K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if we can't meet financial requirements?
Yes, thank you. I suppose there's nothing left for me here until I'm good enough to report a success, as it would seem that's what this place is for.
I cant believe I've had to defend myself like this.

edit button not work? O_o

I wanted to add another thing - in July '06 after the failed attempt to fly to UK, I had to move back to my parents home in Phoenix. I began working at Arby's. I worked and saved and in December Ashley and I had our holiday. When I returned home I did not return working at Arby's, instead sat around here feeling sorry for myself. Then in March I began working for Taco Bell. Want me to make some Taco Bell videos to put on YouTube? :\

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if we can't meet financial requirements?
wow.... ok.
Check the dates on the YouTube submissions. No way to prove this to you guys but I started working at Taco Bell in March of this year.
I was born 10/22/1980, I am 4'10. I am often accused of looking younger than I am he is indeed a bit younger than me, he will be 21 in July.
Just because I dropped out of high school doesn't mean I can't have good grammar :/ Again, depression is an issue, and has been all my life.
I think if anything I was trolling for a little sympathy in hopes of finding someone with some encouraging words. Much of which I've received and am grateful for and indeed hope to find more.
As for knowing me from other boards... I haven't been on any boards besides this one and Guild Wars Lore Forums in a long while.
Any other questions? I have nothing to hide.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if we can't meet financial requirements?

In July '06 I attempted to fly to UK, and was stopped at the gate. After a year of personal research, I thought I was set. I get to the door and immigrations stops me because we're too poor. After an evaluation of both of our skills and income potentials, I was denied Leave to Enter.

Wow. I have flown into the UK at least 50 times, probably more. Usually they just flip through my passport and say "nice to see you again" or "have a nice trip, it's been a few weeks." I don't think that I have ever been asked any questions about anything (while I always do get the third degree going to Canada where much of my family lives.)

Also - the secret of flying into Heathrow. Waste 15 minutes and get on the bus to the domestic terminal before doing immigration. There is no one in line there. This will avoid the 2 hour line of the 747s from India and Pakistan that just arrived at Terminal 3 or 4 and always seem to be in front of you in line...

I went to Manchester and didn't get 50 yards into the gate, no exaggeration. And at the risk of sounding dramatic - the woman wouldnt even let us see each other. After saying neither of us were allowed through security, then making sure he'd left, she escorted me through security to the ticket counter where I had to purchase my return ticket, and she insisted it be for the flight that was leaving now. Even argued with the airline personnel that they would be footing the bill for my overnight stay if they did not get me on that flight. You're all gonna bite my head off for this, but no I didn't have a return ticket. I was under the obviously uneducated impression that I was able to stay for at least 6 mos, in which time he could and would have easily purchased my ticket back home. We were not as prepared as we thought we were, we know this.
This particular incident isnt the issue, but I could go on about it quite a bit.. seems I have done so anyway O_o

Yay ideas! =D
Yes, I've considered and must pursue finding advancement and movement to other units within the company I work for (Taco Bell). I *am* pursuing that but my pessimistic attitude doesnt see fast enough progress >.<
Temp agencies - possible, but I have attempted to get in with those in the past. I have no high school equivalency, so I do not qualify for many of the jobs temp agencies offer. I am 4'10 and female, I cannot do construction. Those are the only temp jobs available in my area, and at the risk of sounding like a bigot - the Mexicans get those jobs. How they got here and got legal employment is beyond me; I guess everyone else can find a sponsor eh.
So, more work you guys say huh? I'm willing to do whatever it takes, I always have been. The fear that my efforts are useless hold me back.
Thank you all for the information regarding requirements; I was unsure whether my income was going to be considered cumulitavely or based on my potential income.

I know this is off topic, but my father is from Guatemala and has been called a Mexican all his life. He and his family came here legally. The only reason no one calls me a "Mexican" is because I'm light skinned enough to be mistaken as white. Lets all stop assuming that all Latinos we see are Mexican and that they're all illegal, ok?

I know, I later regretted my statement - please forgive me. I'm angry and feeling very useless. Also I did not intend that statement to mean that all 'mexicans' I see here (in Phoenix mind you) are illegals. In fact, my anger was in the assumption that they did get here and find employment legally.

I assume you came here for help solving a problem instead of just sympathy.

Maybe a little of Column A, a lil Column B? I am in need of real solutions and emotional support.

