gosh! our case is not yet received by NVC..wow it's been 2 weeks now since our NOA2! pls hurry up CSC...school opening is Aug. 27.

Same here, we have a notice date of May 11th - "Rhonda" at the NVC line today said that they anticipate a 20 BUSINESS DAY time for file transfer from USCIS to NVC right now. Just keep calling!

Have anyone got Case number yet? We were approved as of 5/2/12 and our case arrived at NVC on 5/7/12 but still waiting for case number to be entered in there system. Its taking forever long :(

NOA2 date of 05/11/12, but NVC still hasn't received our case yet. I'm told from a couple of NOA2 contemporaries that it can take up to 3-4 weeks to get a case number right now. Hopefully sooner, though!

Case still not delivered to NVC yet...another cheeky operator today: "It's just going to frustrate you to keep calling prior to 20 business days. Maybe try waiting till June for your next call". ARGH.

get used to "20 business days" talk hahah you will hear it every time you call NVC for any updates, but dont listen to them, call everyday for a case number!!! good luck but lately its been taking 2-3 weeks to get a case number, the rest goes a little faster! good luck

Cheeky critter that answered the phone last night told me it was currently "AT LEAST 28 BUSINESS DAYS" and that continuing to call could further delay processing of my file! Wow...someone must have spit in his morning Cheerios!

Nonetheless, I am undetered, and will continue to call daily

Wow, a month already? The agency I applied for my PCC only took a week!

Yeah, 34 days to be exact. Not a peep back. So we're just considering that money "down the tubes" and he'll head over to his local Commissionaires office in Edmonton this Friday to try again. Hopefully it'll be a fairly quick turnaround time - he's got a clean record, kind of a square really...but he's MY square!

Thanks to BIT (woo!), I was able to get my file compressed. It came in at 23.2MB, and that was after scanning only in greyscale @150DPI. Damn those tax returns!

AOS paperwork sent early this am for EP. My husband filed for his police clearance letter with his local police office in Edmonton nearly a month ago, and still hasn't gotten it back, so now we're stuck waiting for that.....argh!

Slowly moving along. Chug chug.

Ok Saylin (or any other technical guru!) I need some scanning help.

I scanned in all 42 pages for the I-864, and they come to 24.6 MB. The trick is...I can't seem to get them compressed. I don't have Adobe Acrobat, and I can't download it (shared computer). I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 9, which does not appear to have a PDF compression method.

I did try to download a "free" PDF compression kit, but it had a virus, so yuck.

Not sure what other options there may be.

First off, glad you're okay health-wise! And honestly, that's probably more important than "wasting" days at NVC.

Second, do you have a credit card you can use to send money to your bank account so you pay the bills now?

Well, not ok health-wise yet. Currently laid up with pnuemonia, and still have a pesky portal vein blood clot that will be around for a while. The docs are having a tough time getting my blood thin enough and are concerned I'm still at risk for throwing the clot at this point.

I had to use my credit cards to pay this month's bills (rent, food, etc) - I'm down to a single $20 to last me until the last day of June. I have all my paperwork ready, just no funds. My husband attempted to send me some money from Canada, but apparently Arizona (where I live) has very strict regulations about who, how much and where you can send it, so he has to talk to a supervisor on Monday at Western Union to see what the issue is.

I am totally bummed :(

I had a major health crisis, and it's wiped out all my savings, to the point I had to pawns jewelry to pay the electric company and borrow money from family to pay rent. Bad times. I had hoped that money would be coming in this weekend to bring everything to positive values (and to pay for our AOS and IV paperwork!), but it is not going to happen. Looks like now I have to wait for my next paycheck, which is on the last day of June.

I am so frustrated - called NVC daily, dealt with angry operators, hoped and prayed for a quick case number assignment...and now stuck waiting till July to pay and file. >.<

Alright, so since we got our Case numbers, etc yesterday...

I'm trying to follow the Montreal guide, hopefully it's still good. We sent the opt-in email using the referenced template naming me as the person to receive info. Then we logged on to the referenced portal page and filled out the DS-261. As of right now, unable to pay any bills, no other forms showing as able to be filled out/submitted via EP.

Am I missing anything? I feel so discombobulated by the whole process!

Wooooo! Finally got our NVC case #!

On a side note, I have to agree with others....what is the deal with the nasty NVC operators?! Tonight I waited 32 minutes on hold to speak with this angry woman, she declined to provide her name. She read the case number to me, and when I asked if I could repeat it to verify, she lets out this long sigh....and says "Fine." I ask if I may have the Invoice ID number, and she says, "MA'AM, that case was JUST put in the system, you need to call back in a week at least". I asked for the Beneficiary ID number (longshot), and I get the "MA'AM...I don't even have access to that." Ok then.

