United KingdomIn need of some final hurdle reassurance

In our case, our interview was approved on Friday, there were a couple CEAC updates over the weekend and it was changed from Immigrant to Non-immigrant visa and given a new case creation date and changed to Issued on Monday, and we had the visa via courier on Friday, a week after the interview.

Planning a wedding date before you have a visa in hand is usually not a good idea anyway though.  Also, you need to get a marriage license once here, which I know here anyways requires a Social Security number, which you can't get for 2 weeks after date of arrival here. (It takes that long to show up in the database to be issued one.)

Based on what I personally experienced you may have the visa in hand on the 21st, although as with anything actual results may vary.

You do not need an SSN for marriage licence, it may vary state to state but my fiancee got our licence before i even arrived in the US. You have to provide and SSN IF you have one. If you do not then it does not matter.

United KingdomTravel to Embassy

You have plenty of time, i would get the tube to Bond St and it's a 5-10 min walk from there. My interview was an 08:30 but I was there by around 07:30-07:45 and out by 09:20 I think, I have written a review so you might want to look at it for times etc and directions from Bond St tube., I was number 4 in the immigrant queue.

United KingdomWhen we finally get our visa how do I move money over to the US

I have moved similar amounts here from the UK and it's easy. Just open an account here in the US and get you bank in the UK to transfer it.

Or better

I used HiFx who give you a better rate than your bank will and have no transfer charges.

United KingdomPOE

The contents are in 3 groups really

All the stuff you filed with USCIS at the beginning, I129F etc

All the forms you sent to the embassy, 156 156K and so on

The stuff you took to the embassy with you, police cert and so on.

You hand it over and get nothing back other than your passport with your k1 stamp in it.

All you or he needs to do once fiance is in the US is google "I-94 retrieval" this will take you to the CBP website and you just fill out an online form, date of entry, name passport number etc and then it will generate an electronic I-94, print it and make a few copies, you need this for SSN and AoS just to name 2 processes.

I came in a month ago and just told them at check in I was on a visa when asked, other than that just the customs form as normal and the envelope from the embassy, thats it.

United KingdomWho is waiting for an interview date?

got a question from a friend going through the process. can you book your interview before you have the medical?

you do not book an interview, they assign you a date. They will not do this until they have all the forms DS this and that and the medical rsults.

it is a US number, so you need to prefix it with +1  or 001.

you will get a letter with interview date, or call Dos to find out if a date has been set. You do not have a timeline so its not easy to see where you are in the process.

United KingdomWho is waiting for an interview date?

Still pretty fresh from my medical on the 13th but CEAC logged the results (apparently) on the 18th so now they have everything from me, its just a matter of waiting. I saw in other threads that some people called up DOS to check their updates and find out if they had an interview date assigned before they got their actual letter and some got told about it during the call.

Is it worth doing that in a couple of weeks time? I intended on calling up to just clarify my recent updates anyway since you don't get any actual details of the updates, just the date.

I did not have a CEAC update when my interview was scheduled. My letter was issued on 23rd Aug and I got it a few days later. Interview tomorrow.

United KingdomWho is waiting for an interview date?

My fiance and I are still awaiting an interview as well. His forms were signed for August 27th, and we had a CEAC case update on September 16th. With a wedding coming up in 3 weeks, we are VERY nervous hoping his forms will be logged and interview set in time for the wedding. Anyone gotten a interview set recently? When I call DOS they just keep saying his forms haven't been logged. Someone mentioned in another forum that school visas may be slowing other visas, so I am assuming that is what is happening to all of the k-1's like us that are waiting.

I would seriously think about changing your wedding date. My interview letter was dated 23 Aug for a 23 Sept interview, then there is the wait for the passport to return.

United KingdomWho is waiting for an interview date?

Just wondering... How long did it take from ur forms being logged to receiving the interview date?

Had medical on 7 Aug, sent forms on 6th and signed for on 7th. I had an update on 13 and 15 Aug which were my forms and medical being logged. Letter dated 23rd Aug for Sept 23rd interview.

Comparison of consulates here http://www.visajourn...e-k1-historical
Using that, London is taking 81 days (based on VJ members with timelines) and trending up.

You don't have a timeline, but nobbie's does so using VJ averages, he will finish Oct 15.
Jola on Oct 20
Master Semaj Oct 28
Make a timeline and contribute to the stats.

May you all beat the averages.

Hope you are wrong with the averages, interview on Monday, hope i can be out of here in first week of Oct.

United KingdomWho is waiting for an interview date?

Thanks to ejjett for the link above.  It's quite frustrating to find any kind of update on K-1 status.

Sent the forms to London embassy on August 16, they were logged on September 12.  Now waiting and praying for a correspondence on interview date. Surprising how much slower the process is in the UK opposed to other parts of the world.

Has anyone received a response by using the "contact form"? I have tried numerous times with no luck.  Please let me know if there are any other numbers or links to consider in order to get an interview date update.  Quite painful to wait everyday for a letter to arrive.

Thanks

I used the contact form, took 3 weeks to reply and by then I had my interview date which was what I was enquiring about.

5 days indeed!!!

I have my interview date for 23 sept and just noticed I have a CEAC update on 13 Sept, no idea why, all my forms were logged in Aug along with medical. Interview letter was dated 23 Aug and CEAC did not update then.

Odd it updated 10 days before interview.