My suggestion is that you get a second job. Work part time at a fast food restaurant if you have to. You don't have to make the money last year. You can annualize this year's income and back it up with current pay stubs at interview time.

Forgive me for continuing to sound so dour but.... I work full time fast food already. Last year, the year I made the most money, I earned 9800$. I've been pushing and pushing for management within the company, and I know I'm impatient but Im feeling incredibly incapable. Depression makes everything harder, it just does.

The financial restrictions exist for valid reasons... if you cannot improve your income level and do not have a co-sponsor, you will not qualify. Your only other option would be to move to the UK.

Jen

That was our first attempt. He does not qualify to sponsor me as well. In July '06 I attempted to fly to UK, and was stopped at the gate. After a year of personal research, I thought I was set. I get to the door and immigrations stops me because we're too poor. After an evaluation of both of our skills and income potentials, I was denied Leave to Enter. I dare not attempt such again until I'm rich enough for UK. (thank you very much UK for making the process happen at the door, after a 14 hour flight)

I do appreciate what support I can get, pity party or not I am in an incredibly desperate state and no amount of repressing or diverting is going to help that until I know that my efforts are actually going to give me what I need.
I see many of you have indeed been through and are nearing the end of your processes. I cant help but be a little jealous; seems everyone but me is capable. I feel as if I have been ready for this to be over for two years, and the process has yet to start for me. The process may never start if I have no hope it will. Without hope there's little motivation.

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresWhat if we can't meet financial requirements?
I and my fiancee have been 'together' for nearing three years. He resides in UK and I live in Arizona, USA. Our relationship began and developed online, and for two weeks in December '06 we holidayed together in Holland. (search username Iruparazzo on YouTube to see some video of us together ^^) We've been pursuing our dream of being able to live together as a normal couple but have come upon a rather crippling snag - neither of us meets the financial criteria required for sponsorship; neither of us qualify for either US or UK sponsorship. Neither of us also carry the potential to meet these qualifications anytime soon, as neither of us has the education to do much better.
This is a pretty depressing situation and we have no projected outlook on when if ever we can be together. No one we know is willing or capable of co-sponsoring. There are many details which I can go into later, I just wanted to get this out there and off my chest, as I am at such a loss as to where to turn for help.
The desire to live in the life I dream and the fear that it will always be a dream has become crippling. I really just need one ray of hope, it's the biggest issue of my life and I don't know how to solve it.
What does a person in love do when they're too poor to be permitted to marry?

K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Process & ProceduresI-797
First post so I apologize in advance if the topic's been repeated.
I filed my original petition Feb 14, 2012
March 3 it was sent back because the check was for the wrong amount. I mailed the entire packet back with the corrected amount the same day
August 3 I got a request for additional information. I've never been married and they were asking for a copy of my divorce decree
Today September 17 I got an I-797 dated Sept 11 saying the petition was approved and forwarded to NVC

My concern is that my fiance is retired so he flies back and forth from London to visit. I spent the summer with him and when we returned August 5th he was told by immigration at Sky Harbour Airport in Arizona that the next time he leaves the country, which is scheduled for October, he cannot come back until his Visa has been approved. The guy was very nast and said he could be an "#######" and "kick him out of the country" but because his daughter was with us he was making an exception but said he is "noting it in the computer" whatever that means. So my fiance is here with me now, afraid to go back because the rest of the process could take months and months. I don't know what happens next. I'm reading online that people get packets, medical examinations etc. I'm so confused but don't want to do anything that will jeopardize the application. We've followed all the rules and yet it still seems to be taking forever.

Thanks in advance for any advice you share

QUOTE (karenandtrev @ May 10 2009, 04:03 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}>
The NVC automated system doesn't work for K1 visas for some reason-i phoned it first and the automated message told me that it hadn't received our case, but then i spoke to an advisor and they told me that they had received it and also that it had been sent to the embassy. So you should ring back and speak to someone x

We had the same experience. NVC automated system said could not find our case but when we spoke to a person (just minutes after listening to the automated system), she said our case had already been received and sent to consulate. So definitely worth speaking to someone and not relying on the automated system!

Wow, seems yesterday was a great day at VSC!!! 8 approvals!

Those still waiting for NOA2, has anyone had any "touches"?? We haven't had anyone looking at our case since Jan 26. But maybe that's normal? Maybe they'll only look at it right before they approve it??