You know, when I was younger, I worked for a call center for a major cell phone service provider. Treating my customers that way would have resulted in a reprimand at the minimum.

I would call back again tonight, but I'm afraid I'd want to find a way to shove a frying pan through the phone....

Whatever you decide, you cannot file as single as you are legally married.

So I have a question/concern on this note...

I took my tax stuff to a CPA for my 2011 taxes (my first time, usually I use those HR Block folks), and he filed me as Head of Household, as I provide all support for my daughter from a previous marriage. He said I can't file as married as spouse is not in country, made no US income and has no legal recourse to the US. So my taxes are just me....will this be an issue? I asked the CPA several times, and he even called some IRS CPA hotline and they reconfirmed the Head of Household as correct status for my filing. :help: I don't mean to be a worry-wart, it comes naturally!

"Well, the employment letter and pay stubs are OPTIONAL. They are NOT required. So if you don't have them, you don't need to wait or worry about getting them. As long as you have the I-864 and the tax information, that is all you need."

Thanks, Saylin! Sad to say, but I've gotten consistently more accurate advice from you than I ever did from that POS attorney I paid for 3 consults with in Phoenix...probably should have just paid you instead!

I'll just make sure I have stubs and whatnot to bring with for interview, in case there are questions B-)

Still no case number as of 10:10p Eastern time according to NVC. Operator tells me that 15-20 business days should be allowed from case receipt to assignment of case number...wow! NVC sure has slowed down. Went from 2 months total process time just a few months ago, to (potentially) almost 2 months from NOA2 just to get a case number: 20 business days from NOA2 to receipt at NVC, additional 20 business days from receipt to case number assignment. It boggles my poor little mind :o

On a side note - I have switched employers, and my new employer declines to write an employment letter of any type - against policy. My first full paycheck won't be until the second week of July (I hate twice monthly pay checks, grrrr), so I won't have a full paycheck to show until then. Any thoughts on what would be an acceptable submission in their place, or am I stuck waiting even longer until I have a whole paycheck? If it matters: I had major surgery in April and was off work for 8 weeks, previously worked full time at another job that I DO have employment letter from, but I'm no longer employed with...lol.

I had a feeling that I should call NVC this evening, even though I didn't expect to get a case number for at least another week. So I called, and talked to a very helpful woman. We got our case number and IIN! She reviewed our contact information, and cautioned me not to try and pay anything or do anything until I receive instructions (but of course I'm not going to take her advice on that).

I'm so excited! Things are finally moving!

So NOA2 May 10, NVC case received June 1, case number June 7. Hopefully this means things are speeding up a bit at the NVC. Best of luck to everyone else waiting!

I'm really hoping that our processing will be done soon, it would be nice for my hubby's interview to be scheduled before school starts in mid-August, but I'm thinking that may be too much to hope for. Our NOA2 date was May 11, and NVC just received our case Yesterday (June 4th). Operator said they're currently running 10-15 business days for case number assignment beyond that. It seems we just fell in a very overwhelming time for case transitions and case number assignments :(

I'll be thinking of your case today, saying a prayer that it gets to a number soon!

Is taking away your GC when you get a 551 passport stamp standard procedure or is there a lot of inconsistency between officers on this? Curious to know of others' experience here who have got the stamp.

They did not take away my green card. Mine expires August 12th. I got a six month extension from June to December...i'll likely need another unless by some miracle the NOA1 shows up. But the green card remains with me. Was your expired when they stamped you?

Hello! I have a question for you - I am actually a June Filer as my papers were received June 1st, I have received the NOA, but no biometrics appointment. I see there are still a lot of people waiting for theirs as well. For those of you who have gotten your appointments, how long did it take after the NOA arrived? We filed at the Vermont center fyi.

Thanks!

It seems to be about two or three weeks. Some of us got biometrics appointment letter but no NOA1s....

We went down to the Phoenix office this past week to try to do walk-in biometrics and couldn't get past the security guard. They said they won't take us early.

Hi Vanessa, I went to that office Jun 18th to have my passport stamped as no NOA1 arrived. I asked them about the possibility of doing the biometeric early; my appt is June 28th. The guy made a call and asked but they wouldn't do it because it was Monday and they were very busy. They suggested keeping the appt I have....I thought about possibly going in at another time to see but decided against it thinking without an appt letter they may not let me through security....sounds like this is what happened to you. Mine is Thurs forthcoming, so I'll wait it out. Do you have a scheduled appointment?

