United KingdomLondon I-134 Self Co-Sponsor

My Fiancee had enough income however I took in a print out of my US dollar account and they were very happy to take that as well. I had more than enough in there on my own. So, yes, take some sort of evidence of assets of your own. Mine was a print out I got from the bank dated a few days prior to interview.

United KingdomPacket 3 Instructions

Once I knew my case was in London I got the medical done and sent the DS forms in at the same time, I did not wait for the letter. I looked on here and the embassy web site about what to send and where to send it.

I cant tell you as it has changed over the last month or two since I did mine.

United KingdomRegistering for return of documents

Good glad to help, after interview monitor that e mail as that's where the courier will send delivery forecast to.

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-09-30 15:54:00
United KingdomRegistering for return of documents

Sounds like you have gone the wrong way as mentioned above, you probably selected non immigrant which is technically correct but in this process you need to select immigrant.

You may now have to use another e mail address to register again if you already registered.

Many people have done what you appear to have done, it's not a very well thought out system

Another thing is, if you want home delivery it does not offer that option until you have paid then it will come up with that. Bit weird but it is how it is.

Has Kim spoken to DoS to ask if an interview date has been set? Thats how we got ours, then you know a few days before the actual letter.

Not sure if this is good news but on the CEAC it says Case Updated 11th Oct 2013 not getting to excited as it has been updated with new dates three times in under two weeks.

Hopefully that's your petition back in London, could be if they sent it by courier or something similar.

let us know when you get an interview date, they owe you a big favour so they ought to get you in asap.

Good luck mate

This is a pretty cool thread... If only not for the strange, annoying circumstance, gosh! I wish NVC would just stop screwing up!! sad.png

It was not NVC, it was US embassy London who cocked it up.

United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

Been to BWI today and am now in on the K-1, at last, very helpful and pleasant bloke, we had a natter about the Govt shutdown. I enquired about the other couples paperwork and he told me it had just been sent back to London after he spoke with them 2 days ago.

Hopefully they will get an expedited interview appt very soon.

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-10 11:26:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

Another update, have spoken with CBP at BWI airport and am going in to see them and hopefully get stamped in on K1. My stuff should have been delivered to the deferred entry unit there.

I have given them info on the address of US embassy London so hopefully they can send the other couples forms back as they are still here.

London apparently said as this has never happened before they wanted all my stuff back and re issue everything, which would have meant a trip back to the Uk for me and another $1000 plane ticket. Fortunately CPB here said no way otherwise he (me) would have nothing here. Chalk one up for common sense.

United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

Update: after waiting until today I replied to the embassies  acknowledgement and got a reply within the hour saying they can confirm my I129F was sent by mail to CBP on 4 Oct. Just got to hope they had the sense to send it to CBP at  BWI airport and not some central place where it might get lost.

United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

that was me nobbie but I said it sarcastically with a rolled eyes smiley...sorry for the confusion and for all this hassle. sad.png

No problem,

Just a bit fed up with it as is the other guy who had suggested to London that there might be 2 people with the same name when he made enquiries about where his interview letter was.

They told him his passport number did not match the one they had, mainly because they were looking at mine!!!! So this error could have been spotted earlier had they bothered to look properly

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-04 11:22:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

Woah, this one is a doozy! Hope they get things sorted for you both ASAP!

Were you the one, Nobbie, that got your passport back in only 4 days - interviewed Monday and got your passport on Friday?

Either way it's unbelievable this mess is so hard to sort.

Aside: I wrote in my Embassy review for London last week that my interview was interrupted mid-flow by a woman that showed up who had apparently spoken directly on the phone to the chap behind the counter checking my documents earlier that morning (she knew his name) & had been told to go straight to his counter number (13) to sort her issue out when she arrived - When she had been told by the courier to 'open the package and check the contents' She accidentally opened the interior envelope (she was blonde wink.png) and consequently was at the Embassy to have it resealed. Rather than wondering how she accidentally opened the envelope, I stood there thinking 'How the hell did she talk to this guy directly on the phone???' I wish I had asked now but I'm just repeating the story because there must be SOME way, if she did it.

