K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresNeed Some Help!!!
You can apply for work authorization document (EAD) after you're married, usually it takes 60-90 days till you get it approved. So you should be prepared for a few months that you wouldn't be able to work after you come to the US.

The wait for K-1 visa varies, depending on where your fiance lives and what service center it's gonna go through and what embassy will conduct the interview, you can check the processing times here: https://egov.immigra...jsps/ptimes.jsp and get some idea how long it takes to get the I-129f approved. Also check the immigration timelines on this website and the guides and FAQs are very helpfull :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresHi, I'm new and also extremely worried!
Getting all the vaccines done is not a requirement for K-1, so it doesn't matter if he gets all his vaccinations before he moves to the US or not. Although many people prefer to get all the vaccinations in their country because it's usually cheaper than getting them done in the US.

Don't know what to tell you about the embassy locations which would be the right one, in my personal opinion I don't think it will become a problem, but I don't know about such cases so I can't really tell for sure.

It can take up to one month to receive a NOA, so you have nothing to worry about yet :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Procedurespregnancy effect approval?
Pregnancy will not speed it up, and probably won't affect the approval at all, because if you think about it, and I don't mean to offend or suggest anything, I'm just trying to think as an immigration officer looking for evidence, how can you prove who's the father?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresKL, Malaysia Consular - Handing in off documents
Honestly, You did exactly the right thing. I'm sorry you had to have such a grumpy guy at the window. He was truely aweful. Unfortunately that's what happens to alot of people who deal with the "public" as part of their job. But by clarifying and asking questions you did exactly what needed to be done. Stay positive, stay focused...and don't let this guy bring you down cause I guarantee you he's not bothered one bit by his actions. Good luck to you at the interview and I hope you post your results!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresstupid question hahahah
I remember reading somewhere that they do not want staples. So I used paperclips. The only thing I staples was the clear plastic bag that held the photo to a sheet of paper then paperclipped that paper to the appropriate G-325A form. Hope that helps! Good Luck with your journey and nothing wrong with being #######! LOL

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresK-1 Application details
I am very positive that a person's signature can look like ANYTHING so long as it always looks the same. Chicken scratch is fine...so long as it's the same chicken scratch everytime. As far as the picture I'm not sure what's needed for the k-1 visa but for the k-3 which is the same application I -129F form I sent a frontal view of the face in a passport size photo. One for myself and one for my husband. I'm sure if you check the guides you can find the exact information for your k-1 process detailed. Good Luck!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I marry now or wait?

I'm trying to figure out how he got hired in the US without papers..........

He posted his resume to the company and they asked him to come in for an interview. They know it will be awhile before he really goes to work for them. But is an open invitation. He is good at what he does...

Where do you guys plan to live?

Arizona

Need some input as what I should do? (as we all are) A short history of our relationship. Been dating for over a year, met each other in person in Dec 2005, I introduced him to my family and everything was great. Then in Feb he came back for job interview and got the job. Made plans to hook up in person again in June, in the UK, so I could meet his family, but because he got the job, we decided to meet in May. So now I am here in the UK and met his family. Everything is great (like I knew it would be) But now my question is, should we get married while I am here or should I go back to the states and start from scratch?

Would apprieciate any and all input
good or bad...

Thanks for everything

Right, I was in the same boat as you. But unfortunately, it isn't that easy to just get married in the UK anymore. You will have to go back to the states and get a visitor for marriage visa. I had to do that in order to get married myself. The registars office wont even touch you until you have that visa stamped in your passport. Once you come back from the states with that visa, you then have to wait an additional 7 days to take up residence and you will have to provide proof of that as well. Once the 7 days is up, you may then go and make your announcement with the registars office, then you will have to wait an additional 15 days before you can get married. I hope this helps. Best of luck.

I forgot to add, you may go online from the UK and apply for your visa and then make an appointment to turn in all documentation that will be needed. You will need proof of financial support, any divorce decrees, bank statments. You will not be able to stay in the UK and wait for the visa. You must be in the US. The reason being, the customs in the UK need to see that and stamp it with entry date. Also, when you make your appointment at the British EMbassy in the states, it would be better if you goto say California or Washington I believe because they have appointments right away where as NY office you have to wait until they open up the dates for each month. I had to wait a month before I could even make my appointment.

