PhilippinesNOA2 and then what's next?

will it be ok to follow-up with them everyday? i want to do that, but i don't want them to get irritated to me and it might affect our application.. so 2 weeks is the minimum turn around time for my case to be forwarded from NVC to my consulate? i appreciate all your advise guys. thank you!

Not necessarily. I got our NOA2 by text on July 11th. By the 17th, they had received our case at NVC and assigned it a case number. By the 19th, it had been sent to our consulate, and it arrived today. So that's 2 weeks from NOA2 to consulate receipt... which means it is completely possible. And I wouldn't (and didn't) feel bad about calling every day for a status update. I just kind of played dumb like I hadn't called before and asked if they'd received our petition, and if so, what were the next steps. Hope this helps--good luck!

PhilippinesNOA2 and then what's next?
Next your case will be sent to NVC (National Visa Center) where it will go through cursory processing... they'll check to make sure addresses are accurate and such, then they'll assign a case number before sending the petition to your consulate. This process may take anywhere from a couple of weeks to several weeks (CSC appears to be pretty slow to send NOA2 cases along to NVC these days... average looks to be about 28 days or so). I've also heard of cases that have been at NVC waiting for case numbers to be assigned for 3-4 weeks recently. That said, I've seen them also go through from NOA2 to receipt at the beneficiary's consulate in as little as 2 weeks recently. You can start calling the NVC about a week after you received the NOA2 to inquire as to whether they've received your case, assigned a case number, and even whether they've sent it to the consulate (using your WAC receipt number). This is also a good time to start gathering the documents and evidence that you'll need for the Packet 3 and the interview. Congrats and best of luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNOA2-APPROVED
From what I've heard just keep adding to your evidence file so you'll have new proof of ongoing legitimate relationship when he goes into his interview. I've also heard that if you can be in Casablanca with him during the interview that's helpful--even though it's incredibly rare for them to actually let you in, it says a lot about the relationship that you're there with him through it. And try not to stress... as a legit couple you should have no problems because your natural curiosity about each other over the course of your relationship has likely given you the opportunity to get to know each other pretty well. Congrats and best of luck!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsPredicted Timeline
I've seen responses to several questions about Obama's executive decision having an effect on the VSC processing times (and might even have been guilty of it myself). I spoke with my attorney earlier this week, and she had an excellent point. Those cases are not even being processed yet. And once they start rolling in, it'll be such a big deal they'll probably end up hiring new staff to handle just that. So I don't think this is the reason for the slow down. I do agree, though, that it sucks! I'm a January 31st filer, myself, and our petition has been passed over by February cases, but yet there are still a ton in the middle of January that need processing. There doesn't appear to be any rhyme or reason to it. Good luck to all!!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVSC Processing Times
I just met with my attorney and asked about the 5-month processing goal for fiance and marriage visas at VSC. She said that the VSC has been running about 1 month behind on all visa petitions in general. I just thought I'd share this for those of us who filed in January and February and who are waiting with bated breath for our NOA2s.

I apologize that you are not helped by this thread. In that case, please go to another thread. Your negativity isn't needed here. And I'm really sorry that you seem to have having a rough time. But please don't take it out on others.

Dont apologize, AmberLynn... the only person this Negative Nancy has to blame is himself for being so negative. We're all here to feel like we're in the boat together and we're not alone in our obsessions to know what the heck's going on with our visa petitions. I personally feel like this is a great thread, and I'm so thankful to know that even though I'm stressed about the more than 5 months time that's already passed since our NOA1, that there are other people out there who are going through the same thing. Way to go!!!

I'm on the USCIS site probably at least 2x/day, and calling the office once a day at this point. I keep trying to tell myself, "anytime now, it'll be here!" Alas, every time I check it still says "Initial Review", and they're still processing January 9th, according to everyone I reach at VSC.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsK-1 PETITION APPROVAL TODAY
Congrats!! I know our petitions are from different service centers, but mine took a week to get to NVC (received on Tuesday of this week). I guess my thought process is that our petitions are from the same country so maybe, just maybe, you'll have a similar experience... sending hopeful thoughts your way!

Check out Igor's List here: http://www.visajourn...tion=1&sortby=2 This link will show the top last 15 approved. Scroll down, and you will see approved petitions from last August to Present. Many January and some February filers are getting approved. The realistic time frame has been 5-7 months for a very long time now. It is pretty much standard. I filed in April and will consider ourselves lucky if my fiancee and I can be together by November. This might be realistic if we were to get approved by the end of September. Even then, it would come down to a lot of crunch time. Good luck! :)

Yikes! Kind of a worst case scenario, but I agree. Don't expect anything sooner than November or December if filing in June.

It is rare, but some people do get approved right under the 5 month mark. Many people you see getting approved within a couple of months or 3 are more than likely military personnel getting cases expedited.

I don't think it's a worst case scenario at all. I'm not talking about it taking 9 - 12 months to get approval of the petition. The original poster said she was hoping to be with her fiance by the 5 - 6 month mark. We all know there's a heck of a lot more that goes into getting your fiance here physically than receiving your NOA2 approval! Yes, it's a fact that if you add up the number of K-1 cases filed since 2010, the average wait is right at 5 months (it's actually 19.45 weeks, to be exact... I ran the numbers). Unfortunately, with VSC's current pace, the cases appear to be taking longer than average right now for NOA2. After that, you still have to factor in passing through NVC, being received at the beneficiary's consulate, competing the Packet 3, and then passing the interview before you get the visa that allows you to come physically be with your USC fiance to get married. All in all, the average K-1 case takes approximately 9 - 12 months. :bonk:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsVermont Center is slow?
I hate to burst your bubble, but I think your time frame is highly unrealistic. If you just filed in June, you'll be just receiving your NOA2 in late November, most likely. Assuming your petition is approved with no RFEs, you still have to go through the background check at the NVC (which can take anywhere from a couple of weeks to a year, depending on whether someone on any of the international terrorist or criminal watchlists has the same name as your beneficiary fiance). After that, the petition file goes to the fiance's consulate and they have to file more papers and get a medical exam before they can even have an interview. A more realistic timeline is probably 9 months to a year from your file date. That said, I've heard of a couple of cases put through in as little as 6 or 7 months (only once or twice, though), and I've heard of them taking almost a couple of years (if they have to go to AP or receive a NOID/NOIR). If I were you, I'd settle in, get used to waiting, and count yourself lucky if you've got an NOA2 by December. Best of luck to you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsMarch Filers!!!! CSC
This is fairly common... some cases may have expedited service, others may be front loaded in the order that the processing center prefers (making the petition easier to process for them), and others may be missing information or not presented in an organized fashion. When a case petition isn't easy to process or looks like it's going to require additional work, it often gets put aside in favor of one that's better organized or more complete. I can't say for sure exactly what may be the case in your situation, but these are just some examples of why some cases are put through to NOA2 faster than others.