Good luck.

yes that is me, just when you think it is going well..........

No idea how this woman got to speak directly to them, i have tried to find a way but cannot..

Someone on here wrote how nice it was of them (CBP) to let me have 30 days to sort it out.

No it was not.

The alternative was to send me back to the UK!!

I proposed to CPB that I return the next day with a copy of the I129F and both biometric forms plus a copy of the NOA2 approval (with original if needed) and then they could let me in on the K1. As far a CBP goes that seemed reasonable enough to me. Then I would deal with USCIS regarding the I129F itself.

Just glad i am only 15 mins from airport as I will have to return there to be entered on a K1.

Be a real pain if I was entering there then had a connecting flight onwards.

United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

Now I look back to my interview, in the first bit where they collect your docs together, the bloke asked me "what is your middle name" at the time I thought it was an odd, if not easy question.  Makes me think now he was making sure I was the right person. For those who do not know, me and the other Steve have identical first and surnames but different middle names.

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-03 07:57:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

Hopefully this will get resolved now. The issue now seems to me to be different govt agencies, CBP, Embassy who are state dept, USCIS at  my end too.

Not sure about the name change, however I will let you know when I file for AoS!!!!! Lets try and have different timelines.

Can you IM the number you are using to speak to officer Hum, might give her a call tomorrow, see what she thinks is going to happen about getting my stuff here as she is the one who can speak to the embassy.

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-03 07:02:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

No protocol, how hard can it be, just send your stuff back to London and mine to Baltimore, there, protocol sorted. All they gotta do is look in your file and see my I129F, now they know there is an issue they will easily see it is not yours.

I had a reply back from London via their contact form and they too have said they are investigating.

I also went to USCIS in Baltimore yesterday and they are pulling my file from Mesquite Tx where it was approved. hopefully there is a copy of my I129F in there as well.

United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

I know if u phone the embassy switchboard number and go through the options you can speak to a operator.as this is a pretty serious matter maybe they would be able to put you through to the visa unit or have someone call you.it may be a long shot but everything worth a try

Tried that this morning, they are morons. They just say all you can do is email the embassy

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-02 14:57:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

You have no idea, it was pure fluke. I have just rang the number above and spoke with border control in the states. If I can help Noobie I obviously will, I have to phone again in an hour and speak with Officer Hum I just hope London are sympathetic to their mistake and help arrange a quick interview for me. We were so wanting to get married on the 21st this month.

Officer Hum is the CPB officer who admitted me last night. I have just got back from USCIS office in Baltimore, very helpful, they are going to get my file back from Mesquite and I will go back next week. I think also on my visa there is an alien number which is not mine, so probably is yours, I PM you to see if that is the case, but by the names must be. London must be half asleep when they do this.

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-02 14:07:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

have you tried contacting the US embassy in London, bloody nightmare. I have used the contact form to explain, now will have to wait. I have tried calling but you cant get anywhere. Some moron answers and says give it back to the courier to return. They will not put you through to the consulate or visa unit.

Spoken to USCIS in Texas who approved it, DoS and NVC, no one keeps copies of the approved petition.

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-02 11:57:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?

I think that is the worst mistake I have ever read. How about your medical results? Did they make it? If not, you will have to do another entire exam.
[/yes medical made it. USCIS don't keep copies neither do DOS.quote]

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-10-02 08:05:00
United KingdomKimberley (Salgado?) Steve Reed?
Got here to Baltimore and when they opened the sealed envelope, all my DS forms were there and the stuff I took to interview, birth cert and so on, but someone elses approved I129F. Appears that someone with almost the same name as mine was doing a K1 in London and some muppet put their approved I129F in with my stuff.
So I have appt today with CIS in Baltimore to see if they can pull up a copy of the approved petition for me to take back to CBP at the airport to get me in on the K1. Currently in for 30 days to try and sort it out.
I have copies of our original stuff and the NOA2 approval so they may be able to do it quickly.