Thanks! I'm happy I did get the actual NOA. To answer your question, I'm also confused by the whole thing. I have read and re-read what they mailed and apparently they sent the NOA the first time to my current address (they attached this used envelope) and they claim it was undeliverable!!! And then they re-send it to the same address :o and they include and AR11 form (change of address form) so I can fill it and send it to them!!!!????
I try and try and can't seem to understand their "logic" Hahahaha!
I really hope not only you, but the other two applicants that share our strike of efficiency on USCIS handling mail and updating and unifying procedures, receive your NOA's and above all, that we go through expedite, painless, RFE's and interview free processings. ;) from now on and until we finally get to the point where we get our US passports!!!
:) <3

Did you say they sent two?? Huh? Besides, it appears many people completed AR 11s and the reminder letter went to people's initial addresses; such was the case for us. We submitted a change of address forms (one for me, one for my wife/citizen) a week or less after we moved to our address. The biometrics letter came to the correct address but the reminder didn't. I do hope I get the NOA1 because it really would make things a lot less troublesome, in our case. AND if these guys CAN resend NOA1s why can't they simply resend one once someone calls complaining of not receiving it? I appreciate they are busy but when I look back and count up all the errors made on this journey, I'm struck by how disconnected things appear to be. I can think of at least four errors...on the other hand, it's always sunny in Arizona

/: Sooooo! You're NOT gonna believe what came in the mail today? 2 days before my trip? After performing the following:
-Since my green card took a tour across the entire nation because they failed to register my change of address, and we moved again, I filled for a change of address 7 months before we submitted the Removal of Conditions package.
-A few months after I did that, they sent me a letter reminding me about sending the Removal of Conditions application. Here's the funny part: not to my current address, or the address before that, but to the FIRST address we ever lived in. Thank God it's my mother in Law's and she sent me that letter.
-Terrified that they did'nt register our current address YET AGAIN....I called the customer service, and was told by a representative I should make an info-pass in order to confirm that the USCIS has my current address, because "the application AR-11 you sent, could have been lost in the mail". So I did. I talked to this representative who SAW my information online and confirmed our current address.
-At this point y'all pretty much know the rest of the story: got no NOA 1, so had to make an info-pass, get my passport stamped and did my biometrics early.
AND the frigg'ng NOA1 arrives in the mail today!!!!??????
BUT: the funny part? The sent me an AR-11, so I can properly filled because they claim THEY DO NOT HAVE MY CURRENT ADDRESS!!!! >:/ AND they attached the envelope they used to send it to my CURRENT address with an "undeliverable" stamp on it!!!! :DD
No comments really! I can't make sense of it. Anyways...on the positive side, I am traveling with the NOA and the stamp....just in case...just in case! ;)

Words cannot describe the level of incompetence and lack of integrated work .....i read your note twice and am still shaking my head. soooo did the NOA1 come to your current address or old one? wonder if there's hope for the NOA1 coming here.

There are so many great reasons to never have to deal with what appears to be a dog and pony show. I mean, when I moved here to immigrate, they had the day before on their stamp and it shows that i came the day before I actually got here! left hand doesn't seem to know what the right hand is doing. and yet these are the ones that hold your fate in their hands, at least temporarily.

what a bizarre story. glad you got the NOA1 !!! :bonk:

Removing Conditions on Residency General DiscussionI-751 May 2012 Filers

My feeling is that the intake center doesn't send the letters out in the first place. My reasoning is thus: Most people receive their bio letters with no problem (I have only seen one or two in a few years that miss them). But in this month alone we have 4 or 5 people out of our small pool that didn't get NOA1 letter. Since one item goes missing more than the other, I think the mailroom neglects to send them out.

Who knows....I got all my NOA1s during the I 130 process etc....everything was done very smoothly. The I 751 has this little snag. I have biometrics next Thursday afternoon so that's really when the countdown is on and I don't believe it'll be done in 6 months. That means I need to send off my passport and I 551 stamp to Canada, in around October to ensure I have it back with a brand new passport by December at which time my I 551 stamp expires. They only gave me a six month extention because my passport expired in December. Mind you my green card expires in August. The NOA would have been nice because USICS records shows I've been extended to May 2013. But the stamp follows the validity of the passport instead of following the NOA extension already on file. I'm going to keep a copy of the passport and the stamp and really don't love the idea of sending off the passport but not much I can do given how we can put into these situations by USCIS in the event the NOA isn't received. Once I get a renewed passport I can make yet another infopass appointment and have another stamp. If miracles happen, I'll do the bio June 28th and I'll get the greencard by October saving me from sending in my passport renewal. But that won't happen.

I do enjoy a good rant it seems :bonk:
