The amount he needs in his bank account/savings would also depend on what his annual income is.

If he can't meet the 125% poverty line then he needs a co-sponsor but Manila is frown of that as what they said.
Also I read Manila tends to be hard on the us of a co-sponsor, and sometimes refuses to accept a co-sponsor, the general rule for K-Visas is only one sponsor, and the sponsor should be the petitioner.I'm really sad that the other countries accept co-sponsor but rarely they accept in Manila.... I hope that you both can work this out because me and my fiance are also the same like you.We are still going to use a co-sponsor no matter what so i hope it will work out for us.Pls. keep in touch and let me know the update about the co-sponsor thing because i really need to know if it's ok to have a co-sponsor in Manila. Also we'll be together in the interview day so i hope that can help also.Well, i would love to discuss more about this low income issue bcoz we're in the same situation.I hope to hear from you soon so we can talk about it if you like.Take care and God bless you always!

This is what my fiance will prepare for the Affidavit of support:
He owns a business and also trying to find another job to meet the 125% poverty line...

My Fiance = Sponsor
-I-134 Affidavit of support (Signed & Notarized)
-3 Years Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years,
-W-2 forms for the last year's ITR and Recent only.
-Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.
-Financial records such as bank statements for the business accounts as proof of self-employment.
-Business licensed - proof of self-employment also.
-Bank statement - Personal Account

->and when he get the other job he will include also the:
-Letter from the employer stating annual salary, including beginning date of employment, type of work performed and that is full time, and wages or salary paid provide the best evidence of current employment.
-Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.

His mother = Co-sponsor
-I-134 Affidavit of support (Signed & Notarized)
-3 Years Tax transcripts from the IRS for past 3 years
-Photo copy of IRS form 1040, and W2s for the past 3 years
-Letter from the employer stating annual salary, including beginning date of employment, type of work performed and that is full time, and wages or salary paid provide the best evidence of current employment.
-Photo copies of past 6 months pay stubs up to a few weeks before the interview.
-Bank statement - Personal Account
-Birth Certificate
-A letter from her that she will really support me.

Well I hope that information will help you what to do if not then i would love to talk to you about it if you like.

sounds like its hard to get a co-sponsor... is it really a must to have a co-sponsor if petitioner shows very low income? how about documents like his life insurance papers, money in the bank???

Yes it is a must because it's one of the requirements to meet the 125% income. If you fail to prove that you can support your beneficiary then they will deny you.

No, it is not a must. If he can show significant monies elsewhere (stocks, savings, etc), then he may not need a co-sponsor.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresPls. Help about INCOME TAX
If he doesn't meet the income requirements then his other option would be to obtain a cosponsor. If he is living in any state besides Alaska or Hawaii, the minimum level he would need to make for two people is a little over $17,000 a year.

I'd recommend against travelers insurance. Your Fiancee is not coming here as a tourist (or general short-term travel) which travelers insurance is geared towards. If you go this route and for some reason your fiancee gets sick, there is a good chance said insurance will not cover it.

Print off a few for each month. Same with chats. Print off some for each month. I printed off some from the beginning of the month, some from the middle and some from the end. I probably wouldn't need to do that much, but I would rather have more than not enough. They don't have to be the whole chat too.

That's pretty generalized. We received an RFE for something that isn't required until the interview.

What and why?

They asked for a copy of her translated birth certificate. I could understand if I had put her untranslated b.c. in with the package, but I was told I did not need to send her b.c. with the I-129F petition.

The "why" to go with that was likely to document a name change. While the birth certificate of the foreign fiance or spouse is not specifically mentionded as a required document, documenting name changes is mentioned.

There was no name change.

I was wondering if you bought a one way ticket from Thailand to the US and if you did, how much did it cost. Everything I find costs almost as much as a round trip. The best deal I found to JFK was $882 and she would have a layover in Abu Dhabi. So what's the plan for you?

Hi there...

