IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresCSC still stating June 16 date for i130

Called USCIS for the first time today and just asked them what cases they are currently working on. They stated that they are still processing June 16. I guess the data they are looking at is obsolete. Got NOA1 on Aug 19. With this being the case for a lot of filers, i wonder if i here anything by end of January.

I was JUST trying to get a hold of an actually human being to figure the dates, so what number did you call (for future) and if it was the USCIS 800 number how do you get ahold of someone. also is June 16 for all visas or just I-130?! I read here like two weeks ago that they were processing June 16, but clearly no progression has been made, that's a little discouraging.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & Proceduresis it ok to abbreviate?....
On the I-129F form when asking for my fiancè's address the box for the town or city is not big enough, and when typing it to fit it in we have to abbreviate is that ok to do. Or should we just print it and hand write the entire form and in that box write the entire city just smaller so it fits?....help, please! :)

Thank you!

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support?!....

Same problem I am having

http://www.visajourn...34-help-please/

thank you so much!

I have done a lot of researching on that topic because me and my fiance are in a similar situation. This is what I've read, and what we have decided to do: First of all, you, as the US citizen petitioner MUST fill out the I-134 affidavit of support with all supporting documents because of the sole fact that you are the petitioner for the visa. Now, if you are don't meet the $ guidelines, or are unsure that you do, some embassies (you should talk to someone who knows specifically about Colombia) allow a co-sponsor, which means, another US citizen (maybe your mom or whoever) fills out a separate I-134 affidavit of support with all her info and supporting documents. Both of the affidavits (yours and your co-sponsor's) are presented for the interview at the embassy. Hope that helps!

sooo very helpful! thank you so much!! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresAffidavit of Support?!....
I am a student, graduating in May, but I work part-time and still live with my parents and I am worried that only working part-time will be a factor of our visa being denied....is this a possibility? But my mom has agreed to be a co-sponser with the affidavit of support. so with that said, when it comes to that do I fill out the affidavit of support with my information?...or my Mother's info?....or do one for each? will having a co-sponser make it more likely to be denied?

thank you!!

Hey! Feel free to hang out with the July class even though you'll get your new NOA in August. I feel bad since we originally filed on the same day... Posted Image

But who knows, maybe we'll both get through at the same time!

And don't forget the G-1145 this time! Otherwise you'll. always be checking your mail instead of your phone or your computer...

Thank you for the encouragement!! :) I think I just might hang with the July filers!! And for sure I added the G-1145 form, I think my mail lady was going to put a restraining order against me because I was stalking the mailboxes Hahahaha! Just be sure to make a cover letter headlining what NEW information you are submitting. This being in context with any communication they sent you, informing what info they are missing. Don't get cute with them.....We know it is a temptation, just don't.

:star:

Not missing any info they just said to resend a check with the right amount...

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresYAY....rejected package came back...time to resubmit!
Hey VJ fam!
Good news....I can stop stressing now...kind of, our I-129f Rejected packet came back...Finally. It was rejected because I over paid. So now here is my question....I am preparing to resubmit it, but on the papers there are some printed numbers and codes on every page (on the right side of the page vertically), so 1.) Do I resubmit the same package?(the ones with the codes printed on them) 2.) Is it ok for me to insert more papers into the package? even though they will not have a printed code on them and 3.) Do I keep the I-797C form?

Thank you for the help~~

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think I'm being a paranoid polly....

Fede&Kendra--Glad greetings to you again! Yes, I would (and did) certainly take the "opportunity" :) to go over all forms and submitted material with fresh eyes, re-checking that all is correct, seeing if anything missing or in error. And, yes, I would modify accordingly if necessary or desirable. I would certainly keep the original I-797C reject notice but include copy with your re-submitted package [I am not recommending to keep for any specific reason except that I personally believe in retaining all documentation just in case & including in resubmission to provide explanation of why reject/submission).

Just for some additional information: When I received the I-797 rejection notice, this notice was accompanied by an explanatory letter instructing me to correct error, re-submit package with this explanatory letter on top of entire application package. So I did , re-submitting all that had been in original I-129f submission.

