Also a Feb filer. Our I-130 was delivered last night, so we're waiting for the NOA1.

By the way, there's another similar thread: http://www.visajourn...eb-2014-filers/

Maybe someone could merge the two?

yea it was USPS....my tracking says they tried to deliver on the 14th at 8 pm!!! Who the hell delivers at 8!

Did you send it to the PO box? If so, it should be sitting in the box where somebody will pick it up.

This is whats been happening with our i-130s going to chicago lock box cuz of bad weather the postal service is being delayed getting our stuff out plus alot of times they are not scanning our stuff so we are not getting any alerts from the usps website

It's so annoying! The weather isn't even that bad -_-

Any word on your application?

Not yet, but I assume it's because it's President's Day and they're closed. Hopefully tomorrow.... :/

I totally agree with you TALA. I've sent our application on Wednesday, and it was supposed to be in USCIS by  Friday.  Turns out they didn't bring the package to USCIS until 8 pm!!! I tried to schedule a redelivery but can't get ahold of a customer service representative I hope they don't send back our package sad.png

:( That's so frustrating! Ours is still stuck in the "Available for pickup" stage until someone grabs it out of the PO box, I guess.

Did you also send it with USPS to the PO box? Do you have tracking??

Guys i have a question!

If i will buy return ticket to the US, instead of one way (found cheaper offer), can immigration question this?

Or there is no problem?

They wont question it at all. The stamp you will receive at POE will act as a temporary green card, and a green card gives you the right to come and go from the US as you please.

Return tickets are usually a hassle for people on a K1 visa.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsNVC Filers - June 2014

hm, I don't know how to make a thumbnail pic like that to show you, but perhaps when you clicked on n/a it did something?  Considering folks were running into trouble whenever they clicked on something ... take the DS261 for example!  which has led to people getting delays if they resubmitted it... I haven't dared click on anything on my screens.

On the receipt page, both fees say paid.

On the other link, https://ceac.state.gov/IV/Login.aspx  ->my AOS fee and document boxes both show n/a.... I ain't gonna touch dat!! :P

and my civil documents box also shows n/a.

With a case complete under my arm, nothing will convince me that I need to worry.

With YOUR case completed, there just cannot be any way that's an issue, as the fees were already withdrawn from your account etc.  If you're nervous enough about it, you could call NVC, but I really can't believe you need to.  The new system clearly doesn't have any kinks worked out yet, and clicking on anything is a bit like they've set BAIT to mess with people! :bonk:

This is what my summary page looks like..

Attached File  untitled3.jpg   105.12KB   3 downloads

And you are probably right, its most likely a system clitch of theirs. Even on my IL it shows fees as paid. Just wish it was a week day so I can call and confirm this.

Thanks Lakehouse!

And if any other members have encountered this.. and have spoken to NVC about it, pls let me know what they said!

Ok.. so here is something that has me stumbed!!

I have case complete as of May 22nd and interview was assigned yesterday.

So i log on to ceac to print out the receipts for the IV and AOS payments to start assembling my docs that I will be taking at the interview and all of sudden on the summary page it shows N/A under AOS payment. So I click on it and it shows that AOS payments is rejected!!

AOS was paid on Apr 7th, was showing 'In Process' for 5 days and then changed to paid. And stayed at paid the entire time.

Now all of a sudden payment is rejected?!

What the HELL!???

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsDS 260 - missing previous employment and education tabs

Don't worry. If you don't have that section available to fill out, means NVC does't require the information. I had the same thing on my DS-260. NVC only requires past employment information from beneficiaries from certain countries, of certain age and sex.

Being a female from the UK means they don't require that information for you.

I'm not sure if that is the best idea. They have the right to deny your entry to America. If it is a must that you visit your husband, you should have ####### load of evidence that you will be going back to your country.

We filed our I-130 in August and I flew to the US to visit my husband on Sep 18th for 3 and a half weeks. I had no problems what so ever in entering. Below is how it went:

Officer: what is the purpose of your visit?

Me: Vacation.

Officer: Who will you be staying with?

Me: My husband

Officer: Are you bringing anything in the US?

Me: A bottle of olive oil and some gifts.

Officer: What kinds of gifts?

Me: A set of 2 decanter crustals and some towels.

