this is quite old but it sounds like nothing much has changed...

http://www.visajourn...ce-certificate/

one person says 6-8 week and i think it is the last poster that says they got an interview date 10 days late. if you received the form in packet 3 then it shouldnt delay you i dont think.

:bonk: DOH! We only thought we had done our homework! When he received the one he requested from NZ he commented on how it was in letter form and didn't look as official as the one from the UK. That link explains why. Thank you for the link. The embassy has logged packet 3 and then sent him the form. He filled it out and put it back in the mail today. He did next day delivery, but missed the first post so the embassy should have it by Tuesday. Hopefully they will process it all soon. I feel better just knowing some sort of time frame. Thank you again.

Adam just received a letter from the embassy with a form to be filled outand sent back. It apparently was a release so they could obtain a police certificate direct from New Zealand. Has anyone else encountered this? We have no worries about the certificate (he worked for the police in NZ and has a clear certificate) our only concern is if this will hold up/ slow down progress. We are waiting on an interview date and I wonder, will set the interview before receiving the certificate?

Just in case someone else is wondering, they e-mailed him and told him everything is in his file. When he is called to the documents window he is supposed to tell them all of the documents are in his file and they said that no other action is needed . :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSent originals with packet 3
When we were getting packet 3 ready form DS-156k stated "The following documents must be attached in order to apply for a fiance nonimmigrant visa" and then proceeds to list the items.
(Example)My link We sent the originals with packet 3. When packet 4 arrived the link said he needs to take originals to the interview. The lady at the info line said that happens all of the time and told Adam to e-mail before his interview next Tuesday so they can let him know if it will be a problem. We are waiting for their reply.

Has anyone else done this? If so, was it a problem for you? We are so close and we would hate to have any more delays. Info from others with past experience with this would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks :)

Hey all, I'm looking for people with similar experiences or that can help me get in touch with the right people?

My fiance is from the UK (Scotland). His visa interview was on Monday and he was approved pending his medical. His medical was earlier this month and it all went well except for that they said he needed to get a psychiatric exam, which means he has to find a private psychiatrist to do the exam for him.

He cannot find a psychiatrist anywhere. There are some in London but the figures are looking like upwards of $1000US dollars to get it all finished. Is this for real? Has anyone else run into it? His GP referred him to a psychiatrist in Aberdeen but that was 2 weeks ago and he has heard nothing from either of them.

Do anyone know if there is a time limit to get his medical papers in for the visa to still be good? They approved the visa on October 19, so how long to do we have to get the medical in before we have to start over again? Also, the visa is only good for 5 months or so, right? Did that time start on Monday or will it start when he gets the visa in his hands?

Thank you for any of your input.
I'm freaking stressed out and sick of all of this. It's one of those days where I'm just crying and screaming and can't handle it anymore.

I mentioned this to my SO, who lives in England, and he can't imagine it would be $1000 to do this. My advice: Have him call the GP or the psychiatrist back to see how soon he can get in or what the status is.

Have you an idea of what would have prompted this request? It's ok if you don't want to say, of course, but I'm just wondering if it was one of the check boxes on the medical questionnaire.

Take care, hang in there, and make some calls.

Thanks so much for your advice.

Yes, we know why the doctor requested it. It's just a very huge pain and no one's really telling us how we're supposed to go about doing this. It's really frustrating being asked to do something then being shoved out of the way with not a clue of what to do.

My letter from HR was also faxed to me. To back it up, I'm bringing some recent pay stubs to the interview.

I wouldn't think he needs your birth certificate, but copies of your passport pages showing your visits (if any post filing I-129F) could help to prove the ongoing-ness of your relationship.

Thank you very much on that. I will send him my fax of my verification and also send him several of my pay stubs. smile.gif

About the birth certificate...I didn't think he needed it either but while researching I kept coming across things saying he would need it. I know he needs an original of his, but mine? I dunno, he's already got a copy of mine in his duplicate of the K1 petition.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsQuestions about documents for Interview - Oh please help :)
Alright, hello everyone. smile.gif

Now I've done countless forum searches and google searches on this stuff and I need some straight answers and all in one place. I apologize if this is another redundant post and also if it's in the wrong forum. On that note, I would GREATLY appreciate any help at all in answering these questions. Thank you! smile.gif

To clear it up, I am the US citizen and I am petitioning for my fiance in the UK. These questions pertain to the documents that I must send him that he will take with him to his interview.