Additionally, I modified my original cover letter which I had saved on computer, this time doing as follows: (1) labeling, at top of cover letter, "Resubmission: Form I-129F, Petition for Alien Fiance(e)" and (2) in body, explaining (a) corrective action taken, (b) stating USCIS re-submission letter and that copy of I-797, NOA (receipt number EACxxxxxxxxxx) were included, and © including bulleted list of entire contents of I-129F. (3) I repackaged all in delivery envelope on the outside of which I also labeled "Resubmission: Form I-129, Petition for Alien Fiance(e)."

I hope this helps! And, of course, I continue to wish you a speedy reply from USCIS to you after your resubmission and continuing Godspeed on all of this visa journey!

Hey RK,

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think I'm being a paranoid polly....

Hello Girl ;)

I know how you might be feeling. It is a shame you didn't send the G-1145 :( otherwise i am pretty sure you would have been getting the e-mail notification by the end of this week.

We filed on July 13 , sent the G1145 form, and last week on July 22nd we got an e-Mail with the following information:

"Your USCIS application/petition has been received and routed to the Vermont Service Center for processing. Within 7-10 days by standard mail you will receive your official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) with your Receipt Number XXXXXXX. With the official Receipt Notice (Form I-797) you may visit www.uscis.gov where you can check the status of your application using My Case Status. We suggest you wait until you have received your Form I-797 before checking My Case Status."

I hope this gives you a little insight... and also I hope they don't return the check for putting the wrong amount.

Good luck, and try not to worry too much. ;-)

Hey lady! :)
Thank you very much for the insight! :) Very helpful information! I wish I would have known about the G1145, I don't know how I skipped that info. But now I know so if they do send it back I will be sure to include one. haha! I hope they don't return it either but unfortunately I don't think thats the case. :(

Fede&Kendra--Hi, I am the USC petitioner (RK). From my own experience, hope I can add to the assurances that all should turn out OK for you. Notice the timeline below my signature. I, too, like you did not initially send in a GS-1145 plus I made error on the check. As you can see, weeks later I did get a response. I corrected check, used GS-1145 this time, (re)sent package using delivery confirmation. Heard back in a few days this time. All has turned out OK so far. Just waiting now. Yes, the waiting seems like forever. I empathize. Here is wishing you may find some answers and comfort here in the experiences of others and here is wishing you continuing success on your own Visa Journey. --RK

Thank you so much for sharing your story with me, I do now feel better about this situation (and feel bad that it also happened to you) but on the other hand I'm glad it's fixed! I really appreciate the kind, encouraging words. :) And plan to fill out the G-1145, as you did, this time. I hope the rest of your journey is flawless! thank you again! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think I'm being a paranoid polly....

I think everybody who files this goes through pretty much the same thing. I know I still am. But if your petition comes back (and I think, unfortunately, it most likely will), take the time to go over it once more. From what I've seen on this site, embassies are notorious for spreading bad information. You already got one piece of wrong information from the embassy, make sure everything else is A-OK before sending it back. Use this site, the USCIS site and don't be afraid to ask around if something isn't clear.

I am ok with it being returned, unfortunately these things do happen, hopefully in a timely manner Do you know if it takes a while to be returned?, we will get it right...eventually, even if it takes time, when this is all over it will be worth it! and I definately won't hesitate to ask anymore even if I have the littlest doubt! Thank you everyone for the encouraging words and helpful advice, I really appreciate it. :)

It's a good idea to send things certified mail with return receipt to make sure it doesn't get lost in the mail

Yeah I did, and it did notify me that they recieved it buuuttttt....still nothing.

The fee is $340, not $350. I think that's the problem. Your petition will be rejected and they may be mailing it back to you, asking for the correct amount. Do not follow the embassy's instructions. Go to the USCIS website and follow those. Visit the k-1 guidelines here and cross check everything.
Good luck!

P.S.
Should I call about it to see if that is possibly the problem?! So hopefully that way NO (more) time is wasted.

That may be the issue. They do withdraw the funds electronically, but they also send a photo copy of the check to your bank for verification. I imagine it could cause problems if they withdrew $340 and sent a copy of a check for $350. Either way, I imagine you should get something by the end of the week.

Okay, thank you, I will keep an eye out, but if the embassy said $350 maybe I shouldn't be too worried about that being the problem. thank you again for the help!! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think I'm being a paranoid polly....

