Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionHow many March VSC to CSC transfers approved?
I applied in early August(actually sent my app in late July) of 2008 and I was transferred on March 02, 2009, but nothing so far.

Should I be concerned? The only thing that's keeping me away from calling them is that I'm a divorce-waiver filer and I dont know how long takes them for waivers.

Any advice will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hello,

Sorry to hear that you're going this difficult process but things will be ok. I filled a waiver as a divorcee in August and just got a letter saying that my case is being transferred to the local District Office, and a segment of the letter talked about what type of evidence they're looking for- which I think you can make use of.

When you appear for the interview, in addition to this notice, you must bring evidence to prove that the marriage through which you gained your conditional residence status was entered into in good faith. This evidence may include, but is not limited to, joint bank accounts, joint leases, joint martgage, insurance policies, cancelled checks, joint bills, children's birth ceritificates, income tax returns, wills, affidavits from acqaintances, photos, etc. If you are applying under one of the exemption provisions, bring evidence to support your claim.

Hope that helps. Please ask if you have any more questions and keep us updated.

Thank you so much for sharing your letter with me - it is extremely helpful, you have no idea. Would you mind if I messaged you personally to ask the details of your situation?

Not a problem.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChange of Address ???
Hi DC Sparrow,

From personal experience I would advise you to file a physical AR-11 also. I changed my address on october online, got the confirmation letter and thought it was all good. But then yesterday, I got a letter from them saying that I need to file it on paper, and also included was my case update letter that was sent to my old address in May.

Although they say you can just file it online, they do not seem organized enough about it. So if you have the time and energy, send them a completed form as well.

Just a suggestion. Good luck with everything.

It will be just the same as your biometrics for conditional gc. Mine was around 3pm and there was no line. Do not forget to take your id, gc, letter of extension, and biometrics appointment letter. Also, they require that you turn off your cell phone when you get in...if you get a phone call while you're there they will make you come back.

Hope that helps, good luck.

Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussionquestion about interview waiting time
I just wanted to ask if anyone knows how long it takes them before they send you the interview appointment, after they send you the letter saying that your case has been transferred.

I dont neccessarily mind the waiting I'm mainly asking because my lease just ended and I want to move into a new place...also want to travel abroad to visit my family.

So please share your experiences, is it a matter of weeks or months?

Thank you!

QUOTE (andreamal @ Jun 11 2009, 09:32 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
i'm new to this forum and my timelines are similar to yours. received transfer letter from VSC to CSC on March 20th and did an inquiry May 14th. Case is still pending despite seeing other individuals with same timeline getting approved. due you think this means we will be called in for interviews at local office or will they eventually get to our files?

You never know with these people, thier approval timelines are not consistent. It seems to me they are currently working on the files submitted in fall 08 to VSC then tranferred to CSC. I cant say for sure that it's being forwarded for an interview but since people who have had to wait for too long ended up getting and RFE or Interview, be prepared for either one.

So I called USCIS today to see what's up with my file. It's been 10 months now and I havenot recieved anything after the email stating that my application was tranfered to CSC in March 2.

I spoke to a national USCIS person who told me that my file was sitting in aisle A117 or something (I forgot the exact number). Since 10 months is outside of the processing window, she is going to submit an inquiry request and gave me a service #. She says they should get back to me with an answer within the next 45 days.

Has anyone gotten anything like this before? Is it worth waiting to hear from? I mean the reply for the inquiry...

did you get a response to ur inquiry request? i have made the same, still didnt hear any thing yet.

Yes, I called them on June 3rd, and I got the letter on June 10 from my local District office saying that they recieved a reques on the status of my case. And they gave me an update of "you case is pending for interview schedule." But in between I got a letter from CSC saying that my case was sent to the local office, this letter was dated May 18 and maild to my old address. I had updated my address online in October but that did not do it so I sent them a complted form AR-11 yesterday, upon thier request.

Hope you get your update, and approval soon.