Ofiicer: Why towels?! We have those here!

Me: They were a wedding present. They are of more use to my husband here than to me in Greece.

Officer: How long are you planning on staying?

Me: 3 and a half weeks.

Officer: Ok. Place your right hand fingers.....

As lovex3 said, it is a very good idea to have lots of evidence of ties to your home country. I didn't need any of mine, but its better to be safe rather than sorry.

If the stress of the chance of not getting in is too much for you, or if you would rather not lose your money spent on a ticket in the off chance you get denied, then don't do it. Just be honest with them and you'll be fine.

One question, I have been to the states a few times during this process with no issue. However i have been offered 3 interviews at the end of August for 3 great roles ... do you think (if i have my interview letter) that if i state this when entering the US it will be an issue?

I would be careful mentioning job interviews to the CBP, even if you have an interview letter. The letter isn't a guarantee that you will be approved for a visa.

i checked interview schedule for my embassy, there are only 8 CR1 cases in July.

It means 2 cases/week. Not much.

Take into consideration that DV lottery interviews are happening now as well. They go through almost the same process as a CR1 visa so their interviews are scheduled together CR1 visas.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2014 Interviews

Hey guys.. I was wondering if someone can shed some light to my situation.

I got my visa approved, issued and in my hands mid-July this year but have not entered as yet. I will be entering the US on September 25th.

My husband currently lives in Maryland and it was always the plan, that after I am there for good, we would start looking for an apartment in Arlington VA. Our plans were to move by end of October 2014.

However, we have just found the perfect apartment, at the right price and he could be moving in just a couple of weeks!

I know that I can do a change of address form online for USCIS, after I have entered the US,  but my concern in for the SSN. Who and how do I inform them for the change of address?

Thanks!

Having lived overseas and returned to the US twice (with excess luggage) I think the operative phrase is "Household Goods".  Saying you are a new immigrant and the suitcases are your "household goods" should be the ticket to getting through as easily as possible.  If you are not shipping anything, then adding that "paying for excess luggage was cheaper than the shipping price" will help.

If you have one camera, one laptop/tablet, one phone, clothing that has been washed at least once and doesn't have any tags on it, you shouldn't be in trouble.  If everything is brand new, and you have a boatload of electronics, you may raise flags.

Good luck to you - and Welcome!

Thanks Sukie! That makes things simpler. Just would like to avoid to have to spend an hour clearing customs!

Over the past 4 years, I went through IAD 11 times and was rerouted for customs inspection only once. Too many bags does raise a flag. Just prepare a full list of your belongings and make sure the customs agent see that you are a new immigrant to explain the excess luggage. It would help to show 1+ year age of any costly items you might have (receipts, for example) to exempt them from duties as a new immigrant.

Good Luck!

Thanks MoBar! Having a list of all my belongings does sound like a good idea. Though finding receipts for the laptop and the little amount of expensive jewerly I have might be a chanllenge!

From what I have read from the reviews, IAD (Washington DC) is pretty easy and quick. Only thing I am dreading is being stopped at customs and for my luggage to be search.. I am flying in with 6 bags in total and its going to take forever if that happens! We have a 2 hr drive to get home after that!

Even with visa in hand since July.. I still have 39 days till POE (work contract requires 9 weeks of notice) so I am just waiting for the days to go by. Hubby is coming to Athens for 2 weeks before we fly out to spend quality time with my family and enjoy the end of summer at the beach!

Is anyone else going through Washington Dulles for POE?

do you know when/how we get the alien #?

When I picked up my visa, they gave me a piece of paper explaining how to sign up for ELIS and pay the fee. On the top they had written my A#. The A# is also on the page with all my other details stuck on top of the 'do not open' package.

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2013 I-130 Filers

How do we find out if NVC have received file?

Wait a week after NOA2 date and give them a call. State your USCIS case number and simply ask if they have received your case from TSC. If they haven't, keep calling 2-3 times a week till they have.

Otherwise you can call USCIS and specifically ask for a Tier 2 and enquire about the date your case was physically shipped to NVC.

From reading NVC thread, TSC files are received within 2-3 weeks from NOA2. It could be faster now. Your best bet, is to look at Saylin's spreadsheet and focus on TSC filers approved in the last 2 months, and see how long they waitied from NOA2 to NVC case received to get an approx timeline.

