K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresRFEs...how common are they?
I don't have any experience with RFE's (and hope I never do) since our journey has just started. I don't think they are all that common though. If you do everything that is requested of you, then you should be fine.

I think that I sent in a total of 5. Each one was dated on the back with our names, and the names of anyone else in the pictures with us...along with where the pic was taken. In our reply to question 18 on the I-129F, I then went in to a bit more detail about the photos, like a time line of our meeting.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate Inaccuracies
Another problem has popped up. She called the place where her birth was registered and the officer there said that both of her parents and her would have to come in to clear it up. Well her mom may be able to but, her father works all day so that presents a problem. Any suggestions on this one?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBirth Certificate Inaccuracies
My fiancee's birth certificate has an inaccuracy on it. Her father's listed age is 1 year older than it should be and her mother's is 1 year younger than it should be. How much of a problem is this going to be? She contacted someone regarding getting it changed and she was told that she, along with her mom and dad would have to come in to get it fixed. If it's not that big of a deal, we will let it go, but if it's something we need to get cleared up, I want her to get moving on it asap.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresphone call and touched

I called USCIS and then checked the status on-line and it shows the case has been touched. Does it mean someone worked on my case or because of the phone call to USCIS? Any ideas? Thanks!

I would say it is because you called them.

Also, fill in your time line so we know where abouts you are in your process :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-129F fee...??? go up ?
I don' think the believe it will deter people...just like the postal service increasing the cost of stamps...they have a certain budget they have to maintain. I think they have said this increase will speed up the overall process, but I am not sure about that.

Once things are straightened out, CSC's and VSC's times will be similar to each other. That doesn't mean VSC and CSC will be processing as quick as VSC does now though.

Is it possible for a couple to meet in a different country? That would seem to be the most logical way of going about doing it if you can. You can not show any evidence you entered Cuba if you are a US citizen as you are not allowed to.

OP-

I know you've posted a lot of questions in the past yet you failed to date your photos or make a copy of the package. I'm wondering if you read the guides or followed the VJ guide for K1s?

There is a wealth of info there for the consulate & beyond stage as well.

I don't think that is going to be a problem so I wouldn't worry about it. As far as the writing on the back. I wrote my name and her name (along with anyone else in the pic) and where it was taken.

No, it will not affect the application. I just changed my job about a month ago. Of course if it meant a change where you were making less than the 125% above the poverty limit, then it would, but I'm pretty sure you aren't talking about that. ;)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it me or is Vermont now taking FOREVER???
I think it comes down to a more balanced split in where petitions are sent. I believe before the VSC received much fewer petitions than the CSC ever did. That is no longer the case.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresIs it me or is Vermont now taking FOREVER???

Hi all,

I mailed my 129f packet on 7/25/07 to the Vermont Center. I confirmed reciept on 7/27/07...I still haven't received an NOA1 yet!! Am I just being impatient? I see that majority of recent 129f filers received their NOA1's within a week. Now I'm getting worried that I did something wrong! I want to call, but my fiance thinks if I start bothering them now, they will for sure put it at the bottom of the pile!

Any help or advice anyone can give me on this would be appreciated!

Thanks and have a great day! :D

I would say you are being impatient. Right now everything is backed up bc people were trying to beat the increased fees. So now there is this sudden increase which slows things down. Remember, VT is not really a long waiting time either way when you compare it to those who are going or have gone through CSC.

Actually, there didn't seem to be a huge increase in petitions like many people feared.

This is normal. You might not hear another word from USCIS until you get NOA2. Sometimes you get a touch or two in between NOA1 and NOA2 but not always. You have a good 4+ month wait until NOA2. Sit back and relax, it's a long ride.

The added fees mean that instead of taking around 90 days for petition approval, it's now around 120 good.gif sweet huh?
Jamie76MaleThailand2007-09-05 23:35:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNew here first post
Although each petition is different, I think it's fair to say, you are looking at 90 days+ from NOA1 to petition approval or NOA2. It has been more than 90 days in almost every case though. NOA2 to K1 visa will differ from country to country.

i never commented that a letter writing campaign would work. but im not going to begrudge someone doing it.

I don't begrudge the OP for doing it either. Just as I'd hope the OP wouldn't begrudge others for discussing the issue on...you know...a discussion board.

QUOTE
i merely responded to you stating tax payers were paying the USCIS, and that the triple fee increase was specifically to update their system and hire more staff.

And I conceded the point. You win...a cookie! smile.gif

i agree, thats why i said he cant even weigh in on the issue. He has nothing to say on it.

It's a discussion board. Except for trolls I don't see how anyone's opinion is more valuable than another's. FWIW.

Maybe because many here are well over 120 days now and he received his NOA2 in 36 days. I see a little difference in the time...do you, or no? Of course he have give his opinion, but it holds no weight.

I think the current timelines and delays are acceptable considering the massive and daunting task facing the USCIS, DOS, DHS, and FBI. I hope few people will fight to lower overall security and soverignty for a one-time temporal gain.

Good to know someone that received their NOA2 in 36 days can call this "current timeline" acceptable. whistling.gif

Yes the i-797c is the notice of action (NOA1). If you are a July filer, you are looking at anywhere from 4 to 6 months (on average) for approval.

I am so what confused. Do I need to proof that I am having an ongoing relationship? I have much proof of having met my fiance in the last two years, but I am not sure if I am ok with the ongoing. I have been to Italy in May and am returning in October, would my plane ticket in 19 days suffice as ongoing, also My fiance does not have email, we communicate via phone with a sprint calling card that I keep buying a refreshing as it runs out. Will these two pieces be enough.. thanks in advance

thank you

regina shili

For petition you need photos together, boarding passes, hotel receipts, passport stamps to show you have meet in the 2 years prior to filling. For embassy you need proof of ongoing relationship, from time of filling, more visits, more stamps, more boarding passes and hotel receipts, , visists and dated photos are best.letters, email etc phone records can be false so they really even look at that as evidence.

That isn't entirely true. There are numerous people that have not had a chance to take multiple trips to see their SO. They used e-mails, snail mail letters, phone records etc to prove and ongoing relationship with no problem.

I thought they were talking health insurance. I don't think I could add my fiancee as the beneficiary for my life insurance as they ask for a ssn.

Have him do so soon.

Keep all your flight info and take lots of pictures.. make sure the camera is date stamped so they appear on the picture.

Mail him a couple love letters.

Put him on your insurance @ work and save the adjust info from the insurance companys.

Can you obtain phone records from your calling card? Having a calling card in and of itself proves nothing. You need to have evidence you were calling your fiance. The plane tickets are a start, or I should say the boarding passes. Send your fiance letters or cards in the mail. That is evidence they can use for an ongoing relationship.

And how does that work for every day life? The need to communicate in America????? no0pb.gif

Unfortunately, I am running in to more and more cases where individuals speak minimal english. You see this in some of the immigrant neighborhoods in the larger cities mostly, but you do see it elsewhere.
