online (CRIS). There was no mail and no online update.

What should I do? Should I go to the local office? My daughter needs her GC because she is applying for college in schools here in Atlanta.... and she needs to get a driver's license too. She is also looking for work. I know that she can use her Approval Letter but still, I think she has to have her greencard by now.

Please, any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Notice how some are trying to shift the actual topic from how do you feel when your first love tells you they are getting married to don't allow your ex to be your best friend. Let's get this topic back on course - it isn't about being best friends with an ex vs your husband so don't try to change the topic to something that it isn't. Start your own thread if you want to discuss that.

Sorry but I believe the topics are related (the OP stated she is still close with her ex). If my first love told me she was getting married I would be "that's great, I'm happy for you" but there would be zero mixed emotions. Again I don't know the OP's situation but in general there is definitely a possibility of "emotional" cheating (or worse) in these types of situations.

The bottom line is if your ex is getting married & that bothers you there IS a problem!

I think it's a bit out of line to accuse someone of emotional cheating simply because she is friends with her ex. Like you said, you DON'T know her situation, so please refrain from these accusations.

Settle down... I am generalizing about this type of situation... only the OP knows her true feelings in the matter.

It can become a problem, I agree.

But if any friendship caused problems with my husband and I, those friends would be gone because my husband comes before them. I think as long as everyone is respecting their boundaries it's okay. If a friend hit on me, I wouldn't bat my lashes and smile, I'd tell them to GTFO.. not only are they disrespecting my husband, they're disrespecting me. I'm married... the line is drawn... if you can be my friend and accept just a friendship, then we're cool. If you need to pursue something more: buh bye.

If they're out to cause problems with my relationship then they wouldn't be my friends in the first place.

Notice how all the women are saying keeping in touch with ex's is great... the men seem to have a different opinion.

I asked hubby.. who has 2 children with his ex.. he said (and I quote) "some people find any excuse to flame someone for any reason"...

rofl.gif Or maybe you don't like to hear the truth? Like I said before it's OK to be friends with an ex, but when your ex is your best friend (or you remain very close) it can easily become a problem. That can put a strain on a relationship & put your partner in a difficult situation... if he/she doesn't say anything they are very likely being a sucker. If he/she does say something then they are being insecure or jealous. Pretty much a no-win scenario.

Also like I said before, ex's are ex's for a reason... if you want to keep them in your life exchange Christmas cards but for God's sake don't make him/her your best friend... your partner should have dibs on that role.

One of my ex bf's was at my wedding, we danced the night away. There's a picture of me on my fb in my wedding dress getting a piggy back from him later on in the evening outside the hotel. My husband is the one who took the picture. It's called being SECURE in your relationship.

I knew someone would say something like this & from what I've seen its a coin toss... 50% of the time the relationship with the ex is harmless & 50% of the time it isn't. I guess I'm the only guy on VJ that doesn't want to sit down & have lunch with the guy that used to do the naked pretzel with my wife tongue.gif

Uh, yeah thanks for the advice! good.gif

I didn't take the news badly at all and if you actually read what I wrote, then you would understand that I'm not upset at all. That wasn't the point of the thread. Unfortunately, that's why I stay in the Canadian form most of the time because they actually read what people write and offer rational advice.

But thank you so much for telling me that I have an issue. laughing.gif I'm glad that you know me and my life and my relationship with others, including my husband, in order to make a judgment like that.

Gosh..you should be...a therapist!

OK I read your OP again & perhaps I came on too strong, but I am personally not a fan of ex's hanging around as a best friend. From what I have seen (both first hand and second hand) is that these types of situations can cause a lot of problems. An occasional email or Christmas card from the ex is fine, but if you are that close it could very well be an issue. I have fond memories from previous relationships & that's completely healthy, but the past is the past as far as I am concerned.

You may not agree with what I am saying & of course I don't have personal knowledge of your situation, but my point is that you may have some unresolved feelings for this guy (and vice versa).

