I too am just starting out, and I have found advice on this forum invaluable. I asked a similar question and got similar responses. My plan is to put everything together first, then have a lawyer check them over, but do everything else myself. Something that is helping me is downloading the forms and the examples (from this website) and then making a list of everythin that I still need.

I feel like I'm in "One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest" dealing with USCIS!!! I was sane but they're driving me nuts!




No, at this point, I don't feel lucky - I am not expecting anything this soon, I'm just wondering. The only thing that could throw me is that I was born in Guatemala to US parents, so I hope I did that element right. I have heard about the forgotten March applicants... I wish I could say something encouraging, but not tonight, not in this mood. Best I can say is that I (and many others) are praying daily for all the people at the CSC to go through these visas as quickly as possible. Best wishes to you!

My initial application was received on August 15, 2006 - I got the official NOA1 - but nothing since then. On their website they say that they are processing visas from March 20, but I see other people getting approved. Should I be worried? I have heard nothing from them at all. Ours is a straight forward case - no children, previous marriages, criminal background, nothing. Educated guess - could I still hope for a March wedding?

Just a little heads up for all of you working on your I-129F form. You can download a fillable PDF file of the G-325A (Biographical Information)

ATTENTION


Be very careful about the bottom question: This form is submitted in connection with application for.

- You will put an X in Other and write: I-129F Petition for Fiance.

ON ALL THE REST OF THE PAGES (2-4) IT AUTOMATICALLY PUTS AN X IN "NATURALIZATION"

- I only found this at the last moment, and it took me a moment to understand.

My solution: Check the box on each page then print that page, then go to the next page. Also, you can print 4 copies of page 1

** Just make sure all your information is the same on every copy **

- Hope this saves some of you some frusteration.

Hi - it's a long, hard journey - but I take heart that many people get through it. The main advice I have - do NOT try to take any short cuts. This system is faulty, stupid, and frusterating, but it's the one that we have to go through. Read the guides, then feel free to ask more questions. We are approved!!!!! I took a brief look around and I saw that there have been many of us who got our notice on November 2 - it must be a special day. My fiance called me about 15 minutes ago with the good news. I just want to say congratulations to everyone else who is celebrating. :D

Thank you to everyone who gave me advice and encouragement! Now that I know what I did worked, I hope to pass on the favour.

Also, I want to encourage all of you waiting for NOA2 - it's a struggle, I know. I have been so blessed to only wait just over 2 months. Be encouraged, it looks like CSE is starting to pick up its pace.

First of all, I am incredibly lucky. My NOA2 was recieved on Nov. 2 and my fiance recieved his packet from the embassy on the 8th. If the NVC isn't getting your information, definitely follow up on that!

We were married in the US, but she has gone back home to work etc. Her home town is only like 50 miles from where i live in AZ. She's had her tourist visa for a long time so it wasn't her intent to marry using that visa. It's only been a couple weeks since we were married.


IS this the best way to go about it for us?

IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & ProceduresAdjustment? I-485???
My wife is a Mexican citizen with a tourist visa to enter the US. I'm an American and live in Arizona.

I went to a service that is supposed to help with immigration and they told me I can do either the K-3 or an I-485 adjustment, since my wife already has a tourist visa. They said with the I-485 she can't leave the USA while they are processing this. They said it only takes like 4 months total and that she will be able to work after the interview. They seem legit.

Also they told me with this option we won't have to go to an interview in Mexico, but instead to Phoenix, AZ.


I was surprised because I had not seen this option online. Is this true what they told me? IS this the fastest way to go for me? It sounds great if its true.

Hi, all!

 

I'm planning to apply for Naturalization in August, and was hoping someone could help me with a few questions regarding Form N-400:

 

Part 2. Information about you. #2 Your name EXACTLY as it appears on your Permanent Resident card. 

My middle name doesn't appear fully on my green card, just the first letter. But I'm assuming I should still write out my middle name, not just a letter?

 

Part 7. Information about your employment.

I've been a homemaker for the last five years. I'm thinking I'll put N/A in employer, Homemaker as occupation, and no need to supply address? (same as home address, obviously)

 

Part 8. Time outside the US.

Now I know this is a bit silly, but how did you count the days? Did you include the day of return? (i.e. 10/21-10/25 as 4 or 5 days)

 

Also, with regards to the passport style photo... Is this the photo that will actually end up in my passport? (I'm a bit vain and have had my share of horrific passport photos so would want to make sure this is a good one...  ;)

Hi, all!

 

Just a question to those that have filed N-400. The document checklist states that you should include tax returns / IRS-certified copies of income tax / IRS tax return transcript. The "Thinking about Applying for Neutralization" however says to bring certified tax transcripts for the interview.

 

What did you guys do? Did you just send tax returns and then order certified tax transcripts for the interview, or order the certified tax transcripts already when applying?

I see few folks are inline for the interview but the date field is empty. The INS sends you text stating that you are inline for interview, but they do not give you the interview date? Is that what is going on?