Congrats to everyone that got their approvals! Hoping VSC will keep up the good work and the rest of us will get our good news soon! smile.gif

PhilippinesMarried life is great
I'm Native American but have been called anything from Asian to Egyptian to Philippine. My husband is Egyptian, but has also been called anything from Italian to Spanish to Greek. I don't think in this day and age we can stereotype people based on their looks. People are curious and will always be curious (including myself). You just have to be patient and understanding as to why they might be looking or "staring" at you.

When I was in Paris and in Egypt, I had my shares of stares and I probably stared at a couple of people too. It can be a complementary stare, a weird stare, a shocking stare, stare out of admiration..etc. The only thing you can control is your perception of why it is they are staring at you. Keep a positive attitude and focus on your spouse.

I think that interracial marriages are awesome because we went through the hurdles of paperwork, wait time, fees and electronic communication to test our love.

Peace to you all.

With Love

Middle East and North AfricaSunday... Chilly .. Cold...
Hello Everyone! I'm pretty new to this Regional discussion area. It looks like most of you are close to finishing up with NVC...congrats. To me, all this paperwork feels like an online course! Always reading up and making sure I don't mess up the process...cuz it'll just add more time!

I live here in Northern Arizona, the weather here ranges from 30-58F today...not so bad, wish it was a bit warmer so I can start running and walking my dogs again. Not to mention this cold I had for more than a week is finally ending.

Im just happy for every day that goes by and happier for every week that goes by! I will be going to Egypt toward the end of May to visit my husband, and return August 2nd...hopefully we will be coming to Arizona soon after me!

Have a great day, and I look forward to getting to know you through this thread

Middle East and North AfricaPlanning a trip?

We are planning a little mini vacation this summer once classes are finished. He has 2 wks vacation, so plans include
the Grand Canyon, northern California and San Diego. Will also head up to northern Nevada to see my twin....then on
to Twin Falls, ID to see my brother. What he really wants to do is go fishing!!!!!!!!!!!! Me....I am so not into fishing,
but did tell him will sit on the pier, dock or whatever and have my coffee and all will be well with the world!

Our plans are for next year to go back to Egypt for a visit. What's so exciting is he will go as an American citizen!!

Yeah, that would be cool for him to go back as an American citizen. Thats what I would like to do with my husband one day, and we can finally go into the casino together.

When my husband comes to me in the Fall...I'm going to take him to the Grand Canyon, California, Nevada, Colorado and show him how fabulous the US is...and of course back to Egypt to visit his family. I have this incredible urge to show him everything and experiece everything together. lol, I probably have to teach my husband how to fish and kayak. All the times we've spent together were the best times of my life! I cant wait to see him in May when I go back to Egypt for 2 months.

Are the "classes" your talking about for Naturalization? Are they required to take those classes or could we just purchase a book or study guide and take the test?

Middle East and North AfricaMonday .. is Here
This is a difficult day to get through...I've been on my spring break, going to sleep at 3am and waking up late! I'm just glad it will be April soon...can't we just fast forward to May 25th?

My husband is going to start on collecting his papers for his IV packet. I think were going to give the Electronic Process a try...since there are scanners in Egypt (lol, I had to ask him.) I'm going to start scanning my papers. Got everything together, just collecting my check stubs as they come.

I have a question about form I-864 the AOS # 8, 9, 10 and 21.
8. I "X" the box "I am sponsoring the principle immigrant named in Part 2" and also check "Yes"? He's the only one I'm sponsoring.

9. "I am sponsoring the following family members immigrating at the same time or within six months of the principal immigrant named in Part 2 above. Do not include any relative listed on a separate visa petition." I don't check this box...right?

10. "Enter the total number of immigrants you are sponsoring on this form from Part 3, Items 8 and 9." I put "01"?

21. "a. Enter the number you entered on line 10", "b. Yourself", and "c. If you are currently married, enter 1 for your spouse" So I would put 1 for a,b&c. And finally on "h. Add together and enter the number here. Household size:"...I would put 2 right? Because it says not to count anyone twice...where my husband would count for a and c.

I'm not sure if I filled these in correctly, could someone verify or correct me. I don't want to fill in anything wrong.

Thanks so much..and have a fabulous Monday!

