Just a quick question, do I need to attach a passport photo to the ds230?? I am trying to get it mailed today.. and everywhere there seems to be different information!!

Mixed messages regarding the tax forms!

Hi HumanUnit.

They did change it that you only need to file one. However, you may want to check the Embassy where your interivew will take place. My husband is going to Turkey, and they still request three.

I just feel like sitting here at my desk and crying. I was hoping for some good news for our 2 year wedding anniversary... but it doesn't look like it will happen.

I just did a search on AP, and it looks like this may be a long wait. He said call back in a 'couple' weeks for an update. I guess I will just hang in there and see what happens.

Hi Aussiewench!! The NVC recv'd both the 1-864 and the DS230 the same day. Sorry I always get those confused!!

I guess all the paper work is done on my end. Just playing the waiting game now.

I think I will try calling at lunch and maybe speak with someone.

The NVC recv'd our papers on April 25, 2006. They recv'd both the I-864 and the DS3032 on the same day.

I keep calling the NVC and all it says is " The NVC has recv'd your documents on April 25, 2006 please allow 6-8 weeks to process and notify you of the outcome"

Don't they usually say something like "we have recv'd your i-864..." something like that? Or is this the standard message?

Just at the final steps and the closer I get the more worried I become. :wacko:

Okie Dokie. I am mailing all my papers to my husband tomorrow for his CR1/IR1 interview. Here is what I have so far, can you think of anything I might be missing??

Yes he has the important stuff

like the marriage certificate. However the consulate has the orginals of all the documents which they should return at the interview. I did scan him copies of the I-864 and the NOA1 and NOA2 for the I-130. Now I will try to scan some of the evidence that I have like phone cards and plane tickets. :thumbs:

I am going to try to scan everything, the calling cards, plane tickets etc. That is the only option that I have right now. I will send a letter with it showing the emails from DHL regarding this package. He has alot of our evidence so maybe that will be enough

Ok, here is what happened with DHL... ugh

I mailed the package on 5/25/06 marking it documents, no value. It left on the 26th...made it wilmington oh and thats it.

I called and spoke with about 15-20 people even found the number to the wilmington office. They said customs had it.. so I asked that they mail it back because as of the 1st there isn't enough time for him to get it before he leaves to turkey. I got the package back yesterday and scanned his interview letter and emailed it to him, so he has that at least. I called DHL back and was told that whoever had the package must not have known that the ban was lifted on Iran 3 weeks ago... which means that someone sat on this package and it wasn't customs for 6 days. They had ripped the package open, all of my documents were out of order and inside the package was a letter from DHL saying that Iran is a restricted area. So!! I then sent an email off telling them that it was their mistake and they then said "oh no his name was found on the Office of Foreign Asset Control"...uh huh. So I called that office and she said to look on their webpage and she said there are no names even close to my husbands. So, now DHL was trying to cover up their mistake again.

I have never had a problem with DHL before, but it really IRKS me that all they wanted to do was pass the buck!! Especially when the documents were so very important and they were aware.

Ok, anyone think I should email the consulate and tell them what has happened because some of our evidence was in the package, or should I just scan everything and send it to my husband and let him explain?

It seems funny when I was stressing out about whether to staple my w2s LOL and here I am only 1 week until the interview...

I am also going to have DHL write a letter explaining the situation as well. We have 3 lbs of evidence sitting in customs!

He said that he talked to a guy that worked for the embassy for awhile and he said that he won't even need the letter... but I never trust that, I always want to be sure. I told him to call the embassy and he said no, that if he does they may tell him to reschedule and he loses the $700 for his flight. So he is going to chance it and just show up with all the info. Worse case... he gets a week vaction in Turkey :lol:

I sent all of my copies in this packet to him, never thinking that this would happen. :ranting:

I don't understand if they knew that there was a problem with sending to Iran, why didn't they tell me when I explained what the documents were for?!?!?!

Worse case is he will take this email that came from the NVC. Hopefully that will work.

