K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress ReportsWaiting for a NOA2 from VSC for your I-129F?
Looking at a few people's timelines, it seems it sometimes takes a week or two for them to acknowledge the RFE.

Hi everyone...yes they were working on Thanksgiving as my RFE reply was signed for by P Novak at 11 am on Thanksgiving......sooo....now the waiting game begins again....hoping for a NOA2 soon...however I know others are still waiting from RFEs for their NOA2...good luck everyone.....~Melinda

Delivery companies worked on Thanksgiving? Usually we pay premium money for delivery on holidays and saturdays...otherwise they wait till next business day. Maybe its a system generated email or sth.

Ok, I' starting to worry now...Melinda's send their RFE and was received.....does your status says case resumed???? If it says that then what the hell is wrong with my.....Jesus!!!!!! I'm kinda mad at PAt for not saving that receipt number!!!!!

Ours hasn't been updated either. Sent ours back on the 14th.

Nothing yesterday so hopefully tomorrow! Please!!!! crying.gif
I'm a little bit worried...they said my RFE had to be in VSC on dec 16..... wacko.gif

Mirla,

Why did they say it had to be there by dec 16th? We were given 3 months to have ours in. I thought that was standard.

Thats weird! If im not mistaken, for example going through Colombia with this process, the birth certificate does not need to be translated UNTIL the AOS process....Bill y Bella, am i right or wrong??

As far as I know Bogota does not require the beneficiary's birth certificate to be translated for the interview as long as it is in english or spanish.

However, Jamie received the RFE for a translated beneficiary birth certificate during the I-129F adjudication phase, so his situation is different than your's Byron. You have already cleared that hurdle.

I still think that there must be a unique situation that prompts USCIS to request the beneficiary's birth certificate. I also don't think that the translation is a key factor here. Any non english document submitted to USCIS must be translated.

I was advised to send a translated beneficiary bc with the petition by a non VJ "advisor". However, there was not enough time to obtain if we wanted to beat the price increase and I could find no documentation on VJ that said it was required so I submitted without it.

No clue what that reason was. I had thought of something though. In Thailand, everyone goes by nicknames...and some have the exact same nickname. On some of the e-mails/letters I got from her, she used her nickname...one of her e-mail addresses also uses her nickname.

I noticed on the RFE thread that someone received an RFE for a translated copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate. Here is the post.

Did anyone submit that with their I-129F? I didn't. unsure.gif

Maybe they ask for that if there is some confusion about the identity of the beneficiary or there is a bad guy/girl name match they are trying to clear up.

They received the RFE for not sending a translated copy of the beneficiary's birth certificate. I sent my fiancee's because I had read that sometimes people get RFE's for not sending it. I wanted to be safe. I would not worry about it at this point in time. Good luck!

Yep...I wish we would have done the same or we would have been approved by now. Oh well. Hopefully people will read this at some point and decide to be safe and send their fiance(e)'s translated b.c. in too.

Yes, it's truly stupid why we have to wait for a letter. Send us an e-mail or something, although the way they mess things up half the time people probably wouldn't get it anyway. They should be updating their website soon to include their new motto: "USCIS, we could try harder, but why?"

Sorry about the RFE Mirla. sad.gif I hope it will be something easy and they get it to you quickly.

I do have one question for the group though.... If we can't call the RFE line and ask them about why an RFE was issued, what exactly is the RFE line for? Are they willing to do anything to help someone who has received an RFE?

Nope, I called twice today to find out about the RFE and they wouldn't tell me a thing. It's pretty much a line to let you know you have an RFE. Well Duh! I know I have an RFE! I don't need you tell me that. I want you to tell me what it's for. That's thinking for ya.

Actually, Uncle Sam (U.S.) was a clever term first used to encourage civilians to serve their country. They wanted to give the impression that they were serving their family. Surely you could trust an Uncle right? Not so anymore. And you are correct in your comment that its screwed up because of the family conotation. I used this term in my previous post as a sarcastic quip. Guess it didnt come off that way. And I totally agree that family based visas should be the highest priority. I agree with almost every complaint about this whole process. I just wanted to address the friction between so many members lately. not only in this thread. But it seems to be getting tense in here....

Amen. I know for one, I've been on edge. Sometimes though, things get taken the wrong way in places like these, and with all the anxiety etc that comes with the process, it makes a bad combination.

Cuteprice:
It is funny that you mentioned, "vast scrap yard in the middle of a desert." As a matter of fact, when I called USCIS the other day to check my status the person I worked for was based in New Mexico. He said he was just a customer service rep and they were out there. I couldn't help but to reflect back when some of us "newbies" got into it with the vets who jumped up in down in their post to us saying when we called customer service we were delaying our NOA2 because it was adjudicators we were speaking with. Well, I was right of course...when you call the customer service number, you do not get adjudicators in VSC...as a matter of fact, you get someone all the way in New Mexico who has no clue exactly what is going on with your package other than it is at VSC. Having said this, I must admit that it is possible when you do the "RFE Trick call" maybe you do speak to an adjudicator. I would like to know. For whoever uses the RFE trick next time ask them at the end of the call where they are located and if they are an adjudicator. Good luck all![/quote]

Yep, the guy I spoke with yesterday doing the RFE trick was pretty clueless. I got more information from the automated guy you hear when you first call.

Take a look at this...I know many of us actually began writing our senators, congressmen, and others a couple months ago. Little too late for us individually, but luckily it should help some after us. I am sure this is the BS we will hear if we reach the 6mo mark and they have to extend it...they will say they are working to improve it. Well, I say keep up the fight...getting more people in Vermont in December will not help us personally very much. We need better service NOW.

Since USCIS is now under the umbrella of DHS, why don't we all just flood letters to Chertoff's office and try and get some damn answers?

A couple hundred (okay that's probably a stretch but still) letters going "hey what's the deal give us information" can't be readily ignored. Right? Right.

You would do more by saving your time and energy and just focus on your SO then worry about the USCIS and DHS. They don't care how many letters they get...even if they did, they would have to do investigations in to why there is a slow down etc etc which would take longer than the time it will take to be with your SO. Sad truth. I'd love if it was possible to write some of these people and get results, but it doesn't happen these days.

I don't know about you, but I find it hard to focus on my fiance when she's in another country, and I cannot afford to go see her.

Besides, anytime I start thinking about her, all I do is think about how she's not here with me, and why the government won't go any faster, etc. So yeah, I don't see that helping at all.

We all miss our love one(s), but if you think writing to them is going to make a difference, then by all means...