I used DHL to send something to the US, picked up about 10 one morning and was in the US at the house next day, no reason why it would not work the other way.

United KingdomMarriage certificate for interview?? Help!!

I took mine but they said we are not interested we just want the decree absolute to make sure you are free to marry. So do not worry, they most likely will not be interested.

Embassy assign interview date after both medical and all your forms are received. Seems to be running around a month later from what I can tell on here. Am waiting myself.

United KingdomProcess from NOA2 to Arrival in the US - Notes
as said above, things have changed, I only interviewed 5 weeks ago and it's different, DS160 and DS 260 and all sorts of stuff, if you read the embassy web site and do as instructed when you get the so called packet 3 all should be fine.

United KingdomMRV FEE & DELIVERY HELP!!!
it is clumsy, if you get to a page where it offers a choice of Non immigrant or immigrant chose Immigrant, otherwise you will end up in the wrong place.
It only lets you choose home delivery after you have paid the MRV fee.

United Kingdommedical again in USA due to incomplete vaccination record ?
I have just filed AoS and have only got 1 MMR shot on my vacc record from Knightsbridge, however as i understand it you only have to have the correct shots which were applicable at the time of the medical. I could only have 1 MMR and TD as that is what was medically correct at that time. I will see what happens!!

I got there at 07:30 for 8:30 appt and had no issues with being early. People were already there so if I were you I would get there by 07:30 and get it over with asap. The worst thing that can happen is you go and have a cuppa and wait but I dont think that will happen.

United KingdomSSN

Hi Nobbie - did you go to the office in Baltimore? I ask as we will be living in baltimore - and getting married in Annapolis smile.png

Hi McB, I was living in Baltimore but we have moved to Annapolis so I went to the Annapolis office. Its just off route 50, easy to find, right opposite a marriot hotel and loads of parking. I would recommend going there as there were no queues, I was in and out in about 10-15 mins. I would imagine a city office would be more crowded and you may have problems, in the office i went to it was a doddle.

Here is a link to the office site showing opening hours, location etc.

United KingdomSSN

I got married first and had no issues, I took passport, I-94, and marriage cert. I also took, just in case, the document that is recommended in the SSN guide which shows which classes of visa can apply for an SSN and it shows a K1 can. I did not need it but took it in case i got a dork at the office.

I went in Thursday and my card arrived on the following Monday.

The stuff about turning in to a K3 is nonsense.

I waited until the CEAC site said "in transit" then booked it, there was a 2 week wait for a medical appt anyway.

Dont see as you have any choice, I doubt you can go to the place you were registered and change it.

Send it in, I sent my paperwork in before medical, only just  ind you, so everything would be there at the same time. Then you just wait for London to inform you of the interview date, keep en eye out on the CEAC website and check for updates

nobbieMaleUnited Kingdom2013-11-16 10:13:00
United KingdomIn need of some final hurdle reassurance

In our case, our interview was approved on Friday, there were a couple CEAC updates over the weekend and it was changed from Immigrant to Non-immigrant visa and given a new case creation date and changed to Issued on Monday, and we had the visa via courier on Friday, a week after the interview.

Planning a wedding date before you have a visa in hand is usually not a good idea anyway though.  Also, you need to get a marriage license once here, which I know here anyways requires a Social Security number, which you can't get for 2 weeks after date of arrival here. (It takes that long to show up in the database to be issued one.)

Based on what I personally experienced you may have the visa in hand on the 21st, although as with anything actual results may vary.

You do not need an SSN for marriage licence, it may vary state to state but my fiancee got our licence before i even arrived in the US. You have to provide and SSN IF you have one. If you do not then it does not matter.