Hi simple_male!

I checked with the USPS and they don't offer global express service to Iran. DHL is one of the best ones over there. :yes:

I send cards though USPS and they take an average of about 5 weeks.

I just called DHL and they said they are looking into it. I found out where the hold up is with the package and called Wilmington Oh. They said call back at 8a or 5a my time. Called back trans to a supervisor, he said call Dave. Called Dave no answer left a message. Dave called back said call another office. Called that office and they said since it is stuck at customs there is nothing that we can do. However, she said send me an email with all of the information in the package. Done, waiting for a reply.

Called NVC this morning and they said they won't send another appointment letter, but they will send the medical letter. So, that is being sent.

At this point even if we don't get the package he is planning on going to the interview. He will take with him the email that I rec'vd confirming his appt. His ticket and room that cost $700 is non-refundable, so he might as well go in anycase and see what happens.

UGH!! I never thought it would get to this!!

Ugh it just feels like the closer we get the more things are not working the way they should!!

All I can do is pray that they send it through. Alot of our evidence is in that package :crying:

I will call NVC first thing in the morning and ask that they send another packet 4 just in case. Then I will have it scanned and email it to Ali.

Ali went down to his local office in Tehran, and they said that hardly anything was getting through. He told Ali just to have me keep calling.

Thanks for the advice!! We are both going to try and get through to the consulate and ask what we can do as well.

I do have an email from the NVC with his interview information on it, but I am not sure that they would accept it.

I have 8 days, hopefully I can get it taken care of.

I am soo upset right now!! I mailed my husband his package on the 25th and was told by DHL that it would take 3 days. I went through everything that is in the package as well as the DHL guy packaged it. However, since the 26th it has been stuck in Customs! They have no idea when it will be released and even if they did release it back to me, I don't have enough time to mail another package!

This package has packet 4. His interview letter and his paper that he needs to take to his medical.

I called DHL and begged that they do anything that they can. However, I was told, "this happens all the time with Iran". Why didn't they tell me that when I mailed it?!!?!

So, any ideas guys? Maybe I can get the NVC to mail me another package and have it faxed to my husband in Iran?? I can't believe this is happening 8 days before his interview!!!!

I would just keep calling the lawyer...squeaky wheel gets the grease :lol:

Maybe he can send the letter to and you can scan it and email it just to be on the safe side... depending on how long it takes mail to get to your husband.

I couldn't get my husbands interview letter to him, so I had to scan it and email it. It isn't on any kind of special paper or anything, just a bar code on top.

Ok, so yesterday my husband had his interview and didn't get the visa they said they are waiting for FBI checks.

I know the I-130 is valid for 1 year. We sent ours in July of 2005. Next month will be a year..what happens if he gets his visa in Aug past the 1 year mark?

Hi Morocco4ever,

He got a paper that is says (OF-194). It is checked for security clearance and written that they also need my W2 for 2005 (they should have it, but I will resend) He signed the DS230 part 2 as they requested and they swore him in. The CO just said to keep an eye out on the website and when you see your case number showing the security clearance is done come back to the window with your paper and the missing documents and they will issue his visa.

She said that since only 4 weeks have passed before the interview, there wasn't enough time for th security checks to be completed and that they should be done in another 4 weeks. I am just going to hope that she is right and it will be only 4 weeks.

I will just keep praying that when he goes back it truly is done. This will be his 2nd trip to Turkey and he will have to stay another 3 days. I don't want to spend everything we are saving up on waiting in Turkey! Ah but, what can ya do? :whistle:

Morning!! Sorry I overslept this morning. :wacko:

Well Ali called at 12:21 last night and he didn't get his Visa.. the good news is that the interview went well. They said that they are waiting for his FBI name check and it can take 4 weeks to six months.

So we will just have to keep an eye out for his case number on their website. He said that all of the men there got the same thing, but the women got their visas.

He is going to email me what is on the piece of paper that he got. He said it was a blue paper that he has to take back when his name is on the list.