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionChanging address with USCIS while living overseas
QUOTE (Lappa @ Oct 16 2008, 01:13 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
I don't think you need to change your address because you are residing overseas. I don't understand why you need to change your address. Do you have to file for something?

I had a similar situation in that I was unable to switch my address from a foreign one to a domestic one using the website because of zipcode issues. I had to write the service center processing the case. I never heard back from them and was told on the phone that the only way I could confirm that the change had occurred was to go to my local USCIS office. It appeared that it hadn't been changed and the woman there called and requested they do it. Then, to confirm after I went home it I just kept calling the number given on the website until I got someone competent enough to know how to check to verify my address.

Anyway, I still can't believe that the computer system for an immigration authority can't handle foreign zipcodes, but I guess that's the government for you...

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionSpellin Error and Address Change Reports Not Confirmed
QUOTE (birdlover2008 @ Oct 19 2008, 03:52 AM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
Hi All,

I got my NOA1 on Oct. 9 and realized that they had misspelled my first name under were it says petitioner's name and then misspelled my last name under the small box to the right corner confirming the payment. So I called an reported it on the phone the next Monday but I have not heard anything from them yet, saying that they got my request to fix the spelling error. However, my name was spelled correctly on my biometrics notice. I did my bio on sept. 11 and mentioned it the lady that did my fingerprints. Her answer was that if it is correct on the bio notice then "not to worry about it". But I realize that the waiting time is between 9-11 months, which means I could be using my extension letter as a gc for a while now. Should I push for another copy of an extension letter with corrected name spelling.

And, I moved to a new place in Oct and I changed my address online. But I have not received any confirmation from them saying that my address has been changed....that worries me.

Please advice. Thank you!

You can verify the change of address by calling the same number that they give for changing the address. It's been awhile since I did this, but I believe the number I called was the USCIS customer service number: 1-800-375-5283. The first few times I got a person who claimed that they couldn't verify my information, but eventually I got through to someone who knew how. Ask for an immigration officer. I think some of the people working the lines are just hourly staff who aren't sure how to do anything but enter the info. They should be able to confirm your name too.

ok you're in, no preliminary visas here so nessa is in too. easy.

Only one question before Charles reaches the Don Cherry level of Canuckdom. Explain any two of the following (most Canucks don't know these so if you don't get it maybe some of my fellow Canuckleheads will help):

1. Polar Sea and/or Manhattan
2. Dammit, Les, you pissed on my rug!
3. Manicouagan Fu**-You Call (this one's too easy)

*wondering how many people are going to answer one of these or all three?*

1. Canada regards the Passage as lying within its territorial waters, while other nations (especially the United States) regard it as an international waterway. The result is a long-simmering dispute between Canada and the U.S. on the question of Canadian sovereignty. Canadians were incensed when Americans drove the reinforced oil tanker Manhattan through the Northwest Passage in 1969, followed by the icebreaker Polar Sea in 1985, both without asking for Canadian permission. In 1970, the Canadian government enacted the Arctic Waters Pollution Prevention Act, which asserts Canadian regulatory control over pollution within a 100-mile zone. In response, the Americans in 1970 stated, “We cannot accept the assertion of a Canadian claim that the Arctic waters are internal waters of Canada.... Such acceptance would jeopardize the freedom of navigation essential for United States naval activities worldwide.” A compromise of sorts was reached in 1988, by an agreement on “Arctic Cooperation,” which pledges that voyages of American icebreakers “will be undertaken with the consent of the Government of Canada.” However the agreement did not alter either country’s basic legal position. In January 2006 David Wilkins, the American ambassador to Canada, said his government opposes Stephen Harper's proposed plan to deploy military icebreakers in the Arctic to detect interlopers and assert Canadian sovereignty over those waters. http://en.citizendiu...rthwest_Passage