United KingdomLondon Embassy- Waiting for Packet after NOA2

Thanks so much for all of the help! I guess they converted all of the forms from Packet 3  into one mega online form, DS160, so we did that yesterday, booked the medical today (it's in a week!), collected all of the police certifiates, etc... and sent the interview readiness email! Im assuming letter 3 would just say that you can do it all online now... so confusing! Checked online and we'd been approved from the Embassy for a month! Frustrating, but hopefully we've done the right thing, dont know what we'd do without visa journey!

Thanks!

Tom and Kate

ps. Has anyone else done the DS160 online?

United KingdomLondon Embassy- Waiting for Packet after NOA2

Hi everyone, was wondering if anyone had any experience with the US Embassy in London in regards to the K1 Visa Process. September 12th, the US Visa Center sent me a letter confirming  that our approved NOA2 would be sent to the embassy in London within a week and that I would be receiving a packet from them 'shortly'. It has now been about 6 weeks since the London Embassy should have received our NOA2 and still no word from them.  We've tried calling, emailing, etc, but they seem impossible to get a hold of! Just wondering if anyone else had any experience with them and if they were notified when the London Embassy received their NOA2. We're not sure if the US government shutdown had an effect, even though the Embassy website said it didn't. Any suggestions/feedback would be wonderful and much appreciated!

Thanks so Much!

Tom and Kate

Ps. Maybe someone has a more direct number to the Embassy rather than the lines that simply have pre-recorded messages?

United KingdomLondon Embassy- Time from Medical to Interview

Hi everyone,

My fiance just had his medical appointment today in London and last week we sent our notice to the Embassy that we were ready for the interview date. I was wondering if anyone had any time estimates for how long it takes to get a date and an estimate for the amount of time between the issue date and the actual interview. Ive been trying to find some information, but our packet 3 was lost in the mail, so Im losing faith in the Embassy's efficiency! I posted last week which helped me figure out what to do even though we didnt receive a packet and we were just wondering if anyone had some advice in this last and final step!

Thanks so Much!!!!

Tom and Kate

United KingdomChanging Interview Date?

Hi everyone!!

I have had my interview date scheduled for 20th December at the US Embassy in London. I was hoping to get over to the states before Christmas so my fiancé doesn't have to spend it alone. I've heard in some cases the date can be brought forward if there are cancellations and alike.

Has anyone had any success in bringing there interview date forward? If so what's the best way to go about it?

Does anyone know of a number I can call to check this? Have already sent an email on the embassy website, no reply as of yet.

Thanks for your help guys!!

Tom & Kate

Should do, you may be better off posting this in the UK forum as someone there is more likely to have had to do it.

USCIS Service CentersTSC approved, But not transfered to NVC.

NOA1 10 Jan, filed in Vermont

April /may time transferred to Texas.

NOA2 24 June.

Case number from NVC 18 July after a phone call by Fiancee (USC). Dont know when it actually arrived there.

19 July Fiancee gets e mail saying NVC are sending it to London embassy.

At this time CEAC website still says at NVC but no idea how often that is updated.

Calm down, its only been 2 weeks or so. Get used to waiting, there will be plenty more.

USCIS Service Centerswhy K1 applicants are being approved so quick?

I waited 6 months just get petition approved last year, then 3 months for interview, then 3 months for EAD, might get GC by Sept which will be 22 months from filing petition to GC. Not that great being a K1. Looking back I wish we had got married in UK the  filed for spouse visa. quicker, easier and cheaper.

It's only been 3 months, I waited 6 months last year and had no RFE's. You have had one which has already slowed it down. Be patient, whats the rush anyway.

United KingdomInterview Scheduling at the London Embassy

Hello All,

I've been checking the status of my application at ceac.state.gov/ceac and it states that my application is ready.

I sent in all of the necessary forms, including the declaration form which notifies the embassy that I am ready for an interview, and my medical has been completed and forwarded to the embassy also. My application had been updated on the 30th August when I have sent everything in and they had received the medical results.

Does anyone have any idea as to how long it takes for the Embassy to contact you to give you the interview date at the London Embassy? What is strange is that I didn't receive, nor did my fiancee (the petitioner), any information from the Embassy regarding my instructions to prepare for the interview. I had to look up all of the details myself.

Thank you!

My forms and medical were all logged in by 15 Aug, I got my letter for appt by 28th (it was dated 23rd) for interview date of 23 sept. Looking on here though it seems to be taking somewhat longer now

I think it's enter within 6 months of the medical, get married within 90 days of entry, medical valid for a year from when it was carried out.

when you get a new passport you get the old one back with the corner cut off. Do you need a passport to get a police cert, you do not in UK but have no idea about aus. You  might need a copy of it so get some done.

I think all they want to know is that a person is discharged correctly and is not AWOL or a deserter and has no further liability. Therefore i would think what you have would suffice.

United KingdomAnyone get a drivers licence recently on K1 (Before AOS)?

I drove on my UK licence until I got my EAD then did the (joke) test. If you get a licence it is only valid for the period of your current immigration status, so it could be your I-94, EAD or GC and as you have to pay each time it's hardly worth bothering until you have EAD.

You wont get any RFE's from the embassy. I doubt they look at your file until you are there and not in that much detail. If they say anything just tell them you made a ####### up. They are just people, not out to trip you up.