1. Do I need to send him my birth certificate? If so, will a copy suffice or must it be the original?

2. My employment verification letter was faxed to me at work from the higher-ups in the company. It is also signed. Will this suffice or will I have to call them back and request them to mail me a NON copied letter? I am concerned because although it is signed, it has been faxed....is that still ok or not?

3. My w2 forms were also faxed to me. They are scans of the official documents, but not the *originals*, is this ok?

5. For my I-134 I have my (1) tax returns (2 years) (2)W2 forms (2 years) and my (3) Employment Verification Letter. Is a statement from my bank REQUIRED? If so, must my fiance have the ORIGINAL or will a COPY suffice?
(I only have past 2 years because I did not file before that)

6. I understand that I must have a letter stating why I did not file taxes in 2006. Can I write this myself or must I contact the IRS and get a statement from them? Must it be signed? If so, will a COPY suffice or must I send my fiance the ORIGINAL?

7. My brother is sponsoring us. He also has the same documents as I listed in number 5 (except he has the past 3 years), will he also need a bank statement?

8. My brother is sponsoring us. Will he need to write a letter stating that he opts to co-sponsor and sign it? If so, can you show me an example of what this letter should look like?

OK you guys I think that's it.
Again, I apologize if these questions have been addressed. I can promise you that I've forum searched this stuff and googled it and there are too many varying answers.
Please answer in as much details as you possibly can, I am trying to do my best to not mess up on this.

Thanks! smile.gif

Well, this is disappointing...

When I got home from work yesterday, I had a letter from my congressman waiting for me. I eagerly opened it, only to find the following inside:

On your behalf, my office contacted the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) and asked them to please provide us with a status update on your case. We also requested that they keep us informed of progress made in this matter. My office received a response to our inquiry notifying us that USCIS records indicate that your I-129F petition was received on March 27, 2009. The USCIS is currently processing I-129F petitions received on or before November 28, 2008.

The USCIS noted that it is impossible to predict how long it will take before the processing is complete. They will contact you directly as soon as the process is complete or if they require additional information.

I understand that this must be very difficult for you, however the USCIS must follow all U.S. Laws and regulations related to adjudicating visa and immigration cases. Although this information is not as complete as we had wanted, I hope you will find this information helpful.

So in response to a Congressman's inquiry, USCIS provides no information beyond what could be found on their website. CRIS indicates no "touches," so most likely they didn't even bother pulling the file to check the status. INFURIATING!

That is pretty ####### really. :/
November 28th? Seriously?

I wonder...how hard is it to hire a few extra people to expedite jobs? I would love to be a caseworker. I would be a speedy one too! Grr.

This whole process has really made me start thinking about looking into just becoming a UK citizen and moving to Scotland. I can bet that it's much much easier than all this hooplah.

I get so frustrated at the U.S. It really isn't all it's cracked up to be sometimes.

Apologies for my bad attitude. I just got back from the airport. Having to say goodbye has to be one of the most painful things I've ever done in my life.

Each day that passes is another day closer at least.

If your fiance's case is now at the London embassy, you do not have a petition pending at USCIS—it's already been approved. You don't need to notify them of your change of address.

If you've moved prior to AOS, you'll simply use the new address on the AOS paperwork.

Thank you! I thought something like this would be the case but it was hard to find anything that related to mys pecific situation. smile.gif

I (the USC) changed my address mid-process using the online change of address (what looks like the AR-11) and had no issues. They sent me a confirmation by mail to the new address within a couple of weeks - had they not, I would have called to confirm.

https://egov.uscis.g...i/go?action=coa

When you're at the change of address page - one of the options/steps is:

Is this change of address for a U.S. Citizen?
?Yes, this change of address is for a US Citizen <--select this one
?No, this change of address is not for a US Citizen

THEN

Do you have any Applications or Petitions Pending with USCIS?
?Yes, I have one or more Pending Applications or Petitions<--select this one
?No, I do not have any Pending Applications or Petitions

The rest should be pretty obvious...

Thank you. I wasn't sure if our case would be considered Pending, since our files are at the London embassy now and he will be having his interview very soon (don't have date yet).

Also, what would be the case if he has been approved and has his visa, has not entered the US yet, but I move?