CanadaHow do you feel about strippers?
I'd much rather spend a night at home doing the naked pretzel with my wife than go to a strip club, so this issue wasn't even a factor in my situation. However like others have said as long as the guy doesn't plan to frequent strib clubs after you get married & nothing worse than a lap dance happened then I wouldn't get too upset about it.

I am leveling my priest as Shadow/Discipline & my main issue is constantly running out of mana (never an issue with my lock, due to their ability to life tap & drain mana). Am I missing something with my priest concerning keeping my mana pool up? I am in greens (frostweave stuff) so I'm not exactly geared (will run WG & BG's starting at 77 to get epic PvP gear). I don't have enough time in RL to raid (and I would get wife aggro if I did, laughing.gif ).

Yeah I don't have trouble with mana anymore with my priest, but I have a vague recollection of having to drink A LOT when levelling - which was pre-heirloom items. It does get better. I find the mage to be much more mana intensive than my priest ever was. I think one of the reasons I haven't enjoyed the warlock as much is because I have been doing a lot of bgs with her and once my minion takes off and i'm left there (shield has been used) - i'm done. I fear, they are immune (which annoys me laughing.gif ) - I have no back up, not like the priest who can keep shielding or the mage that can freeze and blink. Once I start doing more PVE I might enjoy it more.

I agree, use your shadowfiend every time you think of it, it really does help - don't know if you are far enough down in the shadow tree to have dispersion yet, but that is a great tool for mana.

Thanks for the tips guys & yea the shadowfiend is great (5 min cd sucks but there is probably a glyph or something to bring it down). I had dispersion but respecced cus it didn't seem all that useful (will relook). As for a lock don't fear spam/ rely on fear too much... dot them up & drain life. Put your pet on passive & sick him on a spell caster (I use fel puppy almost exclusively). Use pet's abilities as often as possible to disrupt the spell caster. A lock's only nemesis are rogues. If I outgear the rogue or outplay him I can use death coil & get away, but if not he'll keep stunning me until I'm dead (no matter what I do).

I take it you PvP as affliction? I love destruction for pvp, although with the 3.3 changes to conflag, it's not as good anymore methinks. I loved being able to do 20-30k damage in 5 seconds or less. Made it so much fun to just burst down a warrior in a matter of seconds.

Yea I am demon/affliction... I know destro is popular now but I never made the switch.

Of the 3 I like playing the lock the most (hands down). I don't like melee (DK) since I have to be on top of someone to do damage & leveling a priest is slow & painful (I could solo most elites with my lock). I also have a 70 rogue that was my main at one time, but I haven't played him in like 2 years either.

Now that's blasphemy! laughing.gif

Are you levelling your priest as holy? In that case I can understand it taking some time. If it's shadow, I would think you would be whipping along!

I'm not crazy about melee either, I don't think I am a melee kind of person, whatever that means lol

Last night I got my warlock to 80, i've been playing it for several months off and on, it's really just for fun, ie I don't need to get her a gazillion pieces of gear laughing.gif - in fact i'm not sure that I really like playing a warlock.

I have also been levelling a mage - now the mage I really like, she is level 55 or something now, I can see myself playing that character - however the shadow priest will always be the main!

I definately recommend Deadly Boss Mods as an add on too - it is really good.

I also put a piece of paper on my keyboard for Neg and Pos last week, when you are busy concentrating on the fight it's easy to forget which side you have designated beforehand.

The polarity changing after you kill him must be a random thing. Immediately after we all stood still - then realized none of us had a polarity buff afterwards at all.

It has probably been mentioned before, but the best mod for leveling & daily quests is Quest Helper.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionMotion to re-open refused
I've read about horror stories with appeals.. like cases pending for over a year. I would suggest reapplying and then after you get the new case number call the call center and ask for an expedite (I would argue that the lost letter = error on their behalf). I am familiar with the K1 process (not yours) but I assume the procedure for getting an expedite is the same.