Middle East and North AfricaEgypt: Police Certificate Process
For Egypt, I found the following information:

Police Records

Available. Police certificates are obtainable by both Egyptians and non-Egyptians who were born in, or who permanently reside, or have resided in Egypt. The Police Certificate, called a "Criminal Status Record" (Saheefat al Hala al Gina'iyya), may be obtained upon application to the police station nearest the applicant's place of residence in Egypt, and normally takes between one and five working days. Applicants are fingerprinted on the reverse side of the application form. The certificate will indicate if the applicant has served prison time, but will not indicate detentions, arrests or convictions without imprisonment. An applicant abroad must apply to the nearest Egyptian consular officer who will fingerprint them and forward their applications to the Ministry of Interior, Cairo. Upon completion, the report is sent to the applicant. The latter procedure usually involves considerable delay. Since the certificates are eventually issued, they must be considered available.
http://travel.state....ocity_3554.html

The applicant must submit police certificates that meet the following guidelines. The police certificate must:

* Cover the entire period of the applicant’s residence in that area
* Be issued by the appropriate police authority
* Include all arrests, the reason for the arrest(s), and the disposition of each case of which there is a record.
http://travel.state....195.html#police

1. As far as the directions are concerned, my husband would first apply at his city of residence(hes in Egypt) and they mail it back to him after a max of 5 days?
2. Does this report include all the places he had lived in Egypt for more than 6 months?
3. Is there an expiration date on this certificate?
4. Do you have any other suggestions about how to get through this process the fastest?

Thanks in advance for any post...We really need your input, no matter how small. Thanks again!

Don't you love spring training!!!!!!!!!!!! Baseball is back...FINALLY!! How I LOVEEEEEEEEEEE the game!

Take care and have a wonderful day.

I'm in the Northern part of Arizona the high here is 61 today...perfect weather for running...and playing softball for me. Southern Arizona is too hot for me. I can barely hack summer in Egypt. Its funny cuz when I came back from Egypt last summer, landed in Phoenix, it felt like Phx was hotter! lol

Happy B-day to ur hubby.

Glad to know everyone is doing well...things will only get better! I'm very much looking forward to getting my NOA2. Have the Terrific Thursday everyone!!

Middle East and North AfricaWed ....

Looks like you are doing great! Yes, this site does rock. I totally agree! I can't imagine what we would have done without it. We actually got our NOA2 about a month before we expected it so now we're trying to get everything together. At first it looked like my husband's documents would take longer to get than the things I need for AOS but now I've run into some little bumps getting things and so he's ahead of me. LOL! We're alright though because we don't want a May interview...we want one in the summer.

We've actually been apart for 34 weeks now...9.5 to go until the end of the school year so it's getting closer! Thanks for your well wishes. :)

I remember when it was about 3 months out and I thought I was just never going to make it. I cried most nights and every time my husband and I would talk it just seemed to go so fast. It still seems to go fast but knowing I'll be with him in a couple of months is really helping...not to mention being very busy getting everything ready. Just keep posting and there are some great people here. We've just got to all stick together!

By the way...the picture of the two of you is really sweet.

That's a long time, 43 weeks apart! I misread your initial post. Yeah, the people here on VJ are so helpful...experience speaks the best. Thanks for the compliment about our pix, that is our wedding pic I cropped. I wish you and your husband the best!
Wife of MohammedFemaleEgypt2010-03-26 13:45:00
Middle East and North AfricaWed ....

Batta, have a great trip!

Charles...oh my I know the feeling. One day closer!

R and F I hope you had a great day.

W of M...I remember that time! Honestly, if you can start to work on gathering everything for the NVC that will keep you very busy and will help you get through the next part faster. Check the guides and then join up with the March NVC thread....lots of great info and there's SO MUCH to do with it that you won't be clock watching...seriously!

INGT...you're almost there! Sorry there are so many darned projects but ketchup should be fun.

As for here, another day down means getting closer to another week finished and now we are 9.5 weeks away to me being free to leave to Morocco. No tickets yet...kind of waiting on the interview date and hoping the prices will go down just a bit. They are a few hundred more than last year. :( My new classes this quarter are overall SO MUCH better behaved and so it's been a pretty nice week in the classroom. Of course it's 4th quarter so that may change as we get closer to summer. For now, it's just nice to have. Also, the days are going by pretty fast. It's been a good day overall. I hope for everyone else too.