So does that mean when he arrives here he will not have to do anything to show the change of address?

What about when we move BEFORE his AOS?
Our visa case will not be pending at that time (since he will have had it, and we'll be married) but it will be before the AOS...does the AR-11 still apply?

Thanks so much, I apologize if I'm not making any sense.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPetitioner Address Change
Does anyone know anything about the petitioner changing addresses before the beneficiary has their visa interview?

I plan on moving within the next 3 weeks. My fiance just sent his Packet 3 off last week, so we'll get his interview date soon. I'm not sure what to do.

I know that there is a form called the AR-11, but from all the research I've done it seems like the AR-11 only applies for those that are inbetween their AOS filing date and their AOS interview.

So, if I am moving and he still has not had his visa interview, who should I notify? Should I notify anyone?

Also, once he gets here we will be moving again, before he applies for his AOS. So how does the notification work there?

I realize this is complicated, but the moves cannot be avoided.

I would REALLY appreciate anyone's personal stories, advice, and help.

Philippinesds-230 question for dcf

Hi everyone. me and my wife will be sending out form ds-230 tomorrow (we're doing dcf), but I have a question with one of the questions

question #30 states "List below all places you have lived for at least 6 months since reaching the age of 16..."

the problem is, since my wife was 16 she has lived in 3 places for less than 3 months. But on the G325a we sent, it didn't say anything about the six months so we put it. So, should we not put the places she lived at less than 3 months and have it look different than the G325a, or should we still include the ones that were fewer than 6 months.

thank you to anyone who helps out with this question.............. we're so close

I would think the information should all be the same, so I would add all the places lived. It's better to have to much information than not enough.

Yes she can just take the NOA2 and manila case number. (that is what my wife used and had no issues along with many other members here) That will allow your fiancee to do the medical at St. Lukes Medical Extension. If they question her, just have them tell them she is doing an advanced medical. The actual appointment letter probably wont come until like 2 days before they say the medical is "scheduled" and a week or so before the actual interview. (that is what happened with our interview appointment letter)

All the other requirements are above.

Also you might want to have your fiancee read the walkthrough here: http://www.visajourn...am-walkthrough/

Thanks for the info. I'll be letting her know that when I call tomorrow. She should recieve the papers I sent on tuesday and then shes planning on going wed to do the medical, so any information is good to have. I had her read thru the medical walkthru just this morning, it's a link everyone needs to read. Thanks for your help.

We received our email from USCIS on Feb 15 that we were approved and it is being sent to NVC. I called on Feb 16 and NVC had already recieved it and gave me the MNL#. I waited a week and never recieved a letter or email from them so I called back and was told that it was mailed out to the embassy on Feb 17 and I still have not recieved the email or letter yet. Is the letter that important to have when going to the medical or can my fiance just take the MNL# and NOA2 copy with her and be admitted inside for the medical?

PhilippinesVisiting Philippines
Returning Balikbayans or former Filipinos may also enter the Philippines without a visa and stay for a period of one (1) year, provided that they have a passport valid for 6 months beyond the intended stay in the Philippines, a roundtrip ticket, and proof of former Philippine citizenship (e.g. old Philippine passport or NSO-authenticated birth certificate). Foreign spouses and their minor children may avail themselves of this privilege if traveling with the Balikbayan.

This comes straight from the Philippines Consulate Website under "VISA" Heading. http://www.philippin...#authentication

Here is the website for the Consulate in HI. http://www.philippineshonolulu.org/

In layman terms, a Filipino, Spouse, and Minor Children, can go to the Philippines and stay 1 year without a visa. After the year you will need a visa tho. My dad is there and has been for over 3 years now, so I think I know a bit. Hope this helps.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresSt Lukes Medical
My fiance has a friend that has told her that she will not pass her medical exam and get her visa since she has a couple bad teeth which need to be removed. I have told her that is nonsense but she is real worried now that she won't be able to pass the exam since she does not have all her teeth. Can someone please shed a little light on this subject as to what exactly the doctors look for and what can keep you from passing your physical. Thanks in advance.

If you kept the empty calling cards you could send them in with dates and times you called. Me and my wife used Yahoo Messenger to talk so I would just save the messages and then print it out after. We didn't get to talk on the phone much cause using the computer is alot cheaper.