I would try the call center first. Explain the situation & see if an expedite is possible. Based on what you've said you probably do not need a lawyer.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionA Humblimg Biometrics Experience
That is pretty scary RichardS! I'm in Atlanta too, about to send off my petition to remove condition on my residency. I'm currently 6 months pregnant and the idea of standing in line there for hours doesn't sound very appealing! blink.gif

My AOS was approved without interview by CSC and I am thimking (hoping) my I-751 could be transferred and processed there too. By looking at the timelines on the awesome table on this thread, I see it takes about 2 months after the first NOA is received to get the biometrics. I'll be delivering my baby at the beginning of April and I'm hoping I'll get the appointment before that.

How does the biometrics date get scheduled? Do you actually schedule the appointment by phone after receiving the NOA1 or are they going to send the date together with the NOA1?

Thanks for posting your experience. wink.gif Good luck with your application!

Yes, the biometrics are done at the Application Support Center on Collier Rd., not at the actual USCIS offices. The Collier Rd ASC is in an old warehouse and at the back of the property. Collier Rd is a winding road that goes first through a commercial district, then through a residential type area and finally a light industrial section. The ASC driveway is halfway down a hill to the right with a trucking warehouse immediately before it. Try and get a parking space as close to the back of the building as you can as the entrance is at the back. It will probably be very busy - there is overflow parking in the big field immediately adjacent to the parking lot.

Thank you so much Kathryn, that was very helpful!

Hi xtin,

I'm scheduled to do my biometrics In Atlanta one day after you, on the 23rd. Also my letter says to go to Collier Road. Okay, I just googled it and I believe I found the document you are talking about. I attached it, although I'm not sure I succeeded. Anyway, I believe it refers to the USCIS Atlanta Local Office which has nothing to do with the location of the building where they do the biometrics. I've been at the building on Collier Road before and that is just a location where they take pictures and fingerprints. It is not the USCIS office, where they do interviews, infopass and so on. The new location is replacing the office in downtown Atlanta and one in Dunwoody, which actually I had no idea it existed.

I think we are fine with going to Collier Rd.

I'm sorry! Not trying to give you a hard time! But, that was really dumb! Now having said that I did manage to send in the right form BUT I forgot to sign the form so ours was sent back. I also sent it to Texas so when they mailed it back I then sent it on to Vermont per their request. So, you are not the only dumb person. innocent.gif I had everything printed and ready to mail but noticed that somehow I had typed in my death date (which to me I still do not know) so on the reprint I forgot to sign. DOH. At least I did not have to prove that I was not dead. That could have taken a while to straighten out.

On another lighter note when my wife received her Green Card it had her sex listed as male. She started getting letters from Selective Service and offers to join the Army. That little USCIS screwup took months to correct and it was ALL their fault.

Congrats on getting your bio appt out of the way, LS! good.gif

Thanks. I do not expect it to speed up the process any but getting over with and not just hanging out there was nice.

The officer was super nice and remembered us from the day before. He told us the best times/days to come back and going early would be no problem. Today I talked with a nicely dressed man who I assume was in charge and he said that in the past year things have been moving very slow. When he started there they were doing biometrics for about 500 people a day. Now a high number would be closer to 300. He believes the increase in fees has caused a lot of people to put off filing the forms because they cannot afford to pay more money. Interesting!

Biometrics done! We went early and it took about 15 minutes. Could not have been a more pleasant experience. I'm shocked. Our original appointment was 8/23 and we just got it out of the way.

Yesterday we were in the area of the office for biometrics and I decied to take a chance and head on over. We arrived at 4pm and the doors close at 3:45 so it did not happen yesterday. The guard was outside and said it would be no problem to come back early but suggested we do it on days that were not too busy. Wednesday and Saturday between 2:30p and 3:00p. So, today we are going back. Might as well knock it out early. One of the nicest people I've ever dealt with at USCIS.

Just got off the phone with a friend who "tried" it in Atlanta and was told "We do not do that anymore". Not sure if it is worth the chance but if I'm in tha area I might just give it a go.