2. While in office, Pearson resisted U.S. pressure to enter the Vietnam War. Pearson spoke at Temple University in Philadelphia on April 2, 1965, while visiting the United States, and voiced his support for a negotiated settlement to the Vietnam War. When he visited U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson the next day, Johnson strongly berated Pearson. According to Canadian legend, Johnson grabbed Pearson by the lapels, shook him, and shouted "Dammit, Les, you pissed on my rug!" Pearson later recounted that the meeting was acrimonious, but insisted the two parted cordially. After this incident, LBJ and Pearson did have further contacts, including two further meetings together, both times in Canada. (Canadians most remember the Pearson years as a time Canada-U.S. relations greatly improved.) http://www.canadianc...B.-Pearson.html

3. ?

I am obviously bored at work and did a bit of googling... biggrin.gif

No need to whisper, we all know now!!!!

Does anyone remember when they would have the book thing in elementary school - can't remember the name of the company that was selling the books.

Anyway you would take the catalogue home and choose books and get the money from the parents then take back your order form and a couple of weeks later the books would arrive.

I LOVED that whole process and the books, it was like the regal catalogue of the kids book world.

Some books just arrived from Amazon which made me think of it smile.gif

Well there is this about Aquarius, my other Sister is one - she thinks it's pretty accurate (she says she can only find her halloween socks - but she did remove the bells off them)

Firstly, you can't tell an Aquarian anything - they already know! In fact, they are the know-alls of the zodiac. They are original, inventive and very smart. They are very peculiar in the way they dress. Wearing footy(football) socks with a suit could be quite normal! They are nearly always late arriving anywhere because time means nothing. The telephone is their lifeline so they would rather ring their next-door neighbour than fraternise over the fence. They are so friendly even the dog down the street will find its way to the Aquarian house...and stay.

Being patient with people, make them good teachers, and are always willing to learn something new. But are they willing to go out and earn a living? Some are, many are not. These people can be extremely eccentric in the way they dress or the way they live. They make a point of being 'different' and they can usually feel very unsettled and uneasy if made to conform, even outwardly. Their restless, skeptical minds mean that they need an alternate kind of lifestyle which stretches them mentally.

Except for never being on time and being eccentric, that's Derek to a T. He drives me crazy because he has to be places so friggin' early. I keep telling him it's just as rude to be too early as too late but perhaps that's because I am always bloody late! laughing.gif

Lord, you sound like Derek! Last night I cleaned all my good jewelry - wedding ring, engagement ring, great-mothers ring, etc. Anyway, normally I would let them all dry on the counter, but I knew that Calvin would start messing with them if I left them out so I put them on a paper towel and put it up on the highest shelf in the kitchen. Fast forward to this morning as I am running out the door to work and am looking for my rings. I run into the kitchen, reach up to the shelf and no paper towel! helpsmilie.gif At this point I know 2 things, Derek is a neat freak and he also cleaned the cat litter out before he left for work. So I am freaking out thinking the towel and the litter have been thrown down the garbage chute and I am going to have to go through 100 apartments worth of trash to find my jewelry. Long story short, he fortunately threw the towel out in the kitchen trash and had not taken that to the trash room with the litter, phew! But I still ended up dumping out all the trash on the kitchen floor and pawing through it at 7:45am. And of course this is all his fault. laughing.gif

laughing.gif Ours is not but I bet you could. I think they are a lot like kudzo in that you can plant them almost anywhere and they will then take over the world.

Saw some people driving with the windows fully covered in snow and ice last week-end...going 10 mph in a 45 pmh zone and making everybody break for no reasons.... blink.gif

Oh God, don't even get me started on the complete and utter idiots who don't bother to clean off their cars before driving and therefore have whole friggin' sheets of ice and snow blow off on the car behind them while doing 75 mph. And don't give me any of the "Ooooh, I am too short to reach the top of my car so I can't clean it off" #######. If I can go out and get a nice extendable snow brush then so can you! Or buy a shorter vehicle. ranting33va.gif

OK, I feel better now. laughing.gif