Do a role play, and you be USCIS, if someone calls you about a petition that USCIS haven't acknowledged receiving, what will be their answer?

No record, no NOA1, what else could the petitioner do but wait or resubmit. This isn't rocket science.

I DEFINATELY don't think it should take 6 months for me to get a NOA1.....the entire process from beginning to end should and can take the long but not the NOA1.
Fede&KendraFemaleColombia2011-07-26 13:58:00
K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI think I'm being a paranoid polly....

Not receiving the notice is one thing. The check not being used is another. BTW: check your bank account carefully. They don't actually cash the check, they use it to make an electronic withdrawal from your account. If you see a debit for $340, then you know they are processing your application. Also, did you include a G-1145? Doing so means they will email and/or text you when they process the application.

I also mailed my I-129F on July 18th (USPS Express Mail to Lewisville). I got an email and text on July 21st and my NOA1 in the mail yesterday. Expect it to take a little bit longer if you sent it to the Lockbox in Dallas.

Ohhhh! Ok I will check the debit part, thank you for the tip. And I did send it to the Dallas lockbox  and I did not include a G-1145, I knew nothing about that unfortunately. :( and I also sent $350.00, but I did that because on the US Emb. website for Bogota it said the fee was that much....so do you think that had something to do with it?...IDK?! But thank you for calming my nerves a bit. This prosess is so intimidating, I know you can relate, so for me if one thing doesn't go smoothly I freak out. hahahaha! thank you again! :)

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresJust to clarify....
Hey VJ Fam! :)

I have been doing some research on the affidavit of support issue and the more research I do, I feel the more confused I get, simply because I am reading about 5 different answers. So here's the deal I am a full-time student (in my senior year) and I am working part-time, still living with my mother. She has so kindly offered to be a co-sponsor, which I know we have to have one, so I know I have to fill out a I-134 form, so does my mother have to fill out the same form (I-134)? Also does she need to fill out a I-864 affidavit of support? OR/AND an I-864A affidavit of support. or maybe both?! Do I need to fill out an I-864 form as well?!

Thank you so much for any help! :)

Also off subject; how accurate is this estimated time?....

I am not worried about something happening, I am not saying it won't, but 1. the wedding is more than a year away and 2. even if something happens and he is not here then well no big deal we will not be out ANYTHING we could have every last detail of the wedding planned and if he is not here then they just let us choose a different date, so nothing is lost.

Hey VJ Fam!

I am going to our wedding venue tonight to make our reservation :D :D Sooooo excited!! 395 days until our big day! (L) :D So anyways when I make the reservation tonight I will be signing a commitment contract and I was wondering if you all thought that this contract would be a good piece of proof for the "on going relationship" proof, of course as well as all the other things; like phone logs and Skype records, MSN chat logs... etc. Also will conversations between his family members and I be good proof, I do realize they have nothing to do with him and I, but just the fact that I know his family and we have close relationships (mostly his brothers and I) I was thinking maybe they would also see this and see it as a legit relationship. So any advice is very much appreciated! :) Thanks VJ fam for always being so helpful!

It was sent to the Texas Service Centre and forwarded to the California Service Centre after the NOA1

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresCase Number!!

You can go full speed ahead and fill out the forms plus schedule the interview which is what I did. Depends on how fast you want to go. By the time the interview rolls around the case will be there. I think it is also transmitted electronically. I you are attending the interview then also take a copy of you case with you so if push comes to shove you can give it to them if it has not shown up. Once you pay the fee online you will be allowed to schedule an interview. So its 1) Pay Fee 2) Schedule Interview and 3)Complete forms DS156, DS 156K. There is a packet that you download from the site also that tells all of the items need at the time of the interview. Make sure you download it and read to assure you have everything. Also schedule and appointment for a physical at the office of one of the Doctors listed in the packet. This needs to be done prior to the interview as well as go to the clinic listed for tests. Your Fiance must go to the clinic prior to going to the Doctor. So its 1) Clinic 2) Doctor and 3)Interview. Also get the vaccinations at the Doctors office to avoid any problems of having to get them twice. Its a money thing for the Doctor. My Fiancee only had to get two.

Thank you so much for your advice!! We are gonna go ahead and do it! YAY!! I do plan on attending the interview but with the case is that something the embassy will email me with?...or a confirmation number?!