B & GFemaleGreece2014-03-26 04:07:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2013 I-130 Filers

We actually called USCIS and they said we needed to submit a notarized copy of our Marriage Certificate, which I would've never been able to guess based on the RFE letter.

The Greek example is more or less what I had thought of, when I read the letter, and that's what confused me, because in Estonia it gets automatically registered. What I call a courthouse wedding (which is what we did) takes place on the second floor of the Vital Statistics Office and after the ceremony is over, the document gets taken downstairs where all the information is and gets put in the system (that part we didn't have to worry about, like I said, it gets automatically registered). We even went back later and got a certified extract from the records in English, to prove we were married there.

You are right, in no way would you understand that they required the copy to be notarized..blink.png

Glad you worked it out!

B & GFemaleGreece2014-03-22 03:14:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2013 I-130 Filers

So, we just received a hard copy of the RFE, and to say I am confused, would be an understatement.

This is what the letter says:

So I guess my question is, that since they mention birth certificates and documents that prove that my husband was legally free to marry, is the marriage certificate the only thing we have to send them since that's bold and underlined or am I missing something?
This whole thing is so infuriating because I know for a fact there was a perfectly legible copy of our marriage certificate in the original packet  ranting33va.gif

I think I might be able to help..

MARRIAGE CERTIFICATESubmit a legible copy of the marriage certificate for the petitioner, X, and the beneficiary, Y. The certificate must indicate that after the marriage ceremony, it was registered or recorded by the appropriate civil authority as noted below.

From the above sentence I understand that what they want is proof you have legally registered your marriage in Estonia. I don't know how things work in Estonia but I'll give an example:

We got married in the US, at our county courthouse and they were the ones that forwarded our marriage certificate to the Vital Records Division of Maryland, to be registered.

In Greeece, had we been married there.. After our marriage licence was signed by priest/mayor, I would have to physically take it to my local registry office for it to be legally register and reported to the Greek Government.

How is a marriage officially registered/reported in Estonia??

Hmmm....

You're not talking nonsense at all.

I'm gonna take a look into that!

There might be a couple in June, but to my knowledge it's not even close to half, let alone the majority. June recorded 42 transfers to NSC between roughly Dec 17-27, and there have been 13 approvals (31%) so far, 6 of which were in February.

I will take your word for BOS_LHR. I know you are on top of the stats for those months. I'm just trying to find some logic in the NSC delays.

Basically searching for a rainbow in a craphole..

B & GFemaleGreece2014-02-28 10:03:00
IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsSeptember 2013 I-130 Filers

I will throw this out there and see if it makes sense to anyone... but how many of the june and july filers that are still waiting at NSC have filed a I-129F along with I-130?

Could it be that NSC is waiting for both files to be at their offices before approving files?

I know that a couple of aug filers had delays because of the I-129f.

I don't know if its related, but as I said.. just a thought to mull on.

Feel free to tell me to shut up if im talking nonsense!!

I don't have any reasons to have my case expedited. http://www.uscis.gov...pedite-criteria

But I did get transferred already. To NSC.

First come, first served? At USCIS? Nah, that's just a myth!

Just dropped by to see how the Sep filer transfers are coming along.. and then i saw where you got transfered! That sucks Blueberry, honestly! I will be sending positive vibes to the universe that you will have an approval in max 2 weeks!!!

That goes to all members that are sent to NSC.. hang in there guys!!

Would be great if there was a thread devoted just to coming on a VWP while processing I-130/I-129. Thanks for your feedback! Looking into it!

VWP here, just like your husband. Though we haven't filed the I-129F, just the I-130 I have travelled twice since we filed our petition. Our PD is 08/14 and I visited my husband in Sep 2013 for 3.5 weeks and again end of Jan 2014 for 12 days.

Never had a problem at POE, (Washington Dulles). I live with my parents also, the the paperwork I carry with me is:

- Letter from employer with dates of my leave

- My work schedule ( I work shifts)

- Mobile bills, bank account statements, car insurance account as they all show my address in Greece.

- Travel Insurance for the days I am staying.

- Photocopy of NOA1

And i have yet to use any of it and I've generally made 2-3 trips a year to the US since 2011.

I say give it a shot!
