Well I am now educated...thankyou

 

I was on IM with my American Fiance just now and I asked here to type what she thinks is the pound sign...low and behold she typed "#"

 

So there you go!!!

 

 

Anyhow, after at least 3 hours or so of calling Embassy, Courier, Knightsbridge.....i finally got an email confirming from Knightsbridge that my medical documents are with the US Embassy..........

 

So its now down to the medical officer there and processing of my visa.....its been since 11th december now..

 

Im just hoping there is no more issues here and its just down to processing..

 

Is it true that if you have applied for a Visa then you become ineligible to travel on an ESTA...?

 

 

 

I know the feeling, I am here in the US and could travel back to the UK or Europe for work no problem, BUT then they will not let me back in here without AP so once you get here and file for AoS make sure you file for EAD and AP at the same time.

Not sure, I was not expecting to be asked for  but for some reason I took it. Maybe she saw it and then asked for it.

I put "legal alien allowed to work" and had no problems, take your passport with visa along with the i-94 as well. I was also asked for my marriage cert.

or call the registrar of births deaths etc wherever you were born, I did it over the phone for a tenner. The long certs have been arounf for years and years, the small ones were free, the long ones parents had to pay for, I had only the short version.

Hey, thats nothing, I have post on here about when I got to the US that the big envelope had half of my stuff and half of someone elses stuff in it, took while to sort out, search for port about Steve Reed around 2 to 4 Oct this year, read it and weep. Good thing is me and him are both here and in touch by phone and e mail (and both moaning about the same stuff)

The embassy will have your approved petition when you go there but as said you are supposed to send in a copy of the approval notice with your AoS petition, No idea why being as they are the same people who issued the thing in the first place.

You can crack on and get your medical scheduled if you have your police cert. Normally a 2 week wait for medical appt. Interview will not be scheduled until they have your petition, have your readiness forms and have your medical results.

Well update is

 

I now have in the palm of my hand one brand spanking new passport and one very original looking birth certificate! (I just hope they are happy with th ebirth cert its not the same yellowish my old original was and it says "Certified copy". Any ideas?

 

Also now i have a new passport does anyone know if i need to reapply for my ESTA like i would usually do with a new passport or will i not need an esta because i have a visa?

Certified copy is what it says if it's not the original and is fine, thats what I had.

 

You wont need an esta as you will be entering as a K1.

 

Esta is for visa waiver and you have a visa, or will soon anyhow.

If you don't mind me asking what was it that made them not sure about your birth certificate? Was it because it wasn't the original copy .mine isn't my original but it's a official copy which people on here seem to think will be fine

It will be fine, I never got a full original when I was born so had to provide a certified copy, that was fine. stop worrying, its a doddle

It will do no harm to take your own bank statements if you have a fair bit of cash in them, I had around $150K in a dollar account and they took that quick enough. I took 2 years tax transcripts as she is self employed and has no payslips etc.

I had my K1 interview in London in Sept. I took the affadavit of support form (cant remember the number I 134 or similar) and the last 2 years tax transcripts. Thats all I took and it was fine. Best place to look is on the UK subforum on here for stuff specific to London.

yes just the one, you don't actually need the original for the medical a copy will do. I just offered a copy, which they then copied, although I had the original just in case, I just wanted to find out if a copy was fine. You DO need the original plus copy for the interview though.

I think you need the flu jab if it's the flu season, which it is now. It's nuts really, i have never has either the flu or a flu jab. Luckily for me my medical was in Aug so did not need it. I believe the rule is you are supposed to have whatever jabs are needed at the time of your medical. Thing is by the time your fiance gets to the US and files for AoS it most likely wont be the flu season so I am not sure where you stand there if he did not have it in the UK. As a K1 you do not need to have all the jabs before arrival but you will need them for AoS. Maybe Nich Nick will know.

The medical needs the police report and you need the case number which I assume you have. If you reckon he will have the police report in 2 weeks then you can schedule the medical, there is normally a 2 week wait anyway.

I think the offical line is you wait for the so called packet 3 from the embassy telling you what to do.

For my part once I saw on CEAC site that the case was in transit I got my medical done and sent all my forms in, this was before DS160 and what have you though.

What he can do  is make sure he has all the required documents for the interview, long form of birth cert, divorce decree if needed, military record if needed and so on. get copies made, they will need to see originals but only keep copies at the embassy.

what is referred to as packet 3 is just a letter from the embassy telling you they have your case and you can submit your paperwork and do the medical. If you have an LND number and your police cert you can do your medical although check on the CEAC website to make sure your case is at least in transit from NVC to London.