 

To be in line means you're placed in line for interview scheduling and should receive an interview date and place within 90 days of being placed in line.

I know! Kind of weird we all got it on the same day.

 

In addition to all passports and state-issued driver's license, mine says to bring original IRS form and documents establishing my marital union. Did everyone else get this? What are you guys planning on bringing? Just tax returns, insurance policies, mortgage payments, etc, or also holiday photos and such? I only sent tax returns with my application.

Was put in line for Interview. Updating with date. Additionally, I did not receive any text message or email notification, just checked the status on the USCIS website at random and found out that I was put in line.

 

Claytlin--that's fast! So you don't know the date yet, just that you're in line? I wonder if we'll have our interviews this year. Judging by other months timelines, we might! :-) 

 

BTW, is anyone else changing their name? Someone told me the process takes longer then. I'm guessing the waiting won't be longer for an interview, but between interview and oath...

I like how they tell you how you can get a live person. lol

What I did was just use the "changing address" option and that connected me to someone. Just told them I wasn't moving.



I did that too. Chose the option that I have changed my address and then they connected me to a live person. I then just told them I was not changing my address but had some other questions and that was fine. It's really weird that it has to be so difficult to speak to a live person!!! I was surprised there wasn't an option to do so in the main menu.

Don't worry too much about not being able to see your case online. I never saw my case online, and then one day I just had a letter from USCIS with my GC in the mail! You could already be approved, without even knowing it! Just check the mail and I am sure the card will be there soon.

I just checked out the USCIS website and saw the following note:

On February 15, 2012, we ordered production of your new card. Please allow 30 days for your card to be mailed to you. If we need something from you we will contact you. If you move before you receive the card, call customer service at 1-800-375-5283.

It was approved just now! Yupiii!!!

I' ve tras this forum for a while; but I' m in the Spanish forum. I sentido my I-751 to California CSC in August 31' but my NOA date is Sept. 1; I had my biometrics on Oct. ;until this moment I haven't had any answer; and I am wondering me what's going on. Somebody may tell me if this is normal ; or if would be better Call there?

CSC processing time for I-751 (according to the USCIS website) is 6 months, so if I was you I'd wait until March 1st and then give them a call if you still haven't heard anything.

It happens to quite a few people, you can call USCIS and get an operator by using the prompts to change an address and then ask them about your case.


I am in the same situation, case still cannot be found online. Called USCIS last year and they said all was in order, but couldn't give me an explanation to why I can't view it online other than that it is apparently normal for this kind of case... hmm... anyway, I wouldn't worry about it, it's just frustrating not being able to get online updates on your case, but anything that updates online will eventually be sent by mail anyway..

We just moved back to the east coast and am unsure of one thing... We sent our application to CSC, but... our office now that we've moved would be VSC... Does that mean our application will be transferred from CSC to VSC because of the move?? I hope not!

BTW.. Still can't see updates online! Frustrating.

My green card expires tomorrow, no news yet on mine being renewed or not. No RFE, no notices or "last update dates" online or anything. Posted Image

The worst is not knowing anything of whats happening with it. On top of not knowing if we will move across the country or across the world at a moments notice.. specially now that my card is expiring tomorrow. Posted Image


My card expires on Saturday. Moving back to the east coast this month so really hoping something happens soon, because last time we made an address change with USCIS they just kept sending to old address.

Don't worry. My case is not available online either, never has been. I called USCIS and asked them about it and they didn't give me an explanation but said it was normal. It does kind of makes you feel like you're in the dark though - would be nice to be able to receive an email update if something happens on your case...

I checked my case status (which I've been doing every week hoping that the system will eventually find it) right now, and to my surprise it said "On November 21, 2011, we ordered production of your new card. My husband's grandmother has been wanting to take us on a cruise since last fall. She was thinking of doing it last winter but it didn't work out. Now she found great deals for February 5th through the 12th and she only has till Monday to get the guaranteed reduced prices for the tickets. When she first mentioned it 2 months ago, I thought that ROC only took 3-4 anyway, so I told her we would go on a cruise no problem since by that time we should probably be done with ROC. But earlier this week I started to have doubts that we could get scheduled for an interview (even though it seems to be pretty rare) during our cruise time. I started looking into the subject trying to find if I could reschedule a ROC interview, but from what I read it looks like only in health-related situations can you reschedule an interview nowadays. I know the odds are slim for us to get an interview during those 6 business days when we are away, considering that only 1 out 15 or 20 people seem to get interviews and even if we were to have one, what are the chances of it falling on those days? I filed on September 9th, so the middle of the cruise will match exactly the 5-month mark after I filed.
Do you think we should take our chances and go on a cruise or should we wait till next year? I really don't want to wait till next year:(( What would you do?


I agree with the others, go on the cruise! It's so difficult to predict what will happen and when, and it sounds like you really want to go, I think you'll just regret later if you don't.