Best of luck..

Laura and Ian Mitchell

Yep, we just figured that out and was disappointed, but will survive. Am having a great time in England, with Arsenal in the playoffs, I think?? But am enjoying this new sport footie  We have decided to go with a immigration lawyer. I am horrible with paperwork. and would be messing them up, which would mean delays. Will post as to how that turns out... wish me luck

thanks for alll your info was very helpful and I really do apprieciate it... :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresBenificiary birth certificate

to piggyback lorelle's comment ....

your BC is only needed to as proof of US citizenship ... you can also provide a full copy of your passport (every page needed - even the blank pages)
your fiance(e)'s BC will be needed when they attend their interview at the embassy.

I can't see your posts is there something wrong with me? They are all blank :(

And now I can't see mine in the one above. :hehe:

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresOMG How dumb!!

I did something about as dumb. I sent the wrong amount for the fee. They returned it 11 days later and like yours, was all shuffled and pics stapled to forms etc. I re-sent it the next day with the right amount and received my NOA1 4 days after they received it. Good luck!

Well maybe we will get a fast NOA1 too!

I can't believe we missed something!! Casey did not sign one page and our petition got sent back to him!!
On the bright side it was his signature not mine so he can sign it and get it off, and it was only a signature not anything major.

They reorganized stuff and put pictures in an envelope, stapled our passport pics together. Kind of interesting since they say no staples.

So now we are a week behind. I am remaining calm and orderly though. :D

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWedding Guest

cristy,

"Certain" countries? Try most countries.

Canada is a very special and unusual case, and there are only a dozen or so VWP countries where most citizens do not need visas, but it's a big world out there.

Cameroon is not Canada, nor is it a VWP country.

Yodrak

Color me confused. Does this type of 'evidence' only pertain to certain countries? Because I know we can cross the boarder to go to a wedding, a vacation...whatever with no need to prove anything.

Well I do know it is a big world I was just not aware there was so much red tape involved.

Yes, be sure to read Christy's post above for detailed explanation of how to assemble your package.

I am pondering the importance of this. We did just like the checklist said and when it came back to us it was in a totally different order with staples in it.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresLet me get this straight...
Nowhere does it indicate photos of children are required.

1. Payment as documented here. Use a personal check so you can track the payment.
2. Cover Letter (see example). Should include a description of what your are petitioning for (I-129F), a table of contents (list everything in the packet). If you need additional room to explain your case, attach a separate sheet (list the attachment on the cover sheet). Make sure to sign and date the cover sheet.
3. Form I-129F: Petition for Alien Fiance(e) (see example)
4. Declaration of how you met in person in the last two years. This should be a single typed page regarding question 19 of the I-129F. Make sure to sign and date it.
5. Letters (from both the US Citizen and foreign fiance) certifying an intent to marry within 90 days of entering the US on a valid K-1. (see example)
6. Proof of having met in past two years. (click here for examples)
7. G-325A (all four pages) filled out by the US Citizen signed and dated (see example)
8. One passport-type photo (see note) of the US Citizen. Write the full name of the US citizen on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of <Insert US Citizen's Name>". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a.
9. G-325A (all four pages) filled out by the foreign fiance(e) signed and dated (see example)
10. One passport-type photo (see note) of the foreign fiance(e). Write the full name of the foreign fiance(e) on the back. Place in a plastic bag and label the bag "Photo of (insert foreign fiance(e) name) ". Attach the bag to a sheet of paper and place behind the corresponding G-325a.
11. Copy of the Birth certificate (front and back) for the US Citizen or a copy of ALL pages of the US Citizen's passport or a copy of a naturalization certificate. This is used to establish citizenship.
12. Copy of Divorce Decree(s) or Certificate(s) for the US Citizen and/or foreign fiance(e) if either has been previously married.