I paid my MRV fee and now it wont let me print the payment receipt, or print instructions
 
when I click on 'print instructions' the links says "The page you were looking for doesn't exist- you may have mistyped or the page may have moved"
 
When I click on 'print receipt' it wont go anywhere as there is no link.
 
Luckily I took a screenshot of both, will this be ok?
 
 
 
Also my birth certificate is a bit tatty but you can clearly see mother's and father's name, my name and date of birth, will this be ok as well?

2; All the DS forms you submitted to the embassy

3; medical report

4: The stuff you took to the embassy at interview, birth cert, police cert etc.

 

Nothing you have not seen apart from the medical report. nothing secret in there.

Look at it in January then, they wont schedule an interview until they get the medical results, just download the latest version nearer the time.

 

keep an eye on your dates in case you need nortarised letter of intent from your fiance

Hi all 

 

Just got my Police Certt yay smile.png now for my packet 3 forms, I noticed that the D230 part I & II have been replaced by the D260 however I am yet to received my packet 3 instructions as yet should I chase or just send in DS 2001, DS-156, DS-157 & DS-156-K 

When you get packet 3 it will tell you, however as you will receive it after 1 Sept then I would suggest you do the 260.

 

Has the embassy received your docs from NVC yet. I would be wary of sending stuff too early in case they dont know who you are and your forms get put in a pile of stuff from folk they do not know about yet.

 

I think the best thing is to let it run it's course, do what they tell you when they tell you, it will not go any quicker by trying to pre empt the process.

 

If you send in DS2001 you are saying you are ready  and yet you are not going to send either DS260 OR DS230 pt1, that definately will not help.

Ask if you have a case number yet and i think you now need a receipt number for the new DS 260 form.

 

Then once you have case number go to

I was under the impression that I need to see my GP for Vaccinations. 

You can do if you need them or need evidence. Mine were well out of date and I never had MMR anyway, did not exist when I was that age, you just got mumps and measles etc and had a few days off school


Lol i have been at my practice 15 yrs he knows me very well. I guess your right if your GP doesn't know you best to get someone who knows you to sign police cert application.

he did not say police cert application, said Police cert, that was why I was questioning it. I got the pub landlady to do it who knows me far better than my GP!!!!!

I think he means for the GP to sign the form. My GP signed my police cert form.

Oh, why do that? My GP doesnt know who I am anyway, been with that doctors surgery only 3 years so have had no reason to go there

Oopps sorry only just seen this! In regards to the yellow box issue I did a search on the forums and the general advice is to reprint it in black and white (to avoid the yellowing issue) hence the copies im taking. I doubt it will be necessary though

Mine came out yellow, I just wrote in the boxes, do not see why this should be an issue. have my interview next Monday 23 rd  so they have logged the forms and said nothing.

Not taking copies either on the grounds that they have issued the interview so they must have them. Plus I do not have have copies.

When can I expect to hear from my US Embassy about medical, interviews etc?

Can you be a bit more vague???

 

Do you have your case number from NVC yet?

Have NVC received your petition from the service centre yet?

Few quick questions...my fiancé sent off all of his DS forms and DS-2001 on August 29. They were logged on September 6. How long can we expect to wait to hear of an appointment date being issued. We did state on our cover letter that we would be willing to take a cancelation and our desired arrival date was October 1 in the US.

 

We were planning on a mid October wedding, but we are pushing it back to November now that it's cutting it so close. However, I'm a teacher and we have a weeks fall break mid October that we would desperately like to share as a family while me and the kids are off work and school. Only 4 weeks away...think there's a chance of us making it?

Doubtful, all mys stuff, forms and medical were sent Aug 7th, logged by Aug 15th, my interview appt letter was dated 23rd Aug for Sept 23rd interview. I told them in my cover letter, sent 6th Aug,  that we wanted a 12 Sept wedding and that made no difference. By that token you may well make a mid Oct interview, that said it does not always follow, people seem to be out of sequence so you never know.

Are you in the immigrant section as opposed t the non immigrant part?

 

I had to select courier location, as in one of their depots, then pay the $240 fee then pay for the courier but only if I selected home delivery. If you are paying the courier fee before you must be doing something wrong. The courier fee is part of the $240 and then another $30 if you want home delivery.

May I ask what people found to be the availability for medical appointments? I am aggravatingly still waiting for a supporting letter from my GP, and I don't want to book anything until I have that in hand. When you called Knightsbridge were they pretty open? I'd love to get this ball rolling again, as soon as it's within my power!

2 weeks when I had mine also, think it depends on if it's just you, or do you have kids to bring along as well.