I went with a one way ticket as the round trip was about $100 more. It came out to $1065 with tax. It will be a straight flight from BKK to San Fran. From there we travel to LAX then to Tucson. Your ticket is pretty reasonable.

Try this place: I don't know if they offer tickets from BKK to New York but a round trip ticket from New York to BKK is advertised at about $650 http://www.consolida.......th&code=BKK Another option is to look at some of the travel agents in BKK. They usually have cheaper fares.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresShould I requet assistance from a law firm in Bangkok
Getting married in Thailand is not going to make it any easier for her to come to the States as easily as you can fly to Thailand. You wouldn't apply for a K1 visa if it is your intent to move to Thailand as the K1 visa is for those individuals wanting to come to the US to marry their S.O.

A tourist visa is also very difficult for most Thai's to obtain. So...I think you need to decide what you want. If it's moving to Thailand then hold off on anything until you are ready to move, or if you want her to come there to live with you, apply for the K1 and marry her and then move back to Thailand at a later date.

Are you planning on teaching in a university? I'm sure you are aware that teaching positions for farangs in the LOS are not always the most lucrative positions unless you can get in with a university or international school. There have been a lot of changes just recently in how work visas are obtained by westerners there. I'm bringing this up because if you haven't already looked into salaries, the difficulties in obtaining solid work, and sometimes the difficulties in obtaining a work visa, it could help you determine if you want to move there, or have her move to the States.

If you haven't visited this site, I suggest you do: http://www.thaivisa....hp?showforum=46 You can learn a lot about teaching in Thailand.

Hi everyone...

Just letting you all know my fiancee and I arrived in the US on the 17th. Our POE was San Francisco. I was a bit worried about the amount of time it would take for us to clear immigration and customs but it took us only about 30 minutes total. Very easy. The immigration agent only asked if we were aware that we needed to marry within 90 days of entry.

The only thing that I didn't like about the whole trip was the flight back. We had to leave BKK early because there was a typhoon in the South China Sea we had to fly around. Pretty bumpy. Actually the turbulence was bad all the way through Tokyo until maybe an hour out of San Fran.

Fantastic Jamie76!

You know, your timing is perfect! Minnesota will be beautiful this time of year! Has your fiancee ever been there before? If not, then I'm sure she'll enjoy the mild weather! My wife arrived in April of last year, and the first couple questions she asked me about the USA were, "why are all the trees dead, was there a fire?" Being from Thailand, she'd never witnessed the fall time and the spring time when the leaves come back to the trees. no0pb.gif The next thing she asked me was why the sky was so close to the ground (because its cloudy around Detroit all the time, not sunny and 40+C like in Thailand!) laughing.gif

That is the case with my wife, when she moved to Detroit with me this same time last year. Take my advice though, start to stock up on winter clothes for her NOW! She'll need them next winter. My wife, as much as she loved the first two months of snow, really suffered through the last 3 months of winter...!!! Actually, we bought most of her heavy winter sweaters from garage sales! My wife was amazed at the 'excess' of the USA...because she could buy a new sweater at a garage sale for $1......

Peace and Great to hear of your success!

MarkNAAm

Mark...We are now living in the Tucson AZ area. It's been in the upper 80s, low 90s, so not much of a difference from Thailand other than the dryer air. Trying to find an Asian market that caters more to Thais has been a challenge though. We found a small one in Tucson, but I think we are going to venture up to Phoenix to see what is there. I miss the northland, but I don't think she would like it too much. I guess we got over 9 inches of snow in northern Wisconsin last week. I don't miss that.

How are you planning on getting creative? Get your ducks in a row now so you don't have to worry about it come interview time. Believe me, ours came up fast. Just because this particular person didn't look at our paperwork that closely, doesn't mean whoever your fiancee gets for the interview won't look at yours. It's really a ####### shoot. Some just ask a few questions and breeze through the paperwork, others ask many questions and go through the paperwork with a fine toothed comb. I've heard of some people being asked for a "single certificate" at the BKK Embassy now. This was something that had been asked for on a regular basis in Vietnam, now it is happening in Thailand too.