I'm also a teacher. Yeah, I think they do get antsy as soon as spring roll around. Wow...9.5 weeks apart, that is super long.
We will be apart for about 5 months...I'm on my 3rd month, and it is getting difficult. I can imagine waiting for an interview date, you must be at the edge of your seat ready to jump! I hope you find some great ticket prices.

I feel like I'm going to get approved soon. I've already compiled my papers for my AOS. So far, I have the following documents:
-tax transcripts for 2006,2007,2008
-2009 1040 form & w-2s (filed as joint married)
-letter from employer
-AOS application
-cover letter
-recent bank checking statment (not sure, do I include this?)
-check stubs oct 2009-march 2010 & salary contract for school year 2009-2010

I finished my husbands IV application...now just waiting for him to get the other docs, which he will start tomorrow. I thank everyone that has helped me with advise, this website rocks!

Middle East and North AfricaThursday, Apri 1st
I finally got my NOA2 Approved today! A Text & Email were sent to me this morning at 1am:

On March 31, 2010, we mailed you a notice that we have approved this I130 IMMIGRANT PETITION FOR RELATIVE, FIANCE(E), OR ORPHAN. Please follow any instructions on the notice. If you move before you receive the notice, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

I think I can get everything submitted before I leave(May 25) to Egypt for my 10 week summer break I will be spending with my husband! Hopefully he can send me all the IV Packet information in 2 weeks, give 2 weeks for mailing(to the US) and by the beginning of May, send it off to the NVC.

Does anyone know the time frame for the Egypt Embassy interview after NVC approval?

Now I can actually feel like I'm doing something! It was difficult to just wait and wait and to not be able to do anything.

Middle East and North AfricaGood Friday
Not only is this a "Good Friday", I consider it a Great Friday. My NOA2 got approved yesterday and I feel ready to take on the NVC and get this out of the ways asap.

Does anyone know how long after NVCs approval, what the next steps will be. I know there is a medical and interview, but don't know exactly how and when they would happen. Could someone explain the next steps, thanks :)

Middle East and North AfricaHump Day!
Hello All...Happy Wednesday! Hope everyone is doing well. As for myself, I'm just looking forward to every day that comes and passes.

Especially looking forward to May 26th - Aug 2....the time I will be with my husband in Egypt. Getting all this NVC paperwork is a plus if its all completed by then. Then it would be awesome if he has his interview while I'm in Egypt...and it would be even more awesome, if he could come home WITH me! I'm dreaming, and dreams do come true.

The weather here was awful, blowing sand, cold windy days. I want to start jogging and walking outside to get into better shape before I leave for Egypt. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow...lol

Take Care :)

Middle East and North AfricaUpdate on 3rd Interview

My husband and I are in our 30's, I've served 7 years in the US army than went back to school for a 2nd degree and than when I was done I was ready to start my life and that just so happen to be in my 30's. I had online friends and families, never had an online relationship. My husband was a late bloomer, and he wanted love and that's all he wanted. He found that in me, but alot of people are not as fortunate as you and your SO, first time around. Some of us have to start over, so please don't think that he's started over a 1000 times just because say this. I am only telling the truth, I understand the online relationship he had with this individual she confirmed it with me that Kassim ended it because of his religion.

Really, I'm happy that you fought for what you wanted. I don't think bad of your husband. Also I understand how an attraction to Americans can happen, after all we are cool B-)
Even attraction toward a particular race can happen...all of a sudden I found Middle Eastern men attractive, lol.

My husband never had a relationship, but I have had a couple. I know how your first love feels...and I'm honored to be the first for him. Relationships come and go, but marriages should be forever. Again, congrats for sticking up for yourself and standing by your husband. Islam really is a great religion, and that's one of the reasons I married. They learn to have a lot more respect for self and others than any typical person. Salam (F)

Middle East and North AfricaUpdate on 3rd Interview
WOW...this is news for me. Makes me think. I wonder how much information they pull up on us? LOL

I don't mind them snooping on my account or my husbands. In fact, I'm glad they do. If my husband had some other life or has tried to marry online to get out of his country...I'd be happy that the US Govt. deny them.

Muslim men have different standards to live by...such as not dating, and basically refraining from most women contact. My husband never had a gf or online gf. I was his first and his last. I'm glad for this.

Thanks for sharing your story. I'm glad you fought and got what you wanted!
